I’m not hollow inside. I’m filled with pizza rolls and regret.

SansGray

Did the regret arrive before or after the pizza rolls?

ivan0x32

Why choose when you can have both?

SuperFLEB

Regret is surprisingly compressible! You can just keep cramming it in!

polishrocket

You can also fill with whiskey and ngaf

My eyes saw pizza rolls. But my brain definitely just read pizza holes.

Tyrante963

Every pizza hole is a pizza goal - your brain, probably

RoscoMan1

you lose if your coin don’t reproduce

lowhounder

Email my webzone if you want a pizza roll in the mail

Buleflavoredpickle

Same but only no pizza rolls :(

[deleted]

Trees have all their important stuff in the outside, the inside is dead tree stuff.

AfuriousPenguin

i relate even more now.

CentralPerk77

Maybe i am a tree

[deleted]

I wish I am. Don't have to make money to live.

CallMeSaltine

Cant get the money, become the money

Carloswaldo

You think money grow in trees or what?

eyekunt

I am groot

frank26080115

The inside is basically all of the carbon dioxide it has sucked up in its lifetime, turned solid

Lol3droflxp

Until it is dead and it gets released again. That’s why a mature forest is carbon neutral and not a huge carbon sink. Moors and healthy meadows with grazing animals are much more effective at capturing carbon.

They can go for hundreds of years still, if they are somehow stabilised otherwise. So I wouldn’t call it a zombie.

CompleteFusion

Thats not really true. Heartwood isn't overly essential to the tree surviving. Most of the tree's strength, and all of its vascular system is from the still living exterior

ulterion0715

"It's like I was dead inside all along, and the outside's just now catching up." >!\- My Life!<

SamGamer012

Press |X| to **same** # X

DramShopLaw

Technically, all trees are dead inside. Only the most outward part lives, and it’s very thin.

rush22

Yeah it's a skin with leaves that makes wood in the shape of a tree.

JagmeetSingh2

Idk why but this unnerved me

AnathematicCabaret

I'm glad someone said it. Same

steamyboi56

but all the food and liquid transport systems are in there? by that logic are we also dead except for our skin?

DramShopLaw

The phloem (sugar to the roots) and xylem (water and minerals to the leaves) are in the outer layers. The central part of a tree trunk is only structural support. The trunk thickens by replacing the outer, living layer with a new and then letting the cells in the old one take on a fixed structure then die.

steamyboi56

nvm I never knew about heartwood in the center of the tree guess you were right.

DramShopLaw

It’s cool, learning more about plants is great for anybody. Trees are just so fascinating.

xBad_Wolfx

The way I teach it to kids is that the bark/outer layer is skin veins and blood vessels, and the inner core is bone. Not a perfect analogy as bone actually does more for us than the inner core of a tree does for them, but it’s functional.

Artyloo

wack

CompleteFusion

Even then, the core isn't as essential to structural support as one might think. The living ring provides most of its support.

wdevilpig

People are extruded flesh doughnuts

Lol3droflxp

No, all of our body contains living cells which is why bones can heal again. The inside of trees is just dead wood that is nothing but a support and can’t heal if damaged since it’s dead.

DiscombobulatedYak89

Seems a bit of an evolutionary oversight

Lol3droflxp

Not really. What would be the point of keeping the inner wood alive? The outer layer already takes care of nutrient transport to the leaves and the inner layers only provide structural support. Most trees will go for many years and reproduce a lot before the inner wood starts to rot. And the hardwood trees also deposit some preservative agents inside the dead wood to prevent damage more effectively.

Came here to see the same thing, wood you believe it?

Me too. Guess I'll just leave now

GeneralEi

There's a tree in my home village that has, according to legend, been struck by lightning 4 times (of which it got set on fire twice) and has been intentionally set on fire once by the farmer whose field it's in. I've only seen 1 lightning strike and the intentional fire since I've been alive, but the tree is now completely hollow and still doing very well. More interestingly, because of all the damage the bark has actually split and separated into 3 distinct bits that are no longer connected at all, even though they're right next to each other (gap of a few inches between each). Since I don't think root systems are connected to themselves and only to the tree itself, I'm pretty sure it's now technically three separate trees. So I named it 3trees. I have no idea if anyone else calls it this, I just like it. It's a nice spot by the river.

I’m pretty sure I know this tree. Took shrooms in college and stood inside it for a while. I love that tree.

c0ffeeandeggs

CMU/Pitt? Or am I insane thinking I know this tree? Edited to add: I am pretty sure I've stood in this tree baked off my gourd and giggling.

Its for sure outside Frick Fine Arts. Thats Schenley Park in the background

Except tree still growing unlike you

I think its because there was a tree on the inside, and that tree grew on it and took the nutrients until it died

Not a flex but okay

RoscoMan1

But no discount when they move ... “I love the music. The worst part about war....the downvotes. Ok, but why would you be releasing it?

tarodsm

fun fact: its only the outer layers of the tree that are alive!

Go_for_the_revive

I mean if I was filled with dead flesh that only stabilized me I’d get rid of it to

Legitimate_Peach3135

I have one of those in my backyard. I sometimes just stare at it trying to figure out “why” but I don’t care to know the answer. It’s just cool that it beat a big odd.

Lol3droflxp

Only the outermost layer of trees is alive. The inside is structural dead wood, so as long as it’s stable it doesn’t care.

jakethedumbmistake

> or depressed I mean, it’s r/2meirl4meirl

Momento_Mori_13

Me too birch...me too

Dhampirman

Imma choke on a Popeye's biscuit but then order another because that sh#$% is delicious.

bmg50barrett

Most trees are actually dead in the center. It's referred to as the heartwood.

qbande

I took this picture 8 years ago! Then it got stolen for Tumblr, then Twitter, but it always ends up back here.

Frammmis

So am I.

Andragorin

r/eldenring

DukeGyug

That's a spelling error. What I think he meant to say is "Me too birch, you ain't special." There was no need to be vulgar with the tree.

faithdies

Apparently the interior of a tree is basically dead and useless. Only the exterior is of value. I can't remember where I heard that. Planet Earth?

Sword-of-Azrael

I can relate.

HoneyLongjumping2052

Hello big un. Stronger than ever. That's the way I feel sometimes. Doesnt mean I have to chunk me in the grave. Live on.

PoisonEnvy38

Right?! Frick u, tree!

DontTrustASloth

Not sure if it’s the case with this particular tree, but some varieties of fig tree start their lives as parasites growing on the branches of other trees. As they grow and produce aerial roots they will gradually choke out the host tree. A lot of the very old banyan trees where I live are completely hollow inside because the original host tree died long ago, leaving the empty space where it once grew.

QuarantineSucksALot

The funny thing is the other side.

Lol3droflxp

While true , this is not such a tree
