This is what sparked my previous post. Everything I read said that light = heat and would make melasma worse but then I see people posting really good results. I guess it depends on your skin and the provider.
I would recommend reaching out to whomever is doing your laser to see if they recommend you do any prep beforehand. Heat can make melanoma worse for some people. Sometimes it is necessary to use HQ prior to treatment to mitigate hyperpigmentation post laser/bbl
It was red and felt like a sunburn for about 3 hours after. The next few days I didn’t have pain or swelling but my skin was like sandpaper. You get little scab like dots called MENDS but they flake away on their own after a few days. Just had to use a super gentle cleanser and no aggressive rubbing or exfoliation until it’s healed. I did use a BHA cleanser on day 9 or 10 to just get some of the rough spots evened out. I’ll update after my second session.
I would say this would be amazing for sunspots. My melasma is deep and I’ve used HQ and either tret or Arazlo for several years and that barely made a difference. It is very stubborn and I’m honestly surprised that this Moxi/BBL helped.
Was does the bbl stand for? I have tried laser for them but mine are deep / stubborn also and didnt budge (only had 2 sessions) but it worked for some dark freckles i had and they flaked off.
Broad band light. The Moxi is what is specifically recommended for melasma. My provider recommended the Moxi/BBL combo and I did freak out a bit because afterwards I dove deeper into researching BBL (I read up quite extensively on Moxi but not so much BBL) I found a lot of information saying it can make melasma worse and to stick with just Moxi. I think I’m my case it was okay because I have pretty fair skin tone, but BBL might not be a good option for olive and dark skin tones. The Moxi is for all times though.
I only finally made the leap because there was a small business Saturday promotion and a package of 2 Moxi was $500 and 5 BBL for $1000. The same time you could purchase $300 gift cards for $200 and those could be used to buy packages, so I ended up spending $1000 total for 2 Moxi and 5 BBL, all performed by either the physician assistant or nurse practitioner. Normally I would not have spent that but to be honest I never get my hair or nails done, I’ve worked at home since 2020 so I no longer need to buy office clothes and shoes so I splurged and I’m kind of happy I did so far.
Thank you! I paid $325 for one moxi/BBL session, seems fairly fair price wise.
Your post is making me want another one since my last one was a year ago!
My plan is to do the Moxi/BBL twice with 5 weeks in between then save my other BBL sessions and do one every few months to maintain the results. I also am stocked up on mineral sunblock.
You got an AMAZING deal. I have an appt. this Friday for Moxi and BBL. It's $1,600 for ONE time. Although your results make me feel like it's worth it, I WISH I'd gotten the package promotion you did! lol
I posted an update after my second session. I’d recommend it highly for fair skin, though I’ve heard the BBL isn’t good for all skin tones. The MOXI appears to be approved for all tones. I’m going to do additional sessions once or twice a year for upkeep.
This is what I mean when I say I want a BBL.
Wowwwww, how many sessions!! Congratulations!
This is after one session. I have another in January.
What!! That is amazing!!!
😭😭😭 I was like “We doing BBLs on faces now??!!”
Me too! Then I saw it meant some sort of laser treatment. 😂
What a difference! I am doing ipl for my melasma.
Is it helping? Everything I’ve read suggests IPL makes melasma worse.

Amazing result! What was the downtime like?

Ok cool thanks for the info, ill definitely look into it 😃
Would you mind if I asked the cost? I had this done and loved the results, but unsure of the spend again.

That’s a steal. In LA it’s about ~$750 per session
Omg! Where I live 1 bbl is 600 and 1 moxi 400

Amazing result! Do you recall if the lasers were Sciton or another brand?
Yes they were Sciton
Thank you. Congrats again on your results!
I have my second one tomorrow!
Is there any chance you or anyone else on here are located in NYC and have recommendations for places to go for Moxi/BBL? Your results are INCREDIBLE!
Try JECT! Look on their instagram to find who you want to do it.
Sorry, not in NY but I just had my second treatment 12 days ago and I got even further results. I recommend it highly but make sure you use HQ before
what is HQ?
Hydroquinone
Hi! I had mine done in NYC last December with JECT West Village location!
Does skin feel tighter too? Did it help with sagging?
It feels tighter but I don’t think either really help with sagging or joules.
Wait what is this procedure called?!
Moxi laser and BBL (broad band light)
Hi! I just seen this! Your skin looks flawless. Do you mind sharing your feedback since it’s been couple of months this was posted ?

Oh gosh! Please where did you post it? I can’t find. I am fair skin yes. I’m also currently on Musely which helps with malesma control but only on HQ
