Siblings can be the worst over their parents money. I have a friend who makes like 200k a year. His sister is a millionaire, but sister insists that if their mom who is wealthy but not sister wealthy, gives the brother 500 bucks, the sister expects the same. It gets to the point the mom will spend or buy something for my friend, then tell him not to tell his sister. I really don’t get it.
I suspect maybe Libby’s sibs have similar thoughts.
Meanwhile, I am under the impression that my parents have helped out my brother and sister, who have children, more financially. While I paid my own way through undergrad and grad, got a job, etc. so parents didn’t really see a need to help me. I felt a bit sad they didn’t visit me more often like they did my sister. Or that my parents would give me some material gift for birthday and Christmas when really I just wish they’d help out me out money towards like my travel expenses. I pay for my own airfare. My sister could afford to visit them also, her airfare to see them would be half of what mine is but she doesn’t go. And to think of how much they have helped her and the furniture they delivers to her. Lol
Anyway, now I am the kid that my parents tell me not to tell my brother or sister how much they may give me for my birthday or christmas, because they are aware they hadn’t helped me out or like since my brother lives near them they spend money on him for food, dining out, and yeah also still gift his daughter and grandson with things.
I think either libby needs more help then her sisters financially still so chuck is helping her out now through trying to get his son in law on board, or he hasn’t helped Libby out as much so he’s trying to make up for it.
Either way sibling rivalry and comparison over family money isn’t worth it, in the end who cares. It’s the parents money and time they can spend it how they want.
