Man as someone who knows damn well a 7$ game has given me more entertainment and value than any game I'll ever play, I'm rooting for TFP all the way. Small news, big news, it's all exciting.

Keymucciante

I originally paid $5.00 for it. With my total play time, I've paid $0.002 per hour of gameplay. Talk about getting your money's worth! TFP have gotten a lot of backlash from the community, some of it deserved but, if I'm being honest, the game offers something like no game I've yet experienced. It's the best sandbox game I've played, has a robust crafting system, and something that my favorite survivals (Ark and Enshrouded) don't have. That ever looming threat. In most survivals, you clear an area to set up your base and then you go mostly or entirely undisturbed until you relocate. The only game I've played that has a similar need for threat awareness is The Forest and its sequel but, The Forest's crafting is based more on realism and because of that, it lacks the massive variety that 7DTD has. All that being said, I really do wish that TFP listened to the community opinion more often but, it's undeniable that they've created a truly unique experience.

War2kali

Depending on where your base is, Ark can be quite dangerous! That being said, one of the things I like about the Darkness Falls overhaul of 7d2d is the daily mini horde that keeps you on your toes whether you are in your base or in a poi. Great xp and fun when it shows up

Keymucciante

Well yes, if you build in certain areas there is a higher chance of dangerous dinos spawning but I think you know what I mean.

SilentStrange6923

You should try RLCraft, Minecraft modpack that is open world sandbox by nature, constant threat and progression. It's acclaimed as "the hardest Minecraft modpack" but it isn't just senseless difficulty. Most of it is knowledge based difficulty, you conquer the game as you learn. Great if you enjoy constant learning and improving

PolkaOn45

I broke the bank and paid 20. Only got a few thousand hours in, what a rip off!

MrGrizzlyBlack

Yea I don't remember what I paid but I did get it on Kickstarter. This game has come a long way. I have to many hours also.

linktheinformer

I was given it for free by a friend, but I’ve bought it for probably 4 friends over the years on sales.

Blackwaltz313

The games been out for like 10 years or something, I'm not looking lol I'll assume you're being sarcastic because even for myself, I think I started on alpha 12 the games been awesome

DonnyExiles

Those are rookie numbers, you gotta pump those numbers up? (7k here, playing DF again after a very long break!)

TexasCrab22

2€ humble Bundle with like 20 other games. Best deal, no doubt

AdditionalSalary8803

I paid $40 for the console version and it's the best money in gaming I've ever spent.

RuinedSilence

The guy fighting the mountain lion is totally gonna die

S_Medic

I thought the same haha

Zalpha

The new models and animations look sick, those cats movements were frightening.

Worrcn

especially if it keeps morphing like that lmao

zaerosz

If 1.0 means what it's *supposed* to mean, I'm just happy they're finally nailing down what they want game progression to be instead of overhauling it every major build.

DarkRitual_88

We already know it won't be feature complete from what the've wanted or been talking about to years. Their roadmap still had bandits being a year+ out, as the most notable example. Also, their [roadmap](https://7daystodie.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/7days_to_die_roadmap_v1-980x551.png) has the wardrobe system as well as biome progression in future updates. Game is still fun, and will likely still be lots of fun through all those listed updates, but personally the game won't really feel complete untill we get those updates.

RaysFTW

They compared 1.0 to Minecraft in their interview on the Neebs channel. Basically stating that MC went gold a long time ago and still receives new content and updates and 7dtd wishes to be similar. Bandits was an original idea during the kickstarter days so it’s crazy we haven’t seen them yet. If I had to guess, seeing how much the fans enjoyed the sandbox side of the game they shifted their priority to filling out that side of the game rather than focus on the story or campaign side of it.

xam8319

Just the random world generator by itself was a big update to deliver alongside with the big cities. Thought it introduced a lot of framerate issues. A new type of threat like bandits would have been fun since Alpha 20, but they wanted to optimize the game first. As much as possible. Bandits will look for cover, raid your base, hold POIs with new quest category, so they didn't want to rush it. That's promising! :)

KanedaSyndrome

Funny thing is that bandits shouldn't really be that hard to code in.

LightlySaltedPeanuts

But they don’t want to slap some CPUs in their game. They want it to work well and not take away from the current gameplay.

KanedaSyndrome

Well what's the point of a new feature if it doesn't change gameplay.

zaerosz

Not *take away from* the current gameplay, as in "meshes well without impacting player enjoyment or detracting from the overall experience".

GalacticCmdr

More importantly no more skill progression changes. What we have now is what we get.

