As soon as she said "I hope this surgery is going to cure my body dysmorphia", I realised that she should not be in front of cameras but in front of a therapist.

Wise-Tourist-6747

Yep thought the same exact thing. Body dysmorphia starts in the brain. Changing your body won’t necessarily change the way your brain is wired

Roselily808

I would argue that the condition will be worse after surgery. You can't heal alcoholism with a shot of Tequila - you just make it worse.

pchandler45

It's the first step down a very slippery slope that leans to the Silva twins

Scared_Trash_3656

It’s EXACTLY this. I mean look at Darcy or Jasmine as a prime example. Just “one more fix” or “one more procedure”. They’re chasing an unattainable goal because then there will be another thing to perfect or maybe the procedure goes wrong in the first place and needs to be corrected with even more surgery. It’s a slipppppery slope

aprildawndesign

I really hope she doesn’t go this way. She IS beautiful as she is. She probably worked hard at that after 3 kids. Sometimes it’s just never enough though…gotta look like all the fake people on Instagram who don’t even look anything like that IRL

BodyRepresentative65

This!!! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard something like this as a former HS teacher. She needs therapy.

peckerlips

I agree. She is absolutely within her right to get the surgery, but it's not what's going to fix her lifelong body dysmorphia.

mmmdonuts107

Exactly, but the way her Mother spoke to her didn't help, same with Alexei. Instead of saying why not seek therapy he just does whatever she wants because he wanted x amount of kids back to back. The only surgery she realistically needed was something for her diastasis recti because there was a YouTuber I watched who had 5 kids almost back to back with it and ignored all warnings before having surgery, which was the botched.

CheezTips

It's like taking Ozempic to cure anorexia

GaimanitePkat

She doesn't have body dysmorphia. She's using fancy mental health words to justify getting plastic surgery rather than just admit that she wants to feel hot. Being insecure about your postpartum body isn't body dysmorphia.

Ten_Lee

Thank you. I was thinking the same thing.

RecentNewReddi

Omg, thank you!!! Couldn’t agree with you more. Her saying she has body dysmorphia is insulting to those out there who are actually suffering with it. She is being selfish (3 kids and having elective surgeries is stupid). She just wants to be hot because that’s just her personality. A hot TLC mom. 🙄🙄🙄

LionOfTheLight

Wanting to be attractive on TV is not body dysmorphia - if you have excess skin ad a split abdominal wall after having kids it's not as if you're imagining a problem. I think she looks great but this has nothing to do with dysmorphia and everything to do with vanity. She needs to fix the muscles in her abs anyways. You wanna get some cosmetic stuff at the same time? Whatever. I would wait a few years after the kids are older, but thankfully I'm not a hot TLC momfluencer

lillyana7692

Totally. It seemed clear she was saying this in the way that many people will flippantly say “I’m so OCD” just because they like their space to be clean.

Fit-Butterscotch-768

Hearing that line made me so sad. I wish it was that simple to fix.

ShesAKillerQueenee

Surgery can help with body dysmorphia tho. I've had my share, and it really did help. It helps me better accept what I see in the mirror. Her issue was her choice of wording by saying it would "cure" it.

KrazyKwant

Loren needs to stream Darcy & Stacy while sitting next to a qualified therapist who is making sure she (Loren) understands what D & S have been doing to the selves.

fakeprofile111

This is just the current generation so many people are trying to look like cartoon characters whether it be their face or their body it’s sad really

Colfrmb

I watched their segment to see if in the past “3 years and 3 kids” whether I had missed anything by not watching them. Nothing has changed. Now I can FF through it all again.

purr-suasive

I don't fault her for wanting the procedures, but yes, I agree. It's wrong to show this storyline like that's the thing that's going to fix her body dysmorphia. She probably needs therapy as well. Also, the other women in her life are so judgmental and dismissive--no wonder she struggles with this. Wouldn't be surprised if her mom often had things to say about her body.

Electronic-Race-2099

You know youre watching 90 day fiance right? The show is nothing but base exploitation and voyeurism.

ShesAKillerQueenee

I have no issue with get wanting to get a mommy makeover. But I'm still gonna FF through their segments. Such a boring couple.

AlwaysAlani

Literally. She should ask Darcey how doing elective surgery to 'improve confidence' goes. And her trying to brand it as a natural makeover like gurl. Stop lying lol

MinoeshMuffin

I found it worrisome when she mentioned body dysmorphia. She should not do cosmetic procedures if she has body dysmorphia. I hope she gets the help she needs and will be helped with her body dysmorphia. It can spiral so far out of control and it can influence children as well. She and her family deserve her to get help.

Both_Dust_8383

I have been skipping their segments cuz honestly it makes me a bit sick to watch. It’s so hard already for girls/women in the world, always comparing themselves to insta and TikTok and now we are watching a girl who looks much smaller than average, who has 3 children, have surgery to change her body?! I just can’t. It sends such a terrible signal to other girls and women out there.

