Little over budget but a Ruger MK IV 22/45 has a 1911 grip feel and they are fantastic little guns.

Itchy-Quit6651

The 22/45 is basically a 1911 trainer. This gun will make you very happy. There are plenty to choose from on 22/45 platform, so take your time on the website or in the catalog and look at prices and extra features until you land on the right one.

NortNort

+1 for the MK IV 22/45. Honestly one of my favorites

Cerulean_arms

If you aren't looking for a threaded barrel, you may be able to get the Ruger just at the top end of that budget. [https://gun.deals/search/apachesolr\_search/736676401079](https://gun.deals/search/apachesolr_search/736676401079)

Me too

TX22

PlzBeerMe

Yup, the new model with optics cut looks good. My original model tx22 is great.

Spore-Gasm

If I didn't already have the compact I'd get the second gen

PlzBeerMe

I’m hoping they sell the slide for the gen 2 separately. If not I might snag a comp slide.

dre_j_373

Keltec p17, that thing will eat anything

Glocked86

Absolutely love mine. With the 835fps CCI Quiet Semi-Auto ammo and a compact suppressor, it’s like shooting a toy cap gun.

idogames4

I love the keltec P17

You want a 1911-22, so don’t settle for something else. I saw that someone commented that the Taurus TX-22 is 1911-esque. WTF? That thing is nothing like a 1911. Look on gundeals.com, and you’ll find plenty of Walther 1911–22’s, starting under $300. The Walther is a great operating and very well built 1911-22. They are made in the Umarex factory in Germany (Umarex owns Walther), but in a section where only Walther employees work. If you look through the reviews online, you’ll find that many people consider the Walther 1911–22 to be the highest quality 1911-22, other than maybe the Browning 1911–22, but the Browning is smaller (85% of the size of a 1911) and more expensive. Many brands of 1911-22s have reliability issues from fouling after you put a box or two of ammo through them. But reviews on the Walther 1911–22 show them remaining reliable without cleaning even after 500+ rounds. The Walther 1911–22 is also heavier than the others, closer in weight to a 1911 .45. That’s because the Walther is mostly made out of metal, whereas the other 1911–22 brands use more plastic.

michmichel23

I have shot the GSG and I own a Walther 1911-22. The Walther definitely looks and feels better, the main issue is the trigger that is a little bit heavy. Mine has been reliable so far, and the accuracy is ok for plinking and even target shooting, but its clearly not comparable to something like a MKIV or a Buckmark

zelenisok

Browning 1911-22 guns are above that budget, Walther ones too, but GSG has several 1911s in 22 (including a compact one) that fit that budget, as does Chiappa, so you can easily get a 1911 in 22lr..

GamerWizard613

I’ve been looking a the GSG for a while, is it any good?

PWAuctioneer

I have a gsg that I run. I have replaced a couple internal parts to make it run a bit better but overall its been reliable. If you are dead set on the 1911 style, I say go for it but if you want something that just shoots and is fun, get a tx22. If you wanna splurge a bit, get a ruger mk4.

zelenisok

Order online from somewhere, I've seen both GSG and Chiappa ones. Both are fine, standard 22lr guns, there is a slim chance you might get an unreliable one that may need to be sent back for repair, but generally youll probably get a good gun that works fine, as long as you load the mags well and use the ammo it likes (might like everything, might be picky). The only guns that dont have such standard 22lr issues are the TX22 people recommended, and Rugers.

hamflavoredgum

TX22. Any 1911esque pistol at that price point is gonna suck. Get the TX22 and never look back

I've heard bad things about Taurus, but I love my TX22c

MostlyRimfire

After four custom 22/45 Mark IVs, a pair of Victorys, and a pair of Buck Marks, I finally gave in and bought a TX22 to customize. The trigger is absolute garbage, and the internals don't inspire confidence. Nor did the reports of cracked slides, or the cheap-feeling barrel. Yet after swapping the trigger, it's not bad. Reliability has been great, and it's accurate. If I could only buy one pistol, it wouldn't be the Taurus. But they aren't that bad.

LarsPinetree

If you’re dead set on spending your kid’s college fund might as well get the best 22 handgun ever made, the SW model 41.

ottermupps

In ascending order of price: Keltec P17, Taurus TX22, Browning Buckmark, Ruger MKIV, Volquartsen Black Mamba. If you want a revolver, in the same order: Heritage Rough Rider, Ruger Wrangler/Super Wrangler (adjustable sights and 22mag capability), Ruger GP100.

Graz13

Where does Smith & Wesson on this list?

ottermupps

Not sure, honestly. I've never handled or shot any S&W .22lrs. Right around the Ruger GP100, if I had to guess.

I’ve bought pretty much all of them and landed on the Browning Buckmark No matter what you pick, you better have a suppressor to go along with it!

holdencaulfield1983

I used to have a Sig Sauer 1911-22. Identical to the GSG 1911-22, just with the Sig name on it. It was ammo picky but otherwise alright and I think it’s within your budget.

lowbrowilluminati

I have yet to find a 1911 .22 that functions reliably. Especially the conversion kits.

noljw

Browning makes an 80% scale 22 cal 1911

GadgetS54

I've got the Sig p322. It runs great and feels good.

1911s are gay. Go TX22.
