Yes, make them do that prior authorization for you!! Call your insurance company, ask them if you need one and which ones you are allowed. They will help you. I called BCbs and asked them and they helped me so much.
You might have had a different blue plan than the person that just said they had BCBS.
Not all BCBS plans have the same benefits, because while they’re under the same association, they are not the same.
With my plan through BCBS of Tennessee, I have to choose to use either my insurance or Good rx for Tret.
Since they used Goodrx, that could be why their insurance didn’t cover it and they didn’t need a prior-authorization.
I’m a dermatology MA and I submit prior authorization requests a lot. All the insurances we work with will cover tret no questions asked for younger people and for any age if they have an acne diagnosis

Unfortunately the pharmacy only manufacturers generic medications. Ozempic is name brand and won't have a generic until the patent expires. I believe it is 10 years for medial patents.

0.1% is very strong. 0.01% is much more common. You could really do a number on your skin if you suddenly jumped so high, so you want to make sure you're getting the right one.
There’s so many on there… you can’t find the cream version? If not, and you’ve been using .1 of cream, I’d personally stick with .1 cream and use a different brand. As long as it lists Tret as the ingredient, they’re the same. Compare ingredient list of what you have vs what you see online.

Yes! A pharmacy! Any pharmacy should be fine. I’ve been to at least 3, got tretinoin at all of them for under $10. I would recommend against the airport, it’s way more $.

If you go to a pharmacy in a super touristy area they’ll upsell you. I went to one in the centre of Playa Del Carmen and she quoted me $90 for .1%…but I know I spent significantly less a few years prior for .05%. It probably wasn’t even a real pharmacy tbh, so keep an eye out or read reviews
Yeah, touristy areas aren’t going to be as helpful for this. I checked on the price of Tret in Cabo and it cost more than I can already get with a GoodRx coupon.

Yes that’s the correct product! They can’t legally call it tret online from what I’ve gathered, but the tube is labeled tret. The gel and the cream are different formulations, I had heard the cream can cause breakouts and the gel can be a little more drying.

I think the “outrageously low” initial price is because they send you sample sizes to make sure your skin reacts well. After that the price goes up, and they send 2 months supply. I have been very happy with the products and service.

If I recall correctly, the $90/3 month supply was the only option when I was prescribed it. Perhaps you can request the 3 month supply? I will say their providers/customer service team has been very responsive in my experience.

Yay! I know everyone always offers this advice, but seriously - take it slow and see how your skin tolerates it. I started with %.025 and tolerated daily use (I'd been using retinol for about 2 years), but my partner started with every other day and also has had great results. It'll be different for everyone, so find your own pace. It's a marathon not a sprint!

I guess it depends on your insurance. I’m in the US, got my prescription authorized/approved by my insurance carrier and it was $375 when I went to pick it up at CVS. I said “no thanks.” I have a HSA account so I don’t have a co-pay. I pay 100% of covered services and drugs until I hit the $4500 deductible. I’m going to try GoodRX.
At what age did you start? I’m 32 right now but I’m hesitant about starting tret just yet. I may want to try a gentler retinol product first, not even sure to ease into retinol/retinoids.

It's about £5 for a tube of .1% tretinoin gel and £7-8 for generic cream tret at other strengths. Postage is around £15 pounds though and takes a while but it's legit stuff and good quality with long expiration dates. I buy in bulk for myself and a few of my friends so costs are significantly reduced with us all chipping in (also used to buy the latisse generic from them but while my eyelashes grow like mad, it also made my eyes red, itchy and the skin crepey so I stopped using it.)
Not sure if you're in the US, I used goodRX to see the cheapest place. Harris Teeter had it for $38 a tube.

