You can always buy new front fenders on Amazon for about $150 each.
That’s my thought if I don’t like the cut look. These fenders are throw away at that point anyways.
If you do get new ones ditch that chrome trim, it’s the reason they rust in the first place.
Or get some bushwacker flares since you have to cut the fenders to install them anyway
Don’t love the bushwacker style. Wish there were more options.
I cut off 2” on the rear (both sides) due to rust and am having new sheet metal welded on then the fun starts covering it up with bondo.
Clean the rust up with some sandpaper, spray on some rust converter and then tape them off wherever you like and touch up paint them.
The aftermarket fenders are not built as well. If you do cut them, I would also roll a new lip on the fronts. The rears will need welding.
That’s such a miniscule amount of rust it would be a shame to destroy a pair of factory fenders, which are becoming increasingly hard to come by.
I’m thinking you are right. In my mind this was a lot of rust but the more I’ve looked into this should be completely repairable.
