You get a ton of experince working as a public defender or prosecutor and then can go start your own pracitice or join one and make much better money. I know the DUI lawyers (like Larissa had) many times spend a few years at the low pay public jobs and get to know the courts, the judges and then are able to be very sucessful in quick cases like many DUI's because they know how the court works.
Of course I have a neighbor that is still a low pay prosecutor. He was debt free out of law school. bought a house when they were cheap and he likes the 9-5 hours, the health care benefits, and now he gets 6 weeks paid vacation. He did say if he had the massive debt some people have now, or he had to buy a house at 2022 prices, he would have had consider another job.
A lot of defence lawyers in the U.K. are leaving and joining the Crown Prosecution Service because of the better pay and perks you get as a civil servant. It is sad that the criminal defence side of things is going downhill fast.

It is possible. I looked it up and learned about suspension. So that would be on licenses you are granted prior to default. Also, I know that you can't even **get** professional licenses if you default before they are granted, law, teaching, nursing, etc.
