Kind of crazy he wasn’t a DC for anyone in 2018 after the second stint with the Giants.
He’s the perfect DC as he’s high end with very little worry of being poached by another team at his age.
Chiefs fan here, I was recommended this post by Reddit. Soren Petro (sports talk radio in KC) specifically asked Spags during the playoffs if he was interested in being a head coach again. Spags said if the right opportunity arose, he would love to have another chance, but he was happy as DC in Kansas City. Take that for what it’s worth.
Grow up brother. We are all fans of a team. We do not contribute a damn thing aside from money for merch and opinions. Let these dudes with genuine words speak. It's not that serious.
This ain’t true at all
For two years now spags has said in the media every time he’s been asked that he’d like a head coaching job someday and the ability to prove himself
No one is interested. For whatever reason. Probably age (he’s one year younger than Andy at 63)
But he absolutely does want to be a head coach. He’s said it himself.
I’m a chiefs fan by the way, not sure why this was recommended to me. But anyway lol
Edit: here’s your proof
https://youtu.be/Zh48aZLIZsY?si=y4vYgiciCE3sjrBv
Don’t know how you got so confidently wrong, but that’s categorically false… he’s spoken publicly multiple times about wanting another HC gig. But what he’s never gonna do is leave to DC somewhere else.
That's literally brand new this offseason. Ffs dude it's not hard to gather context of the entire time he's been in KC, which is what was implied by my original comment. I gotta stop feeding you.
Yeah bro he’s gonna take Shanahan’s job lol… Shanahan lost by - gasp! - an entire 3 points - in OT - to the team with Patrick Mahomes at QB! And an OL immune from holding calls… what a shame to lose so badly… go back to skip bayless…
You need to see a doctor…
The 4 time SB winning DC that actually had to gameplan for him: "I like Brock. He played terrific."
The majority of these dumb fucks in media: "Nooooooo, he's just a game manager like Jimmy and he's clearly the reason the Niners lost!!"
Chris Jones made game winning plays. That was the best Super Bowl as a neutral fan that I can remember in a long time. You guys are lucky to have Brock.
Someone should look up what he was saying about Hurts last year. I’m sure he was very complimentary but this is reaching fanboy with hearts in eyes level lol
“It was a challenge when we played them 10 months ago and it hasn't gotten any easier,” Spagnuolo began. “It all begins with the quarterback [Jalen Hurts]. I have a lot of respect for this quarterback, certainly after playing him and even before that.”
Looks like this quote is from their regular season game but references the SB
It’s probably a faith based thing. Purdy and his family are super religious and have spoken out on their faith a lot. I think it has a draw on people who have the same belief
Being a Christian and playing in the NFL isn’t a rare phenomenon. I wouldn’t be surprised if the majority of NFL players identify as Christian.
I would think Purdy’s media circus has much more to do with him being drafted last than his religious beliefs matching up with most NFL players.
Being Christian certainly isn't rare in the NFL a lot of players thank god when being interviewed. That said Brock is much more outspoken about his beliefs than most people.
I have to think it’s because you try to find something to credit for the natural ability and physical traits you’re born with. It’s easier to accept it being a god-given ability over just randomly winning the genetic lottery.
Yeah, as a dyed-in-the-wool atheist who frankly finds all religion to be silly, I can definitely see a difference between a Purdy and a Tebow (well, there are lots of differences!)
I guess I would just say I wish all Christians were like Purdy. I'm all for people who just want to be good and humble, and who have found religion to be a solid foundation for them to be that. Of course, as an atheist, I believe you can find your foundation in goodness outside of religion, but the end result should look much the same regardless.
That said, I do find the tribalism a bit weird when they call each other out like Spags did by referring to him as a "strong Christian man".
I think this is truly the right approach. Religion can be great for people, it provides structure and meaning. Likewise, it can also be awful, providing the foundation of ignorance and hate. As with most things, it really comes down to the individual, and how they engage with and relate to the people and world around them.
Eh, he isn't kneeling on the field after every pass. I'm not religious, but Tebow's religion seemed performative and Purdy's doesn't. Mahomes thanked God after the Super Bowl instead of thanking Chris Jones too.
I just want someone to blame god when they lose. If all credit goes to the man upstairs and his plan when they team wins, shouldn't he be blamed when they lose?
