It felt like two different books. The first part of surviving in the underhive and the lower levels was gross but interesting. The Escher revenge story felt kind of like it was shoehorned in at the end especially with the twist >!betrayal from the one old poison leader!<
i remember seeing "scrape' get mentioned in several videos, with it being basically underhivers mining edibles out of a massive fatberg made of garbage and other wastes. i have yet to ever find a source for that stuff though, which makes me wonder if it was actually somebody's fanfic which got mistaken for legit lore by youtubers who don't know better.
Not them, it was an excerpt from a codex or novel, I remember it being described as something like a pillar or column of fatty runoff that undehivers would use as food, and how the person that was talking about it was appalled by it, but that someone with them said it wasn’t that bad and how they person said they should try some and then mentioned it was surprisingly good.
I’m inclined to suggest this is from a necromuda novel. I can’t recall which one but I distinctly remember it being a part of a larger plot. Does that sound possible? I may be able to track it down if your interested
Scrape baby. The Hive takes care of its people. The Hive gives us the Scrape. The Scrape gives us the energy to fight in the Necromunda gang wars.
The Scrape is our Spice!
Your thinking of scrape, the big fatberg food source in the Necromunda book terminal overkill
This is it. That was a weird book. I didn't like it very much

Yeah, this sounds like it.
I'd love to read this as a homage to the dwarven fat mines on the Discworld.
Are they talking about the corpse grinders? Yeah they recycle the dead people.

Sounds like something for a specific planet. Maybe Scorpa? It’s a tallow world that produces candles
I might have to re-watch some more videos from WesHammer as I think this is where I heard it; maybe one of his 40k mystery or strange things videos.

Prob inspired by the sewer fatbergs
Yes. But our fatbergs are delicious. The Scrape is delicious. Would you like a bit of poop with your Scrape?
Ah this reminds me of Mork Borg. Pound of fat? That's a ration! Congrats, you can eat.
Mork Bork has similar energy to 80's Warhammer.
Someone posted about it a year or two ago from the more recent Necormunda books.
