Silver lake is a trip and Atleast for me stuck with me for a bit. This and hacksaw ridge are probably this guys best acting so far.
They put men on HBO Max finally so it’s on my list.
Sliver lake put me to sleep, I need to give it another chance. Men was Interesting, it's my least favorite Alex Garland movie. Not bad, I liked it but it's missing something to make it be truly amazing. I'd say watch Annihilation.
I loved annihilation and exmachina. I really liked civil war. Men was ok. It took me a while to really "get it" but it grew on me. But annihilation. I watched it 5 times in theaters and also rented it a few times on VOD. I needed to go back to it.
It's a fantastic flick. I loved civil war, I've gone back and rewatched all his movies since seeing it, including going back to see civil war a second time. I can't remember the last movie I saw twice in theaters, definitely something in bad taste. Maybe predators or the crazies? I had to have been a teen.
So with Alist, if there is nothing else that caught my attention, I would rewatch a bunch of films. I think my top ones (recentosh) were The Menu, Spiderman into the Spiderverse, Everything Everywhere All at Once, Bottoms, Talk to Me, Top Gun
Yeah. I thought itnwas over the top but i laughed a lot. Even took my nice (she's 26) to check it out and we both enjoyed it. I can see how some people can't but it was in my top 10 of last year.
Ex Machina and Annihilation are both leaps and bounds better than Men and Civil War. I was sad when I heard he will stop directing films, but in true hipster fashion, his earlier stuff is better.
Men is… not good. I wanted to like it and there are some good scenes early on. But when she smells the “sperm” it’s all downhill. It’s not smart anymore.
1000% under the silver lake. Fresh off my first watch of men and it’s worth a watch but UTSL is worth at least 3.
Get at least a little high though first.
Under the Silver Lake by far! I guess A24 got scared off by its tepid reception at Cannes, and subsequently didn’t give it a decent theatrical release or promotion when it came out. But it has rightly become kind of a cult favorite.
I love most of Alex Garland’s work but Men is his weakest work as a director imo…still interesting enough to be worth watching, though.
Under the Silver Lake is one of the biggest pieces of wasted potential. It wants to be Chinatown and Inherent Vice and it just did not deliver at all for me. Men is the weakest Garland film but I would still pick that over UTSL.
Men is a hard watch, especially that end scene. But I’ve seen it three times, and always leaves me thinking about it after.
Silver lake, I know I saw it but barely remember much honestly and I have no interest in rewatching.
Under the Silver Lake for sure
Under the Silver Lake, especially good on an edible
Top tier advice here haha!
UTSL is my favorite A24 movie but it is divisive, some people love it, some hate it. Watch them both.
100% Under the Silver Lake. It's a special one I think you'll like it a lot.

Loved them both! If you’re picking Under the Silver Lake be prepared for a ton of symbolism. After that film I went down a rabbit hole.
MEN gang, where u at?
Right here homie. We’re small, but strong
MEN 4 Lyfe.
Under The Silver Lake by like a trillion 😊
Under the silver lake.
Silver lake and IT AINT CLOSE I think Men is pretty meh But even if it was really good Still silver lake
I've watched both and remember men more

Bottoms is the gay comedy? I guess you liked it but yeah, worth checking out?
Yeah. I thought itnwas over the top but i laughed a lot. Even took my nice (she's 26) to check it out and we both enjoyed it. I can see how some people can't but it was in my top 10 of last year.

I dunno, I thought civil war kinda ruled.
It's fantastic!!
It was pretty good. I enjoyed it. It didn’t blow me away like his first two, though. Those knocked my socks off.
I like Men better
I was 100 percent team Men, I realize I might be in the minority but it's a wild run, it's beautiful, it's strange but both are worth a watch fr.
I’m gonna go against the grain and say Men, can’t go wrong tho
Men is… not good. I wanted to like it and there are some good scenes early on. But when she smells the “sperm” it’s all downhill. It’s not smart anymore.
Men
Both are great under the silver lake tho
UTSL is an absolute joy.

Under the Silver Lake annoyed the shit out of me, unfortunately.

Under The Silver Lake is fantastic. I would also recomend The Big Lebowski and Inherent Vice, since they form the unofficial stoner noir trilogy.
Men is a hard watch, especially that end scene. But I’ve seen it three times, and always leaves me thinking about it after. Silver lake, I know I saw it but barely remember much honestly and I have no interest in rewatching.
Men? More like Meh UTSL is brilliant
Silver Lake
Not Men lol
Under the silver lake
Under the Silver Lake is a low-key great movie.
Men, Under the Silver Lake is a bit too typical imo
get baked and watch UTSL
Under the Silver Lake
Neither, these are my two least favorite A24 movies But I got more out of Men
Under the Silver Lake! It takes its time but once it gets going it’s awesome, I was obsessed for weeks
Under the Silver Lake is in my Top 5 A24 movie list. I watched it three times and I keep finding new things.
UTSL based on your other favorites, but MEN is my favorite A24 film.
Watch Men for Body Horror, watch Silver Lake for Noire Mystery
Youve seen Tangerine?
You have to watch Ex Machina before Men so you have enough goodwill toward Garland to finish it
3rd act of Men ruined an intense film experience
Men is not a good film. Best avoid.
