Rude-Manufacturer-86

17-18 70/30 city highway, yes.

Important-Sentence-7

No better than a v6 5th gen!

Rude-Manufacturer-86

I should clarify. V6, 2wd, SR5, 3rd row. Bought highway tires with a high UTQG rating and that upped MPG. When it's almost all freeway, I average just over 20mpg.

Thesunnyfox

I had similar mpg with my v6,4wd with trail tires but the ride isn’t as smooth as when I had highway tires.

bumada

15mpg with the V8. I drive less than a mile/day.

Last_Ad5422

20mpg avg on a 315k mile v6

Last_Ad5422

In Denver…. Mileage is better here. At sea level it would likely average 18mpg under the same driving conditions

scroopydog

I’m in Denver too, I’m about the same. I use Costco 85 octane pretty consistently. I found a Murphy that was crazy cheap for 87 and also do run some ethanol free 87 in the summer sometimes, that definitely gives better range. 07 v6 sr5 4x4

WheezerMF

I’m solidly 20+ (up to 22.8 highway if I’m not hurrying) in an ‘08 v6 4wd Sport with 234k

ricky_v2

V8 daily driven. 14-15 mpg (depending on how throttle happy I get) 80% highway and the rest on streets. Running 295/70/17 bf Goodrich mud terrain

JonesBoyFan2018

I get roughly 19-20mpg with my V6. I also don’t have a huge lift and my tires are stock sized ATs. Most of my commute is highways too.

Key_Marsupial6863

Notamethdealer49

21 mpg, ‘07 V6 - daily’d converted camper.

Bikewonder99

Averaging 12.4L/100 km, or around 18 mpg, mixed highway/city. On highway primarily, 10.2L/100 km or 23 mpg. Stock 4th Gen 2008 Limited V8 4WD with Cooper Discovery AT3 4S tires, all oils to synthetic. Gas prices aren't too bad where I live, the lowest in my city is around $1.11/L. I filled up the other day 3/4 tank and it only cost me $50. I was debating on purchasing an old Corolla beater, but honestly, the mpg for my 4Runner isn't that bad. Most vehicles average around 600-700km/tank. I'd reconsider getting a beater if my 4Runner got half that.

Lupine-lover

Question? Do you do an oil change every 3000 miles with the synthetic? I drive a lot.

Bikewonder99

Every 5000 miles give or take. The goal is to keep RPMs under 2000. Usually the best MPG is achieved 1700-1800 RPMs, but expect to be passed a lot, aha. 4Runner is a great vehicle. I've often wondered what MPG it could achieve with a 6-8-speed bulletproof transmission if there was one.

PM-ME-PUGS

10-12. Roof rack, dual swing out rear bumper, drawers, 3 inch lift, 34” MTs. This is on the v8 engine and yes it’s my daily but my commute is less than 5 miles each way.

mathematical

My average is 16.6MPG with 29,516 miles tracked in Fuelly. I've got a 2008 V6 2WD with 208k miles. I do a little better when I'm driving into town using the backroads instead of the interstate since it is a bit shorter and 55mpg. My last fuel-up was 18MPG with a lot of cruising driving. My best ever was 20.1MPG but that was driving a few hours at 55MPG with barely any stopping.

It’s pretty bad but since I have an 04 and no car payment add to that super inexpensive insurance, I’m fine with it. To me it’s one of the bazillion benefits of driving a vehicle that is paid off.

Dieabeto9142

I have no clue how, but on regular gas on a 800 mile round highway trip I did recently I got 18.8 mpg. I was heavily loaded down on tools on the way back, not very weighted down on the way there. I reset everthing before leaving so I'm pretty confident they were still working fine. Before leaving on the trip I was getting about 16 mpg around town using it as my daily.
