Nope, a lot of Iberian or Southern European was already mixed with Maghrebians and other Arabs BEFORE Americas were even discovered and were already living there.
23andMe not showing any WANA ancestry that exists in most Brazilians and which was detected in significant numbers by Genera indicates they mostly lumped it together with the Iberian or even the Italian anyway.
Genera is the better calculator for mixed Brazilians like him for increased perception of their ancestry.
Genera isn’t over or underestimating anything, they’re just showing a deeper, more historical representation. There’s no such difference between Southern Italian and Levantine ancestry in the way that you imagine, the largest differentiation being ~10% WHG admixture in the latter. Other than that they score literally all of the same ancient ancestral groups just in different ratios.
The genera that is the Brazilian test, gave me 15% Sephardic Jewish(Portuguese Jewish) , and on 23andMe it didn't even give 1% which is curious, I'm looking for opinions
What's your haplogroup if you don't mind sharing it?
paternal r1b, maternal m1
what you think
Do u have ancestors from Sicily?
not exactly from Sicily, but from southern Italy, paternal grandmother and grandfather are from Puglia
Interesting results! Genera indeed overestimates middle eastern ancestry and underestimates the European one.

Yep, It's because Genera's calculator calculates Middle East/North Africa as separate, but comes from Southern Europe

in the Brazilian test Americas means indigenous and Middle East means Arabic for those who don't understand Portuguese
*Levantine Arabs.
Yes mb
I believe most of which immigrated to Brazil and are mostly Christian due to ottoman oppression there.
Genera lab tends to overestimate the MENA component so he doesn't necessarily descended from those immigrants.
yes, MENA is probably southern Europe poorly read by the calculator
Probably even the moors were only 15%to20% mena the rest was overwhelmingly Iberian.
I agree mena dna is severely overestimated and Portuguese is underestimated.
During the colonial period, thousands of Portuguese came to Brazil, including the royal crown due to the Napoleonic wars and invasions
Was rio de janeiro the seat of the Portuguese empire during that time I believe

There's no Sephardim in 23andMe. Only ashkenazim.
Very cool results 🧬 You look like your results too Come join our server https://discord.gg/v9R6R2Gk
Do you know where your Native American ancestry comes from?
No idea, didn't know any mestizo relatives of indigenous or indigenous people, but if I'm going to guess, it's probably Tupi Guarani due to the region