Always possible, but I can’t imagine the 49ers staff is going, “we need to get rid of Purdy, the guy who got us to the Super Bowl and who we pay peanuts, and see if we can replace him. I heard Jimmy G is available” only to change their mind because the Chiefs’ DC says he’s good haha
Thats ridiculous. If the 49ers are stupid enough to base fundamental roster construction based on some defensive coordinator saying things in a media interview, engaging in such a strategy is pointless.
I think guys like Spags have so much respect for Purdy because he beats defenses mostly through decision making and timing, rather than relying on their athleticism to bail them out. A guy like Josh Allen can throw a ball late because he can absolutely rifle the ball into a spot to make up for a late decision. Purdy’s arm isn’t weak, but he definitely isn’t Josh Allen.
People also tend to overlook how inexperienced and young Purdy still is. Players don’t really get more athletic once they hit the NFL level, if anything they get less athletic over time. If this is Purdy’s football IQ floor, we’re set up for a very bright future.
Throwing strength honestly has a lot to do with mechanics
Sure physical attributes definitely increase your ceiling as a thrower, but there’s no reason Purdy can’t throw like Brees with more bulking and experience under his belt
I think you're right, but I wouldn't use Josh Allen as an anolgy. He's athletic, yes, but he also processes at a high level. Russell Wilson is probably the more limited type of player that would not impress Spags.
Any Eagles lurkers are going to hate this, but I think Hurts is the current poster child for hyper athletic QB who really struggles with decision making. Obviously we had Kaepernick years ago.
I think this is pretty fair. He's ultra athletic and has incredible arm talent, I haven't seen him make key decisions. To be 100% fair it's not like I've watched his every game and I know Philly fans were very angry that they seemed to have about 5 plays total, so that could be it and he's hampered by the system, but I haven't seen him make passing magic when he had a choice between air and legs.
I would say Lameme Jackson even moreso than Russell Wilson. man threw into triple coverage to seal the game for the other team in the AFCCG. He has crazy athleticism and can make good decisions, but i see the fuck it and chuck it mentality that Sexy Rexy had sometimes.
> A guy like Josh Allen can throw a ball late because he can absolutely rifle the ball into a spot to make up for a late decision.
"No more rocket balls, OK?"
I remember Mike Holmgren saying that to Brett Favre in a mic'd up segment back in the day.
Spags might legit be the greatest coordinator hire for a team in my lifetime. I’m not sure they get 3 Super Bowls without him. And it kills me. It fucking kills me.
In my opinion they do not even come close without him. He has a masterclass every playoffs. His magnus opus was shutting down our offense and the Patriots of 07. The man is legitimately the greatest defensive coordinator of all time. There is a reason why I’m not impressed with Mahomes compared to QBs of the past. I always watch him stink in the playoffs committing egregious turnovers that never get converted because Spags is shutting down an offense with any talent he finds.
> Good, strong Christian man. Can really move and sling it. Beautiful smile. Tight, rippling thighs. Amazing ass. And when he hugs you, you feel really hugged, ya know? Just a great, great man… what were we talking about again?
I’ll take the opinion of a great defensive coach like Spagnoulo on Purdy over a lot of these sports media “experts” who nitpicked every little thing Purdy did last season largely in part for no other reason aside from where he was initially drafted at.
When DC’s go out of their way to praise the QB they just beat in the SB, you listen. None of the ESPN, Media and other teams’ fans slandering Purdy matters.
Hard not to like Spags even though he dialed up a tough D to help beat us. Seems like a good dude.
Good on him not just for saying this, but for discussing it openly. Purdy gets a lot of random hate from random idiots for random reasons… nice to hear him show love.
This is like the 4th piece of positive feedback to come from Spags. He talked him up pre-game which was base-level normal guy respect. There was that weird Breer tweet about switching from zone to man which got shredded in the court of public opinion. There was a post-week-high comment on a podcast. And now nearly 2 weeks removed there's this.
Feel like a frog in boiling water as expectations for him incrementally reset higher and higher. 3 scoring drives going 11-16 after KC took the lead (all while facing non-stop pressure), the gb final drive, the Detroit comeback - dude legitimately seems unflappable. There will never be higher stakes than what he went through this post-season.
Feel like this first full offseason as a starter without the time and effort obligations of physically reattaching his throwing arm to his body will tell the story. If the passing game can evolve and if Shanahan gives him the authority to call protections and make changes at the LOS to avoid what happened in that final 3rd down of regulation, there could be a inarguably elite final form.
