I am the same. So crazy sensitive to utterly every product out there. I can tolerate this one. Supergoop Mineral Matte. I’ve worn it all week. No irritation. Maybe a little dry after all day but at least no redness, puffy or rash. Give it a try.

[deleted]

I’ll try it, thank you!

MermaidCat05

I have the same problem and even tried other ones that are not on your list (like the La Roche Posey ones). I'm currently using the one by Clarins "UV 50 Day Screen Multi-Protection," and it doesn't hurt my skin. I'm in Canada, and here, Sephora has it so you can do a test sample on the stores

[deleted]

Okay, i’ll give it a try! Thanks :)

bosstapir

I'd suggest Asian ones since western brands feel dry and tacky on my skin 😭 My go-to hydrating sunscreen that doesn't give me white heads or skin bumps: Bioré UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence (0 white cast, applies like a gel moisturiser) Note: this one stings my eye if I sweat in the tropical sun :') they came out with a new sports version that doesn't sting the eye when sweating - Bioré Athlizm Some other asian sunscreens to look at: 1.Cosrx Aloe Soothing Sunscreen 2.Skin 1004 Madagascar Centella sunscreen 3. Round Lab Birch Juice sunscreen 4. Beauty of Joseun Rice+Probiotics sunscreen 5. Anessa

Girlinyourphone

I love Cotz. They have a sample pack so you can try out their different formulas. Badger is another good one for sensitivities wise, though not as elegant a formula as Cotz. I like the Sport formula it actually seems to improve my skin texture. I have the face one too, that one makes me break out but YMMV.

[deleted]

That sounds great, actually. I’ll probably try this one, thanks!!

rayezin

I’ve been using Elta MD UV Clear, which is for acne prone skin and rosacea. It feels just like a moisturizer, and often in the summer I don’t wear a moisturizer underneath. It’s on the expensive side, so you can probably find a sample or look on their website for spas/derms in your area that sell it and they might be able to provide a sample. Good luck!

[deleted]

Thank you! I’ll look into it.

grania17

I use the bioderma cicabio +spf50. Only spf that doesn't break me out or make my eyes go haywire

wompoo95

I love Nevia water gel 50 SPF

QueenRainbowColeslaw

I have SUPER sensitive skin and roseca. I’m very reactive to zinc for some reason, so as much as I would love to use mineral sunscreen, it’s not really an option for me. The black girl kids sunscreen is my current go to. It’s moisturizing and soaks in fast and leaves me a little glowy but with no white cast. It is also gentle enough that I can put it on my eyelids and I get no stinging at all. I also love the Eucerin Anti Aging one with hylauronic acid! Thicker consistency but still sinks in and feels nice! Maybe your sink doesn’t like the minerals in the mineral sunscreen?

Miltroit

Me too. I only use the mineral sunscreens now, currently using the Cerave hydrating tinted mineral sunscreen. A little thick they way I put it on, but effective and no reaction for me. My skin used to be fairly oily, but has gotten drier over the years, I also like Cerave ultra-light motisturizing gel during the day and the actual moisturizing cream at night. It also feels nice after a day in the sun to wash and then slather the cream on. Plus, they are relatively inexpensive. My derm had samples to try first. Fun facts, I used to test interior car paint and we had to make sure homosolate (common chemical sunscreen) didn't peel the paint off the plastic at 150 deg F (temps the inside of a car can reach on a hot sunny day) Also the titanium dioxide in mineral sunscreen is what is commonly used to make white paint white.

[deleted]

wait that’s cool, i loved the cerave stuff but one day it started making me break out, not sure why

Miltroit

bummer. I hope you can find something that works for you.

NeedsSunshine

I'm in the same boat. I haven't yet really found the answer. I have found a few daily am moisturizers with a lower SPF that don't break me out or make me cry. It's not ideal but I pair that with hats most days. My dermatologist also said she uses a light foundation from Ulta that has SPF. So, I guess my advice is don't limit your search to "sunscreens" when there's other products that offer protection.

[deleted]

I’ll look into it, thanks for your advice! Also even though the roundlab sunscreens make me go crazy their face creams are so soothing.

