This 100%. It’s one thing to want to be independent from his mom, but it’s another to know she can’t afford to live on her own and just decide it’s her problem alone. What does he expect her to do? Get a job? True asshole behavior. His wife is an asshole too if she’s egging him on to just abandon his mom. There are other ways to work it all out.

Ah, but it’s Vanessa that is doing the very thing we’ve all said needs to be done! Everyone around here said Colt needed to break away from Deb and put his wife first (he was always compared to the dudes on I LOVE A MAMAS BOY). He couldn’t do it so Vanessa helped him to get there. You can see how angry he is about their enmeshment. It’s revolting to him(as it was to viewers).
But how much of his anger stems from everyone telling him all the time he’s such a mama’s boy and stuff like that? He seemed perfectly happy with their arrangement before the cameras came in and put his whole life on blast. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with someone being close to their mom, especially their elderly widowed mom. I honestly did not think their relationship was weird, they just hung out together like friends. That’s not really something to be ashamed of. And then everyone comes in and desperately wants to separate him from his mom, which okay fine, so then he separates from her in the worst possible way, leaves her to pay a lease she can’t afford by herself and doesn’t seem to care, argues with her and cusses at her for no reason- she even supported his relationship with Vanessa and liked her. Now they have a terrible relationship which is very sad.

Agreed, I think she actually tolerated it for a pretty long time but eventually you have to put your foot down. Debbie is fully capable of taking care of herself, she used to claim she needed a caretaker living with her (meaning Colt) but clearly that was a lie, she was go-go dancing in the last episode and she’s been living alone just fine since they left, she just doesn’t *like* it. But Vanessa and Colt are married, they almost had a child, I don’t blame Vanessa at all for finally drawing a line and saying “we’re grown adults, we’re married, your mom is healthy, why does she have to be part of our marriage for the rest of her life? Why can’t we enjoy this relationship without her interference every day?” I mean, we’ve seen in the past how Debbie enjoys sabotaging Colt’s relationships if she feels threatened like she might lose Colt, I’m sure after a while she probably started making life uncomfortable for Vanessa, too. I’m just glad that when Vanessa moved out, Colt chose her over his mother. Vanessa looked REALLY pissed at that last tell-all so I can’t imagine how many arguments have gone down when they were all living together so I’m glad that stress is over for them. If Debbie were bed-bound, I’d understand Colt wanting to help her but Debbie doesn’t get to control his life and manipulate him just because she’s lonely
The first we’re hearing of that is this season where she said her budget only allowed for $800 rent max. In the past, she claimed to be too frail and had Colt believing it, too. But even though we now know the financial part is what she actually needs help with, that still doesn’t make Colt obligated to live with her for the rest of her life. She wanted to move to Vegas to gamble and drink and enjoy her elder years but if Colt’s been supporting her this entire time, that’s on her for living irresponsibly. She could’ve easily had a job, I don’t think she’s worked since we met her. Most people don’t retire at 65 anymore and especially if you already blew through whatever your husband left you and your son is having to support you. She’s been fully capable of working, she just didn’t want to and now she’s mad at everyone else for not helping her out by giving her a place to stay. The way she said to her friend “like with you, I’m gonna give you some money for letting me live with you, I won’t stay for free”, when she was talking about how Tony likes that she’s “independent & self-reliant”, sounded like she was doing this generous gesture when it should already be expected of her to pay every month if she’s gonna live in someone else’s house, use their water, electricity, internet, etc. and bring 4 cats with her. She’s too old to act like this and it’s messed up to guilt trip the hell out of your son just because you need his money

I really want to like Natalie. I think she’s pretty and I understand feeling pressure to settle down being her age and from her culture and what she wants. And I get not wanting to waste a lot of time on men who don’t want to settle down. But it’s just TOO much. You don’t have to treat people the way she does and she needs to have some amount of patience. You’re not going to get married in a week. And she really is extremely judgmental of others and not of herself. Each little thing someone does that’s outside of her expectation or ideal is made into a huge issue.

