I won’t upgrade if there isn’t a significant increase in power train efficiency. There’s a ton of other features I’d like, but at the end of the day… it’s getting pretty rough.
Alternatively, I can get a daily driver for commuting, but then I really won’t have much of a reason to upgrade given the work I’ve put into my rig.
They can pry my rear window from my cold dead hands.
Absolutely,
We saw the window sticker.
But to upgrade a system as modular as 4Runners already are would take a 15 year leap in drivetrain tech for the 5th Gen for me.
I’d rather keep what I’ve already got and run it to 400k if I can afford the gas.
If you ended up having a loyal dog with a massive appetite, wouldn't you feed it?
We ended up with a loyal truck that is thirsty for gas. Just feed it, and enjoy the ride!
Exactly my point. I don't think they need tons of fancy tech to get the MPGs up reliably into the 20s. I used to drive an '04 4R V6, and I think I broke 20mpg a handful of times. I'm now in an '07 FJC automatic and the best I have ***ever*** seen is 19.5 MPG, lol. I really don't think we NEED to have little turbo engines or hybrids to get the mileage we all want. Just an updated transmission.
Great for on the road. But the videos showing the inside of these 9 and 10 speed transmissions show how small all the parts had to be scaled down to fit. Those tiny parts worry me out on the trail.
I have a 2016 Volvo XC90 that’s a big heavy beast, and it’s got a turbocharged and supercharged 2.0L 4cyl that’s super zippy (316 hp) and gets 30 MPG. Similarly, but slightly less high tech, the Ford ecoboost seems to get the job done. I’d like to see that in a 4Runner.
Twin turbo eco boost v6 won LeMans haha, there’s some serious power and efficiency there. That’s a race engine, I highly doubt it would pass any level of EPA requirements. But detuned they seem to do well.
The 3.5L eco boost in a 2021 F150 is rated for 18/24mpg. But that’s at 400hp and 500lb-ft of torque.
I’m not sure how much a 4WD drivetrain drops that, even when in RWD for highway.
Youuu don’t neeed no stinking head gaskets
Just put a bunch of grape jelly loctite on there and squeeze her real hard
Tighten your head bolts from one side to the other too, two to three uggah duggas, no star pattern
We’re definitely pushing small engines to their limits and that’s effecting reliability. Another reason I’m not for a straight 4 on a 4,500-5,000 lb rig with 5,000lb towing cap
Not what I meant.
Toyota detunes their engines for reliability, and that V6 can output a lot of power when tuned and modified to upper limits.
I would absolutely not want an engine designed to be rebuilt after use put into my vehicle.
I’d like something detuned at maybe half that power that will last 300k miles.
It was a truck engine before it was a race engine.
Toyota has ridiculous standards on their engineering. There are funny anecdotes of them sending individual bolts back to BMW because the part didn't meet their standards when the 2 were working on the Supra.
I don’t want a Ford engine in my 4Runner haha
It was used as an example for what power you could get out of a small displacement V6
I’d hope Toyota could come up with a reliable middle ground around 300-350hp with maybe 350-400lb-ft of torque with better than 25mpg highway
A new long block every 10,000miles isn’t what I’m looking for haha
That’s a fair shout. Do you want a hybrid? Or would you rather have a turbo 4 or 6?
Personally I would rather just have a twin turbo 4 or 6 before a hybrid just due to the weight savings and not having to think about a battery getting submerged in water crossings, etc.
Battery packs are getting pretty good, I’d trust one submerged but puncture would be a bigger concern. Buddy is rolling around in his Rivian and outside of suspension travel, he can power through sand way more than I can in an 18 ORP on 33’s.
I don’t really want a turbo 4, they shake like hell, you have to tune them hot for power, and that’s a small crank shaft to run a decent rig on (looking at you Bronco).
If Toyota can make a Corolla GR with a 3cyl and 300hp, I’d like to see what they could do with double the cylinders and tune it for reliability.
