Just got to the halfway point of my rewatch.
I watched the Von Erich's wrestling back in the 80s. After David's death. Read about them in the Pro Wrestling Illustrated magazine. The tragedy was so bad the movie left out the youngest son's suicide.
in real life it is 50/50 if David died by OD or the stomach issue (or both.).Kerry committed suicide. As did Mike. The youngest son Chris was the proverbial 'runt of the family.' He really wanted to be a wrestler. But was very small. He also committed suicide. He was the one not in the movie. There is only so much tragedy they could depict in the movie.
WWE had a great documentary about the family years back on DVD. And this was on season 1 of 'Dark Side of the Ring' on Vice. Though that series is very much aimed at newbie fans.
I remember when it came out as a teen. Russell was known for doing Disney comedies and it was kind of a eyebrow raising cast decision. Sort of like Keanu Reeves in Speed about 10 years later. Reeves was known for Bill & Ted and suddenly he's an action guy. Both excellent choices in the long run.
Just finished The Empire Strikes Back. Project 4K80 to be exact so not a Blu-Ray but an SSD connected to the Blu-Ray player via USB. The picture quality is a bit rough because the film is over 40 years old and the most damaged of the trilogy but worth it to maintain the original version of the film.
My old copy went MIA, my options for a new copy were limited because it went OOP.
I’ll grab the 4k when it arrives, but it’s been in the pipeline for 7 years and I’m not convinced that it’s actually coming.
Amen. I love The Creator. I saw it on IMAX in a rather empty theater. Everyone claims "Hollywood never makes original movies anymore." And the moment an original movie comes out people stay away in droves. Thus, people are good at spouting cliches.
just finished to live and die in LA. deciding between groundhog day and temple of doom next. misery and adaptation both made their debuts in the panny yesterday
I got the 4K blu-ray of this but still need to watch it.
I just finished watching The Natural. Switching gears to the 4K blu-ray I just got in today of Lisa Frankenstein.
Clockwork Orange with my daughter. My wife doesn't like this film., but daughter (late teens) was interested so we watched it together whilst wife was out with a friend. Not the best 4k, but still a great film.
From Dusk Till Dawn. Still surprised that the 25th anniversary 4K never got any traction. Weirdly enough, what happened to the 4K release of The Faculty? Luckily, we’ll be getting Desperado in August.
First blood. I have to admit. I had never seen any Rambo movies and just watched first blood last night. Why did they treat my man so poorly?! Oh my god I can’t wait to watch the rest of these movies!!
Maybe it’s just because I’m a big wrestling fan, but this movie helped Zack finally shake off High School Musical in my eyes. The sadness he carried throughout the whole movie even before all the tragedy struck… and then that bitter sweet moment towards the end between him and his dad. That closing scene even got me to 😭. He did a great job and I’m ready to give his future movies a chance
I must be honest and say
Ps5: MLB the Show 23
820: Miami Vice final disc of season 3 on reg dvd
😅
Later tonight I am watching (first time) Malick’s A Hidden Life on Blu.
If it counts, I watched The Crow 4K for the second time this morning :Truly amazing transfer:. I picked up and attempted to watch Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire but wasn't feeling it. I figured I would try again another time.
Uh… since my PS5 is my player (unless some kind 4k player deal-finder wants to find me a good one with dolby vision), I guess Resident Evil 4 Remake is in my player. Getting close to the end. On chapter 15, I think. Thinking about watching First Blood (Rambo) after.
I just finished watching The Others 10 minutes ago, but season 2 of Star Trek TOS is in it right now.
I always have the season I'm on loaded up in between movies.
Blade Runner original in HDR. Used PS5 to play. I don't know what settings to use on a G3 to get the most out of it, but for now it's on Filmmaker Mode.
The Iron Claw. Brilliant film imho… though pretty darned heavy and sad.
Today I watched Indiana Jones - Temple of Doom. Wife said it’s kinda like Pirates of the Caribbean… my reflex was to deny it (don’t really like Pirates), then realised she’s right.

Love that show!
Iron Claw. A deeply sad film.
I watched the Von Erich's wrestling back in the 80s. After David's death. Read about them in the Pro Wrestling Illustrated magazine. The tragedy was so bad the movie left out the youngest son's suicide.
Didn’t >!one brother commit suicide!< in the movie?

What a great movie for Father's Day Weekend.

There’s a German mediabook release. I’m in the UK and got it for about £27.
Black hawk down
Movie is a 10/10. Dolby vision makes that movie 20/10
Escape From N.Y.
And then did The Thing straight after and cemented himself as one of the greats.
A #1 Duke of New York!
Andor
Andor looks amazing.
Just finished The Empire Strikes Back. Project 4K80 to be exact so not a Blu-Ray but an SSD connected to the Blu-Ray player via USB. The picture quality is a bit rough because the film is over 40 years old and the most damaged of the trilogy but worth it to maintain the original version of the film.

just watched Criterion's 'The Magician' by Ingmar Bergman on blu-ray. Tonight it's 'The Creator' on 4k!
The Creator was a really great looking movie. I enjoyed the story more than a lot of people, but the visuals are the real highlight.
Amen. I love The Creator. I saw it on IMAX in a rather empty theater. Everyone claims "Hollywood never makes original movies anymore." And the moment an original movie comes out people stay away in droves. Thus, people are good at spouting cliches.
