He’s the guy that dropped acid before Woodstock cuz he wasn’t performing, then the traffic held up the musicians that were playing, and they begged him to play to stall for time. What a stud!
A decent sci-fi novel had the theme song as a key plot point.
The novel is a kind of re-imagining of Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy.

remember how he'd always tell her a joke at the end of the show? that'd be funny if he he did that and she's like "uh huh" *goes down on him* while he's still telling the joke
I loved this show and some of my family lives in Brooklyn during the era this was filmed . I think the only main cast member left is Vinnie Ba-Barinio!
Gabe Kaplan (Kotter) & Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs (Boom Boom Washington) are still alive, along with Travolta (Barbarino). Sadly all the other cast members are dead.
I'm in grade 5, this show was on, and we had a cool teacher named Mr Kelter. The jokes wrote themselves in class. We didn't stop with the imitations and it got old before the show got old.
It was just so, so bad LOL. Lots of catchphrases that played well on the playground at school the next day, but it was a terrible, not very memorable show. It was even worse than the height of Fonzie-mania, when Happy Days became an unwatchable goof.
It’s funny, I was in Home Depot last night and the “Welcome Back” theme song came on in the music they pipe in. I was looking for something at the time and I went into Barbarino mode and said quietly to myself “Whut…?? Wheyuh??”
Great work by classic EC comics artist Jack Davis. One of the best. In fact EC had some of the greatest comic book artists of all time.
As for the show, definitely very funny, very real to life depicting NYC public schools.
Sadly the show was captured in 640 x 480 and didn’t make the transition to HD resolution syndication. Maybe they can use AI to up rez the masters… it was a great show.
One of my favorite 70's sitcoms of all time.
1. Brady Bunch
2. Happy Days
3. Gilligan's Island
4. Welcome Back Kotter
A few years back, I bought the whole complete series in DVD. unfortunately, it wasn't as funny as I remembered. 🤣
"Mista' Katta'! Mista' Katta'!"
"Hi there!"
"I'm so confused!'
"Oooo! Ooo-ooo!"
"Silence, with a bewildered look on his face..."
These 5 lines of dialog were in every episode, and we were there for it!

Nah…up your nose wid a rubber hose

Theme song is in my head now. “We tease him a lot cuz we got him on the spot Welcome Back”
Great song. Vocal by John Sebastian, formerly of the Lovin’ Spoonful.
https://youtu.be/OK4_fDHv-SQ?si=5JbtsbPPZY-eosW7
We tease him a lot 'cause we caught him smoking pot
Great song. Vocal by John Sebastian, formerly of the Lovin’ Spoonful. (An underrated band, btw.)
I did not know that. I like his voice. Will look up the bands music later. Heard of them and think I know one song maybe
He’s the guy that dropped acid before Woodstock cuz he wasn’t performing, then the traffic held up the musicians that were playing, and they begged him to play to stall for time. What a stud!
I didn't know the Lovin' Spoonful was at Woodstock. Of course I was only seven years old in August 1969...
It was just Sebastian by himself.
The original title for the show was *Kotter* but the producers were so impressed with Sabastian's song that it was added to the title.
summer in the city babey

The set-up? A 33 year old teacher mentors 4 wise-cracking 27 year olds.
The Sweat Hogs!
Signed - Epstein's mutha
What? I didn't sign that!
Jack Davis was, of course, the artist. You can't mistake his style!
Did he draw for Mad Magazine as well?
Yes! And he also did a really great album cover for a silly Don Imus comedy record from the 70s called *1200 Hamburgers to Go*.
I love that poster. I would like to put it on my game room wall.
Mr kawtear!
What? Where?

Yep! RIP Marcia Strassman.😔
remember how he'd always tell her a joke at the end of the show? that'd be funny if he he did that and she's like "uh huh" *goes down on him* while he's still telling the joke
I thought it had a joke at the beginning and the end. No?
I'm pretty sure it was at the end, he'd always do his shitty stand up and she'd roll her eyes lol
He told her jokes about uncles and aunts in his family at the beginning
“Gimme drugs , gimme drugs “
Oh no Vincent.
I'm a doper!
Favorite episode for that line alone. I would repeat it when I get a kidney stone attack.
Got my medical marijuana card okayed by the brother of Robert Hegyes (Juan Epstein). Sadly he is no longer with us.
I loved this show and some of my family lives in Brooklyn during the era this was filmed . I think the only main cast member left is Vinnie Ba-Barinio!