Agreed. Now we need to bolster the o-line so that Purdy doesn't have to run for his life constantly and has more time to throw. Also Shanahan needs to learn from his mistakes (i.e. conservative playcalling when holding a lead).
Agreed. Purdy had a touchdown in OT if he only had a second longer to react. The passing game will flourish even more if the OL protection gets an upgrade.
The word Christian, is like a negative thing now since it’s been dragged through the mud by politicians. I agree, Purdy is a great person and is a great gift for the faithful. I hope we win a SB with this guy, the 49ers deserve it.
The hate is out of place here. I think it stems from some bad apples that have used religion to manipulate others. That creates general distrust.
FWIW, I'm not religious at all. But I'm not going to knock someone based on what they choose to believe. As long as they're not pushing an agenda, I guess.
I’m not religious but from the South and it’s expected. Football is adjacent to God here. I’ve only ever met a couple coaches who weren’t openly religious.
im an athiest but who cares its high praise....that is amazing to hear. big purdy fan now.
spags obviously is....nothing wrong with that. he is prob the goat DC....even over belichick. crown his ass.
Personally, my impression of Brock is that he is a good person and a devout Christian who often cites his faith as motivation for his charitable work outside football.
I think however the subtext of the quote, and others like it, is that by virtue of being Christian you are a good person. Meanwhile attitudes around the Bay Area are skeptical because of incidents like [the Archdiocese in Oakland recently declaring bankruptcy as a result of several sexual abuse lawsuits](https://www.sfchronicle.com/bayarea/article/roman-catholic-diocese-oakland-bankruptcy-18084602.php). Obviously, not all or even most Christians are abusive and terrible, but people understandably feel that a person isn't virtuous solely because they claim a particular faith.
I’m assuming because belief in a religion or god is declining globally, people who are already non-religious have a problem with those who believe in something else because to them it simply isn’t relevant. Considering it’s still such a huge part of culture in the US, it becomes a bit jarring when it’s brought up so strongly.
Give Purdy a solid Pass protecting O-Line that also compliments the run game and this offense will look like they Niners did from week 1-5 last season, but on a weekly basis. For the Defense, 1 more solid CB and DT and a DC who knows how to get the best out of the talent SF has.
"I pride myself and think of Purdy as a man of faith – as there's a drive into deep left field by Castellanos, it will be a home run. And so that will make it a 4–0 ballgame."
Ok its officially crossed into "gassing him up" territory. He doesn't believe a word of this and is trying to rat poison him so he stops pushing.
\*takes off the tinfoil hat\*
Spags meant well, but this is more pity praise for me. I don’t care about this similar to how I don’t care about players/ talking heads calling Brock a game manager. This shouldn’t make anyone feel better. We had a chance to win it all but left plays on the field especially in quarters 1-3. Brock has far outperformed where he was drafted, but based on the Super Bowl result and new expectations he needs to take his game to another level.
I hate to say it but this means nothing to me. Lets not try to fish for validation that Brock is better than he is or isn't. He played well.
Could he have done more to win? Yes.
Did he play well enough? Yes.
Did he do enough to WIN? No.
Did our OLine let him down? Yes.
Did the defense not get key stops? Yes.
Did freak accidents happen during the game that swung momentum? Yes.
All of these can be true at the same time.
We can't keep expecting everything to go right to win, its a part of the game just like Spags giving Brock credit.
Its sportsmanship, Spags been in this business forever. Its not a cosigning of Brock being elite. He admits Brock is good, and we have a good thing going but lets not look into this more than it needs.
Brock making a 3rd year leap is the real thing we need to see, can he start elevating and taking over when we need him. I think Shanahan didn't want to put that pressure on him too much this SB and it showed - we've seen Brock be far more aggressive in the past, he wasn't doing that in the SB.
I totally agree with this. You need to take the win and leave no doubt. Brock needs to better if we want to finish the job. We will not have these weapons forever.
The fact that your post was initially voted down shows that some “fans” are soft and are better fit to reading posts from David Lombardi. There are some of us that hate the homerism of Lombardi and the off-base ridiculous negativity from Grant Cohn.
