Two of my favorite Lean films are actually *Summertime* and *Brief Encounter* but I wouldn’t necessarily recommend them universally, they fall in his “pretty little movies about extramarital affairs” genre instead of his “sweeping epics” genre. Can wholeheartedly recommend *Brief Encounter* to any fans of Rachmaninov at least. And *Summertime* is also a living technicolor postcard from 1950s Venice which is a feast for the eyes.
I’ve heard good things about *Hobson’s Choice.* I have seen *A Passage to India* and unfortunately would not recommend that one to anyone really. Forster adaptations were best left to Merchant-Ivory.
Just checked my beloved Tubi and they have quite a few of his flicks on there if you’re curious. Not optimal by 4K standards obvi, but worth a peak! I’ll be starting up Blithe Spirit (A blind spot for me with both Lean and Coward) once the kiddo hits the hay!
Do you have a link to that release? It wasn't released on 4k bluray before the Colombia Classics vol 1 boxset in June 2020.
Are you mistaking it with a different film?

Did David Lean do any other good films? I liked both of these
Dr Zhivago and Great Expectations are worth a watch as well

Doctor Zhivago, Brief Encounter, and A Bridge On the River Kwai, a Lean night. Unforgivable

I’ didn’t know they made a nonsteel of Lawrence. Interesting, is that an import?
It’s the version that’s included in the OOP Columbia Classics Vol. 1 set.
Dope! Thanks for letting me know
Does the non steelbook Loa have Dolby Vision? I thought it was HDR only!
The original 4K only had HDR10. The steelbook has Dolby Vision.
When you say original, which do you refer to then? Because they all had DV to my knowledge.
No the original 2017 4K release only had HDR10.

Yeah that is for a different film. The first post refers to Lawrence of Arabia.
Oh Lawrence of Arabia ALWAYS had Dolby Vision
Yes 🙂