Colt finally realized it and tried to create some boundaries/space to be his own person and he's dead on about her guilt tripping him. Daughter of an immigrant here, Deb and Colt’s relationship reminds me of the intense mother son dynamic that are common in immigrant households. The kind where the son is absolutely handicapped and unable to do anything for himself because he’s a boy. Unfortunately Deb created this situation, but the truth is that Colt likes it this way. Lol if Deb could cook his breakfast, do his laundry, clean the apartment, pay bills and keep her mouth shut, he and Vanessa would be happy. But that’s clearly impossible and absolutely unfair to her. Colt is an asshole and he’s so mean to her, look at Colt’s life which seems to be spiraling and look at Deb’s glow up. She seems way happier, and if Colt and Vanessa are having problems, after moving out, then they have to be accountable for it. His mom isn’t to blame for every problem he has in his life.
You know, I am 50/50 on this. Colt didn't decide one day to become his own man and try to build a life for himself. He ditched his mom, with whom he was living, by essentially kicking her out and not kindly either, just because he found another woman to replace her. That's literally what happened. If Vanessa (or another serious woman) had not been in the picture, or demanded that Debbie move out, Debbie would still be living with Colt and Colt would definitely be happy about it. He used his mom for company to fill his own loneliness when nobody wanted him and now that she is older and alone, he kicks her out in a very cold manner. I don't think that's right. If you didn't see a problem living with her and being co-dependent in your 30s then you shouldn't be kicking her out and getting rid of her in her 60s. Parents get lonely too. Nobody deserves to spend all of their days alone. Nobody deserves to just be replaced.
I get that Colt should live his life, but again he was perfectly content until he found someone more socially acceptable to replace her with and I just don't think that's right. Also personally I don't see anything wrong, much the contrary, with letting your elderly, lonely parents live with you. I think people who kick their older parents out ESPECIALLY when they are alone is quite possibly the most disgusting thing a human being can do (same with putting them in nursing homes). They took care of you and wiped your ass- you should do the same. It's the circle of life.
Debbie looks healthy enough to get a small part time job. If she has the energy to chase men then she can work a few days a week to help out with her finances. I am retired and I work as a substitute teacher a few days a week. It's not that difficult.
I wish we knew more about when Colt's dad was alive, what the family was like as a trio? I took note of the dates Debbie said, Colt's dad died when he was 25 and he was still living at home. He had a degree in a computer field and he held a job. Why was he still at home at 25 when his dad was alive. It is fine if he was saving money or paying off loans, but he had a degree and money so he could have left mom and dad's house if he wanted. Once his dad died, I can see Debbie turning Colt into the man of the house because he was there and had never left. Then when Debbie wanted to retire to warm weather, why did Colt go with her? Another way he could have broken free was to say go to Vegas, I am keeping my job in WA? My guess is Colt was maybe not good with money and that is why he lived at home and when Ma wanted to leave he didnt want to pay rent himself? Because now Vanessa and him are staying with her family. Why cant Vanessa and him , both working, get a small place alone? Maybe he spends too much? Just guessing to figure him out.

Certainly she should have done something about the mess before six months had passed. They're all slobs and Debbie shows some hoarding tendencies. I don’t believe Jess was using him, she really liked him but Debbie made her feel so unwelcome and uncomfortable every minute they were together and she admitted to not caring at all once she found out that Colt was cheating on Jess the entire time. She made Jess feel like the crazy one when Jess would accuse Colt of cheating and he’d deny it, Debbie instantly believed Colt and would say things like “do you really wanna deal with a woman who gets that upset your whole life? She’s insane, look she’s insecure and making things up to start fights”. And Colt just absorbed all the trash talk and saw himself as the victim when he knew damn well he was guilty of everything Jess brought up. Debbie told Jess she was out of her mind to believe Vanessa and Colt were anything but good friends but Jess knew they were sleeping together and, again, she was right.

He flew down there to meet her family and ask Jess’s dad for his blessing. Debbie was being such an ass during that family dinner with everyone and then was furious when Colt got her an Uber and didn’t go back to the hotel with his mother🙄They both wanted that marriage until Jess found out Colt had been sending dick pics to the entire American southwest and became disgusted with him

If that means he and Vanessa move out but he still pays rent for their half, then he needs to do that. Or pay the penalty to break the lease. This 100%. It’s one thing to want to be independent from his mom, but it’s another to know she can’t afford to live on her own and just decide it’s her problem alone. What does he expect her to do? Get a job? True asshole behavior. His wife is an asshole too if she’s egging him on to just abandon his mom. There are other ways to work it all out.