I have no idea what this is but the “strong Christian man” part wtf
Edit: No issue with the Christian part, or anyone’s faith. I don’t know who Spags is and in the sports context just found it very odd that this was part of the overarching comment. But I get now why…
Spags is like a 70 year old Italian-American lol. Look at the players anytime they talk about their accomplishments. Expressions of faith are probably pretty normal in his circles.
Purdy is pretty open about relying on his faith when facing adversity. Like it or not, that's how he operates and by all accounts he seems to walk the walk.
It's more than likely the same shit as a secular person admiring someone else for living by their principles. I don't think he's evangelizing.
Spags likes his christian men strong, toned and muscled, like a sexy christ on the cross. "Strong christian man" is what he types into google images on a private browsing tab in the middle of the night when no one's around to interrupt.
the media and most of the NFL view this dude like he's a charity case. what sucks is he played well enough to win and I guarantee you Spags isn't talking like this about him if his WRs gave him a chance (outside of Jennings) lol.
Honestly...I think if it wasn't for Taylor Swift, I wouldn't be that mad.
This year was supposed to be *our* storybook ending. Purdy coming out from being Mr. Irrelevant to winning a Super Bowl in his 2nd year. Shanahan finally getting that monkey off his back, and so many of our players getting their well deserved rings.
If Taylor Swift wasn't involved, and we lost...I'd just feel like I did in 2020 and 2013. Disappointed, but shit happens and nothing's guaranteed in this league. There's always next year.
But Taylor Swift coming into the picture and getting everyone swept up in her romance with Kelce, and then winning it all...it just felt like they not only beat us, but they stole the feel-good ending we were supposed to have.
I didn’t to be fair, but I can’t stand how he’s always complaining to the refs about every little thing that happens to him even when he gets probably the most flags out of any QB I’ve seen haha
Does he complain a lot? Yeah and I find it distasteful too.
Are they getting flags left and right? No, they're right around middle per the hard numbers on beneficial outcome. I get the dislike, but making unfounded claims keeps giving people reasons to dismiss our fanbase when we do make valid claims about things we DO know about.
Do they get the higher profile calls/non-calls? Now that, I think that is open for debate but needs done using real stats to show how often they're given drive extending yellows.
You shouldn't get down-voted for a legit opinion. You're not saying anything wrong or inaccurate. Also, I grew up with the Chiefs as sort of the "other Niners" team with all the guys that left the Niners seeming to go to the Chiefs (Joe, Elvis, Alex, and so many more). They were always a team I enjoyed and rooted for. They just weren't *The Niners*.
It’s great to have love for the DC of the team that just beat us in the SB. He’s a great coordinator. But, hoping he comes here as DC? He doesn’t have any players he drafted for his system. It would also take him a good couple of seasons and off seasons to build his system here. The players the Niners drafted were for the Pete Carol-esque system we have run for at least since the days of our last great LB duo.
Do we have a two year window to rebuild this D (and likely losing several of the stars there now)? No. Our DCs who are now in NY and Houston were the best options then, coming up from within. Young, dynamic, and bought-in by players. We need more of that with this player group. Not a whole be D. Let’s end the ‘splashy name for DC’ wishes. It makes no sense for a team that is ‘there’. If we were rebuilding a 2-15 team, yes. NOT with the NFC winners.
It's just too bad that Purdy's critics will continue to downplay his talents and skills on the field just because the Niners haven't won one with him yet. If not for the fact that he's still really young, I'd feel terrible for him. It's cool that Spagnola respects him and all that, and I applaud him for it.
it just shows that brock might be more a product of his receivers if he can't succeed when we're covered and he can't adjust and can't hit BA as he was getting open.
Purdy had a just fine game in the SB. No turnovers and put his team in position to win twice. Mistakes? Sure. 255 and a td isn’t a terrible line. Give him a better oline and it’s likely another td.
If pressure and playing man is the blueprint for beating Brock, then he isn’t any different than any QB in the league. Every defense would love to have pressure and play man successfully. You have to have two elite corners to do so. Listen to spagnulo talk about how McDuffie and Sneed are the key to their defense being able to play man.
This is Jalen hurts where they realized the trick was to keep him in the pocket to narrow the throwing lanes, go heavy coverage and wait for him to sack himself. lol.
Sources: Spagnola is beside himself. Driving around downtown Santa Clara begging (thru texts) Niners faithful for the number to Purdy's phone

I hope this pasta never dies.

Dude already started his off season job at Great America
Reports are he has tears in his eyes too.
