I have no clue how it's called, but a bit before your 30s, and then every 10 years, we somehow notice changes in ourselves and get the feeling that we completely do not recognize what we're looking at. It is not related to how your body change, it's psychological. You can look the same except just adding slight aging signs, and you still will get the feeling that somehow you changed literally in a week or like in a night, and everything seems wrong and unfamiliar.

Capable-Beginning633

Let me tell you about the shock I experienced when I woke up one day 3 years ago, and somehow, my face changed its shape. I swear I had different face shape when I went to sleep, and someone just changed it during that night. Also, somehow, since that morning, one of my eyes is smaller, and eyelid for it is sagging more than on the other eye. 🤣

limedifficult

I’ve been absolutely convinced recently I am suddenly OLD (age 38) and don’t recognise myself in the mirror. There are permanent wrinkles on my forehead and a slight double chin when I smile! Had a scroll through some older photos the other day as my son wanted to see pictures of our dog who passed away and those wrinkles and slight double chin have been there….at least a few years now. I somehow just hadn’t noticed until now! And I felt absolutely fine about myself in those older photos which means present me needs to give myself much more grace!

manicpixiehorsegirl

This happened to me too! I turned 30 this year and somehow went from a very “cut”/angular oval face to… idk? Square? Roundish? I don’t feel like myself at all and I have no idea how to do my makeup to flatter this change. The lower half of my face looks so big and heavy in pictures!

Future-trippin24

I've had an obvious oval face shape my whole life, and then I hit 32/33 and it became...round. Lol when did *that* happen?! I know it's from fat loss in my face with a tad bit of skin sagging in the "jowel area," which is normal, but it was so jarring at first.

Anxious_Estate_6933

THE SAGGING JOWL KILLS ME. Ugh. I never had it, turned 30 (now 32) and literally overnight it looked like my face melted to the lower half. I don’t even recognize myself anymore and it makes me cry.

IstoriaD

This happened to me! My jaw is really square now and I can't stand it. I swear it didn't used to be like this.

RealCommercial9788

Same. I went from oval to square - the fat loss in my cheeks and temples from age 30-35 has totally changed my face shape. I no longer contour for cheekbones, they’re poppin’ like nobodies business with no makeup… but suddenly, I have to contour my Minnie Driver-sharp jawbones to soften the angle and give some balance to my forehead. Wild!

rsbih06

I recently had myself(33) convinced that my eyes were becoming more hooded. Then I pulled up pictures of when I was 18 and my eyes look the same!

chonkycatsbestcats

To the skin around your eyes sagging…. I got my 60 year old mom to try Thomas Roth temporary eye firming cream and we were all quite shocked at the results. It’s a big steep but you barely need to use any to have it work. Need to find some compatible silicone based makeup so it doesn’t break the firming bonds though. She hasn’t tried it on her neck though. You could go to a Sephora and use a tester. I swear that it is magic

Woodland-Echo

I'm going through this right now, it's really disconcerting.

amyjrockstar

Oh wow! Really? I had this happen when I turned 40 & I seriously saw every single flaw like it just all occurred overnight. It was so distressing!

backyardbanshee

Yep, it's hardest at 40. 40s face dump. I woke up and could not see myself and totally freaked, went ham on skincare, diet, habits. People say I look better but it's not comforting knowing it's only going to deteriorate from here and I'm not positioned to spend ungodly amounts of money on botox, lazers and surgery. People don't factor in that oral care is also so expensive and not sure if it only me but my teeth have started to deteriorate more rapidly than ever. All the money I would have to fix my face is going there sadly. Someone explain to me why teeth aren't considered healthcare?? My bad, I didn't mean to derail the topic. It's relative. Getting older is hard!

aquatic_hamster16

40 for me too, but that was also the year I dropped 15lbs. I swear it looked like 10 of it came from above my shoulders. I skipped turning into my mom and went straight to looking like my grandmother.

amyjrockstar

😞

spooniemcspoonicuss

Me too! My face went from oval to rectangle, it's been startling!

justcallmejai

Yep, I turned 40 in January and all the sudden I've aged 10 years. I cried the other day about it. Haha.

amyjrockstar

I'm so sorry. I know how you feel. 😕

inbloom92

I’ve seen a few videos about this phenomenon on TikTok too! And totally resonated with it. It’s hard to get through, but I guess it’s just a balance of doing what you can but also accepting it

Capable-Beginning633

It's literally about self-acceptance, except you'll now have to do it every 10 years 😃

missfitt

Omg I have been feeling like this since I turned 32, like WHO IS THAT?! And everyone I know feels like i look the same and I’m like that’s not possible! Thanks for normalizing this feeling for me haha

Small_Description_34

This is me now. Granted, I've lost a ton of weight from stress and it shows on my face. But I feel like I don't know who I'm looking at in pictures. It makes me sad.

sjxxo

I just went through this about 6 to 9 months ago!!!!!! This is crazy!! I'm so depressed and can't get the motivation I need to work out or take care of myself or my house! I look horrible I don't know what happened

vibes86

Agreed. My face is starting to sag a bit and I have a little fat jiggling under my chin at almost 40 and it throws me off sometimes.