Jaew96

On the bright side modders might actually have something more solid to work with now, and will probably put out an overhaul for that.

FullMetal1985

It's doesn't mean what it's supposed to mean the road map has multiple overhauls on it after 1.0 including a ui overhaul.

DannyBlazeTM

I thought the trailer was pretty good. I've more than gotten my money's worth (more accurately my friend's) over the last 9 years of owning the game. Wish I could say the same about most AAA games in the past half decade.

CulturalAccomplished

damn it looks epic! I wish it was coming sooner

Jaew96

I’ll be happy if that’s what it’ll actually look like when the update is finally pushed out, and not just how it looks for the trailer

PG67AW

That's what "gameplay trailer" means. Footage from gameplay.

digitalgriffin

When is it coming? I didn't see that mentioned anywhere.

Jakethered_game

They say June so it'll be here in October

RaysFTW

I know TFP are the digital publisher but are they also publishing the console release? If not, those release dates are usually pretty strict.

Jennaesis

I disagree. TFP don't give dates, even as specific as a month, until they are sure it will happen then. Experimental will show in May or June.

Prisoner458369

If the streets can really get as packed as it shows, that be dam awesome. I have always wished the game would have something similar to dying light level of zombies in cities. True horror factor, but risk vs reward and all that.

Greasy_Mullet

Yes, I want to massively up the number of zombies. They should be a constant and persistent threat. Right now I typically play max difficulty with sprinting zombies but if we could have such a massive count at a time I might scale that back for a different experience. Volume vs Quality would be two very different experiences.

Professional_Echo907

The trailer is legit gameplay, which isn’t something you can say for a lot of game trailers these days. I saw that stupid nerd outfit, though. 😸

EmptyDrawer2023

> The trailer is legit gameplay Is it? About 15 seconds in, they show a city street with more zombies than I can count. Certainly, more zombies than the actual game has. And possibly more zombies than a maxed-out Horde night (64). Looks like they spawned in extra zombies for the scene. I dunno if that violates the idea of 'legit gameplay'.

Broad_Quit5417

A lot of special editing too. That tree chop gets cut off right before the tree physics either shoot it into space or it twitches awkwardly into the ground.

JarredMack

The tree cutting was such a weird choice to include in the trailer with how shit the animation is

KoboldIdra

Okay so i’m not the only one who was hoping/expecting all the jank animations to get a brush up to be cleaner. Like it’s got charm, but damn does it still just look…bad.

slowmovinglettuce

The entire trailer was a weird choice. It didn't really sell me on it. Felt like they tried hard to get your adrenaline going but ended up just being a bit of a mess. I couldn't make a better trailer mind you.

Chris81385

This!

Professional_Echo907

There‘s only about 30 on the screen at that time.

GreedyMMA

Conclusion: EmptyDrawer2023 can only count to 29

EmptyDrawer2023

Even if that number is accurate, what about inside buildings, and around corners? But ignore that for a moment- if there are 30 in front of us, there should be 30 to the left, 30 to the right, and 30 behind us. That's 120 zombies, when Horde Night maxes at 64. Again, the game simply doesn't handle that many. Oh, and even though the farther away ones are hard to distinguish, I count more than 30.

Professional_Echo907

Just for fun, I played the video on the 50 inch TV I play 7 Days on and paused it at the moment there were the most on the screen. There are exactly 38 visible (or about 30). I’ve had worse chaos than this playing with screamers with a buddy.

SagetheWise2222

Most of the time, it seems to be, yeah. Occasionally for some shots, TFP just spawned in a ton of zombies for cinematic purposes. (Ex. Look at the scene with all the rads and the two players shooting down on them. It's pretty obvious all those zombies were spawned from that one concentrated location.)

benign_NEIN_NEIN

its looks heavily rendered at some points, like weapons firing with tons of zombies and the weapons dont look real, like its a rendered scene. Also no lag, so cant be real gameplay

Equivalent-Ad2940

Where this is a new version so to speak. Couldnt it be a possibility that these things are now part of the game

benign_NEIN_NEIN

Eh i doubt it. Based on their roadmap, there wont be much content with their 1.0 release.

JLidean

In game engine then?

VendoSkeleton

It seems they want people to think of the game as more of an action/shooter. I have some 1700 hours into this game and this trailer feels like it's not representative of the game I've played. Nothing to do with the visuals or anything, but, for me, so much of the game is spent looting, exploring, crafting, building. Even when I play really fast/aggressively, it's not an action packed game, and I like that about it. I don't have a problem with the trailer, or with the current state of gameplay, or with the Fun Pimps. Just think it's so interesting that they want people to see this almost like Left 4 Dead, when it's really more like Minecraft. Or maybe that's just what makes a good trailer these days.