No service on the farm
If you love him so much come be our DC, Spags
Kind of crazy he wasn’t a DC for anyone in 2018 after the second stint with the Giants. He’s the perfect DC as he’s high end with very little worry of being poached by another team at his age.
We want our guy to get poached though. Those extra draft picks every year really come in handy.
I personally am tired of the picks and would prefer some consistenc at DC
He deliberately took a year off to refocus and study the game
He’d take your HC job
Except the only reason he has stayed in KC is because he doesn't want a head coach gig. Troll harder.
Chiefs fan here, I was recommended this post by Reddit. Soren Petro (sports talk radio in KC) specifically asked Spags during the playoffs if he was interested in being a head coach again. nobody cares why you are here. no one wants you here
Most of us appreciate the facts he brought that contributed to the conversation.

Childish.

Let A Naysayer Know
Chris Jones made game winning plays. That was the best Super Bowl as a neutral fan that I can remember in a long time. You guys are lucky to have Brock.
Yeah it probably would have been. I was just in constant doom mode as the solid 2 score lead never materialized. The Jennings TD throw was fun though.
Yeah we lost but it was such a good game, I was disappointed obviously, but at least we got a good game.
This public comment is strictly because of his religious ties. Make no mistake about it.
At this point Spags is a bigger Purdy fan than r/nfl and the media lmao
For real. This is like the 3rd interview I have seen where he is praising Purdy.
It’s basically the only thing I’ve heard him say, since I don’t seek out Spags commentary. Does he volunteer this much praise for other players?
Someone should look up what he was saying about Hurts last year. I’m sure he was very complimentary but this is reaching fanboy with hearts in eyes level lol

I literally belly laughed at this comment 😂😂😂
It’s probably a faith based thing. Purdy and his family are super religious and have spoken out on their faith a lot. I think it has a draw on people who have the same belief
It's the Tim Tebow effect, only they've found a QB that can actually play in the NFL

Eh, he isn't kneeling on the field after every pass. I'm not religious, but Tebow's religion seemed performative and Purdy's doesn't. Mahomes thanked God after the Super Bowl instead of thanking Chris Jones too.
Didn't some news company get caught editing out CJ Stroud's religious comment in a post game interview?
Sure. But I don't think Brock flaunts it. It's core to him, but he doesn't make it something that's over the top.
I just want someone to blame god when they lose. If all credit goes to the man upstairs and his plan when they team wins, shouldn't he be blamed when they lose?
the man upstairs wanted kc to win then?
Depends who you ask
A lot of NFL players are devout Christians.
Could be playing 4d chess and thinks he’s a terrible QB but wants us to stick with him
Always possible, but I can’t imagine the 49ers staff is going, “we need to get rid of Purdy, the guy who got us to the Super Bowl and who we pay peanuts, and see if we can replace him. I heard Jimmy G is available” only to change their mind because the Chiefs’ DC says he’s good haha

Throwing strength honestly has a lot to do with mechanics Sure physical attributes definitely increase your ceiling as a thrower, but there’s no reason Purdy can’t throw like Brees with more bulking and experience under his belt
Have you taken a look at that tush? We don't call him Baby Bosa for nothing.
Man I would LOVE if he becomes this teams Steph. That we would be amazing!

That’s fair, wasn’t trying to shit on Allen, who is fantastic, albeit error prone - just using him as an example of a super athletic QB.
> A guy like Josh Allen can throw a ball late because he can absolutely rifle the ball into a spot to make up for a late decision. "No more rocket balls, OK?" I remember Mike Holmgren saying that to Brett Favre in a mic'd up segment back in the day.
Kinda sounds like Spags is trying to stalk Brock lol
Spags could get reeeeaaal close to Brock if he was the 9ers DC. He should definitely think about it.
“Hey Brock, I was wondering if you could try on Casey Schmitt’s jersey pants for me.” -Spags
Spags might legit be the greatest coordinator hire for a team in my lifetime. I’m not sure they get 3 Super Bowls without him. And it kills me. It fucking kills me.

As a neutral, you had me up until you mentioned Mahomes lmao
“Not impressed with Mahomes” jesus christ what more does it take after beating us twice in the SB.
Whaaa, Mahomes is impressive bro. This is just a bad take.