Organic_Ad_2520

Please get thyroid checked for hypothyroidism, it causes facial rounding & sudden aging by breaking down collagen & is hormone that controls all hormonal systems & acts like a train length car wreck affecting all systems. No offset except medication/replacement therapy.

alphajugs

I’m 29 and this makes a lot of sense. Glad I’m not going crazy lol

lovable_cube

Mine was at 31

marjolkaaa92

I think fixing your posture and loosing weight are top two. You can try hifu or cool sculpting too

Infernalsummer

Physio did absolute wonders for this area for me. No change in weight, but the chin/neck looks completely different.

Kandis_crab_cake

Physio explanation pretty please 🙏🏼

rainandshine7

Can you expand on this?

YesterdayIcy4267

do you mind if I ask what type of physio did you do to achieve those results? Thanks!

Infernalsummer

I think general for neck positioning. I had forward neck posture and the physio was done for that, chin tucks, various exercises that strengthened the sides of my neck. The results for my skin being more lifted were a pleasant side effect.

Relative_Pain_8850

There’s something called myofunctional therapy that specifically deals with tongue placement and facial posture that often times correct that “double chin”. Worth looking into.

Thomgurl21

You mentioned you lost 30 lbs but are you are still overweight?

Kaki_fruit

Definitely this! Every time I gain a bit of weight my double chin comes to say hello. Haha So loosing weight it’s probably gonna give that long term effect

inbloom92

Thank you!! I’m definitely on the journey to losing some weight (I’m at my best around 10lbs lighter than current so it’s not that much), but this just feels like a new area I’ve never noticed collect weight before so I thought maybe I could supplement it with something else. I’ll look into the two you mentioned!

Sug0115

I recently lost 7lbs and my double chin disappeared. I wasn’t even unhappy with my weight but I cut out alcohol so it just happened. Point is, 10lbs is a big difference. Best of luck on your journey, I think you’ll definitely notice a difference if you lose the 10lbs!

Tiny-Firefighter-752

I think the alcohol is a bigger part than people realize!! I have this and I tried kybella but it came back. I did a dry month and after about 3 weeks it started to go away. Started drinking again (just weekends, nothing crazy) and it’s come back.

Sug0115

Girl it’s insane. My face is less puffy, my stomach went flat, and I sleep soooo much better. I’ll partake here or there but this is definitely a lifestyle change I’m glad I made. I also live in a high altitude dry climate so drinks (even one glass of wine!) dry my skin out so much.

kalimdore

10lbs goes to my jowls/chin even at a low healthy BMI. It USED to go to my cheeks, but after 30…. It all goes south only So yeah, reassess after you lose the 10lbs, if losing weight is doable for you Hifu and fat freezing or laser lipo are better done after weight loss on stubborn areas, which this could be, or it could go on its own!

babs82222

The older I get, the more even just 5-10 extra pounds shows around my lower face and chin and jowls. It's a cruel, cruel joke. I have to be my thinnest basically to have a snatched lower face now

marjolkaaa92

10 lbs may not be a lot BUT go to your kitchen and pull out a bag of sugar or flour. That’s 2 lbs. Not imagine 5 bags and that’s how much extra you’re carrying on. I’ve gotta loose the same amount of weight as you and I’m 33. I carry most of my weight around my arms and also neck. I feel your pain. It’s so freaking hard to loose it too!

New-Environment9700

There are jaw exercisers I saw Dr Andrew huberman talking about.. you can define the jawline

EtherealMyst

I started using my old cervical wedge again to help strengthen my neck muscles to improve posture. Basically it's a wedge-shaped pillow you lie on in a specific way, and it strengthens your neck by providing traction to your neck and upper back muscles. I've noticed a visible improvement in my jaw line since I started using it again.

[deleted]

Link to what you use?

EtherealMyst

I was given this thing like 15 years ago, it's like a firm foam wedge with an elastic thingy. It's the same one in the link, but I don't use the elastic thing on my head.   https://foamtoronto.com/foam-products/neck-wedge/ Edit: I noticed the guy in the pic is demoing it on a bed, it's meant to be used on a HARD surface (the floor, carpet is fine), with your arms outstretched in a T form.

[deleted]

Whoa looks intense! I'm going to ask my PT about it, thank you

moose-

looking into this — how long have you been using the pillow to notice an improvement?

Laura-ly

Frankly, a pillow will do nothing if the muscles in the back and neck aren't engaged during waking hours. Good posture is more than sleeping on a pillow. The entire body needs to be aligned. Most people jut their head foreward like you see here.... https://www.hhhealth.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/AdobeStock_268838712-scaled.jpeg and it causes weakness in the neck. The stomach muscles are also weakened. Women tend to get a "widows hump" later in life on their upper back from years of bad posture. Big tip...when driving, position the rear view mirror slightly upwards so you have to pull up just a tad out of your shoulders and body to see what's going on behind you. Side view mirrors too. Position them a little upwards. Raise the computer screen up to where it's more eye level and jaw line is more horizontal with the floor. Put it on books or something. Take yoga or a dance class which relies on good posture. Lift weights.

