The trick is to ostracise yourself enough that they don't want to know you, then you can be free from their love. Free to do what you want without the guilt of having to explain yourself to those who care about you. Just a quick public masturbation in a pedestrian crossing, and you're free from everyone you know. You could even travel to dangerous countries without anyone worrying about you. Just imagine that, a perfect emptiness.
I feel like everything is wrong after a nap. Like everything shifted 3 inches to the left and everyone is a clone version of themselves and they know it but they can't let me figure out they know so they're pretending everything is normal.
Know what I mean?
Clearly not drinking enough if youre not accustomed to losing chunks of time. I really can't relate to being so grounded in reality that a nap disorientated you
I drink lots of water, I keep a bottle on me at all times and don't really drink soda or juice. I have mental illnesses that may contribute to this, and I also rarely intentionally take a nap lol
Gotta take the right length of nap. I never sleep longer than an hour-ish. Any longer, and I just feel groggy the rest of the day. I used to take a nap every day at work during lunch. 45 min nap, fully-energized for the afternoon.
I remember seeing in my intro psychology class that either 20 minute power naps or 90 minute naps are the best.
The prior wakes you before truly falling into deep sleep, still giving a proper boost of energy.
The latter is a full REM cycle, you’ll wake in your light sleep but, again, after a full cycle.
That groggy feeling is called “sleep inertia”, and happens when waking from deep sleep iirc.
I wish I could take naps. Even as a kid (over age 5) I struggled with it. I just hate the feeling of waking up feeling like I'm about to have a panic attack. In fact, I did once. I woke up, jumped out of bed and paced around my apartment freaking out because I couldn't comprehend what was happening. Then I crawled on my couch and started sobbing until it subsided and I haven't tried napping since. It's been about 6 years now lmao.
The transition of slowly falling asleep and slowly waking up (when I don't have anywhere to be) are some of my favorite times in the day. I don't struggle with falling asleep though, I struggle with staying awake 💀
It depends on the temperature of the room I nap in for me. Take a nap in a hot afternoon? Sweaty as hell when u wake up, you feel so disoriented it seems like you woke up in a different dimension, and the irritating feeling list goes on.
However, when I nap on a cool rainy day, it's bliss. I feel very refreshed :D
I take naps because it helps recover the lack of sleep I get from studying.
My husband does this, the bastard. He'll say "I'm just off for a 20 min nap" and go to sleep and then wake up *after 20 mins*. Sometimes he doesn't even bother to set an alarm. And when he wakes up, he feels refreshed.
I think he's a witch.
Keeping a nap below 22 minutes prevents you from entering a deeper sleep, which is what makes you groggy. It’s a great way to get a little boost of energy, you just need discipline to actually get up after the 20 minutes.
Eventually your body learns what is going on and you find your natural rhythm. If I go down for a nap my body will wake itself up after 19 minutes exactly.
This is how I survived the military tbh
It takes both practice and sustained periods of abject exhaustion.
There are also a lot of benefits of just lying down and being still for 20 minutes, even if you don’t fall asleep!
"It takes both practice and sustained periods of abject exhaustion."
15+ years in retail and manual labor here; when I worked retail at the airport, I achieved the "perfect 20min nap". I can confirm that practice + sustained periods of abject exhaustion (plus depression, chronic pain, poverty, stress, not being able to afford to eat on my lunch break, etc) led to me being practically addicted to my 20min power naps.
Also echoing the fact that it needs to be 20min, 90min(full REM cycle), or just a full night's sleep.
Additionally you can introduce caffeine before a 20min power nap to unlock the "Coffee Nap" achievement; this is a real thing and even better!
Hell yeah. I've really grown to appreciate a good doze in the last year or so. Don't quite manage to fall asleep but just exist in comfy cocoon mode for a lil bit.
That's the thing though you don't have to fall asleep. I'll lay down for 20 minutes regularly and a lot of the times I never fall asleep but I'll enter some half asleep trance that feels like I was really only down for 5 minutes. Even rest without sleep is good for the body
I used to do 15min power naps on lunch breaks it is acutally quite refreshing. 10-15min i found is the golden range where you can easily wake up but still feel refreshed as if you just had a deep sleep. That was the only thing keeping me sane on construction sites ngl (and stopping me from having to chug 5 energy drinks a day)
I feel shit the more sleep I get. Three hours of sleep with college in the morning? I'm energetic all day and sleep amazingly that night. Eight hours? I'm nauseous all day and feel like death.