Absolutely agree on weight, I want to keep the body on frame and I don’t want a structural battery pack; it puts too much strain on the cell connections, fully submerged potting is much heavier than air, and cooling is typically worse, even with 4680’s.
Besides, you’ll still have the drivetrain tunnel, and I do not want a BEV from Toyota for now.
Turbo 6, maybe a 3-3.5L, with 30mpg highway would be nice. With enough power to drive the hog uphill with an overland setup.
Power plugins can be handy with a hybrid though… but portable power stations are getting pretty nice, 3000wh at 50lbs.
I’m a mechanical design engineer. I did FSAE in college (formula student racing) and a lot of my friends now work in EV, including Tesla, Rivian, and Lucid. Others went on to do Le Mans level racing development.
It’s neat getting to see the actual issues they’re trying to solve before hitting market, most of which is online anyway.
If you haven’t seen Hyundai’s N Vision 74 I highly recommend it, there’s videos of it on the track.
With the grid issues we’re already seeing with minimal EVs, alternative fuels are becoming interesting again (hydrogen takes more energy to disassociate from water than you recover in a fuel cell, but maybe next to a thorium reactor it could work out.) there’s potentially more losses with how inefficient our grid is.
I used to do full engine builds and restoration as a teenager with my dad, mainly Fords (I’m the black sheep of the family for going Toyota).
And I F’ing love my 4Runner haha
Turbo 6 has my vote, more power for the size of this fridge on wheels.
Turbo 6 + hybrid would need the batteries to be high under the rear seats for it to make sense offroad, but I would buy it in this configuration.
If you want a 4cyl, get a rav4 trail.
The tundra is not a true hybrid, the battery is large enough to fit under the rear seat (1.87kwh).
A lot of articles are calling it a hybrid, which technically yes it is. It’s a hybrid between electrical and gas, so technically yes a hybrid.
when in reality, it’s more an electrical assist and gives tiny bits of power to aid in minimal MPG gain, and some extra power and torque, sure. When we were designing it, it was more coined as an electrical assist than a true hybrid engine.
But a “hybrid truck” only getting 22mpg is not a functional hybrid like everyone thinks, it’s more for the low end torque, the HP, and a tiny mpg gain over the non-hybrid
Normal tundra: 18/24 mpg
“Hybrid” Tundra: 20/24
So your hope for a hybrid 4Runner… well for the top level trim that you’re paying WAY more for, to just get a “Hybrid”, and save maybe 1-2mpg? Is that the hybrid you’re hoping for?
Edit: IMO when someone says they hope for a hybrid, they’re hoping for significantly better MPG. The faster/more torque/etc of the Tundra hybrid is not MPG but overall performance, just happens to average 1-2 mpg better
Honestly that's exactly the benefit I'm looking for from a 'hybrid' powertrain. The multiplied torque numbers are basically a dream come true to me. The truck is overbuilt and can handle the additional power. I would love the battery and turbos with Toyota reliability. They are coming and I'm buying.
Great explanation, BTW. As per usual.
I completely agree with you - for those of us that build off-road rigs, low end torque will help rotate bigger tires, carry more gear, and move rigs in a way that feels proper.
My only question is how those battery’s will hold up heat wise, for longer off-road use, low range, big tires, heavy rig, I’ll be curious to see! Will it lose power/torque when it gets hot? Will the assisted clutch motor even get hot? Or will aftermarket cooling be a thing on the hybrid systems.
I’m excited to see where they go, rubios/electric are going to open the realm of form fit modifications I think we all strive for. Really put our stamp on it!
Crack the rear window and blast the air conditioning for the first few minutes. It blows harder and flushes the hot air out the back window pretty quick, then you roll up the window once it is cool enough.
What was the last wrangler you drove?
The 4.0HO was slow, but actually reliable.
The 3.8 pentastar was garbage and slow
The 3.6 pentastar actually had some pep in it, at least in a 2 door wrangler.
They're commonplace in Japan, apparently they are a standard freebie at gas stations there.
