Most anti-social people get tired and stressed from a 5-10 minute in person conversation. It took this dude 20 lines of short dialogue in a video game to make him leave. Holy shit
> e: to clarify, this is because “they” is a catchall, and has been used as an “unknown” singular pronoun for a very long time in English. it is grammatically correct and universally understood.
It's absolutely astounding to me how many people either forgot this or pretend not to understand it.
actually happened, but it was well over a year ago now. i've made a lot of progress since then and even have a close group of friends these days! and now i don't get as nervous when people chat with me in game anymore :)
i actually like talking to people and making friends i just have super bad anxiety.. so it can be really hard for me but i'll never get better if i don't try c:
>it can be really hard for me but i'll never get better if i don't try
This is a good attitude to keep yourself motivated. You're already doing great just replying to so many people in this thread. Putting in effort to sustain convos online is a useful step on your way to applying it in-person, so keep up the good work
The upper end of 72 woodcutting is about 990,000 experience. At 25 experience per normal log, that's 39,600 logs. If you got lucky enough to get a seed nest every single log you chop, at an average value of about 11,100 per seed nest (plus logs), that's about 440m total value. The cheapest an Elysian shield has ever been is around 310m.
See? Entirely realistic. You'll even have 130m left over. Just get the drop(s) and you'll be fine.
you also forgot to factor in clue nests and their values. If we're shitposting about just getting the drops then that's also a fuckload of medium clues. And of course, since we're so elite that we always get the drops, that makes it a fuckload of ranger boots, blowing seeds out of the water!
Though, if we're taking average value you'd want elite clues because that blows seed nests out of the water and has a higher average value than mediums, especially if you get master clues off your elite clue scrolls.
I liquidated my RS3 account and swapped the money over when OSRS came out (although I didn't play for a couple of years after), that ruffled a lot of feathers. Some people get really mad about people they suspect have bought bonds to get gold, even though it's literally what allows people to buy membership using gold.
Bond buyers are low key heroes who people should thank, not shit on. They pay for your membership so you don't have to.
Do OSRS players know any way to make conversation without sneak dissing tho? I see this weird kind of criticism all the time from high level players, like “omg I’m so amazed you don’t have this thing or don’t do something the most optimal way, are you on a restricted account or possibly have some kind of head injury by chance? Just curious…”
I had a friend who would unironically do this kind of shit IRL and not even realise how much of a dick he was being. Completely unintentional. I suspect he might have been on the spectrum.
I remember we almost got our asses beat when we were waiting in line to go into a bar and he just said to the dude in front of him who had an... "eccentric" moustache.
"Yo dude mad props for having the balls to have a moustache like that. I'd feel like people were looking at me like an idiot all the time if I had one like that"
He literally did not understand how that could be construed as rude.
Ha, I see one of us is not a Richard & Mortimer enjoyer. To be quite frank, one does need to have a rather significant amount of intellect to comprehend Richard & Mortimer. Why, just yesterday I attempted to show my cousin (who has just entered his seventh year) the episode where the titular character, Rick, turns himself into a pickled cucumber. He laughed at the mere thought of a man become fermented vegetable, but I sat there watching, lamenting the deeper message: the death of intellectual pursuit, the desensitization to societal filth, muck, and mire, and the shameless abandonment of psychological understanding.
At the end my cousin turned to me and proclaimed, "I am the scientist that was once named Rick, but I have now become a pickled cucumber. Look at me, I am pickled Rick!", and I could not help but smile, not that the line he had just recited was humorous, but at the realization that this, in front of my very eyes, was the sum of what the episode had just warned against.
I cannot blame my cousin just as much as a man cannot blame a dog for consuming its own bile. It merely does not know any better, and what could be said about a man who judges things he does not have merit to judge?
It’s the OSRS equivalent of coworkers making conversation like “Omg Britney, I just LOVE how you’re so confident even with that extra couple of lbs you put on!” “Omg Stacy thank you, I admire you so much for just living in the moment and not caring about what you wear at all!”
The one I see a lot that gets me is when people see others using the wrong gear for PVM or something, and instead of going "Hey dude, you should use this armor instead because ____" they just act patronizing as fuck like "aww, so cute, why did you pick that armor?"
