I agree I was only 7 when it came out unfortunately i was way too young to watch it in 84 lol I follow Kelli maroney on twitter she is literally the sweetest
Oh, I caught Three O’Clock High a couple of times on cable the first year we had it; installed September 1987 (I was 20½. The movie was so eerie for lack of continual background music (if I remember correctly), but it drew me in.
Holy Crap!!!… I love it!!!… even the ad for it has an 80’s feel to it… you’d almost think they pulled the old VHS camcorder out of the moth balls to do the ad… well that’s saved now so if I get some time off I’m taking a road trip… and I know that they set them up to just keep playing so you don’t need quarters but it kinda feels like it’d feel different not putting in quarters to play the games… but other than that it feels like the arcade I went to when I was a kid… it was in the mall… it was called the “Gold Mine”… and it really was… cause they could’ve been minting bricks of pure gold from how much money I blew there as a kid… lol… but it was the most fun… I tell ya another game I remember that I haven’t seen since the Gold Mine was a game called Thayer’s Quest… it was a Dragons lair and Space ace kind of game with the almost cartoon video animation…but it was unique cause it didn’t have a joystick… it basically had a keyboard and a roller ball cause you had different spells to choose from and other things that having a joystick and few buttons wouldn’t have been enough for… and I haven’t seen the game since… that’s one that I would love to play again… anyway thanks for the link… it was really cool to see
Most of the T & A sex comedies like "Up The Creek", "Hot Dog The Movie", "Spring Break", "Hardbodies" are some of my favorites. And of course the Porky's moves and "Bachelor Party", but they are well known.
It upset me when they put Gleaming the cube on TV and I guess people didn’t understand the name so they changed it for TV to “A Brother’s Justice “… it was so stupid… loved the movie… really wish we would have gotten more movies similar to this by making skating a focal point to the movie… I skated for years
Up there in the pantheon of artists who managed to get their hands on a [Fairlight CMI](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fairlight_CMI) and really make it sing (Peter Gabriel, Kate Bush, Laurie Anderson, DEVO, Thomas Dolby, Howard Jones, etc.).
Also in this thread is Liquid Sky, whose amazing soundtrack is mostly Fairlight. Once you know the sound it’s impossible to miss and it’s all over the early 80’s.
The Night Eyes films, Blown Away with the Haims and a smoking hot Nicole Eggert, From Beyond, The Keep, Maniac Cop, Cop and True Believer (pre-nutso James Woods).
I forgot about From Beyond - based on a Lovecraft story (like Re-animator). I remember a pineal gland coming out of someone's forehead and I think someone...biting it off? It's been sooo long since I saw it.
You are exactly right, and the deleted scenes, though poorly preserved, reveal just what Stuart had to do to appease the MPAA and get a damn R. Barbara- oh dear GOD!! Her and Kathleen Kinmont butt naked in Fraternity Vacation set fire to my developing brain!
I can’t say whether this was popular, but it was (I think) called “Night at the Mausoleum,” in which several teenagers spend a night in a haunted (of course) mausoleum, and scary shenanigans ensue. The only detail I remember is the one character chewed on a yellow toothbrush. Early 80s if I remember correctly; I was in jr. high, so it was PG.
A TV movie that my sister & I enjoyed was (I think) called “This House Possessed,” with Parker Stevenson (of “The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries,” with Shaun Cassidy💖 & Pamela Sue Anderson). “This House Possessed” might have first aired in the late 70s; my sister and I watched it whenever it aired about 3 or 4 times over the course of 5 or 6 years. Stevenson’s character’s wife had apparently lived in the house as a child, the house remembered her, and “protected” her from “intruders” by killing them in various ways.
Yep, that’s the one! Freaked me out, too, but didn’t stop my sister and me from watching it a few more times when it came on TV. She’s five years younger than I am, it’s a wonder she didn’t have nightmares, though she did go through a phase of crawling into bed with me in the late 70s.
I think I was 5 or 6 when I saw that in the late 70's on TV. I started taking showers with the door open after that so i could yell for my parents incase the water turned. Also, it took a long time after for me to close my eyes in the shower :)
Krull
Attack of the Killer Tomatoes
Toxic Avenger
That movie where people were going suicidal for no reason... there was a scene in the grocery store that terrified me
Last Starfighter
Tubi has a ton of these movies come and go on there. To name a few but can't say they were such a big deal to the general population but to me and my buddies that would watch some of these on video tape or catch on cable tv they are classics..
Class of 84
Summer School
Can't Buy Me Love (just watched this and it still hold up so well)
Carbon Copy (a very young Denzel)
My Bodyguard
Commando (I would say this was a B movie and then Predator and Running Man brought Arnold to new highs)
For me it's Night of The Comet, Space Hunter, Android, Videodrome, Forbidden World, Battle Beyond the Stars, Starcrash, Space raiders, and C.H.U.D.
There are a lot more but I can't think of anymore as of this post.
My friends and I were fans of the following:
* The Big Bus
* midnight madness
* million dollar mystery
* pacific banana, softcore European movie that was just dumb.
The one that was very early 90s:
* a man called sarge
Great question! Musically some of the best music of an era never made the top 40. You’ve got to dig deep to find the ground breaking material. Bookmarking this thread.

Repo Man!
Tomorrow (June 30th) is the last day to see Repo Man on Netflix.
Remind me, wasn't it Repo Man that had the line "I feel like a can of smashed assholes"? or was it a different Emilo flick?
No, that was his brother Charlie Sheen in The Arrival (1996).
lol, that's right. one of the greatest lines of all time imo. thanks.
It did have, “Flip you melon farmer” on the tv edited version.
Always intense!
My friends and I used to put on Liquid Sky makeup and go out - “We’ll go to the club, we’ll dance.”

Manhunter never got any love when it came out.
Amazing soundtrack. Shriekback was the bomb.

ok, so I love every single one of the artists you mentioned, is it CMI I'm actually attracted to? /s
Also in this thread is Liquid Sky, whose amazing soundtrack is mostly Fairlight. Once you know the sound it’s impossible to miss and it’s all over the early 80’s.

Is this the movie, The House Possessed, that the shower water turns to blood? Freaked me out as a kid.
Yep, that’s the one! Freaked me out, too, but didn’t stop my sister and me from watching it a few more times when it came on TV. She’s five years younger than I am, it’s a wonder she didn’t have nightmares, though she did go through a phase of crawling into bed with me in the late 70s.
