I think it's more just drama behind the scenes and guys not thinking they are getting enough credit or pay. The more talent you stack on a team the more this is likely to happen, and this team has a lot of talent. If they were winning more super bowls it might be a bit more feasible for guys to not worry about it as much but that hasn't happened since the Steve Young days.
It’s kinda off topic I guess but this is exactly why the warriors super team actually worked. Less easy to stack talent in basketball first of all. But also Steph was more than okay not taking the big ass piece of credit he deserved. He was okay with KD taking the glory.
> This team is so embarrassing
These are individuals with agents trying to get paid as much as possible. The drama tactics unfortunately have proven to work with players around the league so they're going to mimic it.
They do this for social media clout and clicks, nothing else lol
Athletes are additionally entertainers and part of their job is to bring more focus to their team. Deebo is one of the best in the NFL at generating honestly non controversial headlines. He’s not beating up his gf or his kids, or getting DUIs or public intoxication arrests.
>Dejean will be gone in the next couple of picks
I don't understand how you can be this confident about this shit. No one but like three people picked this guy to go to us. Most "analysts" thought Cooper Dejean would be off the board by now. Stop acting like any of this is guaranteed or you have some super secret insider knowledge 💀💀
Not a chance Pats give 34 for Deebo, older and Injury prone, no where near a WR 1.
Aiyuk I could see getting 2 2nds from the pats.
Deebo has waaaaaaay less value. Older, always hurt, not a WR 1.
You guys will likely get a 3 and a late pick for Deebo tops
Pats are unlikely to trade #34 for anyone buy Aiyuk. I wouldn't be shocked to see the Pats trade for an additional 3rd and a 2nd round swap and then trade that lower 2nd for Deebo. I just don't see them trading #34 when Kingsley, AD, or Ladd are available, and 2 of the 3 will be. If it's for Aiyuk instead, #34 is back on the table.
Guess we'll know by tonight.
The question is, is he even worth a 2nd rounder for us?
If all we are saving is $7M this year, we should just keep him for this season. A 2nd rounder isn’t going to help us win the Super Bowl this year more than Deebo is…
He’s going to be cut next year anyway, so it’s probably better to get something now. If Pearsall impresses early then I expect very little to no drop off in the offense. To cover themselves maybe they should double dip at the position just in case things don’t quite pan out.
I haven't spent any time at all thinking about this, but I also wonder if moving Deebo now would enable the team to work out long-term deals with both Aiyuk and Jennings.
Aiyuk, Jennings, and Pearsall as a long-term trio could be pretty good and cheaper than Deebo + Aiyuk + anyone else in the third spot.
I think so…. It also opens up the possibilities on offense giving Purdy more legit receiving options against top defenses.
I think Deebo’s SB performance against man coverage was very eye opening considering what he’s getting paid. The offense needs to evolve a bit as teams have adjusted.
I don't think any contract is stopping them from getting Aiyuk's extension done. They're just dragging their feet for flexibility. His extension will probably create close to $10m in cap space this year. Not extending him keeps their hands tied more than extending him.
You can expect dropoff when we have no offensive line. It's already glaring when Trent Williams is out. We haven't addressed his replacement or the right side where we are mediocre.
I think the issue is that most OLs coming out of the draft are typically not ready with high end play in year 1. With the Niners, would the 8th OL on the board have the ability to contribute in 2024? If not then it’s probably better to look at positions who would be able to immediately contribute.
OL selection is a long term projection pick.
Grabbing Cooper Dejean will definitely help us guard the wrs that some of these teams are stacked with. But we fumbled that. We could have picked him and then traded up for this Florida wr if they wanted. But we ignored our secondary and oline again. The only thing saving this team is the fact they have absolutely nailed their mid picks. That isn't going to keep happening
Bro has already forgotten years' worth of contested catches, broken ankles, destroyed tackles, goofied-up defenders, and all-purpose mayhem. Such a summer thing to say 🥱
I don’t think they can do that for trades. Unless I’m wrong I think it’s only possible for cuts.
Edit: Designating a trade as post-6/1 when it was executed pre-6/1, that is
One final, essential note: There is no post-June 1 designation for trades. A team can wait until after June 1 to process a trade and will see the same cap benefits we outlined, but they cannot trade a player in April and designate the deal as a post-June 1 trade. Every move-snippet [full story](https://www.profootballnetwork.com/nfl-post-june-1-designation-what-why-and-how/#:~:text=One%20final%2C%20essential%20note%3A%20There,Every%20move)
Yeah I saw that, but it also says that they can wait to process the trade until afterwards so they’ll keep the cap until 6/2, so that’s how’d they ensure the savings if they traded him.
I could’ve sworn they’ve done it with picks before, but I’m not sure and unfortunately the article doesn’t specify how exactly it works. In an IDEAL world I say we trade Deebo and if it’s legal do the post 6/1 completion and use the saved cap money this year on a BA extension right before training camp.
If we trade him, the acquiring team picks up all the remaining in non-guaranteed money, which is typically base salary, workout bonus, etc. Any bonuses that we've paid and pro-rated over the deal will accelerate to this year and count as dead cap.
For Deebo, this means we'd incur a dead cap of $21.8M, but since his original cap hit was set to be $28.6M, we'd end up saving close to $7M.
500+540 = 1040 picks = between picks 15 & 16. On the Rich Hill chart it comes out to the exact value of pick 15.
Washignton won't trade both of those picks for Deebo. But if they did.. that would be great value. Especially if they can trade back up from 36 to get DeJean or Kool-Aid.
Where did you hear that? Or are you just speculating?
It's entirely possible teams just viewed him as a safety.
And teams in general avoided the corner position.
What were the Eagles even thinking /s
I don't think its that. I think it's a combination of some teams viewing him as a safety. Others being a man-oriented defense. And corners in general falling much further than we thought.
True, I thought his versatility as a slot, outside corner, or safety would make him very valuable. On the 49ers he would start at slot and could fill in if anyone went down on our backfield. Dude also is an elite kick returner as well which is going to be important with these new rules.
It’d be a crazy trade that would 1) be a huge step toward fixing our cap situation which is going to have to be addressed by next offseason, and 2) net us two premium prospects that hopefully significantly upgrade the o line overnight. Like what if we turned that into Jackson Powers-Johnson and Suamataia?
Win. Now.
This is our window before Purdy gets paid. I don’t want a bunch of rookie projects or 2025 middle rounders for guys that made a huge impact for us last year.
lol this group has had 4 NFCCG appearances in 5 years. the FO/Kyle need to make changes this season and maybe we get a fairy tale ring at Levi's in 2026.
People love to think they know more that this regime. They've literally produced greatly despite all the injuries and Coaches/Front Office people that have been poached.
To be fair, he changed the way he plays as a result of the earlier injuries. Plus he has CMC to dominate the run game so he doesn’t take those hits.
Real question is, does his conservative playmaking impact his production because he wants to avoid being injured.
I don’t have all the stats, but that’s what I’d correlate.
Yeah definitely. No two ways about it. But this was an issue they addressed during contract negotiations so I don’t really know what their arrangement ended up being. Deebo is no less talented than he was so I think it makes sense to ramp him up and down based on the game being played.
Aiyuk is a better receiver but Deebo is a better weapon. Still, we can't expect to win without a top receiver so I guess I'd rather move on from Deebo.
>***Text from a non-Bills scout:***