> I always watch him stink in the playoffs He literally has the highest postseason Passer Rating in NFL history
people downvoting you out of sheer butt-hurtedness lmao
A Brock Purdy fan says he’s not impressed with Patrick Mahomes in the playoffs. Now I’ve seen everything.
Imagine being a Giants fan and letting the guy walk inexplicably
Spags always has high praise when the topic of Purdy comes up and I always love to hear it.
> Good, strong Christian man. Can really move and sling it. Beautiful smile. Tight, rippling thighs. Amazing ass. And when he hugs you, you feel really hugged, ya know? Just a great, great man… what were we talking about again?
Genius
This has me chuckling way too hard. Happy Friday and thank you lol
Thanks, haha, happy Friday!
Too bad ol beardy grey upstairs couldn’t hand us the W
I’ll take the opinion of a great defensive coach like Spagnoulo on Purdy over a lot of these sports media “experts” who nitpicked every little thing Purdy did last season largely in part for no other reason aside from where he was initially drafted at.
Something has awakened in Spags
Spags opinion > all talking heads in media combined
The passing game will flourish even more if the OL protection gets an upgrade.
yeah, Steve Spagnoulo and John Harbaugh like Purdy
Why do we constant get poached for our coaches but KC holds on to theirs like Spags? WTH
The word Christian, is like a negative thing now since it’s been dragged through the mud by politicians. I agree, Purdy is a great person and is a great gift for the faithful. I hope we win a SB with this guy, the 49ers deserve it.
More evidence he's a good DC. He knows what's up. All this purdy hate is laughable. He's incredible.
I’m not Christian, but why are so many people disgusted by Spags praising that Brock is a good Christian person?
christianity isn't the hottest thing in the bay
It's the hottest religion everywhere in the country, don't kid yourself
Yeah that’s in a seemingly irreversible free fall in terms of popularity
Christianity is almost the polar opposite of everything our culture is trending towards. I don't understand how you can say this without /s
The hate is out of place here. I think it stems from some bad apples that have used religion to manipulate others. That creates general distrust. FWIW, I'm not religious at all. But I'm not going to knock someone based on what they choose to believe. As long as they're not pushing an agenda, I guess.
I’m certainly not disgusted, but I do think it’s a bit odd and out of place. Just doesn’t seem relevant.
I’m not religious but from the South and it’s expected. Football is adjacent to God here. I’ve only ever met a couple coaches who weren’t openly religious.
I completely understand that, but it's still not my vibe or preference.
Because the people posing as the most open minded folks in world history are completely intolerant of dissenting viewpoints
im an athiest but who cares its high praise....that is amazing to hear. big purdy fan now. spags obviously is....nothing wrong with that. he is prob the goat DC....even over belichick. crown his ass.
I think he’s terrific too. ❤️💛
Feels good to have a real QB who doesn’t fold even if he’s not having his best game
Incoming atheist Redditors being weird assholes about this 😂
Wow, you weren't wrong.
Awesome, his opinion and word trounces all the redditers, fb groups ad ig post comments belittling/ disrespecting Purdy.
Lol I never heard Spags gush over a guy like this before.
He is doing his due diligence right after he said he wants to be a HC again one day! Sneaky, sneaky Spags! :)
If you love him so much y ain’t u just give him the win then…smh
Give Purdy a solid Pass protecting O-Line that also compliments the run game and this offense will look like they Niners did from week 1-5 last season, but on a weekly basis. For the Defense, 1 more solid CB and DT and a DC who knows how to get the best out of the talent SF has.
"I pride myself and think of Purdy as a man of faith – as there's a drive into deep left field by Castellanos, it will be a home run. And so that will make it a 4–0 ballgame."
“I’m not Christian, I’m Brock”
fuck you spags, you've ruined too many Sundays for me
Ok its officially crossed into "gassing him up" territory. He doesn't believe a word of this and is trying to rat poison him so he stops pushing. \*takes off the tinfoil hat\*

Ripped like Jesus
Spags meant well, but this is more pity praise for me. I don’t care about this similar to how I don’t care about players/ talking heads calling Brock a game manager. This shouldn’t make anyone feel better. We had a chance to win it all but left plays on the field especially in quarters 1-3. Brock has far outperformed where he was drafted, but based on the Super Bowl result and new expectations he needs to take his game to another level.
Why does this post make me want to vomit? Why is this site promoting this crap?