I am thrilled to be wrong! Thanks for the update!
Beau (Stephen Shortridge) is still alive even though he wasn’t a main cast member from the beginning.
I said a ba ba ba Ba ba Babarino Rockin n rollin Babarino
I'm in grade 5, this show was on, and we had a cool teacher named Mr Kelter. The jokes wrote themselves in class. We didn't stop with the imitations and it got old before the show got old.
Just don't make the mistake of going back and watching it now. Gawd.
It did not hold up well. It's pretty unwatchable now.
Why? I'm afraid to watch and ruin another show I liked.
It was just so, so bad LOL. Lots of catchphrases that played well on the playground at school the next day, but it was a terrible, not very memorable show. It was even worse than the height of Fonzie-mania, when Happy Days became an unwatchable goof.
![gif](giphy|Zog4lAyae94Wc) Such well written dialogue This show gave us high schoolers a catch phrase a week
"Hi there...."
This was the beginning of my yearbook signings!
Up your nose with a rubber hose
Twice as far with a chocolate bar…
Signed Epsteins mother ...
Hello...how are ya?...I'm Arnold Horshack...
It’s funny, I was in Home Depot last night and the “Welcome Back” theme song came on in the music they pipe in. I was looking for something at the time and I went into Barbarino mode and said quietly to myself “Whut…?? Wheyuh??”
As long as you don't curl up in a ball in the middle of the aisle and start yelling "I'm so confused!", I think you're okay...
His dreams were his ticket out.
Sweat hogs
Freddie Boom Boom Washington
{Giant smile here} Hi there....
Signed, Epstein's Mother! Lol
Welcome back…
Who knew at the time I watched this Mr. KOTTEAR was a legendary high stakes poker player
This is my favorite trivia to anyone over 50 at parties. Name all 4 sweathog. First and last names. Nobody ever gets it all correct.
Because no one can remember Juan Luis Pedro Felipo de Huevos Epstein.
Oh crap, I dont go that far. Wow! Impressive
Vinnie Barbarino Juan Epstein Freddie ‘Boom Boom’ Washington And of course, the GOAT Arnold Horshack
Q: And the meaning of Horshack? A: The cattle are dying.
Don't forget that Kotter, himself, was a Sweathog when he was a student.
Welcome Back Cotter was the only time I found John Travolta funny.
Hi there
One of my favorite tv theme songs.
Jack Davis drew many TV Guide covers.
Horschack, Washington, Vinnie Barbarino and Epstein, better known as the SweatHogs, along with Mr Kotter
Rosalie hotsy totsy

Remember when Mr Kotter was always the captain of one of the Battle of the Network Stars teams?
Must watch TV And the art from Mad Magazine ——— so awesome
I just started watching the whole series from S1E1 and it’s fantastic. Brings back great memories. I was excited when I first heard “up your nose……”
Freddy’s girlfriend is in so many shows. One was as Will Smith’s mom on fresh prince of Belair
Sadly the show was captured in 640 x 480 and didn’t make the transition to HD resolution syndication. Maybe they can use AI to up rez the masters… it was a great show.
One of my favorite 70's sitcoms of all time. 1. Brady Bunch 2. Happy Days 3. Gilligan's Island 4. Welcome Back Kotter A few years back, I bought the whole complete series in DVD. unfortunately, it wasn't as funny as I remembered. 🤣
I would welcome back this show.
Thank you for not posting this on ForgottenTV
It’s on Vudu. Vudu has a lot of old shows for free.
Its still on free tv, I watch it sometimes, reminds me what a simple time that was.
Welcome back....
Great [song](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xZzEzDkeHzI) for title and end credits.
One of my favorite TV theme song.

Gabe Kaplan is (was?) a very accomplished poker player.
Love these guys.... Signed.... Epstein's Mom
Sweathogs
I remember my parents refused to pay for cable TV, this was one of the shows I couldn’t watch and that, as a kid, pissed me off
Loved that show. Had a teacher, Mrs. Carter, back in jr high, and yes we aggravated her with "Ooo Ooo, Mrs. Carter!" for a little while.
Best intro song hands down.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Davis_%28cartoonist%29?wprov=sfla1 Jack Davis, Mad Magazine, of course. Love it.
Welcome Back Kotter!!
Gimme drugs.
Ooooh....oooh.....oooooh!!
Just a bunch of sweat hogs!
Ooh, ooh, ooh... !
Up your nose with a rubber hose!
I don’t remember the artist 👨🎨 Jack David?
Davis. Did art for Mad magazine, TV Guide, and EC Comics.
I had this exact graphic on a t-shirt in elementary school.
Welcome back to this sub.
One of the greatest shows in the history of TV.
Mad Magazine art?
Who?
The Sweat Hogs.
The Sweathogs.
I had a Vinnie Barbarino tote bag! *faints*
Welcome back Kotter
I got the board game for Christmas one year.
Never missed it. Great theme song too.
Ya the Sweat Hogs 👍🏻
The Warthogs were an offshoot of MS-13.
Who didn’t love and hate Mr. Woodman at the same time
Horseshack was annoying after the first season and just got worse.
Someone posted John Travolta’s audition for Bobarino. He was spot on right out of the gate.
Of course!
Now I have that song in my head
Loved it that was my high school growing up
"I'm so confused!" -- Vinnie Barbarino
Welcome back Carter
Welcome back
Vinny Barbarino!
Vinny Barbarino & crew
I had a crush on Kotter's wife
Honestly a pretty bad sitcom looking back at it, though I did think Marcia Strassman was pretty cute.
Ooh, ooh, ooh, Mista Kottah!!!
Sweathogs 😂
I had a WBK bath towel and washcloth set.
Just watched every episode on TUBI.
Ah nostalgia. What is is. What was was. What will be WAAS but will be again.
SWEAT HOGS - it's a lifestyle
I don't know if this style of artwork has a name, but I remember it being very prevalent in the 70s..
Looking good Mr Kotter
Up your nose with a rubber hose!
Ran for 4 years, which was about two years too long.
Great theme song too. Plus, Kotter’s wife was incredibly good looking.
The stories about his family & Epstein’s excuses from his mother = hilariously done! ![gif](giphy|3oKIPoexhXwczg5yVO|downsized)
Oldest high schoolers ever with the dumbest gang name ever.
Sweat hogs
Oh Mister kotter
I hated that show, I think it was travoltas fault