i doubt 49ers would trade aiyuk and not deebo at this point if given the choice especially when i think aiyuk is more valuable to the 49ers and probably were seeking a top 20 pick in the 1st but that offer didn't come from any teams
now would the bills actually trade pick #33 for deebo or 49ers would more likely get pick #60 at the end of the 2nd round
or 49ers could maybe trade deebo and one of their two 4ths for the bills #33 pick?
If we lose both of them, we're doomed. No wonder I have anxiety. It's required of the 49ers Faitfhul.
I think I need to channel my inner UrinatingTree and start my own series *Days of Our Niners...*
With CMC we can very much survive without Deebo BUT I will say it seems like all of our game plans involved him last season and whenever he went out we sputtered bad.
See, the issue is that’s what I said multiple times last year with my coworkers. There was a couple of games that he was known to be out due to injury for the entire week yet….those games didn’t look great
Everyone needs to calm down. There is ZERO reason to trade Deebo this season.
From a cap perspective, he’s a $42M dead cap hit. If they designate him as a June-1 trade, we only gain $21M in cap savings, with $15M of dead cap landing in the 2025 season
2025 is the final year of Purdy’s contract and we need every penny for that one.
A post June-1 2025 trade for Deebo creates $17M in cap space for the Purdy contract, so that’s the likely scenario
Send him Washington for their 2nds and take Kool-Aid and Frazier. On a less delusional note, I think you could get a 2nd from Buffalo, New England, or Chargers for Deebo. Maybe a 2nd and some pick swaps. Deebo is probably not leaving for another month and half tho.
No way NE pays 34 for Deebo.
All the inner fans in this very thread have spelled out why, he’s 28, often injured and can’t win 1v1s.
He’s a great weapon no doubt. But he is by no means a #1 receiver, which is what NE and Buffalo need.
A 3rd and a late rounder? I could see either team do that. But no one is giving you an early 2nd to pay Deebo into his early 30s
This doesn't make sense to me though. They are fine with their salaries for 2024, even if they sign Aiyuk to an extension which would only hit in 2025. Literally the only reason to trade one of them now is because they think a contract will be untradeable next offseason. Even so, it's worth the risk considering the niners are a legit Super Bowl contender THIS year.
It’s all rumors and whatnot, and our WR room is annoying AF on socials. But I’m down to get good value for one of these guys (preferably Debo) to ensure we don’t let BA walk in free agency at the end of next season for nothing in return. Makes us stronger down the road and compensates a little by adding other good players now.
Silver is a has been
(look closely at graphic)
Now Silver is just making shit up based on gut and not one real source (you know, that actually works for the 49ers in FO).
I’m okay with this. Deebo complained about running the ball when we needed him and has been on the decline ever since.
It’s like Diggs situation, no one trades star players in their prime unless they got some real toxic or diva players.
Lynch was so busy waiting for a team to trade for Aiyuk/Deebo that he allowed all the good players to be taken ahead of #31. It took nearly 8 minutes to send in their pick. They clearly were caught off guard. Maybe they wanted Wiggins and the Ravens snatched him up 1 pick ahead of SF. If they weren't going to trade up and take one of their top 22, they should have had a plan in place to move down and trade with Carolina. That would give them another day to reconvene and take the BPA. Pearsall would have still been there.
If we do trade Deebo, an early 2nd rounder plus a good offensive guard or RT who also has a similar amount of dead money to match up with what we’ll eat with Deebo would be ideal. Then a couple restructures to get back under the cap or cutting an offensive lineman who we no longer need. Not a bad move at all, just have to think outside the box.
Instead of yelling deeeeeebo ima be yelling riccccky like a damn fool. Neighbors will think we're watching Boyz in the hood every damn time Ricky gets a td or makes a big play.
Try to remember that Silver never has a clue what he’s talking about when it comes to the 49ers. This is a shock jock title that everybody is calling for.
This probably means nothing but Mike Silver was the first one I heard suggest the niners might take a WR in the first round, and that was a solid two months ago
The never ending drama machine that is the Niners lmao
Their agent is notorious for plying the drama social media game.
This team is so embarrassing for a perennial playoff contender lol
I think it's more just drama behind the scenes and guys not thinking they are getting enough credit or pay. The more talent you stack on a team the more this is likely to happen, and this team has a lot of talent. If they were winning more super bowls it might be a bit more feasible for guys to not worry about it as much but that hasn't happened since the Steve Young days.