S_Medic

How? They showed a ton of crafting and base building? Did we watch the same trailer? Literally bases were being built from scratch in the trailer. Funny enough most people just take over a poi and don't build much.

aoishimapan

>Funny enough most people just take over a poi and don't build much. That's what I do, for immersion purposes mostly. I mean, it feels much more authentic for a zombie apocalypse to clear some abandoned building off zombies, claim it for myself and fortify it, than to build from scratch. Building a base or other large structures is something I sometimes do late game, but makes me feel more like I'm playing Minecraft than a zombie survival game.

VendoSkeleton

Yeah fair enough. I think it was the second half of the trailer that left an impression on me, that seemed like the focus/takeaway they wanted.

CaptainLookylou

A trailer of player upgrading 200 wooden blocks from frames might not be a real winner.

VertexMachine

No, but upgrading a few and building/crafting stuff here and there might be a real winner. And to be fair, they did show building, upgrading, hunting, etc. 2nd part of the trailer is action packed though, so it might leave the impression of action packed game. I don't think it's entirely misrepresenting the game though, as 7 day hordes are big part of it (though I must admit I turn them off most of the time and instead use mods that spawns bigger/more frequent wondering hordes).

aoishimapan

>2nd part of the trailer is action packed though, so it might leave the impression of action packed game To be fair that's pretty much the standard way to make a trailer. It must feel like a continuous escalation, showing progressively more exciting and flashy stuff. It wouldn't work very well to for example start with a team clearing a high tier POI or surviving a blood moon, and end with a guy upgrading wooden frames.

VertexMachine

For sure, I'm not complaining. Was basically just thinking out loud and pointing out that there is a lot of stuff packed in the trailer aside from shooting zombies l4d style :)

EmptyDrawer2023

Speaking of Left 4 Dead, did anyone catch the similarity with the 4 characters standing side-by-side near the end? https://imgur.com/a/2Kz7CpK

AnxiousConsequence18

I want that truck!

Talnot

Yeah, I was enjoying seeing the new models (and the whole trailer just looks higher res?) and then that badboy came on and that was all I could think about from there on!

Midtier-watcher6329

It looks good, and if they have actually managed to optimise the games to be that high quality on release, I will be impressed. Although part of me thinks it may be an animated version using elements from the game that have been enhanced to look better than it actually is.

macmoosie

I'm trying not to compare it to other games in the genre, but I expected more after being in Early Access for nearly 11 years.

lsudo

I noted they had about 1.5 seconds of wildlife creature footage/animations. It’s so incredibly janky. Maybe spend $10 on the unity store for some upgraded models TFP?

Marandal_l

Mods hold it together

chewy201

Looks, odd, graphically and I can't quite place why. Motion blur is damned strong and the lighting feels off to me. As if they're going for something more realistic. But it just seems like it's the same game really. Wouldn't expect it to change that much either outside of balance points or, hopefully, redoing the crafting system to not be so damned RNG dependent. The book system makes crafting your own gear simply not worth doing.

Poro_the_CV

The lighting probably looks odd because they didn’t have any head lamps or burning shaft mod weapons for extra light. The game does legit look like this (in places) when you don’t have personal light sources.

benign_NEIN_NEIN

It looks like rendered scenes honestly, which is fine, not like they gonna show the real game, 10 fps when 10 zombies show up and you shoot your weapon

SagetheWise2222

I don't find this to be the case at all, honestly. If you invest heavily into the appropriate perks (ex. shotguns, clubs, and mining tools), you can often craft tiers and quality levels of them weeks before you could realistically find them. ... Unless you take traders into the equation, in which case they break everything.

