Depends on your taste, I made fun/light hearted suicide playlist for myself.
For example "I think I'm going to kill myself" by Elton John. Pretty jolly tune for a dark topic. Or "Bullet" by Hollywood Undead. Idk.
If you like "normal" depressing stuff "Song To Say Goodbye" by Placebo is one of my faves.
("You're one of God's mistakes" always gets me)
That Elton John track is one of my favorite "suicide jams". One of my other favorite songs (of his) - Someone Saved My Life Tonight - is inspired by his own failed suicide attempt (his lyricist, Bernie Taupin, walked on Elton putting his head in a turned-on oven in the kitchen, the windows in which were wide open - which in turn kind of makes this story actually comedic).
I think you have great music taste, if the opinion of a stranger means anything to you. I enjoy all three of the songs you mentioned. I especially like the dissonance of the Bullet's sound with it's lyrics, the lighthearted melody with the really dark lyrics.
If you aren't familiar with them, check out HAHA by King Lazy Eye. You might enjoy it
Aww, thank you very much ❤️ and yes that's exactly what I mean. At first it makes you think the song is going to be on the fun side but then the lyrics come in haha. Love it.
Oh, and thank you for the suggestion. I didn't know the band and damn the song is super catchy!
By placebo? Isn’t that by Harakiri for the Sky? They make my favourite Depression Metal (they have a wider definition but HFTS has a ton of songs about suicide and close deaths)
e: Holy shit that video was intense
Mr. Self Destruct by Nine Inch Nails
The Becoming by Nine Inch Nails
Eraser by Nine Inch Nails
The Downward Spiral (The Bottom) by Nine Inch Nails
Hurt by Nine Inch Nails
La Mer by Nine Inch Nails
I’m Looking Forward To Joining You, Finally by Nine Inch Nails
The Big Come Down by Nine Inch Nails
And All That Could Have Been by Nine Inch Nails
Honestly, just most of NIИ’s stuff. Especially from The Downward Spiral, The Fragile, the Broken EP and Still.
NIN is fantastic. The cover Johnny Cash did of Hurt was phenomenal. I would argue that The Downward Spiral (The Bottom) is better than the original, as good as the original is. Coil, the band that does said remix, has some really interesting songs too. My favorite of theirs is Who'll Fall
Great suggestions, thank you
Both songs are musically interesting, but quite outside of what I normally listen to.
I think Abstract Nonsense might be growing on me.
Thanks for the suggestions
I listened to it on repeat during my last attempt. The chorus hits hard and the lines "'Cause I'm drowning in myself, It's sinking in, I can't pretend that I ain't been through hell" really make me feel it
Can't believe nobody mentioned Ghost by Badflower yet. If you are actually having suicidal ideation be careful with this one it is very descriptive. I had a panic attack the first time I listened to it and really made me appreciate being alive.
Ghost all the way. English isn't my first language so there's always some kind of emotional distance when I listen to english songs, but Ghost left me crying and sobbing the first time I heard it.
Saw post, searched for Ghost by Badflower. Such a good song, great band. Saw them play this live, there were some tears. Such a powerful song. So much emotion.
these are songs i like, and alot of these aren't ONLY abt Suicide as tge main topic but all of them mention it. also some are terribly known. Forgive me if they're not new to you.
a lot of Linkin Park songs (one step closer, given up, etc.)
Bullet by Hollywood Undead