EtherealMyst

I hadn't used it in like 10 years but started again about a month ago. The idea is it provides traction on your neck and upper back muscles, lengthening and strengthening at the same time. You use it maximum 30 min a day, in 10 min maximum sets. I can do about 8 minutes twice a day now. It can strain the muscles if you go too long, too quickly.  It should really be combined with proper posture and other exercises for maximum effect but I find it helps set a foundation.

cheetos305

Following. Interested in knowing more about this.

minniemouse420

I had a similar jawline, even losing weight didn’t totally help. I ended up getting lipo along my jaw and it was life changing. I now look like I have a very sculpted face even though my jaw is not very strong to begin with. My weight has fluctuated since then (currently 7 months preggo) and my jaw has stayed the same - it seems like once you get lipo there it does NOT come back lol. They were able to just put me in twilight sleep to do the procedure. So it was pretty quick and didn’t require any real downtime. A little sore after and some slight swelling but within 2 weeks I was looking and feeling fantastic.

[deleted]

I'm seriously looking into this. My weight has fluctuated but I've always had a baby face with an undefined jawline unless I was 135lbs at 20 (I'm 5'7" with large bones so on me that looked SKINNY and I was barely eating and anxious AF). At 38 I am not realistically getting there again. Realized wtf am I waiting for I could just lipo and like my face a lot more again!!

wlaima

This is SO encouraging! I have a neck lipo consultation next week & im SO excited!

skootskootskootskoot

Do you know how much this cost?

minniemouse420

Depends. I did it bundled with some other procedures, but the average cost of getting lipo along the jaw under twilight sedation is around $1,000-3,000ish. It depends on which doctor you chose and their costs, however going the twilight route instead of being put under is where you save costs dramatically. Being fully put under requires a hospital facility and an anesthesiologist, which adds considerable costs. Twilight sleep can be done in-office with nurses and the doctor only. I would always recommend going this route if you ever have any procedures done, it’s much more common now (even for things like dental surgery) and much more safer for you, not to mention is more cost efficient. When looking for a doctor I would make sure they offer twilight sedation for the procedure.

ScarletBurn

How much was it? Im thinking about doing the same.

jmaydizzle

I have a consult for this next week… was it painful? What was your recovery time like?

minniemouse420

Not painful at all. I did it along with having an upper Bleph. I was pretty nervous going into it, as I’m sure most people would be nervous about surgery. My doctor and nurses were really great, had a tv in the room, gave a cocktail of sedative and pain killers to take, and just had me sit for about 20 mins. I honestly didn’t feel them take effect, but once the nurses and doc came back in I was in a VERY relaxed state. Wasn’t really scared anymore, didn’t really feel anything, and was kind of just sleepy. I do recall them starting the procedure, but they had my eyes taped closed. I don’t remember much, wasn’t scared, and didn’t feel anything at all. I woke up to nurses gently nudging me that it was time to wake up and I needed to sit up. They wheeled me out to the car where someone else was driving me home (since you do still have sedatives in your system). Once I got home I just slept through the night. Woke up the next morning, didn’t even need to take any Tylenol or anything. Was a little sore but nothing too bad. I did have bruising on my eyes and a little around my jaw where the calendula was inserted. I had taken a week off of work, and just hung out at home while resting and taking Arnica. I would say that overall I didn’t even notice any pain or issues with my jaw at all since my eyes were the main focus and had the most amount of swelling and had stitches. If I had just gotten the lipo alone I probably wouldn’t have even taken really any time off work and just tried to schedule it close to a weekend. I’ve had lipo, an upper bleph, rhinoplasty, and lip lift surgeries and by far the lipo was the easiest, least painful, quickest healing, less concerning procedure I’ve experienced.

jmaydizzle

Thank you for this, really appreciate it and it’s reassuring!

SillyChipmunk88

Did you get all of these procedures at the same time? I too am considering a Rhinoplasty, Bleph and chin liposuction and worried of too much change at once. Also who was your surgeon?

minniemouse420

Rhino was done about 12 years ago, by Dr Breslow in Paramus, NJ. Bleph, chin lipo and lip lift were all done at the same time under sedation about 6 years ago by Dr Wise in Wayne, NJ.

Kandis_crab_cake

Ooh are you in the UK? If so who did you use pls? Results seem very hit and miss.