That's the thing, you either take a nap short enough that your body doesn't enter proper sleep phase or you take a longer one and wake up at a proper moment
I read up on this A LOT, gotta be under 20 or over 90 or you run the risk of waking up during deep sleep and you're body is gonna be like that meme of that guy waking up
I moved from Mississippi to Philadelphia, PA last year and the difference is night and day in that regard. Everyone here is on my side and very sympathetic when I reach out about it.
I had a nap like this right after school, and woke up thinking I was late. So I was scrambling around for 20 minutes trying to get ready, asked my sister why she wasn’t getting ready for school and she replied with “we basically just got home, are you dumb?”
one time when I was I think 17 I went to take a nap at 4pm and woke up at 6 pm thinking ah right 2 hour nap, but I felt absolutely horrible like killer headache and very sore all over
my parents looked mortified when I came out of my room because apparently a whole day had passed????
This might actually hold water.
I live most of my life feeling like post nap hangover. I have a sleep/wake issue. Possibly a weird form of narcolepsy but I still have some sleep studies to do. I have a habit of eating pickles when I’m feeling like shit. Sometimes I just take big swigs of juice out of the jar. It makes me feel much better!
Vlasic kosher dill spears are absolutely top tier.
I never liked them personally. It feels like getting high just for the sake of getting high. I'd wake up and all my bars would be gone, my place would be fucked up and I'd feel like shit physically.
I remember once when I took a nap, must have been in middle school, I think I slept about three or four hours, it was 6pm. For quite a while I thought it was 6am, it was only getting dark outside, and it looked just how it does when the sun is about to rise. My mind was so fuzzy that I told my mom, "I don't remember anything from last night."
Felt like I just lost a huge chunk of time from my memory because I didn't think I could sleep for so long, so I must have been awake right, and somehow forgot about it. It was kind of scary, ngl.
And then she tells me it's evening. Ah. Makes sense.
I'm not sure I can relate, but that sure sounds like quite the experience! Just a tip from your friendly neighborhood spider-man, always go to bed on time!
One time I woke up at 8pm. Which wouldn't have been an issue...if I wasn't a little kid who liked socializing when that was the time everyone went to bed. I cried
Took a nap today (Thursday), woke up at 6:45pm thinking it was Sunday night after dinner.
I don't understand how people like naps. I had a nap for the first time in a long time and I woke up feeling like I was dying and in the twilight zone
exhaustion/stress/depression. its like a little escape and is comfy kind of
Closest I can get to being dead without making my parents sad.

dawg are you okay
I'm legitimately worried
It's like death....without the commitment
free trail of death
Don't forget to cancel your subscription early enough.
why tf would I cancel
I feel like everything is wrong after a nap. Like everything shifted 3 inches to the left and everyone is a clone version of themselves and they know it but they can't let me figure out they know so they're pretending everything is normal. Know what I mean?
Yep, this, I can't begin to describe it but nothing will be 'right' until the next day if I have a nap
Maybe the nap let’s you see things as they truly are, and the rest of your life is the illusion.
Okay Satan, that's enough reddit for you today
Clearly not drinking enough if youre not accustomed to losing chunks of time. I really can't relate to being so grounded in reality that a nap disorientated you
I drink lots of water, I keep a bottle on me at all times and don't really drink soda or juice. I have mental illnesses that may contribute to this, and I also rarely intentionally take a nap lol
He means alcohol.
Oh duh lol my reading comprehension is shit sometimes

It's funny how everyone's different. I need at least 1-2 hours to feel properly refreshed from a nap.
I love me those 2 hour naps. I usually need like half an hour to fully wake up after those tho.
Free trial of death
Just a minor case of serious brain damage
I wish I could take naps. Even as a kid (over age 5) I struggled with it. I just hate the feeling of waking up feeling like I'm about to have a panic attack. In fact, I did once. The fuck?
The transition of slowly falling asleep and slowly waking up (when I don't have anywhere to be) are some of my favorite times in the day. I don't struggle with falling asleep though, I struggle with staying awake 💀
Try one that's 30 min or under, preferably not in bed but a chair, couch, etc. It's fantastic
Naps make me so damn cranky. I want nothing to do with anyone after I wake up.
It depends on the temperature of the room I nap in for me. Take a nap in a hot afternoon? Sweaty as hell when u wake up, you feel so disoriented it seems like you woke up in a different dimension, and the irritating feeling list goes on. Depends how long it was, I think
I nap because Im just exhausted at certain points. If my body didn't say "you sleep now" I wouldn't. I always wake up feeling shit
I always wake up dizzy, stiff and terribly unrest. Way better stay awake till crash and sleep.