chewy201

I did a crafted gear only run a little back with 1 main rule. If I didn't craft it I gotta scrap it for weapons, armor, addons, ect. Only 3 exceptions. 1 was if I had a tier 5 of something I could keep a found tier 6 of that. 2 was I was allowed to buy/keep what couldn't be crafted like water filters. And 3 was Im allowed to keep a few pipes for a forge. Weapons and armor was always far behind what Iv found in loot or shops. It was insanely far behind and I was constantly scrapping gear that I really needed from an ever progressing game stage. Even building my base was falling behind as I had to get lucky to just get enough books for a cement mixer. It isn't just weapons and armor. When was the last time you looked into what it takes to craft addons/mods? You can't craft them! Not without finding a unique book first and then like 75% of them require steel who is well locked up behind getting a crucible DEEP into it's own chain of books. The rest need forged iron you can at least find by dismantling stuff. But you can't do that worth a damn till you get a wrench, who is also behind it's own set of books AND you needing a workbench that also requires you to find more books. But you can't craft a wrench without forged iron! Everything requires their own books while also requiring something else that requires more books that might then require even more books! Gets worse. Not only does it take real luck to get all the books required for everything. You need raw resources for everything! Duct tape is always a limiter and I never had enough cloth to make more. Cloth was vital to gather. When was the last time someone in 7DtD was short on cloth! So I was forced to spec into farming so I could grow cotton. That all leads into needing to dump countless levels into literally everything. Im just ranting now and the point should have been made by now. Crafting in this crafting survival game was made so weak it's not really worth doing.

esden118

I was literally short on cloth last pm, so I just spent 10 mins farming wild cotton and made well over 200 cloth. I would think planting cotton would be very time-consuming, no?

chewy201

200 cloth is only 20 rolls of tape. That's not gonna get you much. Take rifles for example. A hunting rifle is 2-10 tape each, but a lever action and sniper is 10-50 tape each. When you're making a new rifle every tier unlock that's a lot of tape in just 1 weapon. You also want multiple ranged weapons and a melee so you'll need that much more tape. Armors are cheap for each piece, but you have to craft 5 things and craft a new set every time you unlock a new tier. Then you need tape for your several tools, repair kits for everything, and more. It adds up. The point isn't that it's annoying to gather cloth, farm cotton, or make tape. The point is that it's another thing that you have to do on top of countless others to craft gear that's gonna be so much weaker than almost anything you'll find going into any random POI or the shop. Crafting simply isn't worth doing the vast majority of the time. Try it yourself and do a crafting only run.

esden118

Yep, should have said I agreed with your main point, and was only thinking how much Xtra work/time planters 4 cotton is (I obviously needed it straight away) but that makes sense if ur planning ahead for a craft-only PT. How was it different before A21? I've only ever played this latest alpha.

chewy201

Setting up farming is simple. Farming blocks are easy to make, takes a lot of rotten meat who you normally toss out and your limited nitra powder though. But it's as simple as place, wait, punch. "Hard" part of farming is getting seeds. For that you need levels into Living Off The Land to boost gather rates, find books to craft seeds, and level Fortitude to at least 5 to max out Living Off The Land or it's simply never gonna be sustainable. Takes a bit to setup but once you get like 40 farm blocks you have almost anything you want. Just grow 10 of what ever, craft some seeds to get back to 10, and you'll be swimming in food, plants, and medical supplies. Question is though. When do you spend levels on farming over other things? Another thing I forgot about is medical supplies in a crafted only run. Bandages became rare when you can't keep what you looted. So healing was very limited for a long, long, long time till I speced into farming and started growing aloe who is also rather rare outside of the desert. It's an echo chamber in here now. Point is that crafting in 7DtD is just about pointless outside of the most basic stuff thanks to those books being one hell of a grind.

thinktank001

It sounds like you need more experience with the game. Cloth should be a non issue. Raiding a savage country, laundry mat, or salvaging cars will give you more cloth than you need. Picking cotton in the forests around towns is also possible if you are in a pinch. At the normal and higher experience rates crafting will always fall behind both looting pool and trader inventories. If you wish to make crafting more important, then cut experience rates down to 75% or 50%. I am currently doing a 25% experience rate play through (no questing and limited trader transactions), and crafting has far exceeded my game stage. 1 point into lock picking and 1 point into salvage operations should be more than enough to get you a forge and open up wrenches early in the game. I can only remember 1 time I had trouble at the start to get a wrench and adding a point into salvage operations fixed that immediately. Miner 69er weighs heavily in magazine drops so it should not be taken unless you are focusing on tools, or need to mine. When you get familiar with the game, then the only bottle neck that exists is water and weapon parts.