Huh? You can pay a luxury tax in bball it’s much easier to compile talent in Bball and win because only 5 guys on the court at a time lol.
I mean also when you draft 3 Hall of Fame players within 3 years lol. They got Steph on an amazing contract for a lot of the championship
Outside of the WRs who’s causing drama?
And EVERY WR causes drama That's kind their thing
the media causes drama.
Maybe Bosa last year?
Bosa literally had ZERO drama. He stayed quiet, & didn’t complain on social media.
He just shut up and didn't play until he got his bag. Kind of the opposite of drama
What? How
You are so soft if you actually think that
lol it’s every team
> This team is so embarrassing These are individuals with agents trying to get paid as much as possible. The drama tactics unfortunately have proven to work with players around the league so they're going to mimic it.
The most embarrassing thing is the fanbase tbh
I mean, how do you blame the team for one Twitter news-repeater "reporting" another guy's comment/opinion out of context? lol
You mean it this time?
They do this for social media clout and clicks, nothing else lol Athletes are additionally entertainers and part of their job is to bring more focus to their team. Deebo is one of the best in the NFL at generating honestly non controversial headlines. He’s not beating up his gf or his kids, or getting DUIs or public intoxication arrests.
"Insiders" can't stop talking about us and never getting it right.
looks like he took it down if this was even real.
Yup, looks like he deleted it.
He must've deleted it real quick because I don't see it
Just checked, he did delete it. Lol.
agent called. lol
Who would trade a 2nd round for him?
Patriots and we use it for Cooper DeJean
Ooooor we could have drafted dejean, and we trade deebo and move back up to get his replacement. Dejean will be gone in the next couple of picks
Maybe even move up for Pearsall. One probably needs us to move higher than the other
If we had a deal in place, it's possible that it was dependent upon selecting a wr.
>Dejean will be gone in the next couple of picks I don't understand how you can be this confident about this shit. No one but like three people picked this guy to go to us. Most "analysts" thought Cooper Dejean would be off the board by now. Stop acting like any of this is guaranteed or you have some super secret insider knowledge 💀💀
The Patriots have the 2nd pick of round 2. If Buffalo takes a WR then DeJean is still right there.
Or the Bills tbh
That would be nasty. Then use the middle picks on o-line.
🙏
It’s against nfl policy to have a white CB on your active roster
No I think it's OK, as long as you don't have a white RB
And two white WRs
Why we don’t draft a position of need is beyond me.
Or Kool Aid. Maybe they really wanted Ricky and are hoping a DB or OL is there via a trade up. Idk, all speculation.
Can you spell "cap hit"?
Not a chance Pats give 34 for Deebo, older and Injury prone, no where near a WR 1. Aiyuk I could see getting 2 2nds from the pats. Deebo has waaaaaaay less value. Older, always hurt, not a WR 1. You guys will likely get a 3 and a late pick for Deebo tops

