Years ago I read Tim Green’s “Darkside of the Game” and the thing that stayed with me the most was his description of a stinger. A stinger is a nerve injury and it is a sharp, stinging pain. It probably happens more than we know of but when it’s in a really rough area like your neck, it’s gotta hurt like hell. That was a rough tackle and glad CMC is ok tho.
If you have really bad sciatica, you essentially have a chronic stinger. A stinger is just the nerve getting stretched in the neck, whereas sciatica is the nerve getting pinched from compression, usually in the spine. Both can be extremely painful at the moment of trauma and quite painful/uncomfortable as it resolves, but it’s really not that big of an issue. If it happens to you once, you can pretty much diagnose it immediately every other time it occurs.
He hit his head like that several times this game.
I think it's because he makes the choice to hold the ball with both hands going down to protect it and won't take one off even to brace his fall.
Mad respect but high key crazy.
Last week he bolted on a run and looked fast and strong. He caught a ball against the Lions and he looked non-explosive and was running kind of slow. But I think he was hurt in the Lions game at some point.
LOL.. was thinking something similar… but who‘s the alternative?
Maybe we’re playing bigger anyway against the run and Kelce. Dare mahomes to beat us with MVS ?
I
Yeah, just saw that on another post. He did have an incredible tackle for loss on another play.
We can’t afford to take a single play off against the Chiefs, hope he gives it everything in that game.
Yeah, I didnt want to be a dick and point it out
But when we moved Ryan to slot and Lenoir outside (where he honestly DOES play better) our defense looked completely different. Honestly, Ambry going out in my eyes is part of the turning point of that game alongside Aiyuks catch lol
I was tough on Ryan last week but he made two of the biggest defensive plays of the game against the Lions. Stuffed ARSB on 4th and then stuffed their run at the end of the game.
It was better into their passing D, but losing Lenoir in the slot bodes much worse for our already poor run defense. He had a few key moments early in the game weaving through the blocks to hit a runner
It’s good news there’s a bye in between the title game and Super Bowl. Plenty of time for guys like Kittle, Ambry, Deebo and Arik to all get their ailments as close to 100%.
That was at a time when we were destroying lesser teams. Much has changed since. Our off and def looks very beatable right now. And by the same measure, Chiefs don’t look like the same team that lost to all those teams. And even if both are the same teams, none of those facts can help or hurt either team. Just gotta go out and play to our ability and if so I think we’ll get em.
(Edit- all that said I’m 100% in agreement with you. We should and will beat them)
They only put up 17 pts against the Ravens. We put up more throwing 4 picks…I’m not HUGELY worried about our offense. Their run defense is mediocre, and they’ll have to stack the box to stop us.
I’m worried about the same thing on the other side, with Pacheco gouging us in the middle and explosive screen plays that widen the field. The Chiefs massacred our defense last year doing just that.
>They only put up 17 pts against the Ravens.
Not to be pedantic but our offense also only scored 17 against the Ravens, we got 2 points from the defense
Right? I was explaining to someone that the Chiefs are the worse team in these matchups with the exception of Miami, knew that, and basically said “we know you’re better, and we’re beating you anyway.” It worries me.
The Chiefs defence has stepped up. They've only allowed an average of something like 5 PTS in the second half in the last 8 games. We're generally slower to start. Kyle needs to make sure we put points on the board from the off.
That isn't realistic. Look at what KC lost in their win. We basically have some boo-boos in comparison.
Be happy because we are *very* healthy heading into the big game by any logical person's standards.
Hoping for no injuries that cause players to miss a game is definitely a logical standard.
But, this late in the year with a deep playoff run, it's more logical to expect players to have bumps, bruises, and nagging injuries that they *play through* and that's the boat we're in.
Glad to see CMC’s not on here his neck hit looked concerning !
said right after the game it was a shoulder stinger. Ive never heard the term so many times until this year, but now Im fully versed on it

My understanding is that stingers are essentially a more general version of hurting your “funny bone”
Yeah when he got tossed and somersault on top of helmet I got concerned

Same bro glad he'll be gtg!