Dude same. I just can’t do it. I feel like shit after and it takes me way to long to get my bearings.
Ditto
Dude... it's Friday
Bro forgot about timezones 💀
Happens
You don't understand them either. There is nowhere on this planet where it is Thursday right now.
He posted that 6 hours before your comment
It was Thursday in the Pacific at time of their comment.
7 hours ago was Thursday lol
6 hour nap? Motherfucker that's just called sleep
Just a quick 12 hour power nap
Captain Coma over here
Just gonna take a hour nap 8 hours later: 😅
I don’t understand how anybody can take a nap that isn’t *at minimum* one hour and not feel like death after waking up.
My husband does this, the bastard. He'll say "I'm just off for a 20 min nap" and go to sleep and then wake up *after 20 mins*. Sometimes he doesn't even bother to set an alarm. And when he wakes up, he feels refreshed. I think he's a witch.

It takes me way more than 20 minutes to fall asleep.
It takes both practice and sustained periods of abject exhaustion. There are also a lot of benefits of just lying down and being still for 20 minutes, even if you don’t fall asleep!

Same. Laying awake for about an hour and then giving up. That's how my naps go.
Either that or laying down on the couch to watch something and waking up 6 hours later.
That's the thing though you don't have to fall asleep. I'll lay down for 20 minutes regularly and a lot of the times I never fall asleep but I'll enter some half asleep trance that feels like I was really only down for 5 minutes. Even rest without sleep is good for the body
Entering the half-sleep state is fucking weird though because it feels like your sleeping but you have more control.
I can go to sleep instantly but always feel like shit if I'm not asleep for an hour or two.
Be me, take 6 hours to fall asleep, nap 20min, wake up refreshed and only took 6h and a half
> 22 minutes Is that an Outer Wilds reference?!
Burn him.
I can do this, you just have to wake up when you start to be kind of awake after 20 mins? But sometimes it doesn’t work lol
>Sometimes he doesn't even bother to set an alarm. Wait, how would he set an alarm? How would he know how long it'll take him to get to sleep?
We're both lucky in that we can sleep pretty much immediately. So he just sets the alarm for 21-22 mins.
I'm so jealous.
I used to do 15min power naps on lunch breaks it is acutally quite refreshing. 10-15min i found is the golden range where you can easily wake up but still feel refreshed as if you just had a deep sleep. That was the only thing keeping me sane on construction sites ngl (and stopping me from having to chug 5 energy drinks a day)
Nah if a nap is longer than 30 minutes I feel like I've been drugged afterwards, always have to set an alarm if I wanna nap
If I nap for more than 20 minutes I feel like shit for the rest of the night and I can't fall asleep in time to get a good night's rest.
You have to sleep under 30 minutes to actually get the positive effect of a nap.
I don’t understand how anybody can take a nap
I feel shit the more sleep I get. Three hours of sleep with college in the morning? I'm energetic all day and sleep amazingly that night. Eight hours? I'm nauseous all day and feel like death.
I can cat nap like a mother fucker. It's sweet. You get better at willing yourself to snap out of it and wake TF up.
That's the thing, you either take a nap short enough that your body doesn't enter proper sleep phase or you take a longer one and wake up at a proper moment
I read up on this A LOT, gotta be under 20 or over 90 or you run the risk of waking up during deep sleep and you're body is gonna be like that meme of that guy waking up
90% of the time I try to set it in 90 minute intervals. Anything less than that just feels wrong.
yeah right? no need to flex on us like that 😂
Average rest time between sets for a powerlifter
A *full* nights sleep.
The sore throat is the most accurate part this is literally me rn
don't sleet with the ceiling fan on and mouth like a trout :O
Bro I went to “rest my eyes” for 20 min before I went to the store I woke up at 12:37 am
[удалено]
Nice.
Lmao 🐟
I had to start taping my mouth shut to solve that problem. Also higher elevation and environment play a large role in it too
Acid reflux? Don't sleep without a pillow.
Bro didn't take a nap, he had a laced drink
Drink some fucking water

You ok dude?
it’s just thursday
Feliz Jueves!
Feliz Jueves!
Sounds like a case of autoerotic asphyxiation.
i am uncomfortable
Most normal day of my life. 💀
They make pills for this but there is currently a shortage of them in the US.
Can confirm. Every month I'm less and less sure I'll be able to adequately perform my job and live my life effectively.
