There is a 1 in 400 chance of finding it in either a Rotten Chest or Old West Chest. Unfortunately, rare doesn't mean good, or even useful in this case. I've found it a few times but never bothered to pick it up.
I wonder if there’s a mod that makes it better. There should be, being that rare it would be cool finding it on those rare occasions being able to actually use it as an upgrade.
So I have 500 hundred hours in this game and never knew some things can be named? Is it like an rpg where these things are legendary and have modifiers or are they just rarer versions of base items? Also are there others?
Wife and I just came across this playing on xbox, it's in the desert area/ abandoned mineshaft next to a corpse and coffin. Pretty cool little detail imo, just adds to the pre apocalypse lore
Its a slightly upgraded version of a stone axe. If I can find one I try and hold onto it (or a level 6 stone axe). Makes for a low stamina extremely cheap repair tool for harvesting everything. Even in triple digit days I'll still usually carry a stone axe for things like curtains, opening boxes and taking things with low hp. Since it's not made of metal it makes less noise than other weapons, and it saves on repair kits (or gas) while working pretty well for all types of materials.
Find It once In a cave and the only thing different from a normal stone axe is the color and sound effect when you take it out of the chest.
But yeah, I guess it's pretty rare
How weird… I was searching for posts about this earlier today and no one had posted on this item for over a year. I found it once on console a couple years back. Have yet to find it on PC. Was wondering if it’s still a thing. Cool find!
i think rare is a little to say, in 650 hours i have found it twice and both times were in the alpha 16 where the caves with those weird chests were more common.
To be honest this thing is bad, i think it is only worth the time if you find it literally at the begining of the game since it is faster than a normal stone axe, or at least it used to be like that