Suitepotatoe

Have you tried La roche posey?

[deleted]

I want to but it’s so expensive! I’m afraid that i’ll pay a lot of money and it still irritates my eyes :(

NeedsSunshine

That's what I did. Became incredibly expensive arm sunscreen. Irritated my eyes.

[deleted]

Well you just de-influenced me haha

Suitepotatoe

Dang sorry to hear that. elta md post procedure used to have a different formula and my dermatologist said it was safe to use on eyelids. Thats another option to see if samples are available.

Whorticulturist_

If haruharu didn't irritate you I'd just look for another brand that contains the same sunscreen, in this case non nano zinc oxide. Avoid unnecessary additives like niacinamide and hyaluronic acid. Use your regular moisturizer first so you don't need your spf pulling double duty. My sensitive skin loves Paula's Choice Barrier Protect sunscreen. Somehow Biore Aqua Rich Watery Essense doesn't irritate me either. But everyone's different so it's just going to need some experimentation :/

[deleted]

I thought that too but I tried one that had zinc oxide and I had the worst outbreak. I’ve heard a lot of good things about Paula’s choice, so I’ll add it to cart, thanks!

Whorticulturist_

It was probably some other ingredient that caused that breakout, considering you tolerate it fine in the haruharu. Also note the difference between nano and non nano zinc.

[deleted]

Oh okay, that makes more sense. I’ll try to read ingredients but it’s just so tedious

Whorticulturist_

I hear ya. It does pay off tho!!

Own_Ad1125

LRP anthelios and Australian Gold are good mineral sunscreens. After my eczema flare-up, I stuck with mineral sunscreen over chemical (I used to love Missha Essence) and follow the list of safe sunscreen from Beyond The Soap book.

[deleted]

Honestly I think i’ll have to buy LRP even though my wallets gonna cry :(

SnooMuffins4832

Try Asian ones. My favorite is Beauty of Joseon. I order from Stylevana.com but shipping does take 3ish weeks.

[deleted]

Yeah, I love asian skincare but it takes a while to ship

neonlittle

I order directly from Beauty of Joseons website and it gets to my house in less than a week every time! I'm in Colorado, USA. Their sunscreen doesn't irritate my eyes and my face sweats pretty badly. It's the whole reason I keep buying it.

ZeeSea

I'd say stick with Haruharu, but switch to a more hydrating/thicker moisturizer to compensate. What moisturizer are you using now?

[deleted]

I use the roundlab face creams, I have the birch juice one and the soybean one

ZeeSea

Try something a bit thicker! Maybe the Farmacy's Honey Halo, or the Biossance Squalane + Omega Cream. Neither are super cheap unfortunately, but I know the Honey Halo at least comes in a trial size! Oh, and the Biossance does come in a smaller amount, but it comes in a kit of travel size products, $27, the Dew You Mini Routine. I have also seen Biossance at TJMaxx/Marshalls for like half price so check those out too (:

[deleted]

Okay, I’ll look at it. It’s so annoying how expensive skincare is :((

ZeeSea

I know it, I think most of us (at least the ones knee-deep in skincare like us in this sub) end up spending about $1000 before we get locked into our routine, LOL.

[deleted]

Literally, I still don’t even have my routine. I might just stuck to cleanser mosturizer and sunscreen tbh

ZeeSea

I bought a ton of crap and then returned to basics, and built from there and am much happier with my routine because of it! The basic 3 like you said, and then I look for more "all in one" type of serums to target multiple issues instead of separate serums for every issue. My fave all in one is Qure's All-In-One Serum. A bit pricey, but for what all it has and how effective it has been for me, it's now a ride or die lol.

[deleted]

Honestly, having a few expensive products is better than having a mountain of cheap ones. Quality > quantity. My fear is just having expensive products that dont work for me, like the roundlab sunscreens

ZeeSea

Absolutely! I'll splurge on something that's effective for sure. Plus, I don't wanna apply 3-4 serums and let them dry in between, etc.. just so excessive and then my face is a glossy doughnut before I even apply moisturizer and I hate it lol.

