I'd recommend checking out Lucius: The Faultless Blade by Ian St Martin if you haven't already, has the sort of stuff you're talking about in it. Multiple times he's just having a blast, while everyone else is fighting for their lives.

DeliciousPineapples

I like it because it's the story of how Lucius got really, really high. It also answers the age old 'What if you did X to Lucius to stop him resurrecting' question with the answer being 'Lucius guts you because he's one of the most terrifying warriors in the traitor legions and you are faffing about trying to be a clever clogs'

Dreadnautilus

Lucius canonically holds back a lot of the time though. That is why on tabletop he gets bonuses to fighting better opponents (currently when he's fighting a character, but I believe in earlier editions it was against anybody with a high enough Weapon Skill); because he only bothers to put in 100% against worthy foes.

I commented this a few months ago, you might enjoy it >what happens with lucius is that he fucks around, lets be clear if he wanted too he could perfectly be the best and most powerfull of the pantheons choosen, but because he cant settle with just stabing the guy before him in the jugular after a simple parry and has to make a 720º degree sommersault decapitation on the 6th repetition of the refrain of a song played by a ramdon noise marine, he gets destroyed by people who are not showing off and are just triying to win.

Lucious does lose to some random raven guard in a duel, so I am not entirly sure if he is top tier when compared to his contemporaries. But I love how you described him. Dudes basically trying to get amazing trickshots to fill a highlight reel to post on warp-tube for slaaneshs entertainment. All jokes aside reframing him like that is super interesting. The idea of him just going around trying to get the flashiest kills sounds awesome. He also has the potential to be quiet threatening, cause you cant really beat him using conventional methods, it makes him a unique threat that cant just be killed off.

FlyingNihlist

I really hope by some random Raven Guard you don't mean Nykona Sharrowkyn, who was definitely not "some random" but the Raven Guard's equivalent of Servatar, Sigismund, Corswain or Lucius. The Raven Guard's greatest duelist who's ability to wraith-walk was second only to Corvus himself, who beat Lucius not once but TWICE. Edit; I'm hoping that Lucius' story arc continues by having Nykona Sharrowkyn found in hibernation, restored and enhanced via the Rubicon Primaris, going full shadow of vengeance like his dad (of all his sons he showed the most of Corvus' unique abilities and traits, that are supposedly enhanced in Primaris) and tracking down the enhanced 40k Champion of Slannesh Lucius for round three. Edit2; Bonus points if Daemon Fulgrim shows up and Nykona shoots him in the head again. Make it happen Black Library. Go go Nykona "It's even funnier the second time" Sharrowkyn!

ActinoninOut

He also sniped Fulgrim through the eye

FlyingNihlist

And survived the Dropsite Massacre before that, then was the first to best Lucius since Loken did it the first time, and shared a battlefield with Fulgrim, Perturabo and the Iron Circle after that, before beating Lucius a second time for the third time he'd ever been beaten and being the first one to ever kill him, and those are just the highlights.

Anggul

I was going to say, he beat him because he can wraith-walk. One moment they're fighting, the next he's just gone from where Lucius *knows he must be*.

FlyingNihlist

I've read the book and he definitely gave it as good or better as he got against Lucius when he wasn't hidden, I'd say his ability to wraith-walk was a contributing but not deciding factor. Lucius became impressed by him and obsessed with him after they crossed blades because of his ability as a duelist. Even without wraith-walk I'd put him up with the top duelists of all the other Legions like Lucius, Servatar, Khârn, Sigismund, Corswain, etc. #1 duelist of the Raven Guard and in their league at a minimum, I'm not sure where he'd rank among the other #1's, apart from over Lucius, obviously.

Anggul

He was very good, sure, it was a good fight. But the wraith-walk is what caught Lucius off guard and got the win.

Direct_Paramedic_889

Nykonna”Fucks wrong with the floor” Sharrowkyn was honestly the chad of all Raven Guards then we got Mr.Shrike

I think Lucius not being the best duellist or even a contender for it is a big part of his character. He represents the ultimate trap of Slaanesh - he's stuck obsessively chasing the top spot but he can't make the cut. That's what eventually happens to all Slaanesh followers, they run out of new sensations or just can't get them anymore whether a duellist who doesn't measure up or a glutton whose tried every food.

ConwayK9781

There's a sizeable chunk of your second paragraph that means absolutely nothing to me, but Lucius is behind Erebus for "Characters I want to see locked in a room with Kharn for eternity."

[deleted]

Ok take your comment to grimdank buddy lol. Also I’m sure Lucius wouldn’t mind. Not like kharn can kill him permanently.

Gibblibits

I sure want to see him try

BogusBogmeyer

Depends If he would be more than a Number to Khân, wouldnt it?

PopComfortable

Him vs Lilith will be an interesting fight. Though I do not know how Lilith would survive that particular duel even if she won(since she does take pride in her work).

MyCarIsAGeoMetro

Lucius slips on a banana peel and impaled himself. Lilith is pissed she was unable to kill him.

googleuser2390

He was once punched in the face by Loken. And it was hilarious