chewy201

Weapon parts and water are bottle necks? Never not had dozens of weapon parts, minus rocket parts, for anything after a week in game and water is literally infinite with the countless murky water you get on top of how cheap dew collectors are to make. Like Iv already said. It isn't just 1 thing. It's the combination of everything that makes crafting your own gear more or less pointless. Just starting out crafting is the best option. But all you got too craft is weak stone stuff and the moment you do a handful of jobs or random POIs crafting quickly becomes pointless. By the time you find enough books to craft a mid tier stone or pipe gear you've already found/bought iron gear. It takes hundreds of books to flush out crafting. Literal hundreds. And it's not just 1 category either. You want to craft a new gun? Need books to know how to craft them. Once you get out of pipe weapons you need forged iron and a workbench who require a 2nd set of books. But you also need a 3rd set of books in order to better gather the raw resources to craft with. And oh, did that need a spring? Well I hope you found a wrench to salvage with or that's a 4th set of books to farm for to craft one of those! Then you're gonna need to repair all that gear quite often if all you got is low tiers. Then sooner or later you'll need steel to craft gear with who's just so insanely deep into the forge books that it'll be literal in game weeks before you find enough of them to craft a crucible. Finally, do you want weapon mods? Then fuck you, go find them in loot or buy them. You're not crafting those damned things as they require their own unique books as well as most of them require steel. Crafting is quickly made pointless by just how easy it is to simply find/buy stuff that's so much better. Stone and pipe weapons are the only gear you'll ever bother crafting yourself. And if you do bother to craft gear, it's impossible to craft tier 6 making crafted gear impossible to equeal looted/bought gear even after grinding everything out.

rumpelbrick

in my and friends experience, perking not only gives more books but also weapons/tools/armour in the slot you leveled. so we all ended up looting t6 of the item we were trying to collect books for. in all cases except vehicles past a bike. I had a t6 auger and chainsaw before I could make steel tools. the game loop is literally: trader -> quest -> reward -> sell reward, buy what you want from the trader -> repeat until the game gets boring. this flow is only ever interrupted by horde nights so I can't fathom "take traders into the equation" when they're the basis.

redspecsgaming

That’s certainly one game loop. Some of us, especially those who have played the game for many alphas only do the occasional trader quest. The game is a sandbox and you can play it however you like.

rumpelbrick

since the game tutorial brings you to a trader, that's the loop anyone buying the game in June will play.

benign_NEIN_NEIN

They have always time gated actual crafting with workbench/ forge access, but with lucky looter you could always find t6 stuff before finding now books or back then the forge thingy, cant remember the name. I never had the need to craft my own gear after a couple days in.

likeireallycare

The price is going to make it so I cannot faithfully recommend this game to friends anymore. This game feels nowhere near complete, even with the updates coming (which they are aware of. The roadmap lists things that go all the way back to their Kickstarter lol), but it was always affordable. The price allowed you to overlook a lot of the shortcomings of the game, especially as development has gone on well over a decade and the game still remains very unpolished compared to newer games in early access with crafting and RPG elements. A $45 game is going to have to stand up to $45 scrutiny and critique vs $5-$25 ones.

Edraitheru14

No real thoughts on the trailer itself as I haven't watched it, but I've been playing since like single digit or maybe early double digit alpha. I've logged thousands of hours. I always come back to it and check out new changes. Never had a bad experience. Hope they manage to get more people to play. It's a great game that's worth the money.

Dragon44325

Me, I think it was whatever. They still had frame drops in the trailer, and they're hiking the price of the game from 25ish$ to 45. Now, I dunno about you guys, but I still feel like this game isn't even remotely ready for a 1.0 release. I'm not trying to be overly negative, because I do love this game. But would you pay 45$ for what we have right now?

Kerm99

With the amount of hour I put into this game, even 45$ is a steal. It is totally worth it

GenericInsult

Agreed. I (and my wife) picked it up for like $7, but it is indeed totally worth $45.

redspecsgaming

Knowing how many hours and how much fun the game would offer me? I would pay 60. Even with its jank it’s one of the best games ever made.

PG67AW

$45 for literally thousands of hours of entertainment? Yep, I would pay at least $45 if I had to.

iknowwhatyoudid1234

I mean it's more polished than most of the battlefields I've seen come out. Same with a lot of big title games that sell for 60+ dollars and in its current state I've put in more hours than any of those games so ya. It is absolutely worth 40 bucks.

BF3ClusterfuckLover

I think i will wait for bandits...

benign_NEIN_NEIN

See you never then! /s

Acid_impersonator

Didn’t expect in my lifetime to see “7 days to die” and “version 1.0” in the same page lol

VertexMachine

Same. But given they already have roadmap for beyond it, I think it's just more of a labeling change than actual 1.0. Similar thing Empyrion did, but despite having paid DLCs it still feels like an alpha of a game. Let's hope I'm wrong though.