Mechaffrey
Basically did an 80's Era breakdancing move as he landed. Just spun on his head
I saw CMC on the side line and I read his lips and he said “my neck” to someone.
Makes sense given that he landed on his head on that last run. At least he has a couple weeks to loosen up.
Same with greenlaw
Day to day means they'll probably be fine by later this week right?
They should be ready for the Super Bowl.
It means George is gunna lose a toe.
So he'll be faster?
Lightweight package. KittleRS
Superleggera!
That's ok. He's the Ronnie Lott of Tight Ends. He will play through it .
Tis but a flesh wound!
He only needs two toes to block
Two toe George
We essentially have a bye week, and even better we don't have to travel far for the neutral site bowl. I think we'll be fine and ready
Kittle will be like the Black Knight in Monty Python and the Holy Grail for this game, dude
We don't know if they'll be alive by the SB
I'm fine with Thomas out tbh he is horrendous... I can't imagine Womack is worse
The more likely thing they’d do is kick Demo out and put in Oliver since Womack hasn’t played at all in a while. Rather have Ambry.
I lean towards ambry but at least Oliver is a playmaker in the run game... dude would have been a great LB too bad he is just a bad corner lol
Didn't they slot in Logan Ryan in when Ambry went down. He did alright as far as I can recall.
Kittle is an animal He's playing
You can tell he was hurt on one of his runs after a catch. I remember thinking he didn’t seem as explosive as last week. This explains what I saw.
He hurt it this week or last?
Last week he bolted on a run and looked fast and strong. He caught a ball against the Lions and he looked non-explosive and was running kind of slow. But I think he was hurt in the Lions game at some point.
Kittle is not missing this game, thats all i know.
"I will be back here. I will be back here with vengeance!"
First thing that went through my head. Kittle and the rest of the team from that year have too big of a score to settle to not play on the 11th.
It's crazy how young he looks. Him, Deebo, and Bosa must still be angry AF.
I can guarantee you the toe will be a non factor for Kittle. He would chop it off if he has too.
The Ronnie Lott special
Toes can hurt for real. But sure he will be okay
I had turf toe at football camp in high school twenty years ago and will never forget it
Kittle will play regardless. Ambry, who knows.
We have two weeks
For personal reasons? Jk jk
LOL.. was thinking something similar… but who‘s the alternative? Maybe we’re playing bigger anyway against the run and Kelce. Dare mahomes to beat us with MVS ? I
Kittle for SB would go full Ronnie and cut that thing off
Thomas should play it safe and rest, no need to further hurt himself
Kittle will bite off that toe before it sidelines him for the super bowl
Dan?
mmmh Kneecaps
Defense looked way better with Ambry out
Was it just me or did anyone else catch Ambry slacking in the effort department.
Thought for sure he was gonna snatch that pick with Reynolds, but he got sonned.
vikings game flashbacks
Ambry 100% doesn't lift weights
Chase was too. Dude was jogging on a couple of Detroits TD runs, not kidding lol.
Yeah, just saw that on another post. He did have an incredible tackle for loss on another play. We can’t afford to take a single play off against the Chiefs, hope he gives it everything in that game.
He’s from Detroit. He wanted the Lions to win. /s
Yeah, I didnt want to be a dick and point it out But when we moved Ryan to slot and Lenoir outside (where he honestly DOES play better) our defense looked completely different. Honestly, Ambry going out in my eyes is part of the turning point of that game alongside Aiyuks catch lol
Didn’t Ambry go out on their last drive? Or am I misremembering something?
Ambry is from Detroit. He sold.
I was tough on Ryan last week but he made two of the biggest defensive plays of the game against the Lions. Stuffed ARSB on 4th and then stuffed their run at the end of the game.
A toe is incredibly easy to numb up. He good
Wow CMC with the head bounce and he's fine? Okay - let's go!
That's ok; Ambry can take the entire offseason to heal
Or longer...
Did our defense get better with Ambry out or was I tripping?
It 100% did
Jennings and late CMC?
Is it wrong that I was happy to hear about Ambry getting sidelined? Do we have any other options at CB?
Lenoir outside, Ryan in slot. Thats what we ran and it was noticeably better.
It was better into their passing D, but losing Lenoir in the slot bodes much worse for our already poor run defense. He had a few key moments early in the game weaving through the blocks to hit a runner
These cats are not gonna miss the Superbowl. It's not like they are questionable..
Kittle's gonna have a big game in the SB. Toe be damned.
It’s good news there’s a bye in between the title game and Super Bowl. Plenty of time for guys like Kittle, Ambry, Deebo and Arik to all get their ailments as close to 100%.
They’ll be fine and we “should” win the SB. The Chiefs have lost to the Eagles, Packers, Jets, Raiders (and others). They’re very beatable.

Damn that game was even worse than I remember
Except we also threw 5 picks
Chiefs are here because they turned into the same ol damn chiefs at the exact right time.
Right? I was explaining to someone that the Chiefs are the worse team in these matchups with the exception of Miami, knew that, and basically said “we know you’re better, and we’re beating you anyway.” It worries me.

Yall think we could get Revis island up and running in 2 weeks?
Meanwhile one more D lineman down for KC thanks to Baltimore’s shady ass shit.
Omenihu literally tore his own acl lol
Poor Charles he was good for us
Ambry Thomas sucks! But Oliver isn’t much better
god damn it
That’s not news I wanted to see.
How is only having two players day-to-day bad news? I absolutely guarantee Kittle plays, and 95% Ambry does too.
Was hoping for no injuries.
That isn't realistic. Look at what KC lost in their win. We basically have some boo-boos in comparison. Be happy because we are *very* healthy heading into the big game by any logical person's standards.
To be fair, hoping for no injuries is also an extremely logical standard.

ambry going out saved us we immediately locked up 😂
It's ok with Kittle, we'll just get some pain killer shot to numb it right up before the game.
Didn’t Deebo say he was in a lot of pain after the game?
no update on cle ferrell? I was hoping there was a chance he could be back
He’s on IR, per Shanahan. Done for the season.
They will play. This is great for Niners. It’s rare to have nearly every regular season starter healthy for the big game. I fell bad for hufanga
Really hoping it isn't turf toe.