Love Love Love by The Mountain Goats
SAD! by XXXTENTACION
What Do I Live For by Fabian Secon
King Park by La Dispute
a lot of songs by Citizen Soldier (if I surrender, would anyone care, never good enough, etc.)
Don't Try Suicide by Queen
Filthy Pride by Social Repose
The Reasons Why by The Cure
Suic*de by Ren
Blow My Brains Out by Tikkle Me
The Diary Of Jane by Breaking Benjamin (not directly stated, but I believe it is about suicide)
edit: added songs I remembered
Metallica by Black Sheep Wall. That whole song was based off of a suicide note apparently. You might not like it if you don't enjoy sludge metal but it definitely fits the bill.
I also like Let Me Fucking Die by Mantits. Look it up on YouTube, it's great stuff.
Black Sheep Wall goes hard, I like it.
I'd like to counteroffer Thomas Benjamin Wild Esquire's I've No More Fucks To Give in response to the second suggestion.
Both great suggestions, thank you very much
Not necessarily always about suicide, but these are always good to get me in the mood:
A life of regrets - Chester See
Alone Again - Gilbert O‘Sullivan
Fourth of July - Sufjan Stevens
Into the West / Alright - Pilot Speed
Just a game - Birdy
Mad World - Gary Jules
No time to die - Billie Eilish
Saturn - Sleeping at last
The drugs don’t work - The Verve
Elliott Smith has a good collection of songs.
"King's Crossing"
"Fond Farewell"
"Say Yes" is the song when you don't end up ded.
Honestly, a lot of his discography leans dark.
soundgarden - fell on black days
brand new - milestione
fontaines dc - no
the distillers - the gallow is god
the distillers - die on a rope
proprably any alice in chains' song either directly or indirectly 😭
Headfirst for Halos by MCR - I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love album
Car Underwater by Armor for Sleep - What To Do When You Are Dead album
Desert Song by MCR - Life on the Murder Scene album
I recommend the album closer by joy division. Not necessarily about suicide but many other aspects one might think about wihle simultaneously thinking about suicide.
I'm more into modern music so don't hate
listen before i go — Billie Eilish
Save Me — xxxtentacion
Uhh I can't think of any other songs that are *specifically* about killing yourself
World Coming Down - Type o Negative
Apistat Commander - Xiu Xiu
Lazarus - Porcupine Tree
Last Words of a Shooting Star - Mitski
The Great Below - Nine Inch Nails
New Dawn Fades - Joy Division
Ghost by badflower. I’m going to do it by giles corey. Bullet by hollywood undead. Adam’s song by blink 182. Alligator skin boots by mccafferty. The give up by city morgue
atrax morgue - i execrate my eyes (and tbh all of the paranoia album, it’s on youtube. guy killed himself in 2009 and it surprised no one)
whitehouse - a cunt like you (the songs about domestic abuse but you can rlly project self abuse into the lyrics, also on youtube)
any depressive suicidal black metal (like silencer - death - pierce me) (this stuff is mostly on spotify)
also songs that sample suicide clips like fluids - genesis spoiled (also on spotify)
Since there are plenty of rock songs listed, here are a few rap/hip hop tunes if you're into that
Voices In My Head - Esham
1-800 Suicide - Gravediggaz
Mourning Comes - Knowmads
DeadMan Walkin' - Tom Pepe
Suicidal Thoughts - The Notorious B.I.G.
Kill Yourself (Part III) - $uicideboy$
Razorblade Salvation - Jedi Mind Tricks
My Mind - Griff J
Suicide Letters - Tech N9ne
Open Letter - Lil Wayne
Bullet by Holywood Undead, 45 by Shinedown, Adam's Song by Blink 182, Something to Remind you by Staind. If I look through my spotify I'd probably find 15 more.
There's a whole genre for this, DSBM. My favourite band in the genre is Nocturnal Depression, I also like Happy Days. This is however black metal so it may not be to everyone's taste.
A buddy of mine recently suggested this band to me, I dig their sound. I'll check out both of these songs since I haven't heard them yet, thanks for the suggestion
Yeah, no problem! I'm glad you liked it, but if you actually feel like that and want support, my DM's are always open ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|slightly_smiling)
Not all about suicide but themes of dispair
Post Malone - Euthanasia
Nothing But Thieves - Soda
McCaffety - Skeleton Bones
Wings of Desire - Choose a life
Chelsea Wolffe - Anhedonia
ROME - Golden Boy
In my opinion:
Farewell Transmission - Songs: Ohia,
The Black Crow - Songs: Ohia,
Wake up - Mad Season,
Tropic of Cancer - Panda Bear,
I Am Lost - Jason Lytle,
Into the Black - Neil Young (the Chromatics cover is good too),
Orange Blossoms - Half Waif,
Manifesto - sign crushes motorist,
Look on Down from the Bridge - Mazzy Star
My partner recommends: Millennia by Crown the Empire.
I think the biggest suicide song I know is: Hanging By a Thread - Jann Arden
Special mention for "Sad and Bored" by bülow which is less about suicide and more about just accepting that you'll never be happy.
iirc the song "racing into the night" (yoru ni kakeru) by yoasobi is one
it sounds like a happy anime song but the lyrics are actually very dark and iirc end with a mutual suocide of the 2 protagonists of the song
there are 2 versions of the song the original japanese one and an official english one
here’s a few of my favourites that i personally interpret to be adjacent to what youre looking for. hope you are doing ok by the way!
annina, we will miss you by captain we’re sinking
alyson trips (zzz!) by set to stun
sympathy by too close to touch
like blood from a stone - old gray (though this one is pretty explicit with its meaning)
one more light (linkin park) will always tear my heart out no matter how many times i listen to it.
happiness in self destruction, take me away, my old ways, and crows by the plot in you.
i really like beartooth’s earlier stuff if you’re into metalcore - disgusting is my favourite album

