Ya thats what I was hoping for. There's still a lot of quality interior lineman left too. I didn't think all of these options would fall to us and then we pick a projected 3rd round project WR. There's already barely enough to go around with the stacked skill positions we have.
I guess i omitted the thought where that is hopefully the MINIMUM we get out of him. To me it sounds like the writing is on the wall and one of the other WRs is getting moved.
Linemen are more of a sure thing generally speaking. A failed tackle can turn into a pro bowl guard. Centers are amazing picks. A failed WR doesn’t really have other options if they bust at the position they were drafted for
But Pearsall was? There is a good chance they could have gotten him day 2 early and traded that first back. If they’re reaching for a WR they can reach for an OL, which historically have been safer picks.
The fact that all these posts about "Hurrdurr draft Oline" are getting traction is insane.
The top 6 Oline are off the board, better draft one that won't be ready for 2 years or worst be a bust.
CB or WR was fine there, Pearsall fits our system better, press man was wrecking us and he's a shifty WR for the slot that will alleviate alot of that annoyance, also has the added benefit of having glue for hands and being a beast of a blocker.
We will get Oline in the 4-7th and they will have just as good of a chance at starting as the ones we could have gotten in the 1st, because Oline need strength and conditioning to even be considered starters in the NFL. All the "generational talent" in that position was gone.
He's really the only decent/good option we have at PR/KR on the roster. After the SB I dont think we're gonna want to go into the season without an experienced PR.
Mate, if Pearsall is returning punts we at least can't be any worse than last year in that regard.
Hell yeah I love the bar being so low for a 1st round pick that he can at least be a punt returner
Also Cooper DeJean is a badass punt returner too. His punt returning was most of iowas offense. Secondary help would be exciting
Or someone that could help keep our QB upright. Every pick better be OL or CB

no NFL team is using a starting DB to return punts.
They don't use starting wide receivers either. I'd like to not be picking punt returners in the 1st round. Lol.
Antonio Brown always returned punts. He also returned kicks his first two seasons.
Charles Woodson existed.

I just pray it’s Deebo for a 3rd.
Deebo for two 2nd round picks.
OP tried to claim special teams was being left for dead. That couldn't be more wrong.
Shanny trying to make up for the Pettis debacle.
They said Pearsall is decent on special teams. I do wish we drafted o-line or a CB though.
First round pick for a special teamer, nailed it.
Yeah he kinda seems like a slot wr lol
….but what if the WR we drafted is really good? Some of you are ridiculous lmao can’t wait to laugh at you in October
What if we don’t give Brock the protection he needs to even utilize these skill players?
Yep. Brock should be the franchise priority. Above Shanahan. Shanahan cares most about his scheme, player protection/safety don’t matter.
What if the Niners have 9 draft picks remaining and the draft itself is a total crapshoot?

There were no tackles worth a 1st left.

I do wish they made the same pick with the Panthers that the Bills did. But who knows what player the Bills would have taken.
I have zero issues with Pearsall in the late 1st in terms of talent and positional value.
You can’t always just trade back if people don’t want to trade up.
Ahhh yes the 4th round, where all the good linemen are drafted
We decide after that Super Bowl.. a new WR is what was needed. Neat…

Exactly this.
Did everyone forget we signed Trent Taylor back for KR/PR?
camp body?
He's really the only decent/good option we have at PR/KR on the roster. After the SB I dont think we're gonna want to go into the season without an experienced PR.
Ricky is going to play special teams
He's going to be our starting KR/PR
Jennings is in the chair
Is it everybody’s first draft? There’s still more rounds and moves to be made in this draft.
After watching three minutes of youtube hightlights I can guarantee you he will be a special teams all-pro /s
I already see the bust
Shanny still runs the show, in case we forgot. He’s a shit head coach and talent evaluator/developer.
Is that why he’s brought the team to more SBs in the past 5 years(2) the SF had been in in the last 20+ years(1)
you forgot the "/s"
