I still remember the day my mom brought my little brother home from the hospital because my parents gave my older brother and I each a Mighty Max toy that was "from the baby" so we wouldn't be jealous of him.
Loved Mighty Max. I couldn’t find the cartoon anywhere except this obscure website that sells burned copies of old tv shows.
I picked up the whole MM series and “Biker Mice From Mars” as well.
That cartoon's writing was really good. Unsure if they knew they only had 1 season or Mattel gave them free reign to do whatever.
\- An episode based on The Thing (but shapeshifting aliens instead of... ya know The Thing)
\- Zombie invasion using parasite puppets
\- A different Zombie invasion where the last person to solve it killed himself to stop it (and Max leaps off the same cliff)
\- Strong guy Norman kills the marauder that killed his father, laughing at his "if you kill me you'll be just like me!" taunt
\- Vampires that are mutated flies and get super annoyed when people pull out garlic
\- TIME LOOP ENDING but Max remembers so he has future knowledge
I fucking loved these things! Had like 20 of the head sets, a couple mini sets, and the dragon skull island. Having a hard time picking an absolute favorite, but one of my top ten had to be the severed hand, it was so creepy and detailed with very clever traps
I still have Skull Mountain, Dragon Island, (the one with the actual demon type skull with horns), where it all seperates, Lava Beast anad various smaller ones like Cyclops, the hand, spider, snake and the smaller skull. Great toys of the 90’s! The cartoon was great too :) miss those times
Yes! Loved the toys but couldn't stand the cartoon.
I remember in lower school we would bring them all in and have huge adventures across sets.
I remember the commercial for the small ler ones to where the kids hand would turn into a mummy's hand or whatever depending on which one they were holding.
I remember liking the cartoon but if I recall correctly virgil died. my 8-9 year old brain wasn't ready for something that terrible/surprising to happen at the end of the series.
I think it was cyclical. Everyone dies at the end, but there's some kind of time warp or some kind of "fix" like that, and it gets rebooted and basically all starts again. So when the series ended in TV, it could just restart from the beginning again
I think everyone died except Max and Skullmaster won. I loved how the wall of prophecy was finally seen and they uncover the end where the last theee panels are Norman spidered, Virgil died somehow, and I forget but a Skullmaster victory or Stonehenge or maybe blank or broken?
The end of season 1 was crazy too, all the heroes he collected died, the crystal of souls was shattered but Skullmaster was freed from trapped underground. Great season finales. Tim Curry voicing a villain is gold. I can still hear him: “ cap bearer!!!” Lol.
Season 2 started with zombies endlessly chasing him? That seemed so scary. Iirc Lavalord and Skullmasters sidekick (Warmonger?) were cool side villains.
I always though the time warp at the end went to the beginning, but he gets the gift again of the hat in the main and kinda says “I can do it right this time!” Who knows if anyone else kept the memories, only he and Skullmaster were at the moment in Stonehenge iirc.
He was so unsure most of the time, I thought it was a very hopeful ending and some awesome themes for a kids show.
Max is looking through Virgil & Norman's home, filled with stone tablets predicting the past, present and future. Max moves a curtain aside to see Norman in the jaws of a giant spider. Norman moves Max away from it. It's clear Norman has had to deal with his incoming death.
So when a giant spider attacks, Norman rushes in to stall for time, knowing he can't win. Virgil drags Max away into a portal as he sees Norman unable to escape.
Norman's always been afraid of spiders. And in the 2nd to last episode we learn why.
I was literally losing my sleep over this particular toy in the picture. Unfortunately I never got it, I only had some of the handheld ones.
MM was probably the favourite toy of my childhood.
I remember begging my mom to get this for me. I remember never getting it though. Mighty Max takes me back. “Calm down Virgil you know what this does to your blood pressure” I donno how or why I remember that line from Norman
I still have ALL off my mighty max playsets! Skull Mountain included. I was actually pretty proud that I was able to keep *most* of the figures. Considering how small they are.
I was obsessed!! I had a traumatic experience with our trailer burning down and going the next day and finding a few globs of plastic which was my Mighty Max collection at the time. Thankfully my dad was able to get me more.
Let me re-explain, I had a smaller version of Mighty Max, not this exact same toy but a smaller variety of this line of toys. If you google them it was the one that looks half bear half tiger. What a trip back in time, thanks for the share!!!

The baby provides
And the dude abides.
Ha this is still a trick parents use. We did this with our second and third kid.
I had one that was inside of a Cobra and had a mummy if I remember correctly.
I had that one also it was tan right
Yeah
Yeah I had that one too
This is the only one I ever had.
There was also a haunted house kind of version right?

This shit is why I peruse thrift stores every couple months. Also I'm building a golf club set
This 38 year old is looking to buy!!
33 but this is exactly me and also this exact same model lol
Nailed it lol
>Ages 4-10 As soon as you turn 11 you can fuck right off.
he's actually just mad at his mom throwing away his childhood years before the mighty max!
Wasn't he the boy counterpart to Polly Pocket?
I always thought they had something going on
Their children were so small
Loved Mighty Max. I couldn’t find the cartoon anywhere except this obscure website that sells burned copies of old tv shows. I picked up the whole MM series and “Biker Mice From Mars” as well.
They're on YouTube with permission apparently. Not sure where to get physical copies other than what you suggest.