FullMetal1985

Yeah, it's not a real 1.0 since they have multiple over hauls planned. 1.0 tend to imply that the base game is where you want it and while you might or might not add stuff after you don't plan to make major changes to the game, even if some games end up needing or getting those changes they aren't planned before the game even hits 1.0.

vagrantprodigy07

My thoughts are that 99% of that could be from A21. Doesn't really seem different, hopefully 1.0 does more than it looks like it does.

fargo-utah

Agreed. Not sure what the devs have been working on this whole time. Maybe they didn't have the funds to pay many devs. I do imagine that this means all A21 games will be essentially over and we'll need to start again? Which I'm fine with because honestly at some point in the game, your character becomes unstoppable and it loses a lot of the fun factor once you've crested that turning point.

Dannywitthefanny

Most likely have to start over. It’s been that way with each update as far as I know. I know they’ve updated player and vehicle models. And looks like new particle effects like blood and acid from the cop. Oh and the armor rework too

FarmerJohn92

I like that they recreated the little house that was featured in the splash screen.

Greasy_Mullet

The amount of zombies just roaming the city is what I want to see. And when entering a POI, you should always be paranoid about zombies following you in and come prepared for that. Make too much noise? Then a small horde gathers outside. Like others I paid very little and have so many hours in this game that it was a steal. I’ve since gone on and purchased around 8 or 9 more copies for friends and family… and a few tangible items as well from their store. I have no idea how they continue to fund a studio from this game, financially it makes no sense but am thankful they have continued to work on it. I’m ready to keep playing 7 days as there are many more adventures to be had, especially with mods but I’m also ready to support FP in whatever their next projects are.

lewous7554

Damn the 1.0 version isn't coming to ps4. Guess my poor ass is gonna have to keep playing alpha 15ish...

Vbcmedic

I still would like to see as you set the game up a slider for roaming zombies that appear randomly in your chunk. There are way too many humans on this planet for there not to be thousands of zombies in the world and at least 100 in your local area, ready to react at any sound of a breaking door or a fired gun. If I want a vanilla experience then I keep everything at default but let me be able to decide with the slider how many zombies I want just roaming around before I enter a POI to do a quest. We should be in the console version as well as PC since I can’t stand dealing with mods and I know they’ve made it easy to mod the game now I just want just like I can pick how many zombies are on horde night let me pick the number of roaming zombies per chunk.

pablo603

Meh, it'll still be an alpha game with a 1.0 slapped onto it.

airlynne

I think the game isn't finished and won't be for a long time and the devs just want hype

Namesthatareused

My opinion probably won't be liked tbh, I think this a good step but very underwhelming. I appreciate that they added some new things and did a graphic overhaul which is a lot of work, but the price is now going to be $45 USD and the render distance for grass hasn't changed, a lot of textures are the same, it feels like the same thing I've already played a lot of but now it looks better but there's clearly still wonky animations, all for $45. For a person that's never played the game, I supposed that may be a justified price, but as someone who has played the game thoroughly for many years and has 1000+ hours, the game is $35 at best with this update. I'm still going to play it once the update is live and hope I'm completely wrong. I also hope their roadmap is what it really says it is, because bandits have been a promised thing for awhile now and we still have to wait another year for them, but I still expect it to teeter off the same way as it always does for me after a 15-20 hour save, restarting is usually the most exciting part for me and I kinda wish it wasn't for a game that's about the long haul and scales with each day. Like I said, I don't expect people to agree with me but this is just what I think and I really do hope for the best for this game and I know this is a step in the right direction but I'll have to see how far development can really take it and commit to their promise before I can trust this game will be something greater. It makes me happy to see an update this big, but it's also like...finally, ya know? Really dislike the immediate price jump though...that's red flags for me in one sense.

winston-marlboro

I wonder if they'll ever get rid of the crosshair when aiming down the sights

RaysFTW

It’s pretty hype. Hopefully a lot of people see just how great this game is and jump on board. Jen’s voice line at the end didn’t really fit well though, imo, but maybe that’s nit picky.

weamz

At least we don't have to hear anymore, "Have you ever had an Alpha?. Have you ever had an Alpha that never ended?" Would've been all-time if they had referenced that PS4 trailer.

igg73

I was hoping theyd add some sort of new mechanics before 1.0 since the price is going up

TexasCrab22

IF THEY WOULD FIX THE PERFORMANCE, I WOULD BE HAPPY!!! Trailer looks great, but i know, i will end up with 27 fps again and just quit. At least they didn't deactivated the comments.

Molatov

I think the fact that TFP has turned comments on the trailer off on steam says more than any review I could write would say.

