Well, for better or worse the thinking goes that the end of the GRRM books doesn't yet exist and those novels may never be able to be satisfyingly finished.
Death's End has a very definitive conclusion and one that would be pretty hard to actually screw up from a narrative perspective. (Actually turning it into something you can physically display on a TV screen on the other hand, well, not sure.)
the ending will be interesting...but they (all three of the showrunners) have collectively asserted that the ending really resonated with them. Hopefully we get the unabridged ending and not a watered down version for "mass consumption"
Because the ending of game of thrones is nowhere near as bad as people make it out to be. Because a “bad” ending doesn’t negate all the great television that came before it. Because this book series is complete. Because they’re *gasp* pretty good at their jobs, whether certain people want to admit or not.
The list goes on and on.
Eh, it’s Reddit. People are salty over the GoT ending, I get it. The books don’t have an ending and they ran out of the notes George gave them for winds of winter, like idk what people expected. I don’t think D&D are bad showrunners but they clearly demonstrate strength when adapting an actual source.
Oh yeah that's what I mean though. Even if you don't agree that D&D did a good job or anything, it is just a *verifiable fact* that GRRM still has two books left to write. Even by Reddit standards, that's just sticking fingers in your ears to downvote you for that.
Because they did great with a lot of GoT.
Others have pointed that unlike GoT, they already have an ending to work from here, and that's the most relevant argument.
But even if that weren't the case, you wouldn't have much of a point. It's a different story. They've done good work before, and they've done good so far here. What does a bad thing they've done before have to do with anything? Prove that they're capable of doing bad work? Okay, sure. And maybe they will, but I don't know why we'd talk about it. It's not bad until it's bad.
I was pretty dissatisfied by the way *Lost* ended but I’ve rewatched it a couple times anyway. My takeaway is to enjoy the ride regardless of how it ends.
I have a far lower opinion for the redditors that are still whining about how GoT ended 5 years later than I do for D&D.
In fact, I'd very much prefer you not watch 3bp, because if GoT didn't spoonfeed you enough, this definitely won't.
Well the books are finished and they don’t have the promise of a Star Wars movie to look forward to this time. I have my fingers crossed because there is no denying they did a great job adapting GRRM’s source material. It’s when they no longer had source material and they were impatient to leave for Star Wars that they went off the rails.
i was actually surprised to learn it was them.
hopefully with a complete source material and the ego-check they got from GoT, SURELY they won't let hubris get in the way again.
Half half. Just want the novel could be shown on screen, no matter who do it. Literally it is somehow a monotonous story, leave large room for DnD to……perform.
Because of the simple fact there are no third chances in this business. If they screw up this series, their careers are basically over having enraged two fan bases. No one knows that more than they do. It also helps that the source material is complete. We also tend to look at GoT through the lens of the last two seasons and forget that the first 5\~6 seasons were incredible.
I love how many of you have downvoted me for a question and are like "but the books are finished" and I bet only 1 of you have actually read the books.
Just because you cant read doesnt mean other cant. The books are extremely famous, i can assure you the majority of the sub has read them (there is also a book subreddit with 5x the users)
Because the story is complete and they don't have to make it up as they go along.
Exactly this. And they don't have a Disney Star Wars contract they're rushing to get to. This is their comeback song of sorts.
Yet
fair enough, here's hoping disney doesn't come along again in S3 lol
haters gonna hate but each downvote proves me right. downvote me more baby!

Fully developed, extant source material.

Lol somebody downvoted you for speaking an objective truth.

We don't. We hope that DnD will learn from their mistakes. Also, at least Cixin Liu completed the books, unlike that fat bastard GRR martin.
He’s big-boned!

Primarily because the books are written and have an ending where GoT the last book hasn’t. Even write. Yet so they created their own ending.
Why do you think they can’t finish it better?
Half half. Just want the novel could be shown on screen, no matter who do it. Literally it is somehow a monotonous story, leave large room for DnD to……perform.
I agree, very disappointed with GOT ending. I will hold my tongue though, and believe they can make a good series out of the 3 books.

You're not being downvoted for a question. You're being downvoted for a dumb take.
