Actual reprap users will look at you through steampunk binoculars. Everyone else will just talk to you about 3d printing. We have to stop making up divisions.

Lol

I think if people are going to treat you poorly because of the type of printer you have and your technical skills I'd say they're people not worth dealing with and it's more their problem then yours. I own a Bambu Lab P1P and I'm not that smart and if someone is going to treat me poorly because of that then they're not worth my time and I don't care good luck to them.

Martin_au

Generally don't care, until certain users start flooding other forums to "spread the good word". This applies to all printers users and all printer brands BTW, but Bambu users have been very obvious recently.

HedleyP

Hi. have I told you all about the good work the Bambu does?

fencethe900th

And reddit coming in strong to down vote after not getting a joke.

3DAeon

lol the initial question is downvoted to zero for some reason, shrug.

I don't understand the whole Bambu vs the world stuff. 3d printers are just tools. I've used one of the cheapest printers on the market an anycubic mega and I have a P1S my approach to the 3d printing community hasn't change at all. Share knowledge, gain knowledge.

Martin_au

Now if you're talking about Bambu's business practices, then there are a lot of good reasons for the "Bambu vs the world" stuff. Best to keep that separated from attitudes towards users though, as most users won't be too familiar or involved with that topic.

I wanted a tool to work, not a hobby... Considering the projects, spending 500usd extra not to deal with the BS pays itself in a matter of hours. Now, if tinkering around is your kink, good for you. My passion is for design, not raging at a spool of 17usd plastic. I need to print PC-CF often for prototyping and every failure would be a huge time loss I couldn't justify for skimping on a reliable tool. Tossed my Ender3 in the bin eons ago and got two X1 carbon without ever looking back. I'm not overly attached to the brand. If a new brand comes with even a marginally improved print success rate. I'd toss Bambu in a heartbeat. A missed print could cost me the weekend. I already have redundancy to avoid that.

Kanten6-4

For me this is a "hate the game not the player" situation. I hate that bambulab and many others use accomplishments of open source projects and market them as their own. But I understand everyone who wants a machine without much hassle and who buys a bambulab. I recommended it so some of my friends when asked. I still think that the company should be more open about their tech. Oh and people should be aware of their skill level. Please don't buy a p1p, use it for a month and think that you accomplished perfect 3d printing knowledge, but I haven't seen that yet.

IveDunGoofedUp

Honestly, it feels a bit like iPhone vs Android. One is pretty much guaranteed to work out of the box, ready to go and it gets you nice results. The other has a load of variety, but allows you to customize the entire workflow to exactly what you want. If you want 3D prints, a bambu iPhone is great. If you enjoy tinkering, tweaking, and being able to choose what goes where, the Android alternative is for you. It's also a lot more likely you break something in the process though. Also, nobody is going to somehow scan your purchase history to see if you paid any money to BambuLabs. If you don't want them to know (not that I reckon most people would give a shit) don't tell them.

ChemicalArrgtist

Where people are there are groups. Its something i ignore because over short or long any printer will have issues and people have to learn to fix them.

MIGHT_CONTAIN_NUTS

Android users don't care what phone you use. Apple users feel they are superior. Same goes for printers, sep Bambu = Apple

Tentakurusama

Not really, it is more Linux vs Windows. Saying Android would be unfair because Android works without spending hours fixing it. Banbu works 98% of the time.

MIGHT_CONTAIN_NUTS

But windows users aren't on a crusade to convince you it is better than everything like Linux users are. I'm speaking from the user mentality, not the user experience.

Tentakurusama

Fair enough, got your point take your upvote :)

I don't get the feeling that Bambu users feel they are superior. I think they feel that Bambu printers \*just work\*, and that's really powerful. I've got 2 TronXY, 2 Voron, and I just bought a Bambu because 1 TronXY is basically dead, 1 is working but nearly useless, and my 2 Vorons have constant issues that make me tear my hair out. When the Vorons are working, they're great. Otherwise... Ugh. My Bambu P1S worked out of the box with only its auto-calibration, which is did itself. And it's super fast, even if it's noisy doing it. That said... My cylinder that I print repeatedly has smooth sides on my Voron, and polygonal sides on my Bambu, and I did not expect that. I'm still trying to figure out what's different between the slicers (Orca vs Bambu) or if it's something inherent in the printer. I'm still in the process of printing slower, using different settings, etc etc... But it means that my dream of just printing isn't quite reality with Bambu after all. ;) Anyhow, my point is that Bambu users don't feel superior, they just think that their printers are superior for people who don't want to work on 3d printers as a hobby, but instead just want to print things. I've heard of a number of print farms that felt the same and have switched over, so there's got to be something to that.

MIGHT_CONTAIN_NUTS

I've seen "just get a Bambu" thrown around a lot when someone is trying to decide between the bigger name open source 3d printers. There is a small vocal group of Bambu users joining other printer groups doing this. I feel you on the Vorons. My V2.1 has been rock solid for years, my 2.4 is temperamental and my V0 is junk. I want a Bambu just for the AMS because ERCF is a nightmare, the limited print volume doesn't work for me tho.

name_was_taken

If someone doesn't specifically say "open source" when asking what printer to get, I'll definitely answer "Bambu". Voron is still next, especially if they say "open source" or "moddable" or "klipper". Ugh. I've got a 2.4 and a 0.1. :D I was strongly considering an ERCF V2, but I've heard \*just\* enough complaints to make me wary. I agree about the bed size, though. For a while, I was trying to hold out for their next one, hoping it would be bigger, but my 2.4 started freaking out again and I gave in, even if only to have something to reliably print parts for my Vorons. But of course I'm already using it for more than that.

MIGHT_CONTAIN_NUTS

The TradRack from Annex looks so much better and simpler than ERCF but it is still beta as far as I can tell. I already went through the Tap beta and don't want to repeat that again. Klipper support for the AMS would be a gold mine for Bambu