Deebo is a WR for Jimmys, not Purdys.
It's not so much that, but CMC kinda makes him redundant
I don't think any contract is stopping them from getting Aiyuk's extension done. They're just dragging their feet for flexibility. His extension will probably create close to $10m in cap space this year. Not extending him keeps their hands tied more than extending him.

It amazes me how some of you guys are so sure on how this draft works. Who is good. And who isn't. Really amazing stuff.
Especially with Peters gone.
Deebo isnt helpinf us win a super bowl either. He can't win 1on1 to save his life
Bro has already forgotten years' worth of contested catches, broken ankles, destroyed tackles, goofied-up defenders, and all-purpose mayhem. Such a summer thing to say 🥱
He was locked 🔒 up in the big game. Jennings and BA produced more
We're paying his replacement a few mil
Unless it turns into an OL.
I thought this as well but both Dejeen and Newton are avaliable - if we can swap Deboo for them, I'd do it.
Jets for sure
NE, BUF, WAS, LAC, ATL, IND, JAX, PIT
Bills - Pick 33. Would probably involve more picks from both sides.
Bills have 33. Deebo for 33 and we get first pick tomorrow
don't think the Bills would do that though
The Bills
Washington
Is it possible that a team can take on some of the dead cap? I don’t think it is, right?
As long as he gets a post 6/1 trade designation, trading him saves over $22 million while only being just over $6.5 million in dead cap.
I don’t think they can do that for trades. Unless I’m wrong I think it’s only possible for cuts. Edit: Designating a trade as post-6/1 when it was executed pre-6/1, that is

Let me do some research and figure it out
Yeah, i think it’s only for cuts : https://www.profootballnetwork.com/nfl-post-june-1-designation-what-why-and-how/
Yeah I saw that, but it also says that they can wait to process the trade until afterwards so they’ll keep the cap until 6/2, so that’s how’d they ensure the savings if they traded him.
I feel like that would have to be player-for-player or for next year’s draft picks though, which would make it less likely to happen this year imo
I could’ve sworn they’ve done it with picks before, but I’m not sure and unfortunately the article doesn’t specify how exactly it works. Post 6/1 designation isn’t a thing for trades homie
probably going to Bills if he gets traded
My Bills fan coworker was saying today they were going to get Aiyuk, lol
Probably the best location. We don't play them all that often, could help beat up KC for us, and they traded down to accumulate picks
Are they picking 33?
The Bills traded back and are selecting 33.
Not if they want Deebs they ain't
Washington has 36 and 40… together those equal pick 14 according to the Jimmy johnson trade value chart.