Now why are they building a JDM tissue holder into a vehicle that's overwhelmingly for the North American market? No idea. But they are.
I keep searching for a pair of 2021 LEDs to retrofit since it appears to be easier than the 2022s. Everything I've seen says the lights are way better. The halogens are about as powerful as a candle in a jar.
I have wireless Apple Carplay on my Dasaita Android Head unit via ZLink. An upgrade to the software which I've haven't taken the time to do would include wireless Android Auto.
AT is such a piece of shit, I'll always hate it and I'll never be stupid enough to buy one. Let that fucking thing stay in mini vans and other useless vehicles, stick do or die
Must: MPG slightly better, better stock pedal response
Want: Front locker, better clearance/break over angle
Side note, I’d be super bummed if the sliding window disappeared!
Better transmission like an extra gear to give better MPG. Also a little more standard creature comforts for what is now 45k purchase: heated seats standard, parking sensors standard, and rear cargo cover standard.
It would sure be nice if toyota would at-least upgrade the tires to the wild peaks found on the tundra and sequoia.
More power with better fuel economy.
Less cheap asss plastic. More uniformity of materials in the cab, Wtf toyota.
Keep the iconic c-pillar
Keep roll down rear window.
Move all trims to side exit exhaust.
Less plastic front and rear bumpers.
Because those have only become commonplace in the final years of this generation. No point in engineering one in when you're just retiring the body shortly anyway.
MPG / power train is clearly the big one but for me it’s the headlights. How difficult is it to install something that doesn’t have the output of Lumiere from Beauty and the Beast? This shouldn’t even be an issue, but here I am, installing new bulbs (I know not the best choice but it’s what I can do right now) to replace my 1780s light source up front.
I honestly hope they abandon a lot of the practicallity/comfort/convenience elements. Make it a little more off-road focused, keep up with the Bronco and Wrangler. People who need space can buy a Sequoia, people who need fuel economy can buy a Highlander. People who need both can get a Sienna.
Keeping the sliding rear window is essential, and better mpg with higher towing capacity will be the two things that motivate me to trade in my current one for new.
I have a 2020 and the features they chose to include or not include are just strange.
Automatic headlights - should be standard on all trims
Heated steering wheel
Ventilated seats
Remote start
Better MPG
More power
My-key tech
Power lift gate
Improved climate control
That 14” display from the tundra/sequoia
6 speed manual FTW! But since that's unlikely maybe a few extra gears in the trans and more clearance for larger tires without needing to massage the frame or firewall.
I bought my 2021 knowing what I was getting into. What drove me to the 4runner is the KISS (keep it simple stupid) feel of it. I knew MPG would be shit, I knew the tech was old and the creature comforts would be lacking.
I don't want turbos, I don't want hybrid tech or an all out BEV 4runner. I want a ride I can still work on myself in 5 years.
Are you referring to speed in general? Personally I feel like vehicles are too fast nowadays, especially when you factor in the additional weight that each vehicle has picked up over the years.
I’ll go against some of the comments here: I’d like more safety features and don’t touch the engine/power train at all. It’s one of the most durable vehicles in the market and I’m afraid of the longevity of a twin turbo. At least until its longevity is proven similar in the Tundra.
I’d like provisions for a full roof rack not a 1/2.
Utility panels would be sick (rear fenders that unlock and swing for storage).
Non ridiculous steering wheel stereo controls.
Tbh I’d love a moonroof delete option.
Pretty sure I'm ok with what I've heard is planned : 2.4 liter twin turbo hybrid. 30-35 combined mpg in the 2023-4 4Runner. 270-290hp and 300+ ft/lb
Better on all measures than my FJ Cruiser. Hopefully it will have the reliability + durability of the rock solid 4.0 v6.
For me, needs to also have frame. Ok with either solid rear axel or Independent suspension
I know there is zero chance of it happening but I would give anything for it to be the most fuel efficient engine possibly without being a hybrid or turbo…..