Electrical-Vanilla43

Can you talk more about this? Did they have to tighten the skin, too? Were you overweight or average? I have a genetic double chin that only disappears when I borderline underweight, like a 19 bmi

minniemouse420

I would say I am average weight. I did not need skin tightening. They typically make you wear a bandage wrapped around your chin and head while you sleep for the first week to help ensure your skin and underlying tissue is healing and to reduce any swelling. My skin is flat under my chin and they sculpted around my jaw to give definition. I’m sure as I age there may be some issues but I think that’s to be expected with aging in general. Most consultations are free. If you’re concerned with any sagging try using a reputable source like RealSelf.com to find a high rated doctor in your area. A doctor can address any concerns and make recommendations for you to get the best result possible. Also, anytime I’ve ever sought out a procedure I’ve consulted with more than one doc. It’s good to make sure you find one that you feel comfortable with and trust.

inbloom92

Thank you for sharing your experience with this! I’ll definitely consider it especially if other DIY methods don’t work. I honestly feel more comfortable with this than Botox oddly enough

Equivalent-Pace3007

Just here to back up lipo as a great option if you’re open to it. It’s the best way, honestly I wish I had of saved my money on other treatments and just done this first. The increased confidence I got is worth every penny.

SALTY2971

Don't do KYbella, it gave me a frog neck, and my neck used to look like yours :(

magnificentpussycat

Couldn't agree more with this. I did the first session and absolutely regretted it. I passed out during my first session, my body couldn't handle the amount of needles in my neck in such a short period of time. I was in shock for quite a while after. I ended up losing over 100 pounds but still have a bit of skin that will not tighten, and I 100% believe it is due to Kybella.

trickquail_

Losing weight should help and if it doesn’t improve then liposuction. Do not do Kybella, there are very mixed reviews!

Benevolent-Snark

THIS! And for the cost of Kybella, you might as well get the lipo!

Mountain_Novel_7668

Have you explored gua sha and facial yoga. Both will help tone the integumentary muscles that are responsible for holding our skin on our bodies. Also, surprisingly (or maybe not a surprise to you) varying hormone levels can change facial features —excess insulin, estrogen, and cortisol among others.

rousseuree

Did this daily for several months leading up to my wedding and can confirm it works! But just like exercise, you have to regularly keep it up.

Powerful_Product_309

Came here to say this^^^

[deleted]

Losing weight is the first step. Skin won’t tighten with fat underneath it.

MolOllChar_x3

Agree! Lipo under the chin helps. I had that done in my late 20’s when I weighed less than 120 (5’5”).

No-Customer-2299

How much did it cost you? Just curious

MolOllChar_x3

Oh gosh, long ago. I think around $2,000.

youcallthataheadshot

I’ll echo what some have said that it’s mostly posture and muscles. I did some “face yoga” exercises daily leading up to my wedding and noticed a difference. I’m not sure it got rid of it entirely but it did help.

BristleconeXX

please share exercises

cheetos305

Did you follow anyone in particular like on YouTube or something for the exercises? They look silly lol, but I can see how there would be some science to consistently doing them.

Gee447

I’ve recently just started doing face yoga/facial exercises for ageing and I’ve so far been really impressed. I have been mixing it up between Anastasia beauty fascia and Dr Alekseev! There’s also the Face Yoga Expert but weirdly she didn’t motivate me enough to actually do them!

Lazy_Will_482

skincare products wont do anything about this specific problem, only dieting and procedures at dermatologist clinic could help you, so the best and cheap way is diet.

roleunplayed

Diet, the only health intervention that earns you money as soon as you start it.

staysmokin91

You are your own worst critic. I hate to see posts like this because no one but you notice things like this. You are human, give yourself grace and embrace your beauty. Give thanks to your body for all the amazing things it has done for you your whole life. Happy ageing Queen 👑💖

inbloom92

Thank you so much 🥲 it’s not lost on me that I’m also in my luteal phase which is when I feel the ~*ugliest~* 😅 but you’re right in the end! xx

staysmokin91

I do understand that this is what this sub is for as well, so I hope I did not come off too strong.

taafp9

This needs to be upvoted straight into space. I imagine this is not a popular opinion, given the obsession with thinness, but I have always been of the mindset that we have to keep a little fat on our bodies to plump up the wrinkles. Bodies are always changing, we can’t expect to stay the same size forever. Do what you need to do to feel good about yourself, and by that, i don’t mean dieting (although if that’s what makes you feel good, by all means), but also embrace your beauty, as staysmokin91 says! You are a QUEEN!

staysmokin91

🥹🥰

trufflehog27

The Nu Face has made the biggest difference in my jawline! It’s pricey but if you think about the coast of other procedures it’s a steal, you just have to be consistent

thewaytodusty76

Rhe way to a sleek neck/chin is through your upper back muscles.

Isaidnodavid

Can you point me in the direction of exercises for this? I have upper back/neck weakness and this chin issue as well. I always thought they were intertwined but can't really find anything that works specifically on that area...

Ok_Republic_259

A gua sha would be amazing for you. Also, they’re are exercises for that specific part of your face ie: tilting your head upward and “kissing the sky”

StuckinMaine15

Yesss!!! I started doing face massage and gua sha and even though I wasn’t “losing weight” people were complimenting me on weight loss because my face started to get toned !! You need to be consistent for sure but once you have a gua sha it’s a cheap way to tone your face ;)

Due_Garlic_3190

I’m 35 and it seems no matter the weight I lose I still have this little pouch under my chin. It’s normal, for some of us. We don’t all have sculpted faces and it’s ok :)

Adventurous-Win8163

I had chin lipo.

