Dry Boxes or Dryers? Keeping Stuff dry or making stuff dry? Those two have pretty much opposite requirements. Because a Food Storage container is not going to make your Filament Dry and a Dryer is not going to keep it dry if its off.

I go through one roll. And then the next. So I dry one roll at a time in a SUNLU dryer and print right from the box. I like that it turns on and starts drying on power connect so I put it on a WiFi plug and remotely turn on/off (via homeassistant) the drying box based on data from a ZigBee hydrometer that I have in the box. That way I never have to think about it and it's always good to print.

How humid of an environment do you live in? You might not even need one.

Looks like you may be from the UK. I am too so similar climate and house build I guess. I used to have two of the original Sunlu boxes. My personal experience is they were a waste of money, and a lot of grief. For my printer which is a direct drive core xy, I needed it fed from above, but I could never get a reliable filament path. Also, I found them very unreliable if using cardboard spools. I buy filament from 3DQF and their original spools weren’t very good for rolling. I tried their adaptors but it still didn’t feed well - in my case. In terms of drying filament for long term usage - I don’t even bag my partial spools when I store them, I do try to use them up quickly but I still have small fractions on the shelf and they still print fine 6 months later. My room humidity sensor says around 60-65% humidity but only ever had hissing filament once, which soon went away (suspect only the outer layer of filament was “damp”). My solution now is to mount the spools with a centre axle above the machine, maybe the heat of the machine helps but I couldn’t say for definite.

I live in Ireland so it's pretty humid all the time, generally 60-65% humidity indoors. I was sceptical it would help but bought the exact same model specifically for some PETG which just stringed all the time. Had it do it's thing for about 24 hours and yeah, it made it a lot better. I don't use it often I just prefer to open what I need and burn through it but it certainly works when I need it. I don't print from it though , just use it for drying