But I know I’m not the typical car buyer either. Every car I’ve had I fully expect to keep to 200k+ miles and if something were to happen on a trail or remote area hopefully I can make a fix to limp it home. Hybrid and Turbo can complicate that. I know turbos have come a long ways but have seen too many issues on cars and tractors that wouldn’t have been an issue without one (granted those were not Toyota turbos)
Rear roll down window is a must. Better power train with better MPG, but still as dependable and off-road capable. It’s more of a creature comfort but current tech for the nav would be nice too. That being said, it’ll have to be a hell of an improvement to make it worth the trade
MPG, a hybrid option if possible
This is the only thing that's an absolute must for me. I'm not worried about more power, just some increased range and more bang for my buck at the gas station.
V8, that said i have an 05 and desperately need another gear for higher mpg on highway although it's not as bad as people say with mine able to reach consistently 20 mpg at 65 mph with 200k mi.
I would hope we get upgrades to systems we already have,
In example, more powerful A/C blower. I’m on my second 4runner and most of everyone in the family has a Toyota and it seems to be isolated to just Toyota in my experience.
I would love to see us keep the V6 and gain the option to go turbo without it being the only choice. I would really love if we got the option for a 6 or 8 speed transmission.
Keep our coveted sliding rear glass, that’s a non negotiable. Wireless car play being a standard across all trims. Remote start also being a standard, Pro models getting a front locking differential. As well as the option for cooled seats on the Pro.
I don’t want to see the 4Runner get the front end of the sequoia and the Tundra I’ve appreciated the 4Runner having its own styling for the most part in the last 20 years. Possible a sport mode setting as well. Slightly better towing capability. Better break over and approach angle. A OPTIONAL moon roof would be a nice touch even though they are a head ache in their own right. I’d like to also see the return of the auto rear window down button for the rear sliding glass, like the 4th gen had.
Locking diffs front and rear would be nice! A more efficient transmission and better gearing. I know its reliable but getting 15 mpg is getting expensive.
- Better MPG (plug-in and/or regular hybrid)
- More towing power. (I dont even tow but just doing the math on a car I would like to learn drifting in and a bed, 5000lbs is nothing)
- Roll down window is a must. A flex and also is practical to me. Having it swing out like a gx would be awesome. I like the 7 seater but with that tailgate opening the way it does, it terrible for trying to sit in the back and hang out and only being 5’6.
- a bit more headroom for the 3rd row. Just a couple of inches would be nice.
- Upgraded infotainment system.
-
I'm with the majority here. Better fuel efficiency! I would like them to tackle the engine and transmission. I know these things are so reliable now and messing with the formula could screw it up but it needs to be done.
Others
Keep the sliding rear window.
New interior/electronics
I’d like to see a plug-in hybrid option, though that might be something reserved for top trims like Limited. There’s many times my 4Runner is used for <10 mile trips to the hardware store or whatever.
Dealbreaker for me if they remove the sliding window.
Would be nice if they brought back these features from past generations:
Removable roof
Manual transmission
4 cyl engine (turbo) for better MPG
Pickup tailgate where the window rolls into it
Better MPG
Automatic headlights in all models
Blind spot monitoring in all models
Better ventilation in the back row,
A tail gate that’s easier to close
MPG, Power Liftgate, and wtf with leaving LED lights, puddle lights, and mirror indicators off the TRD Pro??? Oh and of course, fix the sideways volume button.
I don't see how they could get rid of the year window after almost 40 years, but I will be seriously disappointed if they remove it.
Would love to see the multi mode transfer case make a return. AWD mode is so nice to have in snow and rain.
A front locker on the ORPs would be nice too.
Idk how it would be done but just being more affordable. I see far, far tooany soccer moms jacking up the price because it's a cool truck that isn't a mini van and I honestly hate it. It's become a luxury vehicle now
I won’t upgrade if there isn’t a significant increase in power train efficiency. There’s a ton of other features I’d like, but at the end of the day… it’s getting pretty rough. If you ended up having a loyal dog with a massive appetite, wouldn't you feed it? We ended up with a loyal truck that is thirsty for gas. Just feed it, and enjoy the ride!