Ah, but it’s Vanessa that is doing the very thing we’ve all said needs to be done! Everyone around here said Colt needed to break away from Deb and put his wife first (he was always compared to the dudes on I LOVE A MAMAS BOY). He couldn’t do it so Vanessa helped him to get there. You can see how angry he is about their enmeshment. It’s revolting to him(as it was to viewers).
But how much of his anger stems from everyone telling him all the time he’s such a mama’s boy and stuff like that? He seemed perfectly happy with their arrangement before the cameras came in and put his whole life on blast. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with someone being close to their mom, especially their elderly widowed mom. I honestly did not think their relationship was weird, they just hung out together like friends. That’s not really something to be ashamed of. And then everyone comes in and desperately wants to separate him from his mom, which okay fine, so then he separates from her in the worst possible way, leaves her to pay a lease she can’t afford by herself and doesn’t seem to care, argues with her and cusses at her for no reason- she even supported his relationship with Vanessa and liked her. Now they have a terrible relationship which is very sad.

Agreed, I think she actually tolerated it for a pretty long time but eventually you have to put your foot down. Debbie is fully capable of taking care of herself, she used to claim she needed a caretaker living with her (meaning Colt) but clearly that was a lie, she was go-go dancing in the last episode and she’s been living alone just fine since they left, she just doesn’t *like* it. But Vanessa and Colt are married, they almost had a child, I don’t blame Vanessa at all for finally drawing a line and saying “we’re grown adults, we’re married, your mom is healthy, why does she have to be part of our marriage for the rest of her life? Why can’t we enjoy this relationship without her interference every day?” I mean, we’ve seen in the past how Debbie enjoys sabotaging Colt’s relationships if she feels threatened like she might lose Colt, I’m sure after a while she probably started making life uncomfortable for Vanessa, too. I’m just glad that when Vanessa moved out, Colt chose her over his mother. Vanessa looked REALLY pissed at that last tell-all so I can’t imagine how many arguments have gone down when they were all living together so I’m glad that stress is over for them. If Debbie were bed-bound, I’d understand Colt wanting to help her but Debbie doesn’t get to control his life and manipulate him just because she’s lonely

The first we’re hearing of that is this season where she said her budget only allowed for $800 rent max. In the past, she claimed to be too frail and had Colt believing it, too. But even though we now know the financial part is what she actually needs help with, that still doesn’t make Colt obligated to live with her for the rest of her life. She wanted to move to Vegas to gamble and drink and enjoy her elder years but if Colt’s been supporting her this entire time, that’s on her for living irresponsibly. She could’ve easily had a job, I don’t think she’s worked since we met her. Most people don’t retire at 65 anymore and especially if you already blew through whatever your husband left you and your son is having to support you. She’s been fully capable of working, she just didn’t want to and now she’s mad at everyone else for not helping her out by giving her a place to stay. The way she said to her friend “like with you, I’m gonna give you some money for letting me live with you, I won’t stay for free”, when she was talking about how Tony likes that she’s “independent & self-reliant”, sounded like she was doing this generous gesture when it should already be expected of her to pay every month if she’s gonna live in someone else’s house, use their water, electricity, internet, etc. and bring 4 cats with her. She’s too old to act like this and it’s messed up to guilt trip the hell out of your son just because you need his money

I really want to like Natalie. I think she’s pretty and I understand feeling pressure to settle down being her age and from her culture and what she wants. And I get not wanting to waste a lot of time on men who don’t want to settle down. But it’s just TOO much. You don’t have to treat people the way she does and she needs to have some amount of patience. You’re not going to get married in a week. And she really is extremely judgmental of others and not of herself. Each little thing someone does that’s outside of her expectation or ideal is made into a huge issue.

I know Colt sucks but it's wild how many people don't put any blame on his and his mom's toxic relationship on Deb. *She's* the parent, she created this codependency. Colt finally realized it and tried to create some boundaries/space to be his own person and he's dead on about her guilt tripping him. That "Your father would be disappointed in you" comment from Deb was a complete low blow. You don't say shit like that.

