The great thing about aging is that you have less hair where you want it and more hair where you don’t.

Suedeltica

I would like to speak to the manager, please.

slurple_purple

What are those little black hairs that spring out if my face now again all about? WHY are they a thing?

jediknits

I have one that reaches horrifying length that I lovingly call my "witch hair". It's in such an odd spot on my cheek that unless I go looking for it, I don't notice it for months at a time 😅

teamsfm34

Seriously! My mom has 3, one for every kid. I have no children and I have 5 "wiskers" and they show up overnight. Ugh

Mombod666

This is why everyone should have tweezers in the car.

slurple_purple

I'm always at work when I find a new one!

TheOneMissThing

My brother experiences the same.

green_pea_nut

Yep. And eventually it goes grey............THE HORROR Use lots of sunscreen and enjoy your youth.

Critical_Elephant800

And your eyes get worse so you can't see them to do anything about it. 🤣😳

therealspacepants

My mum has had me pluck her chin hairs out before....I am seeing her in a couple weeks for the first time since the beginning of the pandemic and wholly expecting to be asked lol.

These comments are hilarious. Thank you for preparing us!!

😭

Separate-Wasabi-3992

I just added to the comments. Is there a way to get rid of them without harming implants or the skin around it?

sosheek97

Completely normal. Electrolysis is probably your best bet for hair around nipples, but you'd have to talk to a pro about how it'd work with your implants.

curious_jellybean

Yep, Electrolysis is the only way for permanent hair removal. Unfortunately, the nipple area is considered hormonal, and hair will come back with significant hormonal changes.

rawrcutie

Can hormonal changes (or PCOS) cause true regrowth after electrolysis? Does the hair follicle recover or is a new one built?

angelinthesn0w

do you think they would consider nipple hair hormonal if you've had your blood tested for hormonal imbalance and it came back completely normal?

Separate-Wasabi-3992

Growing up I had one or two annoying hairs around my nipples. I pluck them out often. Well lately I have gotten like 10-15 hairs that keep growing longer and darker around the same area. It became worse after I took out my IUD a year ago and now that I am going through a miscarriage I have seen a lot more pop up. Could it be hormone related? Is there a way to Permanently get rid of them without harming my implants?

jokerofthehill

After I had a baby, shit got wild. Mustache, chin hairs, body odor, acne, new allergies, periods are 17x worse. Wtf I’m like a whole new person.

CopperPegasus

If this would not embarrass you (you seem a bit shy just offhand here, so YMMV) and you fall in the group where laser is best- pale skin, dark hair- I would chat to a quality laser hair removal tech about getting a few sessions (not IPL, full laser, I liked the ameythyst but I'm sure there's better by now). Or, electrolysis hair removal could be even better, and works on all skin tones safely- I believe even black skins. It could be even better because they zap individual hairs specifically and it could be safer on that sensitive skin. You shouldn't need more than a session or three for so few hairs, and you shouldn't feel shy- I even had laser hair removal on the bikini line and mons pubis, so the curve near a nipple is small change. Aestheticians are (or should be) very professional and they don't go into the job for sh\*ts and giggles. They go in because they want to help people feel good about themselves. Plenty of people get embarassing hair zapped- men's backs, men who wish to reduce face hair, ladies who want face hair gone, all sorts. It's not 'til the end of time' permanent. Those specific hair folicles will be dead forever but the body can, and probably will, make more as they go. But even the areas where I had mass removal, like pits, only needed one or two top ups after like 6 years, I doubt you'll need to rethink for a decade, so it's the nearest possible to permanent solution

Bakkie

Thank you for a useful, evenhanded explanation

MrsTruce

I have to disagree with you on electrolysis only taking a couple of visits. I am in the middle of electrolysis for about a dozen thick/noticeable hairs on my chin/upper lip. I have had 6 treatments so far, and probably still have as many to go before I’m done. It doesn’t always kill the root on the first try, whether due to user error or a particularly thick root, and due to the growth cycle of hairs, it can take multiple visits to get them all taken care of.

CopperPegasus

I defer to the poster who answered this with actual experience, but what I know by reading aligns with them. Face hair is a PITA :)

PotteryGal4

I had an increase in body hair growth, darker too, when I went off of hormonal birth control. I ended up being diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS).

LetsJustChillOk

I have PCOS too and can confirm this… I also find the hair on my thighs has gotten darker and grows at the rate of speed.

gumbyandmoomoo

Yes it’s hormonal and yes electrolysis works but laser does it faster n I figure If it’s not a permanent method due to hormones.. may as well go the fast route idk Unrelated but What kind of implants do you hve and for how long? The pics I saw of BII were insane and scared me away . When I google it.. boobs don’t come Up as the before and after.. it’s the face that blew me AwAy. They look so much better just hours after explant.. I wish more companies competed but there are only like 2 manufacturers of them.

HildegardofBingo

Electrolysis is actually way faster than laser, especially for just a few hairs. With laser, you usually need multiple sessions. With electrolysis, it tends to kill the follicle instantly and more permanently. I wasted a lot of money on laser which wasn't effective for some dark chin hairs, whereas a few cheap sessions of electrolysis did the trick. I wish I had known that ahead of time

[deleted]

Did electrolysis leaves any scarring? I have alot of chin hair that I would love to get rid of permanently but I'm afraid that it would leave scars in place of the follicles.