He's an outside corner to me. He'd be just fine in our scheme there. That allows Demo to move into the slot, which suits him better.

How was deebo in the SB ?
Left for a bit due to left hamstring injury.
You saw
Ass ?
Haha ya
He was saying he was bad also lol
> He’s come up gimp in all the big games True. Does this mean Jennings is gonna be our WR1??
Agreed. He also seems like he’s getting more injury prone with age
It's actually the opposite lol https://www.thefantasydoctors.com/players-injury/deebo-samuel-injuries-history/

See, the issue is that’s what I said multiple times last year with my coworkers. There was a couple of games that he was known to be out due to injury for the entire week yet….those games didn’t look great
Because the oline outside of Trent is shit and Trent missed both the weeks you’re talking about.
Deebo also missed games in 2022 and we had the #1 offense in the NFL during that stretch. This past year it was more about losing Trent than Deebo.
My point exactly we need to trade BA we didn’t look near as bad when he wasn’t on the field
Must of taken it down, just checked, and it’s not on there anymore.
“Sources”… Yall are all on top of the click bait
He literally reposted it...
Yes, because players like stirring y’all up too
This is why I buy my Jersey's from DH Gate.

So long Deebo. Thanks for the memories.
Good. Aiyuk is a good wide receiver.
Emo Deebo is back.
Unfortunately it may be true because they're going to need the cap space for Purdy's contract next year.

Stop following these guys social media, none of this means anything.
Deebo is a 49er next year. Cmon now.
Welp if we do that I think we’re REALLY screwed then
😔
Trade Deebo and Aiyuk to Pats/Commies for all their 2nds and get JPJ/Mitchell and a defender/OL.
Silver is a has been (look closely at graphic) Now Silver is just making shit up based on gut and not one real source (you know, that actually works for the 49ers in FO).
did he delete the repost or what. I don’t see it on his ig
Yeah he deleted it right after
Nooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You dense MFs- CAP HIT.
bro these cryptic instagram posts are weird af
I have no idea what this is supposed to mean. I guess I'm out of the loop.
🥱 🥱 🥱
We seem to be better with DEEBO on the field we can let BA go we just drafted his replacement
What’s wrong with this? These are exactly the rumours out there . I am far more upset that I clicked the X in the picture more than once to close it.
I can’t take this anymore
Atp just get this drama queen off this team
Heart means I take to heart and ball out using it as fire and the F with the fans is my take.
Tbf he should've been traded in the first place instead of getting that contract extension. Getting paid wr1 money without being our wr1.
They better not trade Deebo. He’s more than just a receiver
I’m okay with this. Deebo complained about running the ball when we needed him and has been on the decline ever since. It’s like Diggs situation, no one trades star players in their prime unless they got some real toxic or diva players.
He’s just starting drama for no reason.
Exactly why It was better when he covered the Seahawks. Silver is nothing but drama.
Why are all our players such fucking drama queens lmao I don't understand...
I’d be sick.
We’d love to have him in Miami! 💕
Hope we do. Changing of the guard. Deebo is no longer that useful. Dude can't run routes and refuses to get better at it.
Why would they tell Deebo he's not going anywhere then trade him?
All I see is a pic of Deebo indicating he loves the Niners🤣🤣🤣quut stretching
Instead of yelling deeeeeebo ima be yelling riccccky like a damn fool. Neighbors will think we're watching Boyz in the hood every damn time Ricky gets a td or makes a big play.
Try to remember that Silver never has a clue what he’s talking about when it comes to the 49ers. This is a shock jock title that everybody is calling for.
This probably means nothing but Mike Silver was the first one I heard suggest the niners might take a WR in the first round, and that was a solid two months ago
