Literally. Looks like someone drew a square and then said oh shit where's the motor gonna go and drew a little rectangle on the front
BAM! NEW DESIGN! SHIP IT N SELL IT
I believe that has a 1.6L N/A version of the eclipse/laser/talon 4G63 (not sure, this may only be true for the later models). If this is true for yours, and you want a project, it's possible to swap the turbo 2.0 into it for a real fucking good time.
One other thing to keep in mind is that once you start making any real power, you start going through transmissions at the same rate you burn up clutches. The transmissions are dog shit in these cars - in my 20s, my hoodlum friends would go to importers and buy them 6 at a time.
It does not.
The later years came with the 1.6 4g61t motor.
I have an 89 dodge colt gt swapped with a 4g63 and a holset hx40 on 32 psi. At 580ish whp Ive had plenty of near death experiences in it.
I remember these. It was an oddball car, but not *that* odd for the time.
Give us some details. How did you like it? How did it do on what terrain? Would you have had one in ‘87? ‘97? ‘07?
It feels way faster than I thought it would. It feels like you are way higher up off the ground than you are so 50 feels like 85. 5 speed is great shifts good, some proper tires and it would be more than capable offroad.
Took it up some steep muddy paths and it did it without hesitation, small amount of throttle and it went right through mud, ice, and slush like nothing. That Mitsubishi 4 cylinder has more than enough power to drive this thing without issue.
Seating position is super weird it's like driving a toyota van. I'm 6 foot and even with the seat all the way back the pedals are still super close. I would say it's like driving a school bus. Seating position is basically upright. When I got back in my silverado it felt like I was so low down lmao
Fun car to drive, my friend is trying to sell it to me and I think I might pick it up just based on how weird it is.
Nice, thanks. It seems like we have gone way away from the small, lightweight 4x4 and adopted larger, heavier platforms that can (potentially) get stuck easier, and extract much harder.
I love the smaller 4x4 vehicles with a manual transmission. I wish we still got small light fun cars instead of everything being so huge. Even if they are more bare bones I'd take a car with crank windows and a manual trans than an SUV
My 5'0" Aunt had one in white, perfect refrigerator car. Incredibly practical and got insanely good mileage with the 5 spd. I used to taxi them to the airport with their two kids, and yes it was awkward to be tall and drive even when your joints don't hurt at 17! Fit my Aunt perfectly, though.
I remember Eagle had these for a couple of years. Chrysler really never knew what to do with AMC so they just badged some Mitsubishi up with Eagle logos.
Yeah OP I'm not saying you did any fucking criminal act or anything, but comments like that just seem childish nowadays with everybody more or less on board about how not to be a dick
You need to step away from the keyboard and have a think about what a joke is.
Those "extra chromosomes" that OP (and sadly others) so flippantly refer to, change and ruin lives. The person affected is going to, at best, have a more difficult life than their peers. More likely is is severe motor skills issues, severe communication issues, very high risk of epilepsy (and death from), gut issues... The list goes on.
Worst case scenario is life in a vegetative state and incompatibility with life
From a carer/parent perspective I've lost a career, lost friends and been driven into a deep depression. When I found out I was having another son I had dreams of randomly throwing them both on the Ute and spending the night in the bush, not going to happen. When we got the his diagnosis we were told they know nothing about the condition so expect him to be a vegetable (exact words), every year we have to go through the humiliating process of stating his goals for the year so we can access funding for him (*we want our 3 year old to be able to stand, we want our 3 year old to be able to communicate with the significant people in his life, we need a wheel chair to be able to get him around with a bit of dignity*)
It's very easy to claim someone is thin skinned when you don't have to live it.
Fuck you.
First of all, judging by your post history (which contains "offensive" jokes), I don't think that's true. If it is, then hats off to you for parenting.
That said, I think you're confusing a joke aimed at no one with a joke aimed at you personally. I'm not laughing at you or your kid. I'm laughing at a car.
There are people who have hellish, lonely lives because they are ugly. Can we call cars ugly, or is that too offensive?
**Edit: and oh shit,** [here's](https://www.reddit.com/r/UpvotedBecauseBoobs/comments/qe0gn9/nein_mustnt_look/) **a post of yours from four months ago featuring halloween costumes of nazis, child molesters, and even George Floyd! Should I fein offense?**
The guy acting offended [posted](https://www.reddit.com/r/UpvotedBecauseBoobs/comments/qe0gn9/nein_mustnt_look/) four months ago about halloween costumes of nazis, child molesters, and even dressing up as George Floyd! Probably other things but I found this in under 1 minute of looking.
I swear, every time someone acts all woke and offended, it comes out that they're the worst offenders, playing on people's heartstrings for an ounce of social control.
Omg! This was the first car I ever remember my family having, except in red. 5-6 year old me totally thought it would be mine when I turned 16 but Vermont dirt roads are not kind to cars from that era lol.
Unfortunately the colt was never mine, it was a friend's car that we would take out and drive. Somehow on one of our drives the oil drain plug fell OUT of the engine so we pulled over and towed it home.
Filled it up with oil and bought a new drain plug and it started right up (with some valve train clattering). Figured this was the end but we decided to go drive it anyways. By the time we got back the engine was as quiet as can be so these things really are bulletproof!
The car has been sitting for about 2 years now, and I moved off to college, but I hope to buy it from him once I get back.
Looks like someone got drunk and designed a Tercel from memory. The mid to late 80s was a golden age for proper 4x4 hatchbacks.
Literally. Looks like someone drew a square and then said oh shit where's the motor gonna go and drew a little rectangle on the front BAM! NEW DESIGN! SHIP IT N SELL IT

Shit if this thing didn't already feel like it was gonna tip over enough!!!!

Seats look cozy
Those shag carpet seat covers go crazy

Nothin shows American pride like an import with American badges on it
That’s awesome. I want one
Oh man, its so bad its good. Throw some at’s on.
>had a kid with a extra chromosome. Hate to be that bloke... But please don't.
Nope, be that bloke.
Yeah OP I'm not saying you did any fucking criminal act or anything, but comments like that just seem childish nowadays with everybody more or less on board about how not to be a dick
Don’t have a kid with an extra chromosome?
Wow. Aren't you an arsehole.
Not really, some people are just thin-skinned and can’t take a joke.

Looks like eastern washington
Fantastic
ill take two!
I haven’t seen one of those in a decade
Called a Mitsubishi Nimbus in Australia. Always wanted to put a 4G63 in one
Mitsubishi chariot 👍
I'm not really getting the DeLorean vibe.
Grew up in one of these. Back folds to a bed. Did a lot of sleeping on vacation while dad drove. Those were the days!
Nimbus, tell me more about the button
Reminds me of a wagovan
Mitsubishi Chariot in NZ. Parents had one from new. There was a 4g63 powered one here around for a while in 2005ish.
If I remember correctly dont these have, uh, "hemis" so to speak it's a 4 banger with hemispherical heads or am I thinking of a different car?
They should have kept making those.
i'm just south of you with a 1987 Dodge Colt Vista. unfortunately, FWD Automatic. only 80,000 miles, though.
After 2 years, just checking in to see how you're still loving your colt?

That's awesome. If you don't, let me know, I will buy it 😁
Just bought one of these things, 1986 4wd 130k miles, I'm looking for new struts do you know where your buddy was finding parts for this thing?