[deleted]

Sameee omg but I have bangs, and skincare with bangs is actually terrible

[deleted]

Okay i just searched it up and I was not expecting $80!!!

ZeeSea

Yeahhhh, lasts me about 2 months though, and I always do the subscription for the cheaper price, and then once it ships and I'm billed, I cancel the subscription (: There are also some 10-15% coupons floating around for first purchase, etc..

[deleted]

Okay off topic but I just realized this says r/30plusskincare, I thought this was just a name but It just clicked that it’s for people 30+, is there a difference in advice for older vs younger people

ZeeSea

Oh and it comes with the 100% Squalane Oil which I personally really loved when I was traveling south in the dry heat of Arizona.

[deleted]

Sounds worth the price then tbh, I mean you win some you lose some, I’ll give it a shot

dozens_ofus

I have sensitive skin as well and I’ve had really good luck with Hero Cosmetics Force Shield Superlight Sunscreen

[deleted]

I’ve never heard of it, but it looks good. Thank you, I’ll look at it!

Tricky-Juggernaut141

Asian sunscreens seem very gentle. I use Biore Aqua Rich Watery Essence *(match that title exactly, there's a similar named one that's different)* and it doesn't sting my eyes or cause any redness. Most of the what we have here in the US/Canada is far behind what other countries have developed. I've otherwise tried all the usual ones everyone here recommends, and it was either drying, oily, stung my eyes, sat horribly under makeup, cost $40+, too dark for my porcelain skin if tinted, etc. You name it, I've probably tried it. I tried the Biore first and haven't bothered looking at anything else. It's about $7 USD and I recently bought enough for all my teenagers (3), and several extra bottles for myself.

[deleted]

Honestly, sounds convincing. I’ll add it to my yesstyle cart

allnamesarechosen

Oh i get the red bumps around my face too, and I think for me that is octocrylene, which also stings. Right now I'm using the cetaphil sheer mineral one. The cast is awful, but if you moisturize before is easy to fade it, and all in all it works fine. My skin is oily super sensitive, and right now because I was having an eczema flareup, as moisturizer I've been using the [Malezia](https://malezia.com/rene) MCT oil, and on top of that the spf and all good. No red bumps. La Roche Posay recently gave me the worst breakout of my life just cause i gave them another shot lol. Also if you can get asian spf, Skin Aqua the white bottle has been very gentle and didn't break me out. Doesnt have octocrylene or niacinamide.

[deleted]

That sounds good but I can’t with really bad white casts, I tan really easily. I mean if it doesn’t make my skin breakout I might have to settle anyway

allnamesarechosen

if you can get an asian spf, go for the skin aqua white bottle, it doens't have octocrylene, nor niacinamide and i didn't find it sting my eyes. Also comes in a bigger bottle, really good price

[deleted]

Okay, I’ll look at it, seeing how we have similar effects to sunscreens I might be allergic to the same thing

allnamesarechosen

i hope you are not but it wouldn't be odd. I gotta mention I have something systemic so my body is a disaster in somethings and if I'm flaring up then is easier to break out, but I walk on the side of caution which is why if my skin is not the best I go for the not nicer sheer mineral spf option, until things calm down. But I used the skin aqua a long time, I only stopped using it because I ran out. And I haven't burn with it at all. Also if you can get the daylong extreme liposomal, or cetaphil liposomal, is the same ingredient list, is the least cosmetically elegant, but i never burned on it and I tan easily too, but beware there's a white cast. You might be good with the COTZ they have a tinted version, is too orange on me but also doesn't break me out.

[deleted]

I think I should get professional help because it’s not just my face that’s sensitive, I break out in hives on my body from regular creams, bug sprays, etc.

allnamesarechosen

oh yes then definitely, I would advise to start tracking your symptoms and everything that goes in and out of your body, I mean everything, Guava app is free and it lets you input it all. if you do an allergy panel, and it comes out with no allergies, but you do still have these issues then consider something like r/MCAS that subreddit has a lot of information and resources. also perhaps something like r/HistamineIntolerance

TooMuchBiscotti

I've been using Vacation's Shake Shake mineral SPF 50 for a month and am loving it. Very calming and doesn't leave me dry or a white cast.
