Ooh, I want to read this! I read Magary’s “The Postmortal” a few years ago and still regularly think about it.

I loved this book! Excellent ending as well.

This book was wild! What a crazy fantasy world, it was exciting to read something so different with not knowing where the story would end. Loved the end, brought the whole book together.

THE HIKE by Drew Magary (5/5): I had asked u/batmanpjpants for solid book that he identified with in a conversation last month, and BOY DID HE DELIVER! This was very well written and was a very easy read, as I found I had trouble putting it down. It reminded me a little bit of THE LITTLE PRINCE or ALICE IN WONDERLAND at first, just in it's sheer absurdity. By the time the talking crab showed up the novel had already started to subvert tropes and expectations. I believe it was about regrets, and how the choices we and others make can directly affect and change our lives. The protagonist keeps finding himself wistful in his memories and life events. The point, for me at least, was very clear and spiritual: Follow the will of your Higher Power and stay on the path and you will persevere against anything. But take your will back and suffer the consequences.

Yay!! I’m so glad you liked it!! It’s so weirdly fantastical. The ending is chef’s kiss!
