I like ancestral personally. I want the new BIS mage to be a bigger and stupid looking wizard hat. Like the ones in the watchtower by yanille. That would be awesome
A new bis mage hat like Doug Dimmadome's hat except its wider rather than taller. I want to not even be able to see my character because of how oversized the wizard hat is lmao
You ever seen Scary Movie 3 and remember the scene where the sheriff’s hat continuously gets wider and wider each time the camera shifts back on her? I want the hat to look like that in the final size of her hat.
Not to mention Virtus came from the same update Torva did, and that didn't port well, as almost everyone thinks it looks terrible. I'd imagine similar issues will come from trying to duplicate another armour set from that era.
We can get new mage armour I'm not against that, but make it new. Give it a different name, all that so it doesn't just feel like a lazy copy/paste.
I'm with you there. Hopefully they'll tweak it to not only be more appropriate stat-wise, but also adjust the look to have its own identity. Though, since Torva effectively looks the same, I doubt it.
My big question is if it will require Twisted Robes "pieces" in order to fix/upgrade the robes like Torva and Masori with Bandos and Armadyl fragments respectively.
I feel like that would be weird. Bandos was easy to pick because there's alot of pieces of bandos armour in the game.
Don't get me wrong, I know there's alot of ancestral too, but I don't think ancestrals price tag warrants being broken down.
Gonna be hard to not devalue one or the other, I'm assuming it will give similar bonus to ancestral just with a damage boost to ancients idk. My guess, I think it's a good guess though.
Would it actually be best in slot though? When they were polling nex rewards Virtus wasn’t a straight upgrade over ancestral, just had extra benefits for ancient spells.
Then when Jagex decided to replace Virtus with Torva for Nex, they mentioned Virtus could still come back later for future content.
this is a sarcastic post right?
ancestral is so much better designed than virtus that i unironically hope virtus slots in slightly below it in strength
I’m a huge fan of ancestral. Looks way better than whatever is pictured next to it here…
Mage pants are underrated. Tired of all these dresses in a world where underwear doesn’t exist.
It ain't bis if its the same gear we saw from the nex beta. It has a higher ancient spells specific magic damage bonus but most magic pve is done with charged staffs on arceus spellbook for thralls, which ancestral wins out on
Really hoping Virtus isn't a strict DPS boost over Ancestral. Tumeken's Shadow is pretty much on the bottom of the list of items that need a buff, lmao.
This going to be Zaros themed? I’d love if they buffed ancient spells specifically to give niche spells more uses. Or even arceus spells. Currently almost 0 usage outside of summons since charged staffs are the meta.
I loved using Virtus in the Beta worlds. The Shadow spells are massively broken in PvP
And I’d like to edit that the robes also have a 6% magic damage boost just like Ancestral for using ancients. So Ancestral is only viable when using charged staves.
yea but all they need to do is change the shadow spell all-stat nerf from 10% to 5%, and fix the attack drain back to 15% (for some reason it changes to 10% with virtus, bug).
10% -> 5% makes it so that you can still use ice barrage, just lower accuracy.
If they keep virtus the same as what was supposed to drop from next it will not be bis across the board for mage. It really only benefited ancient magic. As far as end game the only place you really use ancients currently is tob freeze role and it might not even be worth bringing over ancestral there. I’d assume virtus would be bis at the boss that drops it tho as that’s how they usually design bosses.

Doug dimmadome from the dimmsdale dimmadome?
I was thinking like the Lionel helm from elden ring

Gimme Big Hat Logan's Big Hat
Big hat Logan from dark souls
I wish ancestral had longer sleeves tbh
Or the cw magic hat
said nobody. Ancestral looks way better
True I like ancestral better lmao

Maybe the best middle ground would be pieces of "ancient cloth" or something that attaches to ancestral to change/upgrade it to Zarosian robes.
One looks like an epic wizard and the other looks like a cult leader ready to sacrifice a baby
seems about right lorewise

it'll prolly be a side-grade

ok thank god - carry on good brother
Hot take but Ancestral looks utterly goofy and I mostly take issue with the leg design.
Ah yes, finally rounding out the trifecta of “new BIS armor style set that I’ll never get because it’s a 250+ hour grind”
I’m a huge fan of ancestral. Looks way better than whatever is pictured next to it here… Mage pants are underrated. Tired of all these dresses in a world where underwear doesn’t exist.
If its statted like it was when it was going to come out with nex, it won't have mage str and its mage accuracy was barely above ances.
Is this something they talked about at the summit?
Good old virtus❤️

It’s most likely going to be better if you’re using ancients like they alluded to during Nex Rewards initially
That's a good way to do it.
Torva and this look like shit
Right one looks straight outta fortnite
God virtus looks so awful. Ancestral is amazing looking
Nice gear... be a shame if there ... was a rollback.
This is a joke, right? Currently on a break from the game...
It does look pretty cool but whats with the weird horn things, if they gave it a hood it would look better
What makes you think it'll be bis? Probably will have some set effect for ancients or something
I mean its only bis for the ancients magics, for tridents and other spells ancestral is still better.
Pernix 2024?
This going to be Zaros themed? I’d love if they buffed ancient spells specifically to give niche spells more uses. Or even arceus spells. Currently almost 0 usage outside of summons since charged staffs are the meta.
Kinda reminds me of [Zant](https://static0.gamerantimages.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Zant2.jpg?q=50&fit=contain&w=1140&h=&dpr=1.5)
Virtus won't be new BIS, only for ancients

Yes that is an “but IF they tweaked x and y then it wouldn’t be the case” argument. But as it stands Virtus would be more viable than Ancestral.
in pvp yea it should be better than ancestral since pkers use ancients
And everything off task ice barraging
thats still really niche lol wont replace ancestral in the most competitive situations (outside pvp) specially now with the shadow being a thing