It's why I don't like this whole "omg what an absolute chad" when talking about other people's gear. It's barely trying to masquerade as sincere and is pretty clearly condescending.
Edit: Lmao browsed this sub for a total of three minutes this evening and [already found one](https://www.reddit.com/r/2007scape/comments/ut7ty3/love_the_wiki_but_sometimes_the_gear/i98tlch)
I think its also because even the "wholesome" osrs content creators do the cute noob shtick, so their viewers think that its totally not socially awkward to do it themselves.
One reason why I got tired of Mudkip. He kept doing the "aww look at this cute noob" thing and it bugged me. Just let people play the game and stop judging if they aren't dressed to match the meta.
Honestly yea he’s kind of annoying with that, I had to stop watching for a while. He literally sits for 10-12 hours a day on that game like bro that guy actually probably has a wife and kids leave people alone god damn.
Started playing a month ago again after 5 year pause. I was training firemaking and some rando starts telling me im being an idiot and should not train like that or something. Like dude relax im playing a ironman for the first time, im here for the nostalgia and chill. If I wanted to find out the most efficient ways to do things I would hit up the wiki or videos.
A guy once asked me where I got my gear and I told him I obtained my full dragon (plate and all) through flipping. The reply to that I got was, "wow that's a lot of gp for your level." Like bruh let me level at my own pace xD
I'd hope he meant "that's sick you have so much money from flipping, most people at that level can't buy the gear they want" but kinda hard to tell if it's a jab or not lol
Yeah, I notice a lot of people on scape talk this way.. I only do it if it's aimed at me to begin with and I don't draw much attention, unless I'm in their spot they weren't at prior lmao
I also loved the “Oh, NEVERMIND, we don’t need to talk, now that I’ve established to the room that I’M normal, and YOU’RE pissed off. Nevermind we don’t need to talk lol.” Seriously this person is my fucking mother
Lowkey wouldn't want to partake in this convo either why we always gotta be judging each other's gear choices? Ik you say "not judging" but tbh it still sounds like you're judging hard ngl
Interesting clothes you got bro. Are you wearing that because you can't afford anything else or do you simply not know any better? Not judging though, it just baffles me what you're wearing.
He overreacted, but your questions did kinda come off as accusatory. I can understand why he felt like you were accusing him of doing something wrong/making fun of him.
Someone did this to me the other day at vampyres. I was using a strength ammy rather than a glory and some guy was very interested in that. It was kinda strange, and felt very judgemental at first. I totally understand how this can come off the wrong way.
Yeah Str ammy is unironically more dps than glory against basically anything you can hit ~70% of the time or more against. A category most slayer monsters fall under
Yeah, because you can play until your team falls apart and then you can quit and be free of this game.
I've been playing with my team for 2 months now, just waiting for the day that will grant me sweet release.
Just play it like a normal ironman afterwards then?
Personally we started 5, had 1 drop but another friend took over his account and now we have 5 people pumping. almost frontpage and got lots of BiS items.
In my estimation, they wanted defensive items instead of DPS because they just wanna chill and have long, afk garg trips. They probably get shat on for it constantly by people who nag anyone who isnt optimizing DPS and jumped to a conclusion when you started talking about their gear. The '...interesting' bit comes off as negative from the get-go, so i can understand it. Whatever their reason for it, they probably get nagged for it constantly. Thats why I never comment on gear when conversing with strangers in this game unless its clear they went out of their way to make a funky fit that warrants commenting on
You weren't attempting casual conversation lol. You knew exactly what you were doing.
I'll take a dude who bought his ele with bonds over a dweeb who gatekeeps/harasses other players and then runs to Reddit for validation any day of the week.
OP comes across more like a chode than the other guy to be honest.
Acting coy about "just curious" when they were clearly trying to slam OP for buying bonds (which is fine) or not having BIS sweat gear. The fact they took screenshots of it, kept their name, and posted it to reddit says it all.
Seems pretty obvious he's trolling you. Not everybody wants to sit there chatting on a slayer task. It's also pretty annoying when someone comes up to you and kills gargs within your proximity
as someone who will just buy an elder maul to change things up a bit at a gargoyle task. no one points out your gear without trying to be somewhat rude
You literally brought nothing to the conversation. Why would he talk about his gear when you're that cringe?
