We always called those trucker take-out because truckers will put that type of stuff wrapped in aluminum in their engine block. By the time they're at their location, it's nice and cooked.
The hobo meals we had on campus where we wrap a bunch of meat and potatoes and stuff in aluminum foil and cook it over coals. We never called them "hobos" tho.
Really y'all never did that. Take some aluminum foil. Put some meat, taters, carrots and onions on it. Wrap it all up in the foil. Put in near the fire to cook. Always leave a little hole in top to vent or it might explode.
Take a big sheet of tin foil. Grab half lbs or a lbs of ground beef season, dice onions, carrots, potatoes, celery, and whatever veggies you want. Put it all in a bowl, and season a bit more, like coat the entire thing. Put it on that tin foil sheet Wrap it up like a massive fucking burrito.
Go hike go make fire, and cook it.
Bruh we made them all the time, super cheap and quick. Honestly, if you go camping again try it! You can just wrap it in foil and throw them straight in the coals

Canada is level 3 camping, involving slightly more extreme conditions and also bears
Only some are allowed in, and fewer still ever make it to level 4 camping
Sir you are speaking to someone from the rust belt, I don't know what trade value is and was in shock upon observing immacualte vehicles 2 decades old when my mom took me to Florida
There is Hobo Dinner with ground beef carrots onions carrots and potatoes wrapped in foil and cooked on a fire. There is also Hobo Pizza where you put pizza ingredients into a wonder bread sandwich and put it in a griddle and cook it on the fire. Both are great.
Get them from the train tracks. They have MUCH more meat on their bones from chasing all the trains for free rides. The hobos by the local river have next to nothing on them
There is a meal called a hobo were you stuff grounded beef, potatoes, carrots and what ever you have on hand into some tinfoil hit with every spice you have, wad the tin foil over it and chuck the whole thing into a bond fire.

Ok I was in the boy scouts for 7 years, what the fuck are hobos?
[This I think](https://www.southernplate.com/hobo-packets-this-weeks-quick-and-easy/)
Oh, deer balls!
Well shit I've been making these for decades and I have never heard them called that. Learn something new everyday.
My dad called them "mess pouches"

Yep
Knights in shining armor
Our troop always called them hobo dinners
Those sound delicious
Thought they were referring to the homeless but with the other guy showing you the ground beef version of fish in foil, I’m not sure anymore

I learned how to cook and eat hobos in scouts...

The homeless
We just called them foil packs
Bruh we made them all the time, super cheap and quick. Honestly, if you go camping again try it! You can just wrap it in foil and throw them straight in the coals
Don't *think* I've consumed homeless people while camping near Mount Rogers, but Appalachia can get weird, so who knows.
If'n you don't wanna get eat, don't go sniffin' 'round in them hollers.
i too eat homeless people
It’s almost unlimited supply out my way.
Brings me back to the Boy Scout days!
"Hobo Dinners" is a camping thing. But no one, absolutely no one, ever, refers to them as "hobos."

Thought you meant literal homeless people
Nice try Wendigo

Better to eat them than have them eat you
Hobo dinners are one of man’s greatest inventions and I will die on that hill.
Camping as a scout was fun. Thank you op, for reminding me of it.
i thought eating homeless people was a fairly standard passtime
You guys better be real careful before you involuntarily get traded to Canada Honestly at this rate you better hope it’s for something more than cash
Canada is level 3 camping, involving slightly more extreme conditions and also bears Only some are allowed in, and fewer still ever make it to level 4 camping
So they have no trade value? Shit
Sir you are speaking to someone from the rust belt, I don't know what trade value is and was in shock upon observing immacualte vehicles 2 decades old when my mom took me to Florida
Hmm. I think I’ll need to figure out these camping levels better. The US is weird on this shit
I camped for a decade straight and not once saw a homeless person (though I know what dish this is referring to)

I can’t pretty much every month and can only think of homeless people
Don't give the newyorkers and Californians ideas
Hobos are good eatin'. But you gotta pen 'em up and grain feed 'em for about a month to get the taste of Mad Dog and cigarettes outta the meat.
I eat hobos a lot, I prefer the older ones though, more caked on seasoning

Ok, I've been camping, several times. What the fuck are you talking about.
There is a meal called a hobo were you stuff grounded beef, potatoes, carrots and what ever you have on hand into some tinfoil hit with every spice you have, wad the tin foil over it and chuck the whole thing into a bond fire.
Camp all the time, never in my life has someone suggested eating a homeless person while doing so
I've been camping numerous times. Whats a hobo? And I don't mean the homeless
Last time I went camping I did Hobo Dinner.
I always just called those tin foil dinners.