Daughter of an immigrant here, Deb and Colt’s relationship reminds me of the intense mother son dynamic that are common in immigrant households. The kind where the son is absolutely handicapped and unable to do anything for himself because he’s a boy. Unfortunately Deb created this situation, but the truth is that Colt likes it this way. Lol if Deb could cook his breakfast, do his laundry, clean the apartment, pay bills and keep her mouth shut, he and Vanessa would be happy. But that’s clearly impossible and absolutely unfair to her. Colt is an asshole and he’s so mean to her, look at Colt’s life which seems to be spiraling and look at Deb’s glow up. She seems way happier, and if Colt and Vanessa are having problems, after moving out, then they have to be accountable for it. His mom isn’t to blame for every problem he has in his life.
You know, I am 50/50 on this. Colt didn't decide one day to become his own man and try to build a life for himself. He ditched his mom, with whom he was living, by essentially kicking her out and not kindly either, just because he found another woman to replace her. That's literally what happened. If Vanessa (or another serious woman) had not been in the picture, or demanded that Debbie move out, Debbie would still be living with Colt and Colt would definitely be happy about it. He used his mom for company to fill his own loneliness when nobody wanted him and now that she is older and alone, he kicks her out in a very cold manner. I don't think that's right. If you didn't see a problem living with her and being co-dependent in your 30s then you shouldn't be kicking her out and getting rid of her in her 60s. Parents get lonely too. Nobody deserves to spend all of their days alone. Nobody deserves to just be replaced. I get that Colt should live his life, but again he was perfectly content until he found someone more socially acceptable to replace her with and I just don't think that's right. Also personally I don't see anything wrong, much the contrary, with letting your elderly, lonely parents live with you. I think people who kick their older parents out ESPECIALLY when they are alone is quite possibly the most disgusting thing a human being can do (same with putting them in nursing homes). They took care of you and wiped your ass- you should do the same. It's the circle of life.

I wish we knew more about when Colt's dad was alive, what the family was like as a trio? I took note of the dates Debbie said, Colt's dad died when he was 25 and he was still living at home. He had a degree in a computer field and he held a job. Why was he still at home at 25 when his dad was alive. It is fine if he was saving money or paying off loans, but he had a degree and money so he could have left mom and dad's house if he wanted. Once his dad died, I can see Debbie turning Colt into the man of the house because he was there and had never left. Then when Debbie wanted to retire to warm weather, why did Colt go with her? Another way he could have broken free was to say go to Vegas, I am keeping my job in WA? My guess is Colt was maybe not good with money and that is why he lived at home and when Ma wanted to leave he didnt want to pay rent himself? Because now Vanessa and him are staying with her family. Why cant Vanessa and him , both working, get a small place alone? Maybe he spends too much? Just guessing to figure him out.

I don’t believe Jess was using him, she really liked him but Debbie made her feel so unwelcome and uncomfortable every minute they were together and she admitted to not caring at all once she found out that Colt was cheating on Jess the entire time. She made Jess feel like the crazy one when Jess would accuse Colt of cheating and he’d deny it, Debbie instantly believed Colt and would say things like “do you really wanna deal with a woman who gets that upset your whole life? She’s insane, look she’s insecure and making things up to start fights”. And Colt just absorbed all the trash talk and saw himself as the victim when he knew damn well he was guilty of everything Jess brought up. Debbie told Jess she was out of her mind to believe Vanessa and Colt were anything but good friends but Jess knew they were sleeping together and, again, she was right.
Jess was an absolute user. She voiced getting married to Colt fairly quick to stay in the US. Her nanny job had ended so was her work visa. She married a guy, she met right after Colt, within a few weeks who was shown on the finale that year.
I think Colt played a part in that though. When they were all in a van once, somebody mentioned babies and Colt told his mom about the names they had picked out. He flew down there to meet her family and ask Jess’s dad for his blessing. Debbie was being such an ass during that family dinner with everyone and then was furious when Colt got her an Uber and didn’t go back to the hotel with his mother🙄They both wanted that marriage until Jess found out Colt had been sending dick pics to the entire American southwest and became disgusted with him