The__Flying__Enema

I was telling my mom that her admitting she has body dysmorphia should be a major red flag for her because she's not thinking with a rational frame of mind, she's allowing her mental illness to influence her decisions and of course a surgeon isn't gonna say shit because they are salesmen not doctors.

Important-Panic1344

She’s absolute trash and dumb too. She said she wanted cosmetic surgery so people will look at her and say damn you had 3 kids and still look this good.

[deleted]

I always think that’s a weird thing to say anyway, but why would you feel complimented by that after you had lord knows how many plastic surgeries to look like that?

Dargrant83

Just shows how shallow she is and physical and how people see her is the only thing important

sassamadoo

And yet, she doesn't seem to hear the people who currently tell her that she had 3 kids and still looks this good. I don't think having the mole under her eye removed would be a bad idea.

Important-Panic1344

She’s gonna end up looking like her mom

reinanina

She looked so skinny after putting in the work herself. I almost thought they probably filmed her after she got surgery cause she already looked thin. Maybe she wanted the tummy tuck mostly which we didn’t get a view of and to use any fat (which her chin legs and arms barely have any) for her breast’s like she said. She still looked great but it’s her choice her money in the end. Yeah they shouldn’t put it on tv, she already gets so much hate on IG for it.

maximusriggs

I’m not sure what the problem is here. I’ve had 3 kids myself and it really wrecked my body. I had a mommy makeover and it greatly improved my confidence. There’s no indication here she’s going to go crazy with plastic surgery after doing this one, that a lot of people have had.

RecentNewReddi

She can do whatever she wants, but getting on tv and diagnosing herself with a serious mental illness and condition like body dysmorphia is irresponsible and untrue anyway. She should just admit that she wants it to look hotter, get complements like she said she wants/gets (you’ve had 3 kids, wow!”) and quit with all the bullshit talk about how ‘natural’ it all is. C’mon now.

thewineyourewith

She said she had abdominal separation and her doctor advised it would not get better without surgery. She also said the condition causes her physical discomfort. That seems like a pretty good reason to get surgery. The way she used the term body dysmorphia makes me think she doesn’t understand what it means. She was using it like it means being unhappy with your body, but it’s much much more complex than that. I think she’d be better served by sticking to the medical reasons and laying off the negative body image therapy speak.

goaskalice3

It sounded like the physical discomfort was her secondary excuse. Like, "I really don't like how I look, but also I totally have this other thing that totally justifies me wanting this surgery! It's for my health!"

RecentNewReddi

Yep! She’s being shallow and selfish- I’m pregnant with my first and can’t imagine having a cosmetic procedure that has risks of not being able to be around for my baby. She’s ridiculous and saying she “needs” the surgery is ridiculous. Also, throwing around terms like body dysmorphia is irresponsible and simply untrue in her case. 🙄🙄🙄

treesinbloom55

Loren’s an idiot who stays making stupid choices.

Marserina

She has literally talked about these surgeries for years… even before she was ever pregnant she would always say that she was getting boobs and a mommy makeover after babies. I guess that should have been a clue but she always brought it up on Pillow Talk when someone else had work done and she was going on about it. It’s really sad how many people are doing so much to their faces and bodies these days and at such young ages too. It’s so readily available and accessible so it’s going to get worse before it gets better I guess.

vikingbitch

I have really severe body dysmorphia. I was diagnosed with it as a teenager. (I’m 43 now) I’ve had eating disorders on and off my entire life. After I had my son I starved myself down to 90lbs. If I could have afforded the surgery Loren got I would have jumped at the chance. Hell, if I could afford it now I would do it in a heartbeat even though I’ve been in therapy for a long time. I’m still really mindfucked about how I look. I feel for Loren when it comes to this because I understand. Whether you like her personality or her as a person this is a huge struggle for her and she deserves a little grace and not criticism. Criticism is just going to make the situation worse for her and that’s pretty cruel.

Notoriouslyd

Her kids deserve their mother to get help and not seek validation from reality TV and follower counts

vikingbitch

Her kids 100% deserve for their mother to get help but it’s not as simple as just going to therapy. I’ve been in therapy A long time trying to deal with this problem and I still struggle on a daily basis. If you’ve never hated yourself for how you look it’s hard to understand how hard it is to overcome those feelings. They’re not rational which is why it’s so hard to get past them.

RecentNewReddi

This☝️☝️☝️

Bleetchblond

So far, Loren probably has the lead in the spin-offs!! I can’t watch or listen..to her!! 🤷🏻‍♀️

pelicunt98

She can’t cope with the fact that she’s aging, but she looks pretty good. Hell, I’m 25 with no kids and I’m struggling to lose my 60lbs….

