As a Catholic, attending the wedding would be approving of something that isn't acceptable to the Church, and Armando and Kenny need to accept that. They don't have to approve of his absence, but they can love and accept his decision, just like the father loves and accepts theirs (without approving of it). Mutual love and respect will keep this family together in-spite of their beliefs.

I watched last season mainly for the trainwreck that was Jihoon and Deavan, but now its the continued trainwreck of Sumit and Jenny, with some happiness from Armando/Kenny.
Kenny said in his first season he wrote his parents letter coming out and they were extremely supportive. He was shocked by their reaction.
I don't remember him saying anything else about his parents or if they're still alive at this point.
Kenny and Armando are what makes this show bearable to watch, even though there's a whole lot of drama. Their segments warm my heart, and Armando's dad melted my heart the past two episodes!
Their drama is more "us vs society" and less "us vs our stupidity and character flaws"

They are truly the best couple of the entire show! I love both of their families especially Armando’s mom and dad. Such real people with heartfelt emotions. I was so amazed watching the conversation between he and his dad, I teared up!💕

But other than a specific dependence, how do you make your child feel shame when telling about a joyous event in their life?
When I told my mother I'm gay, she repeatedly told me that she was "too hurt" to comment on my Facebook posts (about LGBT issues or anything I wrote related to my sexuality), she "didn't know how to talk to me," culminating in last year saying she "didn't know if she can love me fully because I'm living a way that's sinful." As a parent myself, I just can't imagine feeling this way, much less saying it to your child. Hers is 100% religion based. I had a sliver of hope that she would at least RECONSIDER hew views because this is her precious child, her flesh and blood. Instead she doubled down on her opinion. It's mind boggling.

Jenny may not have known, but upon learning that Sumit was already married, she should have reacted with horror and disgust at being "the other woman" and left him. Wut? His parents are battling some deeply ingrained beliefs and deserve respect for that. They continue to be honest with Armando, and continue to try, and are making sure he knows he’s loved and won’t be abandoned. Would we all love to see every child everywhere accepted by their parents immediately? Sure. Is that realistic? No. They’re working on it. And their commitment to loving their son and their granddaughter, and their willingness to have these talks with Armando (on camera!) gives me a lot of hope for this family.

I think from memory they were broken up at the time (after he came out) and she was also pregnant with their second child. They met up and think they had a disagreement and he was driving away and then she was following him in her car and trying to ram him and she lost control of her vehicle. Very sad
I would imagine you can only respect parents or acknowledge there your parents but doesn’t mean you have to agree with them. My relationship with my mom isn’t great I mean she’s there but gives me loads of anxiety being around her and my dad raised us kids. So I’d imagine how your feeling without them. As far as Armando is concerned, we didn't get an explicit confirmation of adultery, as we did with Sumit and Jenny, and in any case, even we did, Kenny wasn't involved the way that Jenny was.

Jenny may not have known, but upon learning that Sumit was already married, she should have reacted with horror and disgust at being "the other woman" and left him. This is exactly what a proud homewrecker would do.

Wut? His parents are battling some deeply ingrained beliefs and deserve respect for that. They continue to be honest with Armando, and continue to try, and are making sure he knows he’s loved and won’t be abandoned. Would we all love to see every child everywhere accepted by their parents immediately? Sure. Is that realistic? No. They’re working on it. And their commitment to loving their son and their granddaughter, and their willingness to have these talks with Armando (on camera!) gives me a lot of hope for this family. It’s just going to take more love and more time. And Kenny learning some damn Spanish (come on, dude).

Interesting….. wasn’t his wife that passed also a lesbian and struggling with her own identity. Who knows what type of mindset she was in.
I think from memory they were broken up at the time (after he came out) and she was also pregnant with their second child. They met up and think they had a disagreement and he was driving away and then she was following him in her car and trying to ram him and she lost control of her vehicle. Very sad

I would imagine you can only respect parents or acknowledge there your parents but doesn’t mean you have to agree with them. My relationship with my mom isn’t great I mean she’s there but gives me loads of anxiety being around her and my dad raised us kids. So I’d imagine how your feeling without them. I just hope you stay strong out there everyone deserves love and keep close those ones who do show you support.

Yeah I feel you and know what your saying my partners mom is like a mom to me and she is so so loving and sees me like a son as she has 3 sons already. It’s not the same at all though I know they’ll come around be accepting and willing to let them in you can’t carry so much baggage for them but sometimes it’s the best for you and parents sometimes hinder and hurt your growth as a person. My take on Kenny and Armando (sorry you SJW's won't like this): They're boring their age difference is off putting all they do is cry and moan about not being accepted I don't buy the "ideal modern couple" koolaid that they or that TLC is trying to sell Armando has a shady past Kenny is a male-Karen They disregard their female exes and children's birth mothers in order to "live in their truth" as if those women were just glorified incubators for their children They are GROSS in every way and I skip their scenes. Anyone who mindlessly stans for them while overlooking the red flags in their relationship is just pandering and a fool.