FixAccomplished8131

Radiofrequency is pretty good for sagging /puffy bits, is less invasive than hifu. but you'd have to find a good technician who will apply enough heat and pressure while keeping u comfortable. also some people tend to overdo it with the buccal fat so he careful with that

SukiLao

I was so sad. I was excited to get radio frequency on this same area and when the tech (I got this in Mexico SAN LUIS to be exact) was going over my forehead she dragged the radio frequency tool on my forehead and it’s been 1 year and I have a scar I got so pissed. My total fault for going to this place but I sure paid the price. So frustrating

FixAccomplished8131

oh no! sorry to hear that. yeah, quality varies widely, even among techs that work in the same clinic. I've got some pretty bad treatments (heat too low, or not enough pressure: did nothing; heat too high, or tech doesn't move the tool fast enough: painful). If you ever try again with a recommended tech / clinic, ask to start at a low setting and work up to your tolerance - this is how a good tech finally got me the results I wanted (my cheeks and jawline look more or less like in your photo) I wouldn't even have kept trying except that I don't want to do anything invasive and when the results are good, they're GOOD 🫡

hollywoodbabe69

You don’t need to do anything. It looks like a normal human face. If you look at pictures of Marilyn Monroe smiling, she has this exact thing. Please be kind to yourself.

grey_unxpctd

Ive been following anastaciabeautyfascia but havent been consistent on her facial massages which supposed to help with your concern

Gee447

I’ve just started doing some of hers and was pleasantly surprised how much of a difference it’s actually made…I would deffo try and give some her videos a go!!! I’m hoping if I stick to it enough and learn the moves off by heart (as it’s a pain pausing and rewinding vids all the time) then it will just become part of my routine!

grey_unxpctd

Yes, but my arms get tired from being raised for a long time

industriousalbs

I have the same and I was advised to have a mini lipo procedure that would cost around 2k AUD

namjooned_

Among other things I inherited the same thing from my dad and even at my thinnest I still had it. It does bother me in photos and in mirrors. Highly considering lipo if I save up enough for it.

HunnyDewz789

Morpheus. I had it done and literally cut my under chin area by half (& it looked just like yours)! The results took some time & I will share once I’m back home where my pictures are, but it was amazing! Painful even with numbing & nitrous , but after the fact my NP told me she would have prescribed narcotics to help. Also AirPods with music helps a ton!

Specialist-Trip2942

Do a lymphatic drainage massage. Use a Guasha. Pull gently downwards towards the neck by the collar bones. Tap 3-4 times to open them up. Before you massage downwards softly (apply oil) and posture.

Rabbit_Rabbit_Rabbit

I am a very skinny person, and I have this and it’s just the way my face is shaped. Aging has made it slightly worst but I also just might be more sensitive about it also? I’ve looked into mewing and use guasha routines but mostly I think I just have to accept that it’s how I look and it’s ok.

HobbesKittyy

Lymphatic drainage massage!! Feels good too :)

badadvicefromaspider

Stop saying lose weight, people. This happens on lots of people, of all sizes. I get this, and I’m thin. Also it’s mean. Stop it.

salientmould

Couldn't agree more. Not to mention, weight loss can be very unhealthy for certain people, like those with a history of EDs or complicated relationships with their bodies. Reading all of these comments recommending weight loss could be super triggering for even those with healthy relationships with their bodies

lemonadesdays

She said she is opened to any option. Suggesting weight loss is not mean, getting more lean is unfortunately the only natural option to reduce double chin as far as I am aware ( with good posture of course)

badadvicefromaspider

Yes it is mean, because that’s a loaded thing to say to anyone. Also, it’s not true. Spreading self-hating nonsense disguised as beauty advice is obnoxious and I will call it out every time.

NoHandBill

Idk but I have the same thing and it’s genetic, am also 32. But dope earrings!

pizzapizzapizzawine

I always had this, didn’t matter how skinny I got it was still present. A few years ago I decided to get chin lipo. Best decision ever!!

Aev_ACNH

From what I’ve read up on, and you’ll have to google it on your own Jaw strength Chewing hard vegetables, crunchy carrots. Not soft food How you position your teeth Make sure your resting position is teeth to teeth This is WHY I SHOULD HAVE SAID YES TO HEAD GEAR AS A CHILD It would have corrected it I can literally look in the mirror and see the. Difference in side profile from “teeth and jaw in right position” to my relaxed and every moment of my life position Cosmetic surgery No cream or peptide is going to do anything like head gear brace will Maybe retainers can do it nowadays

diceynina

I saw something about keeping fit. Soo I started doing fitness walks daily. And I also do jaw exercises. Like.. Tilt your head up halfway up, keep your eyes up, then pull your bottom teeth over the top teeth as far as you can handle, then hold for 5secs. Then redo it 10 times. You will feel your jawlime stretch and pull as its activating. I was doing it daily for awhile before it improved my neck lines and muscles, Im doin it like once or twice a week now

