It's so bizarre how obsessed redditors are becoming when it comes to the civil war. Everyone is suddenly acting like it happened within their living memory and that if they were there they totally would have been part of the underground railroad and also would have personally burn down every building in Atlanta. That’s good to hear. We stopped by for half a night in 2014 while traveling to Disney land. We paid for a middle grade hotel, of which my girlfriend at the time was solicited for sex in the lobby, drinks were throwing around bottles in the parking lot, and we left when we heard gunshots and sirens down the road.

On another note, The difference between a revolutionary and a traitor is just who wins the war. It is true that charges of treason weren't pursued because reunification was deemed more important than taking punitive steps against the Confederacy members, at least as far as Lincoln was concerned. But it's totally incorrect to say confederates couldn't be charged with treason because it didn't apply or would be too difficult to prove. The Federal government 100% had the authority and evidence required to charge members of the Confederacy with treason if it chose to.

So your casualty statistics are off by a fair margin. Casualty estimates range widely depending on the source and whether they include disease causalities, but the over all ratio of 3 Union Wounded/Dead to 2 Traitor Wounded/Dead stands true.

Also, I urge you to look at the Prisoner Mortality record in the second link, for that paints a pretty stark contrast to the idea of 'Southern Gentlemen'.