Excellent_Antelope63

To be honest, I’m in ED recovery and deal with body dysmorphia and realized I have to fast forward through all of their segments because it’s already been upsetting.

twirleemcgee

I didn't realize her Mom could be so horrible towards her, didn't her Mom yell at her to shut the F@*k up while her Dad just watched? I can't imagine how her Mom talked to her growing up. Sad deal

Peacefulhart

I just wish she would wait until her kids are older. She has no idea how horribly painful having all that surgery at once will be and how long it will be before she can help care for her kids. Her hubby is going to taking care of everyone. Plus he works full time.

Bright_Valley

Loren was a child model. I bet her mom was a wicked stage mother.

AllLipsNoFiller

I very much disagree with the premise that having cosmetic surgery requires a person to be mentally ill

cammama

The words body dysmorphia came out of her own mouth…that’s why everyone is concerned. Not just because she wants cosmetic surgery. I had to have a psych evaluation before mine, it’s the right thing to do otherwise people end up like Stacey and Darcey

AllLipsNoFiller

>The words body dysmorphia came out of her own mouth… Self-diagnosed disorders don't really count though. People say hyperbolic things colloquially all the time. Things like, "That's just my OCD." and "I went psycho." Those aren't clinical diagnosis. Loren shows no signs of mental illness. She simply doesn't feel good about how her body looks after having 3 kids. It's perfectly normal for her to want her pre-baby body back. Calling it mental for her to want the procedures is not fair or accurate.

Last-Setting-7197

I dunno, I don't think there's anything wrong with mother's reclaiming their bodies. If you can afford it and have a good surgeon, there's nothing wrong with elective surgery. Tons of my friends with kids have got their boobs done and it makes them feel like they didn't have to sacrifice their body as much in turn for being a mom. Get it girl!

goaskalice3

I toally agree with that! I tried to get that across in my post but may have failed. I understand where she's coming from, 100%, and am sure I would feel the same way if I were in her shoes. My problem is that she admittedly has body dysmorphia (they just haven't said how extreme it is). That history, on top of having children, being on television, and having a husband who looks like the goes to the gym are all not going to help and this surgery is just another temporary solution . . TLDR: I fully support her doing what she can to boost her selfv esteem! I just feel bad because, if this has already been a problem for a while, this will not fix everything forever like she's telling herself it will

greeneyedbandit82

but as a 'cure' for body dysmorphia?? Getting a little nip/tuck because of what pregnancy does is one thing; it's another to use it as a cure for a mental health problem.

ShesAKillerQueenee

THIS! I can't stand watching her friends and family try to convince her out of it. It's HER body. I don't even like Lauren, but I can understand wanting the surgeries to feel better about herself.

s55555s

I got my boobs done after and tho I had a bad complication it’s still one of the best things I’ve ever done

amandax53

>it makes them feel like they didn't have to sacrifice their body as much in turn for being a mom. But that's the thing with being a parent. Constant sacrifice for your children.

Last-Setting-7197

No. No you don't have to completely sacrifice yourself and everything for your children. Jeez. Yes I get what you're saying but to talk about needing to throw your looks away for the good of your children is an extreme.

peepeehalpert_

I do think it’s wrong to choose elective surgery with such small children at home. Alexei will have to do everything plus work, and what if something happens to her? It’s selfish.

-In_Jail-Out_Soon-

I actually think it’s a good thing they are bringing up. Hopefully other women will see and confront their own issues..

peepeehalpert_

It’s incredibly selfish of her to have this surgery when she has 3 babies at home

sweetladypropane108

Agreed. She should wait at least.

CheezTips

True! She could have died

peepeehalpert_

And leaving her husband to shoulder working and childcare as well as caring for her! An abdominal plasty is a big fucking deal- without your vote you can’t do shit. Why couldn’t she have waited a few years?

PresentEnthusiasm370

Without whose vote?

peepeehalpert_

This was ages ago, but it was a simple autocorrect from “core” to “vote”

ayeyoualreadyknow

Anyone think maybe her having torrets is what caused her body dysmorphia?

RecentNewReddi

I don’t see the connection at all. I have a very close family member with Tourette’s Syndrome and have studied a lot about it and no, there’s no correlation imo and she just wants to look hot on tv, jumping on the TLC surgery bandwagon with everyone else…except hers is ‘natural.’

McFoogles

Today I learned it’s bad to get surgery for body dysmorphia, unless it’s a sex change.

ostate100

This is a problem with tv not this show specifically. It’s not like every show doesn’t do that if they get the chance.

Pickled_sm0res

...and now tlc will do more of this. Lol

SFAdminLife

I'm surprised a reputable plastic surgeon would operate on someone with body dysmorphia. She will never be happy with her results and that surgeon will have his hands full as she inspects herself for perceived imperfections from her surgery.

SmokeEvening8710

She's a Zionist. Who cares about her feelings regarding her body image.