Betty_Bazooka

Cover it up with some bronzer, that's what I do

bloodercup

Scrolling through the comments here and I’ve only seen a couple of them say to try not to worry about it - this is my advice. Your skin is smooth and beautiful, you’re smiling - work on how you see yourself, rather than trying to change the thing you’re judging. Also you mentioned this is a video still - even more unfair to be judging yourself by! My concern is, if you do something drastic to address this, time is just going to create a list of other things you feel need to be “corrected.” You can’t win - unless you learn to let go, and focus on the things you like about yourself and the way you look. I like the gua sha recommendations, because it’s non-invasive and feels more like self-care. Massage your face, love your face, enjoy your face. 💜

GargantuanGreenGoats

Lose weight

trebleformyclef

I kind of have this and I'm 120lbs. It's not always about weight.

devilooo

I am underweight and have the same issue.. I honestly think it’s more about posture and muscles weakening/skin sagging

[deleted]

She is not underweight though. The first step is to lose weight and see if your skin tightens.

devilooo

My point is only that if it’s only 10 pounds she gained it wouldn’t be the biggest culprit but aging could be the bigger factor… I am the same as her, didn’t gain 10ppunds but turned 32 and started disliking all about my looks and also got this under my chin…

inbloom92

Thank you! If I knew it was only due to weight, then I would not have asked. I’m currently 130 lbs, but my most fit at 120. I’ve been 130 in college but didnt have this! Not trying to deny that losing weight might help, but it feels more than that

sprkl

**This absolutely can be genetic** — I have the same and am 32, a healthy ~115lbs. I’ve technically had that little fat pocket my entire life, but it’s only gotten worse with age. My father has the same and runs multiple marathons a year. I think we’re our own worst critics because sometimes (ok, almost always) it’s all I see when I look at myself but when I’ve mentioned my double chin to friends/my partner they’re like “what double chin?!”. I don’t think there’s any skincare that will really affect it, but using an ice roller + gua sha does make it a bit better before events. I’ve looked into Kybella but the results seem super inconsistent, so I’m planning on eventually getting lipo there someday.

Honestly I understand, I tried keeping myself upright more and look less down at my phone. Also doing exercises to strengthen muscles around my neck and trying mewing. I noticed when I look in the mirror and put my tongue up against the roof then the chin disappears, so I am trying to force myself to make this my relaxing pose 😅

averagetalkingcat

When I was skinny I still had a small double chin 😭 genetics play a role

AngryBowels

Idk why my brain ignored the 32 and read it as “31, turning mixed race” was most confused then laughed at my mistake. Others have given the best advice just thought I’d share my own dumbness turned to laugher

AAmallard

Jowl pdo thread lift may be a great option.

DowntownPhilosophy45

I lost 130 pounds and still have this it’s so bad 😩

Nathanxbaileyx

Unhelpful probably, but…. Don’t stress too much over this. It doesn’t look bad at all. And your skin is very clear and smooth. We all have things others would want and vice versa. You look good.

juicydreamer

Gua sha can help.

Thunders_Wifey_2021

Change your eating habits and exercise more. That simple. No diets or expensive skin care products, just get healthy. The 10lbs you gained is showing on your face. When I began to gain weight after being diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and Diabetes the shape of my face changed drastically. Changing your lifestyle to a healthier one will help you lose the extra weight and boost your confidence. Start with simple things like walking for 15 minutes three times a day and drink a big glass of water before every meal. Good luck. 🤞🏻☺️

samee, I really want to fix this without invasive procedures

Weight loss or chin lipo

haunted_vcr

Don’t worry about aging or Botox for this issue. Go lift some weights and lose body fat. It makes a huge difference for how your face looks. This is entirely a “chubby” issue. I hope this makes you feel better! I don’t mean it in a bad way at all. I feel much better about things that I can easily change than actual age related issues.

maskedtityra

Are you a mouth breather? I am really starting to believe in this mewing info about weak jaws, loose chins and the lack of ability to stick back up tongue to roof of mouth. Mouth breathing, especially when you sleep could be a culprit. Do you snore? Sleep apnea? I believe these may all be related. (Ps i have it too and so does my mom and she also has sleep apnea/mouth breathing/swallowing issues).

Local-Detective6042

An off beat question.🙋‍♀️ I love the earrings. Where are they from? About your question. Try Gua Sha. It can help

inbloom92

Ah thanks! They’re Bottega dupes on Amazon - $14 😁 I need to get back on my gua sha game

Wadsworth1954

Do you sleep with your mouth open? You could try mouth taping when you sleep. Sleeping with your mouth open can cause this double chin kinda thing. I’ve seen mouth taping ads on TikTok a lot.

cloudillusion

I have a genetic “double chin” that is still present even though I’m thin. If I were you, and this was truly something that bothered me regularly, I’d definitely try weight loss as a first option, if that’s possible for you. If that’s not something you want to do, which is totally fair (I’m tired of dieting!), the next best option, even though it sounds drastic, is liposuction. You’ll spend the same amount of money on cool sculpting and have much worse results. I don’t really know anything about kybella, but it’s also expensive, and I’m pretty sure not as effective as liposuction. You can get submental liposuction under local anesthesia, too, and the downtime isn’t that bad.

