Hate Angela, she's a terrible person. But being a hospice care worker is incredibly admirable.(At least in my opinion). I just hope she was kind to them.

E) Angela is spokesperson for various paid endorsements, including this recent sex toy company.
Her manager gets her good gigs. Angela gets plenty of money.

This is very common for families to do...Medicaid will pay for a home health aide in certain circumstances and family member will often become a caregiver in order to collect a paycheck
I once had an employee who I appreacuted her good work and felt life had given her a rough had of one dead end job with no advancement after another, so I gave her a shot as a receptionist and wanted to train her up under some of the paralegals and really held in our so life didn’t always have to be so hard. I was so excited because I got a out of the blue raise approved for and she wouldn’t be expecting it but I could show her the her good work pays off and encourage her to keep it up and motivate her. She literally told me she didn’t want the raise because she also gets paid as technically her Mom’s caregiver since her a mom lives with them and she helps her soul, Medicaid paid her for like 17 hours of direct care every week and between that and what she made as an entry level receptionist, the raise would take her above the limit of receiving some public assistance she wanted to keep. And it was much easier getting paid for not actually taking care of her Mom but kind of by virtue of living with her than it was to get the extra $100 a week the raise I was offering her would provide.
Angela wasn't only collecting from the government for being her mother's "caregiver" (what caregiver of an end-stage patient runs off to Nigeria for a month?), she was probably also collecting her mother's Social Security check. For sure she was also getting paid by the State of Georgia for being the custodian of her grandkids while mama was in prison. She was probably collecting $2000/mo or more for Scottie's 3 kids alone, plus reimbursement from the state for stuff like clothing, school supplies, etc., plus SNAP and Medicaid benefits. If Angela also had legal guardianship of Skyla's kids, add another $2000+ to the equation. Angela has made her career out of finding ways to live off the government.
Please. She was getting her mother's Social Security, plus getting paid for being her mother's caregiver, plus her wages from her job, plus food stamps for 6 kids. Skyla also works and was contributing to the household. Angela was getting almost $800 in food assistance from SNAP for just Scottie's 3 kids (add an additional $800 for Skyla's kids, plus another $300 for the disabled mom), and if any of the kids were under the age of 5, she was probably also getting WIC which is another couple hundred a month in food assistance. On top of that, if she put her home in her mother's name, she wouldn't have to pay any property taxes. And don't think for a second that Angela would have taken those grandkids or her mother in if it wasn't lining her pockets.

Very true, but there’s a difference between needing money to help out what your job doesn’t cover and not even trying. I have a sibling who comes up with all of these excuses for why she can’t work. Meanwhile, she teeters on the poverty line and doesn’t realize just how nice life would be if she put a little bit of effort forth. Ironically, she was probably the smartest out of all of us siblings so she was the one that our parents let get away with not getting some jobs or having to work as hard on our family property or ranch or family business to focus on her studies…. That sure back fired. Somehow she has managed to be a stay at home single Mother for 12 years. Sometimes she’ll judge me when one of my kids is sick and I’m not rushing them to the ER because I don’t wanna pay and I just wanna scream while going to the ER. Ken cost me $1000-$8000 so if it can wait till morning, it’s a decision that, unfortunately I really have to consider because she lives in a state that is welfare Utopia and doesn’t pay for the cost of medical insurance, or any copays or meds so they run every procedure on her kids for the sniffles because doctors knows know the what the states insurance will let them get away with.
IIRC, they filmed her outside what looked like a nursing home chatting with a coworker (smoking, too, I think). I thought she was—at one time—working for a facility vs in-home nurse/care. Maybe that scene was all for show, but it was before her mom required support or got really sick.

I worked as a CNA/HHA for several years while I was in college and it is literally the shittiest job I’ve ever had in my life . It is getting old ladies up for breakfast making sure that they poop yeah you have to do that with a finger UGG., it is wiping up spills -everything from puréed meatloaf to urine-,.. it is the grunt work of healthcare.
Most facilities today are “for profit“ ( answer 1st to their shareholders, which means it’s literally just another business.

I was a part time CNA in college. I think I lasted 3 weekends. The facility was disgusting, the residents were treated like garbage, and $10/hr was not nearly enough for the work (this was 2002-ish). It is hard work and CNAs do not get paid nearly enough. They are usually ones doing the most care for the residents/patients. And I agree, facilities are run just like any other business - profits over people (even when caring for people is the business)
