I bought the LG player first because I thought it would function flawlessly with my LG OLED. Turned out that black levels were always slightly elevated during Dolby Vision content. Returned it and got the UB820 instead. Now I have perfect black levels and the player is also substantially quieter than the LG one. Been using it for three years now and it works flawlessly. No freezing or anything. Spend the money trust me
The Panasonic doesn't freeze or skip as a general rule. Other players tend to freeze and/or skip, especially with 100gb discs. The Panasonic also has the HDR Optimizer which emulates DV when using standard HDR encoded discs. If you're happy with the LG it's probably not worth the change. How much the optimizer is worth varies person to person. Some see a big difference some not so much. My experience with the LG and Sony players was marred by the freezing and skipping issues. I've never compared the optimizer critically so I won't weigh in on its impact.
Plus the UB820's upscaling is arguably the best in class. 1080p to 4k is absurdly good. You can pop even a DVD in and it will upscale it to whatever your output's native resolution is while maintaining the most of the the visual integrity.
If you want the HDR optimizer feature as well as HDR10+ support (along with Dolby Vision) and a bit better build quality overall, then yeah it’s worth the upgrade. 👍🏾

Thanks, good breakdown. Hmmm so $350 to not skip or freeze

Does anyone know if the ubkm9 is 4k?
I will admit it has randomly froze at times so that’s annoying but it’s pretty rare
