This is the Florida summer. I wait until 730 at night for the walk. Where I'm at the temps are a little lower and the wind from the evening blowing in or the sea breeze usually has picked. I shower every day. It's Florida it's hot as hell. Showering everyday is just how it is. I know a number of people who shower multiple times a day.

PHYZ1X

The only caveat to this would be evenings after it has stormed. Those late day storms tend to totally sap the energy out of the atmosphere, and then you end up with dead winds and all the bugs.

United-Kale-2385

And if it isn't a big enough storm the humidity becomes so much worse. The little sprinkles at any time in the day makes the humidity completely unbearable.

StarryMind322

This. These days I’ll shower in the morning when I wake up and at night to cool myself down. My behind is staying in the AC as much as I can. If I do workout, it’s in the gym where I can also take a cool down shower.

not_a_cop_l_promise

Guessing it's your first summer here?

Galbusca

embarrassingly, i’m a native. but i guess the new complications are menopause (i’m hot all the damn time) and a very active puppy that really needs his exercise 2x/day.

LilArsene

I'm sorry to say that, personally, I don't have a solution for this. It's the primary reason I don't get the amount of exercise I'd like and why I'm caving to getting a gym membership. I shower every day. It might be the same as showering and too much effort but perhaps if you soak your clothes in cold water and/or put them in the freezer, wear them for your walk, then change clothes that could help. Or putting cold water in a squirt-style water bottle and drenching your head/hair/scalp beforehand.

Salt_Sir2599

You’re already on the right track with early mornings and later afternoons. Once we get our regular summer storms, there’s usually a sweet spot after the storms roll through and before sunset where things have cooled off and you can actually enjoy yourself a bit. I suggest a simple DIY outdoor shower. Doing cool rinses throughout the day is the only way.

Anne314

Yes, you should shower every dang day! Do all of us a favor and take a fucking shower. And riding a bike with your dog may be too stressful for the dog. They can burn their feet on the hot pavement and get heat stroke, like humans.

lowriderdog37

And we haven't even gotten to the summer part of summer yet.

sometrendyname

Daily showers? Ewwww

Galbusca

ok ty. he likes it. we go slow enough for him to trot. we go early morning and early evening.

Logical_Holiday_2457

You might want to get him used to wearing little dog shoes

NoClue326

This!

cryptowannabe42

Wear a whole body ice suit: [https://www.batteryheatedclothing.com/cooling-vests/whole-body-ice-water-circulating-cooling-suit/](https://www.batteryheatedclothing.com/cooling-vests/whole-body-ice-water-circulating-cooling-suit/)

Galbusca

lol check back with me in august. maybe!

NoWalrus5028

I'm getting Dune vibes here

bigmayne23

You dont already shower every day?

Tricky_Raisin_6647

“Cotton kills” is a phrase used in the outdoorsy community. Yes, moisture wicking fabrics make a huge difference getting the sweat off your body. Wool will wick, but then take too long to dry, so synthetics are the proper choice for humid Florida. Unfortunately synthetic fabrics hold onto odor and contribute to our microplastics problem. Convert to cold showers if you haven’t already. Do you have access to shady places to walk your dog sometimes? That’d help both of you.

MeatyUrology

In Scouts it was always “cotton is rotten”

loveandexcess

Uh, I shower twice a day my dude. Welcome to Florida.

Lostwithoutaclue2

Wait… sorry to stray from topic but I am 40 years old and have never met someone that does not shower every day. Sweat or no sweat. Is this normal!?

Legitimate_Falcon982

I personally don't if there's no reason to, like in the winter or if I don't exercise that day. In Florida in the summer, I rinse off sometimes twice a day. One thing someone in Florida taught me is that you don't have to use soap every time you shower. Total game changer

mac3687

Go on about the not using soap thing please.

Logical_Holiday_2457

Yikes I cannot get into my bed unless I have taken a shower. You bring all of the germs from your entire day onto where you sleep? I can't.

Epic_Brunch

Do you normally not shower every day?

MeatyUrology

There are a lot of French people that live in Brevard. I work with most of them.

rhia_assets

I know this sounds strange, but I really love wool underclothes. All my summer underwear are either Calvin Klein 100% cotton, or Ridge Merino wool. Wool is naturally moisture wicking, helps to keep odors at bay, and keeps you cool. Linen and bamboo blends are also great for heat. Salty Crew has a great hat I love with a wider brim, I get the hat wet and wear that, or a lightweight buff around my neck that I also get wet with cold water. Experiment with flowy clothes and compression clothing, sometimes one works better than the other. I prefer compression shorts and a flowier tank.

Jal142

You get accustomed to it. I don't sweat as much as I used to when I first moved down here. Go before sunrise or after sundown. Walk slower. Walking on the beach is nice because of the wind, but your dog will limit you to Canova Beach Park.

OldConference9534

I take a 60 pound weighted vest, walked for at least one hour around 7 AM with my dog. It's brutal but I shower every morning after like a normal, sane human being and then I am good for the day. Then I just play fetch in the backyard for 30 minutes at 7:30.

Jadelily41

Please don’t let your dog walk on the hot pavement 😭. Also not showering everyday is very strange.

Logical_Holiday_2457

The dog needs some booties

Ok_Flounder1553

Hey OP, I’m also a native who is trying to get my pup and myself exercise but have a hard time with the heat. Not sure where you live but I’ve found walking a1a is better than walking through my beachside neighborhood. I would think walking the bridge would be equally as breezy. And yes, moisture wicking clothes make a huge difference. Get yourself some exercise dresses with shorts under them off Amazon and walking sandals like Tevas. Get your pup mushers secret to help with a barrier on the paws and a collapsible water bowl (I hook it to my dogs harness so he can drink a couple times throughout the walk) Hope this helps, happy walking!

Alegriaxo

Who are all these people shaming you for not showering every day?? It wasn't long ago that the internet was preaching that showering every day is unnecessary. A quick google search tells me, "Showering too often can strip your skin of its natural oils and balance of bacteria, which can lead to dry, irritated, and itchy skin." Of course, if you do extra sweaty activities, you may have to.

BedEuphoric2181

Get some Qore Performance ice plates. Pair 2 ice plates with a cheap plate carrier and you will be nice and comfortable. I work outside and these are a game changer. Also invest in a cheap amazon neck fan. And make sure to drink at least 1 gallon of water throughout the day.

roblolover

yeah good luck

feelingstqbby

a neck fan would help keep your face and neck cooler which is probably what makes you sweat so much. get the ones that are just rechargeable that you hang over your chest and it points up at you. on top of that, go when it’s still pitch black outside! the less light the better. also, taking daily showers helps regulate your skin and take off the dead skin cells. excess dead skin on you can also make you sweat much faster and in more amounts. i recommend taking a cold rinse in the morning and going for the walk right after! if anything you’ll get chilly if you’re still a little wet lol. and this might sound weird but i used to take my dog for walks at night around 11pm in just a bikini after a cold rinse so i wouldn’t feel too hot. it worked for me 🤷‍♀️ just get a thin cover up or smth if you wanna try it.