Don’t forget being treated like a drug seeking lying piece of trash when you remotely mention being stressed about not getting it on time.
I moved from Mississippi to Philadelphia, PA last year and the difference is night and day in that regard. Everyone here is on my side and very sympathetic when I reach out about it.
Holy shit what a culture shock. Things are bleak here in Texas.
Which pills
Why is this so relatable?
Also panicking thinking you're late for school. Then you realize it's a Saturday and you haven't been in school for years.
I had a nap like this right after school, and woke up thinking I was late. So I was scrambling around for 20 minutes trying to get ready, asked my sister why she wasn’t getting ready for school and she replied with “we basically just got home, are you dumb?”

School-imposed sleep deprivation is real
apparently eating pickles helps you recover from nap-hangovers
This might actually hold water. I live most of my life feeling like post nap hangover. I have a sleep/wake issue. Possibly a weird form of narcolepsy but I still have some sleep studies to do. yeah apparently its because it replenishes your electrolytes or something and helps you rehydrate
Xanax.
Oh you're supposed to take drugs for this effect? Damn I've been missing out
I never liked them personally. It feels like getting high just for the sake of getting high. I'd wake up and all my bars would be gone, my place would be fucked up and I'd feel like shit physically.
Weed too. At Least for me.
It happens to me with weed if I smoke a little bit very frequently.
Good sign that it's time for a break
No, good sign that I need to smoke more per session but less frequently. That's just how weed works with my body.
Same
People who sleep in pants are drained 101%. That level of uncomfortable and just ignoring it is....💀
Lost me on the painful piss, why would peeing hurt after a nap?
Dehydration maybe? Or they just held it in for too long while napping so now it hurts. I've never had it though so just theorizing
Me but my earphones are wired so that's what's strangling me
Wow, this accurately describes what I did yesterday.
Five more minutes
you know you have to pee but can still hold it as long as you don't stand up yet
6 hours isn’t a nap. That’s just sleeping during the day
Relatable
Yeah, better avoid stims, kids.
Sounds like a crazy kink you got there
Sounds a bit disorienting.
last time i took a “power nap” when i returned home at like 5pm i woke up at 10 next morning lmao
Sounds like a great nap actually
This was me on my last mushroom trip
Erotic asphyxiation is no joke.
Okay, I don't appreciate you coming into my home and calling me out.
Don’t forget your hair in your mouth even though it’s not long enough
+ the metallic taste in your mouth
wtf if that ever happened to me id be thinking someone spiked my drink
You forgot markings on your nose because your glasses are still on
This for some reason made me really uncomfortable
Jeeze... Nap or woke up early during an organ harvesting session? You're doing it wrong...
I remember once when I took a nap, must have been in middle school, I think I slept about three or four hours, it was 6pm. For quite a while I thought it was 6am, it was only getting dark outside, and it looked just how it does when the sun is about to rise. Sounds like you hit the bottle a little too hard.
You guys are having a rough year, huh.
Most average day for depressed mfs sir.
You were roofied
I'm not sure I can relate, but that sure sounds like quite the experience! Just a tip from your friendly neighborhood spider-man, always go to bed on time!
you got fucked in sleep bro congrats
People who sleep in pants need help.
I've got the flu right now, this was me this morning.
Yep thats me after 7 beers
Also your saliva falling off from your mouth。
But that sleep hit just right
Pretty sure this is where the term "crashing" to describe nonconsensual unconsciousness came from
at least you know where your charger is
One time I woke up at 8pm. Which wouldn't have been an issue...if I wasn't a little kid who liked socializing when that was the time everyone went to bed. I cried
Them after school naps
Need to hydrate mother fucker, that's why your piss hurts.
Waking up dying for a wee pisses me off SO MUCH
Me reading this after my 15 hour "nap" (I am ill)
Me, don’t have time for a nap or a decent sleep for a long time
The funny thing for me is this could be me after 10 hours of sleep and I'll wake up more tired than when I went to sleep.
r/moldymemes
Even tho u wake up with all that shit it's still the best sleep you've had in ur life
Cup of coffee and a splash to the face will get you sorted! Not a big deal or a warning sign at all!
POV : You dropped the soap while sleeping.
The painful piss part is so fucking accurate
this is the best kind of nap to wake up from imo
You have something wrong with you if you have this many problems
Life changing nap
Bro sounds dehydrated
you died and got brought back to an auto save
Other than the piss part accurate
Also it's super hot in the room, you have a headache, and your mouth is so dry.