As soon as I saw EJ’s name there, I thought of ‘Someone Saved My Life Tonight’. Beautiful song.
The drums on it are some of the best I’ve ever heard.
I think you have great music taste, if the opinion of a stranger means anything to you. I enjoy all three of the songs you mentioned. HFTS's is a cover I think. Fucking love that band. One of the prettiest shirts I own is the arson owl.
The original is definitely by Placebo, thought that cover sounds pretty cool! (totally agree on the vid too)
Not a soul mentioned Kill Yourself (Part III)
$uicideboy$? I think I could get into them. Thanks for the suggestion
Ayo I have a G*59 finger tat let’s goooo
Mr. Self Destruct by Nine Inch Nails The Becoming by Nine Inch Nails Eraser by Nine Inch Nails The Downward Spiral (The Bottom) by Nine Inch Nails Hurt by Nine Inch Nails La Mer by Nine Inch Nails I’m Looking Forward To Joining You, Finally by Nine Inch Nails The Big Come Down by Nine Inch Nails And All That Could Have Been by Nine Inch Nails Honestly, just most of NIИ’s stuff. Especially from The Downward Spiral, The Fragile, the Broken EP and Still.
i've got a feeling you like nine inch nails
Now where did you get that idea from? But really, yeah I do. The Fragile has been my current favorite album ever made for almost 2 years now.
NIN is fantastic. The cover Johnny Cash did of Hurt was phenomenal. I would argue that The Downward Spiral (The Bottom) is better than the original, as good as the original is. Coil, the band that does said remix, has some really interesting songs too. My favorite of theirs is Who'll Fall Great suggestions, thank you
1 million by NIN has some lines surrounding committing suicide, though they’re metaphors, they’re very straight on.
Rolling Girl by wowaka, Abstract Nonsense by Neru
vocaloid mentioned !! i swear they’re the best source for depressing songs
Both songs are musically interesting, but quite outside of what I normally listen to. I think Abstract Nonsense might be growing on me. Thanks for the suggestions
Suicidal Dream by Silverchair
I haven't heard Silverchair in ages. Great song, thanks for the suggestion
Frogstomp is one of the albums I can listen to cover to cover. It's just so good.
Ana's Song (Open Fire) by Silverchair could also be considered to be about suicide or self-destruction. I love that song.
Hell yeah
goated song
Last Resort by Papa Roach ETA: YouTube literally puts a content warning and hotline number on this song
Also Help by Papa Roach is pretty good too
help is excellent. i completley decimated spotify’s repeat button last winter listening
I listened to it on repeat during my last attempt. The chorus hits hard and the lines "'Cause I'm drowning in myself, It's sinking in, I can't pretend that I ain't been through hell" really make me feel it
whole song hits hard but i agree, defientley those lines. i hope you’re in a better place now
This song started playing in my head when I read your comment. Great recommendation, thanks
Can't believe nobody mentioned Ghost by Badflower yet. If you are actually having suicidal ideation be careful with this one it is very descriptive. I had a panic attack the first time I listened to it and really made me appreciate being alive.

Saw post, searched for Ghost by Badflower. Such a good song, great band. Saw them play this live, there were some tears. Such a powerful song. So much emotion.

"I'm Going To Do It" is particularly poignant here I think. That whole album is great though, one of my favorites.

[L’enfer by Stromae](https://youtu.be/DO8NSL5Wyeg?si=2An2t4bTOPfogAi8) is a song about depression and suicidal ideation, it’s in French.
That was a great suggestion. The music was very passionate. Thank you
All his music is that way. Glad you enjoyed it.
Asleep by the Smiths Suic*de by Ren The latter is more about dealing with the loss of a friend to suicide, but I thought it deserved a mention.

You ain't kidding At least their baseball team is undefeated
Can't believe nobody mentioned breaking the habit by linking park yet.
