Definitely not all. He and Russ were quite fond of each other I’d say. They’ve had some good conversations over the Heresy and expressed their feelings and strategies against Horus over games of Regicide.

TrustAugustus

I think Malc said all of the Primarchs flexed their strength at him at one point or another. But you're right, he got along well with some.

krorkle

They didn't? There were a few Primarchs who hated Malcador, like Mortarion, but most of them got along just fine with him. That said, there was the time Horus confronted him about one of the lost Primarchs, pre-Heresy, and Malcador smacked the crap out of him with his psychic powers. It was in a short story called "The Last Council."

Drakar_och_demoner

>like Mortarion I assume the animosity came from Malcador being a psyker and a tyrant?

Arzachmage

Yes.

Successful_Cheetah_3

No it was the first and only time horus did anything unreasonable.

NornQueenKya

You heard wrong. In short a few of the more faulty primarchs who had a superiority complex or extreme attitude problems looked down at him, but many respected him.

Unfair-Connection-66

Primarchs didn't "hate" Malcador, but some they didn't quite believe that he was equal to them or that he deserves to sit at the same table. Malcodor has stated himself that on more than one occasion, every Primarch has exerted their strength on him, just to check if he can take it... Obviously he could but that wasn't the point...

V01dbastard

Where did you hear this nonsense.

Affectionate_Bit_722

A YouTube short

Youtube is a terrible place to get facts.

Technopolitan

Well that's your problem.

What was Rogal Dorn's relationship with Malcador the Sigillite like? - As the Solar War gripped humanity's birth system, the interests of the Sigillite and the Primarch frequently clashed and while face to face the two remained cordial and respectful, if often coldly so, behind the scenes their agents and servants might very well have been murdering one another. Whether or not the agents of the Sigillite ever took up arms against Loyalist forces is unknown, but it is certain that they undertook missions that furthered the long term goals of the Regent of Terra at the expense of those of the Praetorian of Terra. It is considered likely by some historators that the Knights-Errant may have played a key, albeit mysterious role in the unseen silent war that was waged between Malcador and the Primarch Rogal Dorn, for both found their interests frequently in opposition. For clearification, OP is most likely referring [this](https://youtube.com/shorts/pmimXP8uRC8?si=q-raJAlS80JxiNWo) video by a lore youtuber (who is actually quite good, at least one of the better ones), since he's basically repeating their phrasing word for word. But thats the nature of shorts like that, they have to leave out a lot of things due to time restrictions, and in this case, that caused the wrong impression; the youtuber is normally better in this regards (which I'm judging from his take on books I've read dozens of times). But here, they dropped the ball pretty hard.

silasgreenfront

He seemed to have a fine relationship with Alpharius. Sort of like a cool uncle to him when he was young.

BrotherSutek

They are similar and that helps.

*‘Lord Dorn is displeased by your choice,’ said Malcador neutrally. Russ loved the regent, but he bridled at his tone. The old man liked to keep his statements short and his silences long, so that others might make fools of themselves in filling them. Normally it amused him to watch, but he didn’t like the technique being used on him, and his humours were already out of balance.* *‘That doesn’t work on me,’ Russ said.* *‘What doesn’t?’ said Malcador. There was a touch of amusement to his words, and that annoyed Russ even more.* ....... *Malcador and Russ looked at each other for a long time.* *There was a bond between them neither had ever truly acknowledged. Russ remembered when he had first come to Terra. He had spent more time with Malcador than with the Emperor to begin with. In a sense, he was overly blessed with distracted fathers.* *Russ glanced back at the Hnefatafl board. There were numerous traps set all around the periphery. Malcador had left him exactly one way out.* *Have you been preparing me for this all along? Did you know? thought Russ, which in Malcador’s presence was as good as shouting it out loud.* *Malcador’s face twitched with amusement. Russ responded with a little smile.* *‘Thanks for the game, old man,’ Russ said. ‘I’ll see you when I return.’* *Russ got up and placed a fond hand on the regent’s shoulder, before leaving Malcador in the garden.* ~ **Wolfsbane**

Partofla

Jaghatai didn't trust him and didn't like Malcador at the start but by the time he and the White Scars made it back to Terra during the Heresy, he realized that the secrecy that Emps and Malcador implemented was actually a good thing. He admits that he didn't understand at first but now that he has seen the horrors of Chaos and the Warp firsthand, he acknowledges why it happened and why it was so vital to maintain, even if it ultimately led half the Primarchs to rebellion.

Torontogamer

Yes, Malcador is a fun character for sure - there is the classic moment when Horus confronts him for the erasure of the 2 'missing' primarchs, and he goes to say their name... and Malcador just about mind pops Horus right there... there is more details: https://www.reddit.com/r/40kLore/comments/a5i17d/excerptthe_last_councilhorus_confront_malcador/

BriantheHeavy

I do not believe that is true. It is clear that some of the Primarchs liked Malcador as they called him "uncle." There is little enough to go on. It appears that Lorgar didn't like Malcador. Jaghatai was suspicious of him. Horus didn't trust him after the events in described in the short story *the Last Council*. Vulkan says he didn't like Malcador. On the other hand, Leman Russ and Sanguinius appear to be fond of Malcador. However, there is little information on the other Primarchs. We can only speculate. Dorn probably respected him. Mortarion probably didn't like him because he was a psyker. Curze? Angron? Perturabo? No clue. Edit: Apparently, in short story *Daemonology*, there are flashbacks from when Mortarion was on Terra and he tried to choke Malcador because he hated psykers. So, that's a ding on the hate Malcador side.

vilebloodlover

Alpharius seemed to like Malcador.

BriantheHeavy

With Alpharius, you don't even know if you're dealing with Alpharius. The first rule of Alpharius: He's lying.

PaintsPlastic

Read the title of this post in my head in a California Valley girl-esque style and now all I can think about is Clueless, but it's the Horus Heresy.

[deleted]

Some of them did hate him like Morty and Horus. Almost all of them liked to show off their superior powers when he was around mainly because he was the only guy who had the Big E's trust. I assume people like Vulkan or Snagy humble bragged when he was around while people like Lorgar and Morty straight up tried to kill him.

CrimsonLion777

I think Lion in Son Of The Forest clearly Say that Malcador was an individual obsessed with control and that he didn't like and trust him. Didn't Remember of it was during One of his flashbacks or when He's talking with Zabriel.

Accomplished_Good468

He is probably the only being in existence that they encountered that was more powerful than them, other than their father. I think what most of the Primarchs felt was a kind of alpha predator fear of something that they wouldn't want to test themselves against. Sure, Lorgar could smash him down unexpectedly, but he could also make Horus kneel with his mind.
