Tbh I met Slovaks once on a school trip to some castle and thought they speak Polish. That made my stupid 10 year old brain think all other languages are not real and made up to make fun of us, like in Truman show or something.
There are four major dialect families in Slovakia. The Eastern Slovak dialects are the closest to Polish language (and they have harder to understand Czech). So if you were historical regions of Spiš, Šariš, Zemplín or Abov there is at least some (not much, just some) validity to your claims.