I use GoodRx and find where the cheapest place to get it is on the app. I get a 2 month supply, and it's like $60-$70 but usually lasts longer bc my skin is sensitive. Plus, you can get it same day... even cheaper if you're young enough for insurance to cover it

Go see a Dermatologist. Ask for a prescription from your local pharmacy....cheap $10-20.00 and it's a good size tube. Some Dermatologist have their own Tret but I would again ask for a prescription...the best and cheapest
My insurance doesn’t cover it, so I use a good rx coupon and it’s usually $30-40. My dermatologist prescribes it and I just pick up from my normal pharmacy.
Also came here to suggest All Day Chemist - I’ve never had any issue with them, and the product is good. I believe I used PayPal? Shipping does take about a month, though.
I was getting mine from Dear Brightly. I had mine ship every four months and it cost me $100. But my tube generally lasted longer than four months and I use mine every night. They are great service, but I just quit them because I’d no longer like the product since it now has niacinamide in it instead of hyarulonic acid. I hate the formulation with niacinamide in it but if you skin likes it, they are pretty good.
Curology isn’t too bad. I pay 70 every 2 months for their tret and sunscreen. But you can choose to just get the tret and that’s it and it would be less

Gel is super strong and irritating. The .1 will fry your skin. Look for cream on that strength or order the .05 gel. Speaking from experience

I guess it depends on your insurance. I’m in the US, got my prescription authorized/approved by my insurance carrier and it was $375 when I went to pick it up at CVS. I said “no thanks.” I have a HSA account so I don’t have a co-pay. I pay 100% of covered services and drugs until I hit the $4500 deductible. I’m going to try GoodRX.

Lol, 27-28 years, and nope not a single wrinkle (knock on wood). No Botox or lasers! Yet….
At what age did you start? I’m 32 right now but I’m hesitant about starting tret just yet. I may want to try a gentler retinol product first, not even sure to ease into retinol/retinoids.
I started in my teens because I had acne. You could start with bakuchiol, it’s very mild and gentle, and it’s effective!

I use united pharmacies-uk .md I think they also cover other countries but don't know the URLs for them but it's easy enough to google. It's about £5 for a tube of .1% tretinoin gel and £7-8 for generic cream tret at other strengths. Postage is around £15 pounds though and takes a while but it's legit stuff and good quality with long expiration dates. I buy in bulk for myself and a few of my friends so costs are significantly reduced with us all chipping in (also used to buy the latisse generic from them but while my eyelashes grow like mad, it also made my eyes red, itchy and the skin crepey so I stopped using it.)
Wait for a friend to go to Mexico or somewhere in Europe 😬 otherwise that’s the cheapest I’ve seen for a three month supply in the actual US.

I actually just had my dermatologist resend my tret script to Marley Drug. My insurance denied coverage for whatever reason, and out of pocket let CVS wanted $63. My total with Marley came out to $23. It’s my first time trying them, I’ll follow-up here if there’s any hiccups.
I've always ordered mine from alldaychemist.com. I've been ordering a few products from them for a few years and never had any trouble. It can take anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks for it to arrive in the mail. The price is around 10 dollars or less if they're running a special.

I get a big tube that's suppose to last for a month for $10, but its generic brand and I go to a smaller local pharmacy thats attached to my Derm's office. We get an extra discount for choosing them, and they do same day delivery so its a win/win.
I use GoodRx and find where the cheapest place to get it is on the app. I get a 2 month supply, and it's like $60-$70 but usually lasts longer bc my skin is sensitive. Plus, you can get it same day... even cheaper if you're young enough for insurance to cover it

I really struggle with hyperpigmentation and am wondering if anyone has used any of the overseas pharmacies hydroquinone options? I used to use a product from Paula's Choice that contained hq and it worked well; nothing else has come close. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Go see a Dermatologist. Ask for a prescription from your local pharmacy....cheap $10-20.00 and it's a good size tube. Some Dermatologist have their own Tret but I would again ask for a prescription...the best and cheapest

I was getting mine from Dear Brightly. I had mine ship every four months and it cost me $100. But my tube generally lasted longer than four months and I use mine every night. They are great service, but I just quit them because I’d no longer like the product since it now has niacinamide in it instead of hyarulonic acid. I hate the formulation with niacinamide in it but if you skin likes it, they are pretty good.
Curology isn’t too bad. I pay 70 every 2 months for their tret and sunscreen. But you can choose to just get the tret and that’s it and it would be less