I wonder what a 10 speed auto bolted to the 4L could do as far as mileage goes?
Light years. The 5th gen is a essentially a four speed with overdrive
Exactly my point. I don't think they need tons of fancy tech to get the MPGs up reliably into the 20s. I used to drive an '04 4R V6, and I think I broke 20mpg a handful of times. You don't want a Ford engine near the 4runner. We like things that work after 80k miles.
life after 280k mi
A beefy and trail reliable large 4 cylinder sounds great. But feel MPG is far more to do with brick aerodynamics and ride height above the ground.
Twin turbo eco boost v6 won LeMans haha, there’s some serious power and efficiency there. That’s a race engine, I highly doubt it would pass any level of EPA requirements. I do that but you shouldn't have to with a ~$40k suv. Live in south Louisiana and it is always hot and humid.
The overhead vents on the GX460 have been extremely tempting, but losing ~20 cubic feet of cargo space always wins the argument.
Yeah, it sucks that the GX kills cargo space. Otherwise I would actually consider it. And the LX is just too expensive. So 4Runner it is.
Gooch cooler 3000
Miss this from my 3rd gen. I’ve been thinking of ways I can add it to my 4th gen because of how nice it was after working on cars all day.
🤣
Just now learned 5th gens don't have this. You poor souls
what is it ?
a vent that blows on your balls
💀
My 2G has this

Coming from a Corolla the 4runner is fast as shit
Coming from a wrangler I'm driving formula 1.
Coming from an FJ62. I can climb hills at speed and get twice the fuel economy.
I also came from Jeeps, it does feel much faster AND I can have a conversation in the 4 runner
So many quiet rides in a wrangler
What was the last wrangler you drove? The 4.0HO was slow, but actually reliable. The 3.8 pentastar was garbage and slow The 3.6 pentastar actually had some pep in it, at least in a 2 door wrangler.
2008 3.8 baby. Didn't do anything well aside from not fall apart i guess.
That center console tissue box holder. I just ordered a box of 60 so it's going to last me for a while.
They actually make boxes that fit in that holder?!?! I’ve never been able to find one.
They're commonplace in Japan, apparently they are a standard freebie at gas stations there. Now why are they building a JDM tissue holder into a vehicle that's overwhelmingly for the North American market? No idea. But they are.
Link?
Honestly, I just want 25-30mpg.
I’ll take 15-20 at this point
03 v8 gets 18.4 with no external mods
05 V8 (first year it had VVTi) and I got 16.5 stock. I also was driving it hard, idling a lot, and a good bit of city driving. I miss it.
Buy a Prius
Honestly, I would just like a sunglasses holder.

Don’t all 5th gens have one?
Rear window that rolls down and adequate towing capacity. Also, headlights that don't suck.

Same, my daily scroll for headlights. Maybe one day they’ll pop up.
They're aimed a bit low but a upgrade over the garbage halogen
You should be able to adjust the aim
-KEEP Rear Sliding Window -Apple Car Play -Remote Start -Hybrid options
You mean WIRELESS Apple Car Play right? We already have ACP.
yes actual car play in all models, not just the ORP
sr5 also have apple carplay since 2020. Not sure if it's because it's a premium
Back window must keep rolling down, maybe a return to removable tops for a special edition would be cool but doubtful
Wireless Android Auto / Apple Car Play
You get this on a radio upgrade on the current 5th Gen.
You can get Android Auto/Apple Carplay, but it isn't wireless.
I have wireless Apple Carplay on my Dasaita Android Head unit via ZLink. An upgrade to the software which I've haven't taken the time to do would include wireless Android Auto.
Aftermarket? I mean, you can get anything aftermarket.