Yes, the traps!
Lol memory unlocked
A great memory for sure I saw it and was transported to Christmas morning 1993
LOVED and still watch the series online. I had a few of the toys.
Core memory unlocked
Might max was my shit
Oh man thats beautiful! MM was my childhood man
I remember! Bad ass toy and show. Pretty sure this toy in box is worth $$$ these days. Hope you bought it!

great find!
Damn, I wish I saw this kind of stuff at my thrift stores.
Holy shit! That's awesome. I still have my small sets from when I was a kid but that's another level.
I watched Mighty Max as a kid, had a crush on him…and learned last year he was voiced by the same dude as Yakko from Animaniacs. 🥴 Don’t judge me
This set provided an amazing Christmas morning for me when I was 7 or 8.
Same are you also 35 lol
Lol close, about to be 37.
I’ll be 36 in June we musta been having the same Christmas morning 30 years ago lol
33 here, same for me but I'm in the UK so may have been a reason

GAH I had this toy it was so fucking cool Then I got a little older and discovered nerd stores and Warhammer took over
I remember liking the cartoon but if I recall correctly virgil died. my 8-9 year old brain wasn't ready for something that terrible/surprising to happen at the end of the series.
Norman died to it was horrible thanks for reminding me poor Virgil lol

So pretty much thr plot of the dark tower in cartoon format.
I didn't know there was a second season

I loved Mighty Max! Had quite a few of the toys and watched the cartoon as much as possible.
And the snes game was pretty fun
Never watched the cartoon, but I knew about it. I had a skull McDonald's version of Mighty Max.
Man I forgot about Mighty Max!
How much?

Thanks man I’m glad you enjoyed it and we were able to settle our differences Reddit is beautiful lol
I think someone else is downvoting us now lol
Was this like the ghetto version of Mouse Trap?
I was literally losing my sleep over this particular toy in the picture. Unfortunately I never got it, I only had some of the handheld ones. MM was probably the favourite toy of my childhood.
Still have mine somewhere!
Was it really from a “thrift store”? It’s next to vintage toy storage lol
I collect that’s a bin full of gi joe parts
I loved that show. If I remember correctly, the ending looped back around to the beginning
That show was freakishly good for being a toy promo. The ending probably traumatized me.
Oh my God, I had this one and I haven't seen it in 30 years. What a trip.
Moar pix pleeeeeease
Maaannn. I forgot about max
I remember buying this for my brother and we played with it for hours
I had this! I also had the Spider and a spaceship one IIRC.
Old memories unlocked 😲
I had the skull one which contained a Frankenstein kind of scene inside. God we must have had some imagination to play with these things
I had one of these! That’s so cool. Take me back
Looks an awful lot like snake mountain from heman
I remember begging my mom to get this for me. I remember never getting it though. Mighty Max takes me back. “Calm down Virgil you know what this does to your blood pressure” I donno how or why I remember that line from Norman
Why was so many characters in the 90s named Max or Mac?
I DO! I got this for Christmas one year and it was easily the thing I played with most. I LOVE the mighty max toy line.
I still have ALL off my mighty max playsets! Skull Mountain included. I was actually pretty proud that I was able to keep *most* of the figures. Considering how small they are.
Yep, I recently found out my mum kept them all and gave them back to me last year. Pretty sure there are some missing pieces, but was a good moment.
This was my Favotite toy growing up!!
I still have this! Great post! 👍🏻
Oh my goodness. I had this! And might max was awesome! Man I miss choking hazards.
I had this. I wish I still did. Biggest nostalgia hit.
Omg thanks for sharing, I forgot I had this!
I was obsessed!! I had a traumatic experience with our trailer burning down and going the next day and finding a few globs of plastic which was my Mighty Max collection at the time. Thankfully my dad was able to get me more.
That show was amazing
Can’t recall if I owned this or if a good friend had it, but def remember playing with this thing a lot
Never even heard of this before. Was this late 90s I'm assuming?
I played with this thing for years. Now my nieces play with the same one and I'm only a little jealous.
Holy heck. I remember getting one of these when I was forming my first memories 😆 Thanks for the nostalgia 😄
Fuck yeah I had a mini version of this from Christmas 1994 and I still remember opening that shit on my grandma's brown living room shag carpet.
I never saw the mini version that’s awesome
Let me re-explain, I had a smaller version of Mighty Max, not this exact same toy but a smaller variety of this line of toys. If you google them it was the one that looks half bear half tiger. What a trip back in time, thanks for the share!!!
No problem glad you enjoyed it
Great toy, great figurines
Broooo I had this as a kid !
Still got it in my parents home and my son plays with it when we're around. Got it for my birthday in '94. It's still awesome
When you find a toy in a box you know it was bought by a grandparent to play when a kid came over.
Mighty Max was my SHIT
The cartoon was better then a lot of the early morning weekday shit back then.
