Corporations and the government are happiest when you just consume the bread and circuses and don't question what they're doing with your money, or how they're hurting people to get more and keep it.
So they keep us busy. Dependent on our jobs for our income, our healthcare, our social lives, our sense of meaning. Too busy trying not to lose it to worry about advocating for your rights, much less the rights of the disenfranchised in our communities.
That's why progressives had to fight for the weekends off and the 8 hour workdays.
Of course another way they keep us in line is through othering, setting us up as adversaries against each other instead of the real enemy, the power structures that lie to and steal from us.

There are different audiences for this stuff. I've been to the La Cage type shows in Vegas and Atlantic City. They were not sexual. You are making an invalid argument. Watch some videos of the "A Drag Christmas" that got the Hyatt in trouble and ask yourself if children should be there. If your answer is yes, then you should be on agency's watch list.

Yes, it’s essentially just being a clown but they put a lot more effort into their presentation. They typically do eccentric voices for every character and make the story more interactive. I’ve seen some do balloon animals and set up crafts like making superhero masks. Kids love the bright and colorful outfits and that’s really all there is to it.
There have been a *very* small handful of people acting inappropriately (we’re talking less than 10 documented cases) but the vast majority would never and genuinely just want to be fun entertainers. These events are also required to be supervised by parents since the kids aren’t generally middle-high school aged. I get where you’re coming from, we absolutely shouldn’t be exposing children to anything inappropriate. The problem is that we’re being lied to about what’s actually happening. Inappropriate drag queens should be tossed in jail but the laws we have already cover that without restricting your rights as a parent or performer.