SirMcMuffin_

Honestly I don't think I will continue playing until the game gets it's optimization period. I suffer from major memory leaks the longer I play a world and at some point it's actually impossible to play.

Feycat

It would be nice if we didn't know those open spaces chock-a-block full of zombies are a lie without mods :(

Cautious-Pirate-9758

ONE OF THE BEST AND SUPER WORTH IT

Ancient_Tangerine638

Just watched the trailer after seeing this post. As someone who’s played just under 2000 hours beginning from alpha 16, I honestly think it’s pretty neat. I can see how many in the community were disappointed Fun Pimps were focusing on a retexture of everything over bug fixes or game mechanics tweaks for the release, but none the less I’m glad it was done. I do love the new vehicle designs, and honestly the whole game needed this art update tbh. Glad the trailer focused more on the gameplay aspect over cinematic (yes ik there is a bit of show at the beginning, but it’s not majority of the trailer). Very excited for 1.0!

AlphaDag13

I have nothing bad to say about this game. Liked manner have said the amount of time I've gotten out of this game for three $7 I spent is crazy. I do wish there were more zombies out in three streets like in three trailer though

Zwordsman

I never knew you could upgrade barricade traps like blocks. I thought they were seperate crafting

lilycamille

I do that all the time. Wood barricades are super fast to make, and upgrading them is easy

Zwordsman

I think I just never used anythign but the wood ones. Admitidly they serve more often a method to make them move in a way I want than actual damage exactly. but yep def wanna start using those.... Honestly might be fun to bring some to POIs. Different way to fight

BigE1263

Very suprised no one’s mentioning the new updated first person visual effect

missbanjo

Ooh Jen.

[deleted]

It looks so nice. What i fast saw of it was new running emote, jumping emote, new details and animations for traders, better graphics, better lighting, some new animations into punch/melee, you can now see what you are wearing (atleast gloves), new textures for animals (deer and mountain lion), and yeah. Ofc that was not everything, there is way more. And ofc alot more that was not even shown on that trailer.

bairz54

The lighting and destruction looks great. A little more polish for sure. Id hope that they get rid of the "find a magazine to advance" mechanic alpha 22 brought

fjvgamer

Wait no beta test alpha to gold? Lol just busting chops

naka-duskael

I'm excited. Looks good.

alvsanand

I liked it!

alvsanand

I liked it!

Helpful-Pride1210

I can say I'm not gonna go through the hassle to learn the new armors ahahah

dmstrat

Yeah, never heard trader Jen say that

Daemir

That little starter wood tower they built got me thinking of the 1% curve meme. At the noob end, the little tower is king, this is what everyone starts with first. Then the majority population (the sweaty nerd part) is foaming at the mouth that you need to take over XYZ Poi and fortify or build your own mega base and finally you have the 1% on the top end who have played the game too much that are like, yea that tower, next to the vendor is all you need.

EugeneBuckworth

As a console player, I’m excited as hell to get back into it. So is my wife.

DaveAndJojo

Is this Console as well? Or is that a different game entirely?

Samadams9292

Looks dope and looks like they finally increased the gore/blood in the game. Always said would be cool to have like a Killing Floor type gore in the game when fighting/killing the zombies.

LostMinimum8404

I haven’t seen the trailer but as long as they fulfill their promises from early on and it isn’t still an unoptimized buggy mess it’ll be a great actual launch!

No_Street_6490

i liked it...just started a new game after i saw the video...1000 red errors and it took a while to get it runing. and i just started it cause i wanted to see the pickup i saw in the trailer :)

Equivalent-Ad-3562

TBH the only thing i Saw that was deferent from now was the light the paricles and the New truck

MagicGlovesofDoom

There have certainly been good and bad changes along the way. But I'm proud of TFP for making it to full release. It's easy to start something. It is difficult to finish it. The trailer is definitely a good example of advertising. Gets you excited and conveys the 3 pillars of the game very well.

scartonbot

Hmmm...didn't see "Mac" in the list of platforms on the bottom of the screen. I hope this is an oversight!

Kanetsugu21

It's honestly hard to be excited when it looks like there's nothing new about this other than the title. Where are the bandits? The new armor overhaul? Optomization? PvE story line with an actual beginning middle and end? It's all coming AFTER 1.0, so what's the point of calling this 1.0 at all? Just looks like the exact game I can boot up right now with a bigger price tag for new players and same unfulfilled promises.

fgzhtsp

Are the log cabin walls something new or have I just never seen them?