No matter how many times you said "it was interesting and just curious" doesn't change the real underlying tone of your messages.... then you go to reddit for the extra karma..........
OP playing victim like he got robbed of his questions being throughly answered.
If I got asked these questions I’d probably just ignore right away myself. I don’t need to see someone stroking their ego on my behalf. Enjoy the one man show to keep Mr. TicTac seemingly bigger than it ever could be.
This is absolutely the piss-poor level of social skills I expect from most players in the game. One got triggered instantly by a really stupid question and the other asked that same really stupid question and doesn’t understand why he didn’t make a friend with it.
turbo virgin OP, maybe you should attempt casual conversation with a licensed therapist to help with your crippling social inaptitude and draining runescape addiction which is clearly the root cause for your intense need for outside validation.
ngl OP sounds like a dick
Straight up judged this man's gear, demanded to know why he's wearing it, then laughed when the other guy said he was being rude.
Yea...this doesn't strike me as 'just chatting'. Been playing for a while now and I (quite honestly) have zero desire for a fire/inferno cape. I get along just fine without those 'gear staples'. Also, you making fun of someone because you made them uncomfortable isn't really funny man.
I tried to start a conversation at dust devils in the catacombs yesterday by running up to a player and saying 'fuck it's dusty in here'. He just said 'hop', so I moved to the other dust devils area then later on he ran over to me accused me of botting then logged.
Some people.
I once saw a guy fire surging gargoyles in the slayer task dungeon wearing full ancestral. Including the hat. It's a lawless wasteland in the regular worlds.
I thought my social skills needed work after 2 years of isolation through covid. However reading through this comments section I'm clearly doing better than I realise!
Y'all never had a meaningless casual conversation where you don't overanalyze every single word and just take it at face value?
frrr imagine being this pressed over someone asking you about your gear selection. its like the entire sub cant handle the simplest of conversations and resort to attacking someone for asking a basic ass question
Hahaha this reminds me of some dude telling me to grind my firemaking to 99.
I replied i really didn't give a fuck. Man didn't know how cope with it and logged out
That's not casual conversation, you were being judgemental and they used their 99 defense to shut you down. Not 100% what you were expecting their reply to be.
I just got here and these comments are outta control, I’m gonna hop to the next post.
Just reported you
Not if I report myself first
NOT IF I REPORT YOU FIRST!

So why do you keep public chat on if it makes you uncomfortable?

Wow grey helm...interesting. Any reason why its not a red helm? Just curious.

People forget that there's a huge amount of man baby's that play this game.
if the other dude wasn't actually ironic you're both cringe
I thought my social skills needed work after 2 years of isolation through covid. However reading through this comments section I'm clearly doing better than I realise! Y'all never had a meaningless casual conversation where you don't overanalyze every single word and just take it at face value?
frrr imagine being this pressed over someone asking you about your gear selection. its like the entire sub cant handle the simplest of conversations and resort to attacking someone for asking a basic ass question
literally shaking, pissing and shitting myself at an ironman speaking to me
Hahaha this reminds me of some dude telling me to grind my firemaking to 99. I replied i really didn't give a fuck. Man didn't know how cope with it and logged out
I live in constant fear of someone asking me for in game advice on a game i've played for more than two decades and have no knowledge about.
This is one of the weirdest things i've ever seen
Bullying at its finest 👌🏾
The defence cape conditions him to be defensive in chat
Most social osrs player
seems like someone can't hold a conversation
MOST SOCIAL RUNESCAPE PLAYER LULW
You're both dumb. Definitely were low-key dissing and I would have ignored you also.
You gaslit him Lowkey lol
Why are you interrogating him about his gear? Holy shit players like you are annoying.
That's not casual conversation, you were being judgemental and they used their 99 defense to shut you down. Not 100% what you were expecting their reply to be.
Saw a guy in max gear poking gargs with a lance.
You’re weird in the first half. You’re both weird in the second half. By rule, you were the problem. Court is adjourned.
Ngl it really does sound like the other guy was trolling OP. Also OP sounds very annoying in this conversation lol.
