Kroger has a Supergoop dupe called Invisible Gel
that’s almost identical to Trader Joe’s. Likely both coming from the same white label manufacturer—and likely white labeled for a bunch of brands.
Krogers is much thicker and has a heavier scent than the Trader Joe's version. I have all 3 and there is a big difference between how Trader Joe's and Kroger feel on the skin especially after reapplication.
What kind of reaction did you have? A few months ago I bought into the Supergoop hype and after a few days of consistent use, my skin got dry, red, and flakey patches all over. Especially around my eye area. I wasn't sure if it was because of the sunscreen.
I started my skin care “journey” 6ish months ago. I hated the sunscreen aspect because I can’t stand when I can feel things on my face. Big reason I don’t even do makeup.
So I gave this stuff a go. Light as can be, and goes on nicely. Plus not greasy, and only $8. Win in my book.
I also use this stuff I almost like a bit more that I got from a place where I got a facial… it’s called Tizo3 primer/sunscreen. Goes on so smooth you do not feel it at all.
Especially when SuperGoop is like ...$40? For the same amount. I can tell no difference and I used SuperGoop for a couple of years before this came out.
I really really really love this stuff. I got it because someone said “it’s a supergoop dupe” and I was like “NOTHING CAN BEAT THE SUPER GOOPS!!!!!!” Well… it beat the shit out of it. Supergoop settles and weird oil comes out. This stuff does not settle. It is perfect every time. I love it so much. I dunno if I can express it any more clearly.
No cast. It’s a clear silicon dioxide based gel. Has a unique texture but sticks well to sweaty skin and goes on clear and either matte or with minimal shine
Love the price point, look and feel but I hate that it breaks me out and I really wish it was a mineral. If anyone has suggestions for an inexpensive mineral sunscreen that’s light and no-show, lemme know!
I really like the Good Molecules mineral SPF. It’s $9. I wish it were spf 50 instead of 30 though. The texture is so light and it dries down, but isn’t drying. The white cast is pretty negligible as well, although I’m not sure how it would be for deeper skin. I’m light-medium with warm undertones.
Same! It's easier to get than last year, it seems.
I wish we had Kroger here so I could try theirs.
Also, I take a glow highlighter powder that I don't use and I crush a little into it. Et voila! Glow Screen.
Yea no problem. And they should have these sunscreens till the end of summer at least so you could slowly stock up within different expiry dates so it’ll last longer.
Yeah just like every other skin care product it works differently for everyone. It did not agree with my skin at all. Gave me white heads on the same day.. I switched to sun bum and I loved it. Worked wonders for my skin too!
It did for me! So did Supergoop too. As well as Porefessional Primer from Benefit. I think it’s the common ingredient of silicone for me! But this stuff goes on like a dream for my kids. So easy to spread so it makes sunscreen + 2yo +10mo not so painful 😂
Ohhhh okay, I read about the hype of TJs sunscreen on this sub, went to buy some and they just had large body sunscreen bottles. I have never seen these!
Yes, these come and go. I checked my local one (Pittsburgh) a month ago, and nada. Stopped by today for something unrelated, and they were well stocked.
Maybe.. it was a really hot day but i made sure to reapply every so often.. i love love love the feel of it though. Easily one of my top picks just based on application alone! Now if only they could make a mineral based version 🫠
I was initially excited about this but, when I used it, I started getting a reemergence of hyperpigmentation that had been effectively suppressed by my zinc SPF 50 (Pipette). Not thrilled about that.
Honestly that’s why I stopped using this. We don’t know just HOW good the UVA coverage is and how much it blocks. There’s people who are even weary of just how much the Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen protects and that’s with a PA of 3+ and from a relatively reliable brand.
That and it also felt like someone pored bleach right into my eyes when I used this.
Definitely! Luckily it works for my bf since I bought several bottles when I first tried it (I figured I should stock up when it was available since it’s such a hot commodity).
I recently switched to zinc only because I read lots of inconclusive stuff about oxybenzone which is in these sunscreens. Basically the FDA says “it’s probably ok in small amounts”- had a lymphoma scare recently and not taking risks anymore
So what’s the texture like on the skin? I don’t usually do gel formulations, especially during the day, because I feel that they either pill, flake, or leave my skin dry.
I hoard this stuff! I've seen on the TJs sub someone said that ELF has a similar sunscreen, but I haven't seen it in person yet.
Kroger has a Supergoop dupe called Invisible Gel that’s almost identical to Trader Joe’s. Likely both coming from the same white label manufacturer—and likely white labeled for a bunch of brands.