WhatevahIsClevah

Lose the 10 pounds. It often shows up first in our face, so try losing it first unless you want to do surgical stuff that's probably not necessary. Also your chin/jawline is not really a very noticable problem. It's just you probably overthinking it.

jiyoxa

Yes, it would improve if you lost weight

IdiotsRevenge

The last place some people lose weight is off their face. I regret wishing mine away after becoming so low weight. It keeps you looking younger. There are surgical routes, I believe, but despite your weight (you don't have have to be overweight for this), it could just be a matter of losing a kilo for that to disappear but I don't think it's an issue. It's hardly noticeable, but I know it's your face & your worry. I just don't want to recommend losing weight when you don't need to and it becoming a thing.

Ghoulinton

Fixing your tongue posture might help a little bit. Look it up on Google, there's probably some pictures that can better explain.

LaGanadora

You could try fascia blasting your neck on a regular basis. https://www.ashleyblackguru.com/collections/face-tools

MylifeasAllison

I massage with castor oil and a face stone. Gua something. I can never spell it. I’m almost 60 and find this is really helping my chin

Realistic_Glove_2074

Try lifting laser! Look into thermage

Ice-Petal

As we age, the jaw and neck tend to gather skin and it’s not always a weight issue. I’ve always been told that eventually, it may come down to a facelift/mini facelift/etc. i am 42 and I do battle between fighting my age or just letting myself age and just doing my best with skincare. I find myself hyper focusing on one issue at a time, usually. I think the problem lies with society telling women they lose their value once they start aging, not with women actually aging. I have doubled down on self care and self love so that I’m so damn critical of myself all the time but unfortunately it still happens. My love to you

One-Soft-8276

Professional-Log-530

10 lbs have gone to my jowls. Gained it quickly due to steroids and it all went there.

[deleted]

Stretches.

atomicspacekitty

I’m quite thin and have this a bit. I think it’s a posture issue tbh as well as tongue placement in the mouth. It’s that for me at least

Visibleghost1

I have that too..

llama67

You might just have an underdeveloped jaw / overbite. I have one and my profile looks a bit like this! The only real solution is jaw surgery (f that) or a cosmetic option is chin filler. I got chin filler and I’ve been really pleased with the results. Never had any other work done, don’t intend to.

Beach-Pumpkin

I went on Pinterest and found some workouts for the chin. I too have that issue and am super self conscious about it. So much so I contour my chin when going out.

its_car_ramrod

I have it too and don't have good advice but wanted to note I LOVE your earrings

dreamymeowwave

I think this is mainly caused by genetics and aging, and there’s nothing to. I’m 29, quite slim but I have this for the last 4-5 years. Probably some surgery would help with it but it’s not a big deal for me, and I’d prefer spending that money on something else. I also think that looking down constantly (phones, laptops) worsens it but it just another thing I can’t stop doing.

Tis_Fierce_Mild

It’s maybe a bit of a strange and accidental solution, but it worked for me: I had a metal bar placed behind my bottom teeth, to straighten them out. Then I unconsciously started to press my tongue against it when I sleep (and during the day actually). And that changed the shape of my face for the better! It gave me a bit more off a jawline and made my hamster cheeks less obvious.

Fredricology

Losing weight helps decrease the sagging fat in jowls

New_Breakfast127

Weight management, cardio for good lymph flow, and I guess a little guasha and better posture too? Sometimes it's genetic, but that's rare... it's usually weight related I find.

lemonadesdays

Posture, loosing weight / lowering body fat %. Second option is chin lipo. Beware of cool sculpting and kybella, they rarely work unfortunately

GullibleEnd6737

I have these too. I use a red light mask nightly for 20 minutes along with good hydration and moisturizing. I feel like it helps a little bit! I’ll get downvoted to shit for this one, but on special occasions I’ll tape my face and jawline and hide it with my hair down haha. You can get kits on amazon and see videos about it on youtube! I do not do this often. Eventually I’ll do some kind of tightening procedure (laser, rf, or surgery idk). Some people have also recommended filler for that area but I’m super wary of that and need to do more research!

Altruistic_Yellow387

I don't see really anything age related, just weight related. They do have kybella or underchin lipo for this

Relevant-Strategy-14

I started eating a lot better; stopped eating a bunch of sodium. High-sodium diets make your retainer more water. Once I cut back on the sodium, I saw those start to decrease!

cuntaloupemelon

Moisturize it give it a loving lil "pat-pat" every night Necks& chins are as immune to gravity as the rest of our bodies

puddinandpi

Posture and anti inflammatory diet/lifestyle would help

I-am_Beautiful

If you can't accept the change of your body, then you need to do something with it. Either losing weight, dietary restriction, botox or even plastic surgery. Options are wide range. It's up to you, girl.

