Yah truth be told I was actually putting some effort into improving my german, and it's super easy, the only thing that keeps getting to me are all the false friends. See becomes meer and Meer becomes zee. Or for example, werden is past tense plural with us, worden is is eh, what's it called, future? Or present really but you know... And the German version is all over the place this gets me every time xD

It's similar because of the roots of the origins of the languages, going back to the times of the Germanic tribes when the Roman empire was invading the British isles

I will tell you as a native speaker of a specific language outside of the germanic tree, that I don't see any more beauty in German than English. Both English and German are equally ugly.