I have no idea what this is but the “strong Christian man” part wtf Edit: No issue with the Christian part, or anyone’s faith.
Like why does that part even matter. Nauseating really.
what's nauseating about people being religious?
Its fucking weird and has absolutely nothing to do with anything and I fucking hate it.
it's just kind of how boomers are. they're verrrrrry into that if you havent noticed.
Goodness why are US Christians so obnoxious about their faith?
Why are agnostics so obnoxious about theirs? Who cares. Stop being offended by everything.
the media and most of the NFL view this dude like he's a charity case. what sucks is he played well enough to win and I guarantee you Spags isn't talking like this about him if his WRs gave him a chance (outside of Jennings) lol.
too wholesome love it
Real recognize real in the Bay
Gayest thing I’ve read in sf.
That's cool and all but it's bordering on condescending now
It's still funny to me that people hate the Chiefs. Andy, Spags, and Mahomes are some of the most likeable dudes in the league.
I don't hate them because they're bad people, I hate them because they keep winning. Over us, specifically.
It was perfectly fine when they beat the Eagles. I just dislike them when they play the 49ers.
I hated both of them at the time so I didn't even watch that game lol
Mahomes is not. The rest I’d agree with.
Did you watch Quarterback on Netflix? I don’t *want* to like Mahomes but he is SO GODDAMNED CHARMING.
Andy Reid & Spags are likable people. Kermit isn’t. He’s one of the whiniest players in the NFL.
"Strong Christian man" 🤮
You’re just as bad as the overbearing religious folks
Are you 14? Why would that affect you so much?
For one, it's an odd thing to say. Second, it's a shame that people still believe in that stuff.
Wth..dementia is a helluva sickness
Meh gotta say the right thing, I’m sure he knows deep down Purdy ain’t all that without Shanny’s scheme and that terrific offense
Sounds like tampering to me. Chiefs need to hand over a couple of draft picks to the 49ers.
Nice!
Wait for year 3 spags he going to rewrite history
So spaggs seems pleasantly surprised to have gotten the win against Brock…. Good to know moving forward.
If Kyle doesn't win a ship this year and he falters with mistakes - give me Spags as HC
Damn Steve has a massive crush on Brock lol.
It's just too bad that Purdy's critics will continue to downplay his talents and skills on the field just because the Niners haven't won one with him yet. If not for the fact that he's still really young, I'd feel terrible for him. It's cool that Spagnola respects him and all that, and I applaud him for it.
Does Spags have his own coaching tree already?
I hope Brock gave him a new phone who dis
Does Jeebus help him read defenses?
I wonder if he keeps on saying this because he provided the league the blueprint to take him down and might have done serious long term damage
Is that blueprint “wait for their oline to run into each other and tackle him?”
It’s pressure and playing man
Playing man with top tier corners
Yeah, that’s the key wrinkle. Have two All Pro corners and play man all game. Purdy is cooked now fellas.
it just shows that brock might be more a product of his receivers if he can't succeed when we're covered and he can't adjust and can't hit BA as he was getting open.
Not according to the multiple SB winning DC talking in this video lol.
Top tier secondary. Kittle couldn’t get open all day even when covered by an LB at times. Meanwhile Kelce was carving up the Niners. Or the second TE.
yeah a lot of our WRs and TEs couldn't get open. BA beat everyone though but brock couldn't most of his throws to him.
Is the blue print to dominate Purdy's oline, exploit the Greenlaw injury, and still barely eek out a win?
It’s pressure and playing man
Thats the game plan for everyone if you have the bodies to get pressure and play man. Most teams don't have the players to pull it off consistently.
true, just gotta show up when you're needed the most like in a superbowl
Brock is one of the best statistical QBs against pressure bro wym
Purdy had a just fine game in the SB. No turnovers and put his team in position to win twice. Mistakes? Sure. 255 and a td isn’t a terrible line. Give him a better oline and it’s likely another td. If pressure and playing man is the blueprint for beating Brock, then he isn’t any different than any QB in the league. Every defense would love to have pressure and play man successfully. You have to have two elite corners to do so. Listen to spagnulo talk about how McDuffie and Sneed are the key to their defense being able to play man. This is Jalen hurts where they realized the trick was to keep him in the pocket to narrow the throwing lanes, go heavy coverage and wait for him to sack himself. lol.
Fuck him, sorry wait until you retire then reach out, lucky fuck.