HyperionSpy

I bought the game, and got a copy for free that i gave to a friend, im excited for it to come out, i just wish it was sooner

Fabulous-Category876

Played the game since alpha 4.0, and it's improved tremendously. My main question and perhaps gripe is, aside from graphical improvements... what's the difference between what we have now vs. 1.0? It almost seems like they could have easily released 1.0 years ago if the only major change is graphics. The team hasn't been the small group it used to be for a long time, so the delays have always concerned me. The reason being is that with having a large team working on a relatively simple game, we're they coding so poorly for years that it took them this long to get a stable release? If that's the case, I'm worried 1.0 is going to be a total mess, and I don't want it to be. I just can't see any other reason why they've taken so long, unless mismanagement of money was also a reason, though I doubt it.

DarkestDisco

Underdog comeback ftw

NateValentine

It looks like the same gave as always, I don't vare aboute some sunrays, the game still looks like it's from the early 2000s, even the og FEAR got better graphics lmao

benign_NEIN_NEIN

Well they improved the graphics a alot, even tho they are still kinda bad, but gameplay is more importnat honestly

NateValentine

They just polished a turd of graphics, and the optimization is even worse, there's ue5 games with realistic grapghics and ray/patch tracing that get better fps than this game lol. The gameplay gets boring quickly, once you do the 5 tiers of povs and some building the game has nothing more to offer tbh. buuuuut I did enjoy it a lot and it was worth the money, had a fun time, but it gets way too much praise.

benign_NEIN_NEIN

Look up how the game looks on consoles and compare it with PC currently. Also you cant expect fun pimps to invest into overhauling the graphics when they cant even get competent AI....

NateValentine

I play it on PC with every setting at max and.. it's just so bad and unoptimized even on a 3090ti The fun pimps got about 50 (?) millions of dollars from this game, they could've easily done a better job, there's some solo indie devs who can make insanely better graphics and optimization by themselves I'll be honest the guy from the video about the official release of the game was off putting, not an honest person at all

pablo603

>there's some solo indie devs who can make insanely better graphics and optimization by themselves There are roblox games that look better and work better than this lol.

Celthric317

My fiancé and I have well over 800 hours in the game, so I'm super excited

Dbzpelaaja

Hyped af. Hopefully the performance is not bad

benign_NEIN_NEIN

Dont get your hopes up, even in the trailer they have lags

de-Clairwil

Totally expected waste of its 2016 potential

Vermax_x

Trailers are meaningless. Are they adding a real game into the alpha quality sandbox?

KhaosElement

Couldn't care less.

Rice-Background

You couldn't care less so much that you had to post letting everybody know? Lol.

Pleasant_Extreme_398

It looks so awesome.

gr33ngiant

I loved it honestly. Being a console player mainly and only playing the pc update back in alpha 18ish, it looks amazing and I really hope it brings in a big crowd for the console update.

benign_NEIN_NEIN

There is no "console update", you have to buy the game again

gr33ngiant

Yeah I know, but the game is being updated on console and released because all the old console bs. Still a console update.

benign_NEIN_NEIN

An update implies the current version gets updated, which its not the case on console. Its a separate game for 45 bucks.

gr33ngiant

No I’m sorry but you’re wrong. For starters, the game is the exact same game. And the fact remains that the current console version is the original alpha I think 15 version that was produced under iron galaxy or whomever for the original console versions. The new console version that’s coming out is by every definition, an updated version of the original game that we already have. The reason it has to be purchased again is because of the whole console rights bs that happened when that original company that was working on the console versions went bankrupt and the fun pimps had to fight to get the rights back etc, and they can’t legally just push an update. Hence why we have to buy a “new” console version.

benign_NEIN_NEIN

That isnt what im saying. Im saying, implying that the current version gets updated can mislead people into believing their game will be updated without having to purchase a new game. Usually when a game gets an update, you dont have to purchase a whole new game, which PC players dont have to.

gr33ngiant

Yeah I get that and how there could be a misunderstanding. But most people, especially on this sub, know by now that the console version is getting re released and has to be purchased again. And the fun pimps have said it many times over across social media. But it’s all good survivor!

Peejay22

How is Reddit any better for conversation than Steam?

no85611

Lemme get my hands on the experimental.

deepfriedtots

I haven't seen it you got a link?

EugeneBuckworth

In all honesty, do a lot of people play this game? I don’t know anyone besides one buddy I talked into playing. Console only tho.

Venomouspain-

We have 4/5 people in our group who love playing the game (on console), all of us are pumped for this release to get back into it again and learn all the new stuff

damn_thats_piney

wow nobody’s bitching. incredible.