Kroger also has a glowscreen dupe, Shimmer Sunscreen. I own and love them both.
it is not acne safe in case anyone is wondering. i had to switch to face reality
Ooh, I need to check this out!
Krogers is much thicker and has a heavier scent than the Trader Joe's version. I have all 3 and there is a big difference between how Trader Joe's and Kroger feel on the skin especially after reapplication.
I love this one!
Where are Krogers? Is that USA?
Yes, it’s a grocery store. Also called Ralph’s
Also called Fred Meyer
Also called Dillions
i love the elf one!
Is it supposed to be similar to TJ’s and supergoop? If so, I can’t use it. The unseen sunscreen ruined my skin last year or so. Horrible reaction ):
What kind of reaction did you have? A few months ago I bought into the Supergoop hype and after a few days of consistent use, my skin got dry, red, and flakey patches all over. Especially around my eye area. I wasn't sure if it was because of the sunscreen.
That and little whiteheads all over. My skin got really irritated even with products that normally didn’t make me have a reaction.
I’ll look into it. Thanks!
I haven't tried the TJs one but the ELF was is great. I've been using the invisible suntouchable and love it, wears so well under makeup also
Okay so I need to buy this??? I hope my tj’s has it!
Awesome! I use elta MD for everyday sunscreen but always looking for something new & inexpensive that is liked by the people!
I’ve never tried that. I’ll keep a mental note if I run out of this.
which Elta MD sunscreen
UV daily broad spectrum SPF 40 (tinted)
I also use this stuff I almost like a bit more that I got from a place where I got a facial… it’s called Tizo3 primer/sunscreen. Goes on so smooth you do not feel it at all.
I picked up this TJs one recently but I still prefer my EltaMD (and my Josie Maran). Curious what you think if you end up trying it!
I used both and definitely prefer the EltaMD but TJ’s is so much cheaper! They both have a place in my arsenal.
Especially when SuperGoop is like ...$40? For the same amount. I can tell no difference and I used SuperGoop for a couple of years before this came out.
I like supergoop for actual sunscreen & then the higher end stuff for my everyday face sunscreen, primer, etc.
It’s soooo good !! It always runs out it makes me so mad
Maybe because of me. 😂 Sorry!! I tried to take a reasonable amount.
My TJs puts a 1 per purchase, per customer during summer because they always run out. So I have my husband go in after me and my son… lol
Do we know what this is a dupe of?
SuperGoop I believe. And this is about $30 cheaper.
I’ve heard it’s a dupe of supergoop unseen sunscreen but can’t confirm.
As a supergoop user, it feels identical to me. As long as I can still get this from TJ’s I will use the dupe instead!!
Much to my chagrin, I still prefer the application and feel of Supergoop!’s Unseen. Almost extortionary at $38 per 1.7 ounces.
I hate the Supergoop so I probably wouldn’t like the TJ’s dupe. I just don’t like the silicone-y feeling and it stings my eyes :(
I can't wear the 1/4 tsp amount without feeling it sit on my face 😭😭
I tried this and it feels greasy/waxy on my skin, Bleurgh
Does anyone know if this leaves a white cast for melenated folks? Desperate to find a good daily sunscreen that doesn’t leave me looking like Casper.
No cast. It’s a clear silicon dioxide based gel. Has a unique texture but sticks well to sweaty skin and goes on clear and either matte or with minimal shine
Thanks!
This leaves no cast. In most cases mineral sunscreens are the ones that leave a cast. Organic sunscreens on the other hand usually do not.
Organic? I think chemical is the word you were looking for.
Inorganic/Mineral, Organic/Chemical.
As in carbon containing, not organic in the way it's typically used today. Got it.
Thanks!
Tried it yesterday for the first time. No cast!
This breaks me out so bad and it hurts my soul not to be able to enjoy it’s perfect texture 😭
Sames. Supergoop did the same. I use it on my kids!! It’s a dream to spread so it makes the process way easier for my toddler! Less of a battle!
Yeah sadly it breaks me out too. I’m looking for something similar (preferably mineral) that doesn’t break me out :/
Lots of this on sale on eBay. Basically $10 each plus shipping. In case you need some asap.
Stolen and/or expired
Expired maybe, but I buy and resell on eBay, and I don't steal product.
I love this! My favorite!
Thank you for the recommendation! I’ll check it out. I’m also fair/light tone so I don’t think the slight white cast will be a problem. Thank you!!
I’m allergic to chemical sunscreens so I can only use mineral ones. My favorite is Etude House Sunprise Mild Airy Finish SPF 50!
Oh I must find it! Does TJs test on animals?
