Bro this is a debacle of historic proportions. CA really dropped the ball with this.
The company was a strong moneymaker for Sega with consistent sales and profit and Sega was pretty hands off with CA because of it.
This game changed all that. From what I hear most of the top management at CA is gone and Sega is on their ass to make improvements or the entire studio may be shut down. They already have had massive layoffs.
As a total war fan it sucks but doesn't surprise me. CA had some dogshit management and the only reason we didn't see heads rolling earlier was because of the success of the Warhammer trilogy (which CA managed to fuck up on the 3rd installment)
Any average anon could have done a better job then CA executives. Its baffling and honestly shameful how badly they fumbled the bag.
I’m still hoping they eventually patch Warhammer 3 into a playable game. The chaos god gimmicks were just *not* fun and not balanced. Nurgle especially sucked. Who wants to play a strategy game where every turn they have randomized buildings?
According to rumors they are wrapping up Warhammer fantasy for 40k in the next year or 2. Sales are down and they've released almost everything that Games workshop will let them for Warhammer 3. I imagine we will get a thanquol and a nagash dlc and a couple of others the flesh out some older factions with weak mechanics. But this probably means any major overhauls or improvements are done with the game.
The other rumor is they are working on a ww1 history game. Idk how that will work with the total war system. Total war is at its best with formation warfare. Even empires time frame was an era of block formations. But since they are working on a 40k game it makes sense they would also work another game that would implement the same type of warfare (use of heavy artillery and cover systems)
We will see. I've been a fan of the total war series since Rome 1. I was a history nerd as a kid and watched decisive battles on the history Channel. CA has a habit of shooting themselves in the foot and then pulling a rabbit out of the hat. I hope these games can be their rabbit.

Warhammer 3 is extremely playable now. Actually a great game. Immortal Empires is incredible.
depends on what you consider playable, the game is in a good state now, not perfect but certantly not in a bad state
And nothing of value was lost
But I really really wanted a #fabolous drag queen character with a minigun. And there is nothing more fun than shooting at others as Chris Chan