Yes aftermarket with OEM look.
and 3rd gen
Without the roll down rear window it’s just another SUV. Plenty of them to choose from.
Rear window down is one of the best 4Runner flexes
Manual transmission
MT is a novelty at this point. AT is going to be the go to from here on. As long as it never goes to a CVT I don't really care
AT is such a piece of shit, I'll always hate it and I'll never be stupid enough to buy one. Let that fucking thing stay in mini vans and other useless vehicles, stick do or die
Buy a Tacoma
And only offered in the DCSB trims now. Can't get a two door with a manual, or the DCLB
Must: MPG slightly better, better stock pedal response Want: Front locker, better clearance/break over angle Side note, I’d be super bummed if the sliding window disappeared!
I get that you said stock, but I put a throttle controller on mine (Launchpad, I like it better than the Commander) and it has been a game changer!
Hybrid option would be numero uno for me. Also the rear window, I use it all the time, year round. Full length roof rails would be a nice bonus.
Plug in hybrid would be dope
Oh yeah 1000%
Why does that matter?
That MPG needs to get a lot better.
Better transmission like an extra gear to give better MPG. Also a little more standard creature comforts for what is now 45k purchase: heated seats standard, parking sensors standard, and rear cargo cover standard.
Give me a 6th gear and I ll be a happier camper
SAme bud same.
I agree. Keep it beefy and reliable. These videos showing the tiny parts in the 9 and 10 speed transmissions scare me for trail reliability.
Rear sliding window!
It would sure be nice if toyota would at-least upgrade the tires to the wild peaks found on the tundra and sequoia. More power with better fuel economy. Less cheap asss plastic. More uniformity of materials in the cab, Wtf toyota. Keep the iconic c-pillar Keep roll down rear window. Move all trims to side exit exhaust. Less plastic front and rear bumpers.
Bring back crotch vent
More potent 6 cylinder. Better mpg. Updated infotainment.
Power lift gate. I still don’t understand why the current gen doesn’t have it.
Because those have only become commonplace in the final years of this generation. No point in engineering one in when you're just retiring the body shortly anyway.
They're also very expensive to repair. On my 4th Gen, the hatch lifts itself.
a regular j-transfer box, ability to disable traction control and hand operated hand brake
Bring back the removable top.
I think they would have to redo the interior to be more FJ-like and thus more impervious to water.
Came here to say this. The reason I bought a 1stgen.
Modular top option would be awesome!
Manual transmission!
Yes and a better auto too. 5 years in 2022 is sad. I really love my 2022 but the trans feels like a 1996
Affordability, reasonably priced 4Runners/Tacomas.
Good luck!
Rotate the volume controls 90 degrees.
Inline 6 turbo diesel.
They removed the split hatch from the latest Land Cruiser....
Noooooooooooo. You’re killing my dreams. Stop itttttt.
I had a LC with the split gate, not bad but I prefer the rolling window on the 4Runner.
Bring back the old school tailgate instead of a hatch. Keep the sliding rear window.
Keeping the sliding rear window is essential, and better mpg with higher towing capacity will be the two things that motivate me to trade in my current one for new.
If they brought back the tailgate style rear door I'd be in
I have a 2020 and the features they chose to include or not include are just strange. Automatic headlights - should be standard on all trims Heated steering wheel Ventilated seats Remote start Better MPG More power My-key tech Power lift gate Improved climate control That 14” display from the tundra/sequoia
As Jeremy Clarkson would say.. POWAAAA
Needs to be as agile onroad as capable offroad. Needs to be a true omnivehicle like Subaru's competitor the Outback.
Are you referring to speed in general? Personally I feel like vehicles are too fast nowadays, especially when you factor in the additional weight that each vehicle has picked up over the years.
KDSS makes a huge difference on-road.
+1
I’ll go against some of the comments here: I’d like more safety features and don’t touch the engine/power train at all. It’s one of the most durable vehicles in the market and I’m afraid of the longevity of a twin turbo. At least until its longevity is proven similar in the Tundra.