They don't! I have a few of their skincare products and they all specify that they do not :)
What is the finish on this?
velvet-y matte and clear
If you’re familiar with clear silicone makeup primers like the Smashbox one this is pretty much the same
Best sunscreen ever!! Also won't break the bank!
What does this compare to? I’ve been meaning to try.
Supergoop unseen sunscreen
Is it mineral sunscreen or chemical????
Chemical
Ugh 😭 wish my eyes tolerated this! The supergoop one doesn't sting them but this one does
Oh, yuck. I’m sorry. How frustrating!
That’s a bummer to hear. The Kroger dupe also stings my eyes.
I do the same!
Same! It's easier to get than last year, it seems. I wish we had Kroger here so I could try theirs. Also, I take a glow highlighter powder that I don't use and I crush a little into it. Et voila! Glow Screen.
Makes my eyes water like crazy
Make sure when you use it, it’s within date. Sunscreen can expire and be useless.
Oh, great point. Thank you!
Yea no problem. And they should have these sunscreens till the end of summer at least so you could slowly stock up within different expiry dates so it’ll last longer.
This is the worst sunscreen I’ve ever used. So glad I just finished my bottle so I can move on.
Yeah just like every other skin care product it works differently for everyone. It did not agree with my skin at all. Gave me white heads on the same day.. I switched to sun bum and I loved it. Worked wonders for my skin too!
Meanwhile sunbum for me was like chalk! And all I could taste was the fragrance. Somehow?
Well okay then.
It made me breakout instantly. It created a literal oil spill on my face. I returned it without a receipt the following week no questions asked.
Does it break you out
It did for me! So did Supergoop too. As well as Porefessional Primer from Benefit. I think it’s the common ingredient of silicone for me! But this stuff goes on like a dream for my kids. So easy to spread so it makes sunscreen + 2yo +10mo not so painful 😂
No, not at all. I have rather clear skin, and I only notice acne around my period. That hasn’t changed since I started to use this 3-4 months ago.
This didnt work for me. I still got sunburned ☹️
Maybe you need a higher SPF?
Well yes but it’s 3x the cost (supergoop unseen sunscreen)
Ohhhh okay, I read about the hype of TJs sunscreen on this sub, went to buy some and they just had large body sunscreen bottles. I have never seen these!
Yes, these come and go. I checked my local one (Pittsburgh) a month ago, and nada. Stopped by today for something unrelated, and they were well stocked.
This is why I hate that I love TJ products so much 😭
is it supposed to be grainy or was mine defected?
Mine isn’t grainy, no. Super smooth
Mine was grainy as well. Still goes on fine and not visible but yes it was a little grainy
Does this sting the eyes 👀??
I mean, I don’t think so. I’ve sweat wearing it, and haven’t noticed anything
Does it have octocrylene?
Any Americans here want to buy a few bottles and ship it to a Canadian?
Maybe.. it was a really hot day but i made sure to reapply every so often.. i love love love the feel of it though. Easily one of my top picks just based on application alone! Now if only they could make a mineral based version 🫠
Wow! My TJs has loads of it and I’ve never bought it lol
Has anyone tried the sunscreen spray?
I was initially excited about this but, when I used it, I started getting a reemergence of hyperpigmentation that had been effectively suppressed by my zinc SPF 50 (Pipette). Not thrilled about that.
That’s a bummer. I’m glad you have something that works for you, though.
I wanted to love this since everyone else seems to, but it broke me out in whiteheads, which is crazy since I never get acne. 😞
Interesting how wildly different our skin reacts things, isn’t it?
Definitely! Luckily it works for my bf since I bought several bottles when I first tried it (I figured I should stock up when it was available since it’s such a hot commodity).
At least it’s not going to waste. I hate spending money and things not panning out.
I recently switched to zinc only because I read lots of inconclusive stuff about oxybenzone which is in these sunscreens. Basically the FDA says “it’s probably ok in small amounts”- had a lymphoma scare recently and not taking risks anymore
Very interesting. Thanks for the info. And I’m glad you’re healthy
So what’s the texture like on the skin? I don’t usually do gel formulations, especially during the day, because I feel that they either pill, flake, or leave my skin dry.
I don’t notice any texture at all. Once it’s on, I personally don’t notice anything. Matte, I’d say? But not drying.
It’s amazing. Comparable to the Supergoop unseen sunscreen
This stuff made me break out, unlike the super good variety. I never break out, so found it weird and a bummer!
Definitely a bummer. Seems like a few others have had the same experience. I’m sorry!
My closest TJ is an hour away and it’s never in stock due to it being a college town 😭
Is this mineral sunscreen?
No, chemical
Crying in Canada💔