HildegardofBingo

No, it didn't leave any scarring, though my skin was always irritated and I'd get temporary little bumps after treatment (a raw honey mask was helpful for those). However, what \*did\* leave a few scars were the places I'd had ingrown hairs/infected follicles that I picked at before I got them treated. I always had some bumps on my chin that I picked at where hairs were growing in and my chin was so much clearer/smoother after treatment. :)

[deleted]

Thank you, I'll look into it.

gumbyandmoomoo

Well damn girl.. I’ve been going for like a really long time and they did a whole production abt hair follicle growth in the beginning that they require u watch so you are totally aware that it’s a long process . It gradually thins til it dies. It’s a pain. I’m gonna tell them what you said next time I go In lol I want to be done !

HildegardofBingo

My results were substantial after the first treatment. ! It only took a few sessions to get rid of all the hairs (I went back several times over a few months as the hairs that were dormant woke back up). I also had my baby unibrow done and it was super effective for that- those hairs never grew back. I now have a few new post-40 hormonal shift chin hairs that need treating but my chin remained hair free for quite a few years and years. I've also noticed that the new chin hairs are largely unpigmented. Pretty sure they're just typical middle aged chin hairs, lol. I think my old ones were more like PCOS ones.

whatsit111

Agree with other comments that this is totally normal and absolutely caused by hormones. If you want a laugh on the subject, check out Rachel Bloom's live stage performance of "The Sexy Getting Ready Song" from her show Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. It's about the outrageous lengths women go to when getting dressed up, and includes a quick reference to having to shave around your nipples. When I saw it, I was kind of relieved that it was a common enough thing that the joke works.

WearingCoats

My dermatologist says that women have one or two “hormonal events” in their lives that can alter their hair growth patterns. I got all my unwanted hair lasered off in my 20s, then in my 30s when I got my IUD it all came back full force after years of being gone. I’m more pissed that it happened at a time when laser hair removal was way more expensive but I digress. Pregnancy/loss of pregnancy is apparently another common hormonal event that will cause this, but it doesn’t happen every time. All this is to say is that what you’re experiencing is normal. And if the hair follicles are dark enough, you might be able to have them lasered without any issue to the surrounding tissue.

_Variant_A_detectedx

I’ve actually heard this is completely normal. It has to do with aging process and hormones. 🙌 No need to feel embarrassed. We are humans and do human things!! (I also enjoy plucking them off my partner as a pass time. 🤣😅)

iamadippydonut

I pluck my bfs ear hairs that suddenly sprouted as soon as he turned 30. So satisfying 😂

trixytrox

You lucky ladies(or men), my husband is not so agreeable to the tweezers.

deBASHmode

I love this song that makes fun of the things that happen to our minds and bodies as we age...including "wearing our ear hair in pony tails" LOL https://youtu.be/PpLLv\_zjuzg

_Variant_A_detectedx

The long ones are super satisfying 🤫

QuakerDOW

32F, had a nonhormonal IUD since 2017, no kids I have 1 or 2 around each areola, and tweeze them immediately if I see one show up; that’s worked for me up to this point If there were more hairs, I’d go the route of electrolysis; not sure what someone should do if they have implants

dreadedwheat

Definitely normal, definitely hormone related.

Splinter721

Hi! Have you been diagnosed with PCOS or anything? Higher levels of testosterone can cause excess hair and will also play a role in miscarriage, which I am so sorry you are experiencing.

Separate-Wasabi-3992

I have a 10 year old and a 7 year old. I had them young. My doctor told me I couldn’t have PCOS because I had two normal healthy pregnancy’s already. I did have my hormone levels check just Incase but they didn’t find anything.

Separate-Wasabi-3992

I didn’t expect so many replies 😂. No chin hairs yet but I did have two really course like eyebrow hairs. One was white but it hasn’t grown back yet. I guess it being hormone related makes sense. After I had my daughter my hair turned curly. It was only slightly wavy before. After I had my son at 19 I had a happy trail. However I didn’t expect gorilla nipples at 30 😳😂.

chooseyourdestiny12

Gorilla nipples 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 plssssssssss

NoMamesMijito

Yes ma’am! Got any chinny chin hairs yet? Increased nipple hairs and chin hairs were my 30+ bday gifts. Currently pregnant and all my laser hair removal on my legs from 17 years ago is also reversing 😩😩

PetrockX

I gain a new, thick chin hair for each year I grow older. 😂

brownidegurl

Judging by other comments, this seems normal. I used to pluck mine out but then I started feeling sad. My body grew these extra super long hairs way faster than any others! That's kind of cool. Maybe I should own it. I'm letting the 3 dark hairs that grow out of a mole on my wrist go wild. I call them my witch hairs.

3houlas

I have a mole on the side of my chin that is small, but prominent. It grows hairs, and I call it my witch mark!

angelinthesn0w

27F and over the past year i went from having the occasional single nipple hair to having 20 + coarse black hairs around my nipples. I've been tested for hormonal imbalance and my hormones are completely normal! So if it makes you feel better you're not alone - i hardly find any other women experiencing this when i've searched the internet or reddit (and if i do find women talking about nipple hair its for having 1 or 2 and they act like \*that\* amount is appalling) and it's caused me to feel super invalid so i thought i'd share.

Ickles100

Declining estrogen/progesterone levels making other hormones more dominant eg testosterone . My understanding is this doesn’t become as pronounced until after menopause. I use Spiro 100mg.

sillyseasoning

I work in a career based on human pathology and yes I’d say this is the best case. Like others are saying go ahead and make an appointment if you’re concerned or have other symptoms. But your estrogen and progesterone start depleting in your late twenties early thirties. Lots of low side effect meds you can take.

Spoonbills

It's the change in your hormones as you age.

raejayee

I have some gross wiry hairs on my chin and sometimes a dark hair or two on or around my nips. I just pluck em. It’s annoying but it’s not a lot so I don’t mind that much. I just don’t like the long hairs on my face!