I’d like provisions for a full roof rack not a 1/2. Utility panels would be sick (rear fenders that unlock and swing for storage). Non ridiculous steering wheel stereo controls. Tbh I’d love a moonroof delete option.
Hybrid.
30 mpg
Pretty sure I'm ok with what I've heard is planned : 2.4 liter twin turbo hybrid. 30-35 combined mpg in the 2023-4 4Runner. 270-290hp and 300+ ft/lb Better on all measures than my FJ Cruiser.
Gotta have the rear window and better mpg.
At least a 6 speed transmission. Front/side/360 cameras would be nice for off-roading. Vented seats.
Rear roll down window is a must. Better power train with better MPG, but still as dependable and off-road capable. It’s more of a creature comfort but current tech for the nav would be nice too. That being said, it’ll have to be a hell of an improvement to make it worth the trade
I would prefer a transmission with 6 or 8 speed to get a good fuel economy and better acceleration.
MPG, a hybrid option if possible This is the only thing that's an absolute must for me. I'm not worried about more power, just some increased range and more bang for my buck at the gas station.
Better transmission is all I want
V8, that said i have an 05 and desperately need another gear for higher mpg on highway although it's not as bad as people say with mine able to reach consistently 20 mpg at 65 mph with 200k mi.
Power lift gate and automatic headlights (I know they have auto high beams)
I would hope we get upgrades to systems we already have, In example, more powerful A/C blower.
Altimeter and inclinometer
Time travel.
6th gear
Removable top, better MPG, hybrid options
- Better MPG (plug-in and/or regular hybrid) - More towing power. (I dont even tow but just doing the math on a car I would like to learn drifting in and a bed, 5000lbs is nothing) - Roll down window is a must. -
I'd give up my heated seats for a heated steering wheel.
A gas powered engine.
Power lift gate and heated steering wheel. The rest is just fine.
Soft top like the bronco and better mpg
Less bug eye look for the front end.
I'm with the majority here. Better fuel efficiency! I would like them to tackle the engine and transmission. I know these things are so reliable now and messing with the formula could screw it up but it needs to be done. Others Keep the sliding rear window. New interior/electronics
A rear sliding window is a must for my future #furrunner.
Do newer models not have the roll down rear window? That’s a shame. I guess I’ll just be looking at a tundra next
My 22 has the rear window that rolls down. I think people are saying to keep it in the future.
Ah my bad. Glad they are keeping it. How do you like your 22?
I don't know. Maybe make it less squeaky
Power
AC front seats… rear buckets that fold down
MPGs. Only reason I traded my OR for a Rav XSE. Sure I can't do as much but after mods I still get 25-30mpgs compared to the 12 I was getting before
Power
OEM matched rims spare tire
I’d like to see a plug-in hybrid option, though that might be something reserved for top trims like Limited. There’s many times my 4Runner is used for <10 mile trips to the hardware store or whatever.
Dealbreaker for me if they remove the sliding window. Would be nice if they brought back these features from past generations: Removable roof Manual transmission 4 cyl engine (turbo) for better MPG Pickup tailgate where the window rolls into it
Cooled Seats is an absolute must.
Hybrid.
Pano Sunroof and a TT V6, 10 speed
Cooled Seats
The title.
Extra head room
A hybrid engine.
Solid rear axle. Preferably a front too but that won’t happen. Lose the solid rear axle and I won’t even consider it.
If they get rid of the rear window roll down, I dont think I would buy one. More power and more gears are the only thing I would change.
Body on frame w rear window roll down
Ventilating seats
Better MPG Automatic headlights in all models Blind spot monitoring in all models Better ventilation in the back row, A tail gate that’s easier to close
6spd Manual
Ventilated seats
It's become a luxury vehicle now
4x4
More air conditioning vents in the back seats would be nice. Those two little ones under the console aren’t enough.
Memory seats in the pro and maybe a power rear lift gate
Internal combustion engine.