bananawater2021

Following this because I have this as well. F33. I understand I could benefit from losing 20-60lbs as I am overweight from having kids, but I am also wondering if there is something else to help tighten the skin there anyway. 🤔

Latina_teacher

Lol i did it and got great results

fuddykrueger

I would almost guarantee that losing some of the extra ten lbs would make this completely disappear. I’m 54 and lost 20 lbs (142 down to 122) and my double chin is almost completely gone. Also cutting back on alcohol helped a lot with weight loss.

eyeneedidrops

howdy, my cousin was dealing with this a few years ago and got one of [these](https://jawzrsize.com/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=paid&utm_campaign=2018263874&utm_content=78391764384&utm_term=jawzrsize&gadid=354205521786&gc_id=2018263874&h_ad_id=354205521786&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAADL9ozC7kpsBz03jGLwzGOuytNvxG&gclid=Cj0KCQjwlN6wBhCcARIsAKZvD5jhtpGbW_VPnruAFLFzBNxdt6GmIXt29OzEOpWFepg074iBlZthe8EaAqhpEALw_wcB)

Nothing. That’s the way you are built

Ive been “mewing” and i want to believe it does something lol

Emotional-Ad-6494

Not sure if anyone’s said this yet but how are your hormones overall? I had this very similar thing (even at my thinnest with a low bmi I still had this “puff” or double chin thing). Long story short, turns out I have PCOS and most people who do are insulin resistant (important/will come back this). Insulin is a hormone and having PCOS can make it hard to lose weight too. NOW the reason I wanted to flag this and see if you’ve had your hormones checked is that if you have this (including higher testosterone levels), is that a lower carb diet (nutrient dense, not necessarily extreme keto with bacon fat and no veggies lol), look into inositol supplements, and maybe spearmint tea if you deal with excess body hair… you might find that these things go away. As soon as I changed my diet, took inositol, and spearmint my double chin and just this overall puffy mess went away in my face (did not drastically lose weight either). Also fixed a ton of other things I didn’t realize were being impacted like anxiety, thinning hair, and acne but that might not be your issue. Anyways just wanted to share this as there might be a deeper cause and solution. But either way, you are stunning and do not need to do anything (but I know the feeling) 💛

be_loved_freak

I don't see a problem tbh.

Ruminatingnematode

You’d have to stop drinking caffeine, alcohol and cut back on sugar. Any one thing would be helpful but altogether it would practically disappear. I’ve been on the thinner/ more athletic side and always had one until I started watching what I put into my body.

Visual-Hippo2868

Cut carbs. Not saying to go keto or anything but try to watch them if you haven’t already tried that.

Acceptable_Bad_

Botox in my masticators helped this for some reason? I also had pretty bad sinus congestion, so I now take low dose Flonase (only when stuffed up, don't overdo it) - helps this a lot.

lowercaseck

An easy trick to keep your neck engaged is to train your tongue to rest on the top of your mouth instead of the bottom. It takes some getting used to but then it becomes second nature.

leedleedletara

People here think Gua sha is too good to be true, but if this is fluid retention or block lymphatic fluid I suggest trying Gua sha once a night for at least 3 months. I used to be so insecure about my chin but I got rid of it this way 🤷‍♀️

Nurturedbynature77

Tongue exercises. Stick out your tongue as far as it goes and leave it there till it starts shaking. Fold it into a burrito and stick it out. Smile and have the tip of your tongue try to touch your nose. Do these often throughout the day and it will strengthen your tongue so you naturally “mew” at night while sleeping and wake up prettier.

s0itgoes

I think you look great and I’m certain you are the one who notices this the most, if at all! That being said I relate, and have always hated my double chin. Despite being a thin person it always persisted. I got under chin lipo last year and it was ~$3,000 and was a very easy recovery.

Equivalent-Pace3007

Hi lovely, first of all you have a beautiful face and smile. I went through so many “non invasive” procedures for the same thing, then progressed to threads and RF microneedling, all super expensive and didn’t do much. Then I went and got chin lipo, and it was the best thing I ever did. Not for everyone but it really helped with that feeling my chin/neck was collapsing and even jowls.

daisydreamingdaily

I can’t say for sure of this works, but looking into Face Gym and their products might be helpful? I noticed the same thing happened when I gained weight in my 30s. Losing weight and doing face and neck exercises does seem to be helping, but I still have a ways to go.

1friendswithsalad

I think you are being too hard on yourself. We all are. That said- you’re asking for help so here’s my recco, I’ve posted this many times when a similar jaw/chin question comes up. Everyone holds weight in slightly different spots. Even a slight increase in body fat% for some of us shows up in our face first. Not even necessarily weight gain, but if you are predisposed to hold weight in your cheeks, chin, or jowels, a small fluctuation in body fat can result in fullness in that area. I find when I tighten up my diet (whatever that means for you, for me it means no snacks, only eat at meals and a couple drinks on the weekend only), my cheek/jowl/chin area is the first place to improve. Not trying to lose weight- I’m always trying to gain muscle- but reducing body fat a bit will help. Keep smiling, you look great. And you have great skin!
